Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

vicky huge developmental leaps and growth spurt at 5-6m. DS still feeding every 2-3hrs most days. If your DD is hungry in the night then feed her, at this age its perfectly normal for babies to need milk through the night.

DS2 is very keen to start BLW. He snatched pizza out of my hand at a party on the weekend, a potato wedge from my plate yesterday tea time, and a naan bread today Grin
Seems he like carby food, like his big bro...

Hello all. Regarding weaning, going back to EBF has really worked for us. DS now sleeping better and has a much less gripey tummy. I guess it was too early. Lesson learned - sorry little one.

Heading to see my parents for a couple of days & I'm involved in a winetasting at Lords tomorrow so mum's babysitting. I have 7 x 5 fl oz expressed milk. I hope it's enough!

It'll be great to get up to big smoke. I miss London.

Having said that we are all suffering from the lurgy too...swollen glands, sore throats for the adults & a snotty nose for DS. How can I tell if his throat is sore? He's happy enough I himself though.

Hope all is going well with you!

Hello ladies! Just returned from our holiday in Sardinia. Had a lovely time apart from the meal out where N decided to have a huge meltdown and we ended up having to take 100 euros worth of food home in doggie bags! Bless him, it was completely understandable, they cocked up our order and we had to wait over an hour for our starters. It all got a bit much for him. He was a star the rest of the time.

We had a super king sized bed in the apartment and we co-slept each night. It was lovely and we all slept so well. Our bog standard double at home is a bit of a squish for us all.

Sorry to hear some of you and your babies are feeling under the weather, I hope it passes soon.
hugandroll - so sorry to hear about your gran :-(

Still no plans to wean here until 6 months. My boobs still seem to be doing a good job. To be honest I feel a bit nervous about the whole thing - feeding the wrong foods, choking risks etc.

N has nasty ezcema on his legs, tummy and arms :-(. I've been applying sudocream at every nappy change but it is still cracking and looking awful. To the doctors we go!

laughingGnomette · 18/09/2012 17:52

henrietta - wine tasting sounds amazing! Enjoy!! Envy Wine

newmummyvicky · 18/09/2012 21:40

Glad to hear that fliss thought dd was having a growth spurt, she is extra hungry in the day and picking up extra bf at night!
still feeding as normal and weaning is going well, I'm giving her a little more porridge morning and slightly bigger portions at night.

Managed to get a 6 hr stretch last night so shouldn't complain. :)

henrietta sounds lovely the wine tasting, dd still won't take bottle of anything!
I'm trying her on tippy cups instead, managed to drink a little water and EBM with dinner yesterday. So fingers crossed that will work!!!!

hugandroll · 18/09/2012 22:04

laughing ds1 had really bad eczema that cracked and would bleed, we couldn't avoid hydrocortisone cream but they will prescribe a really low dose and an emoliant like diprabase all over the affected areas for every nappy change and continuing with the emoliant even when the flare up has gone (but stop the hydrocortisone). We didn't find sudocrem helped and oilatum made it worse. Bath as little as possible and don't use bath products, the emoliant can be used as a soap in the bath and wash hair over a sink.

I know that all sounds extreme but it's the only way we got it under control. He's been fine for years but have noticed a couple of patches on his leg I will keep an eye on.

A rolled over today while I was at the gym. Dh filmed it for me though so I got to see it. Looking forward to tomorrow so I can see it for myself :).

HollyPockett · 19/09/2012 02:04

Oh, wine tasting and Sardina. I am jealous!!

DD still snotty. She's coughing and coughing and gagging on mucus but swallows it rather than spits it out, so it's a vicious circle. Sleeping flat on her back in her cot just has her coughing because she can't breath and I've been up since 12 with her. It's awful, she doesn't moan or winge, just coughs and wakes herself up. So I've put her on her side. She's absolutely soundo because she can actually breath.

I've tried to put her down in her chair but she's too uncomfortable after an hour or so and wakes up.

Still no sitting or full on rolling here. Or weaning... But DD stares at me so intensly when I'm eating, it freaks me out!!

hug so sorry to hear about your Gran

digitalgirl · 19/09/2012 02:21

2 hourly wakings last night. 1.5 hourly wakings tonight. I cannot feed lying down. Don't know what to do, I keep thinking 'this too shall pass' but it really doesn't seem like its going to anytime soon.

Flisspaps · 19/09/2012 09:25

Urgh. Teething. DS up and screaming - and I mean a proper blood curdling screech - at 4.30am Hmm

At least I'd had the foresight to load a syringe with ibuprofen before bed last night so didn't have to scrabble around for the bottle in the dark.

vicky if DD is having a growth spurt, personally I'd offer the same solids portion rather than more, leaving more space for milk (as it's more calorific, unless you're giving L double cream on every meal WinkGrin)

Not tried a bottle for weeks here. Have got to do a 4 hour Safeguarding course and have told the council (who organise them) that I can't leave DS as he refuses a bottle, and they've found a session in a nursery I can do one evening and take him with me. There is an online course, by the NSPCC, but the council don't recognise it (stupidly, IMO!)

DS sits in his highchair at mealtimes and gets a dipped spoon to wave around. He's very good at getting it to his mouth, but he's still not sitting independently, so nothing more for him just yet!

So is anyone else TTC the next one yet? Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 19/09/2012 09:40

Freudian slip!! I am not TTC!! Blush

HenriettaChicken · 19/09/2012 09:47

Ooh Beyond - what did you mean to put! Wink

marshmallowpies · 19/09/2012 09:54

Presumably talking about when to TTC? Grin

We've gone from DH saying 'i can't imagine having another one' when she was a couple of months old to 'when we have no 2' now. I think he really, really hated the hospital experience and wouldn't want to go through that again in a hurry (being on the post natal ward, that is, not the actual birth as that was a very straightforward CS).

I always imagined my family would be 2 children but who knows if we'd conceive as easily second time round - I'm already 35 and after a CS we'd have to wait another year at least before trying...

VintageNancy · 19/09/2012 10:14

Ha ha! We are definitely not planning number 2 yet. I swing from oh my I want another one RIGHT NOW to: there's no way I can cope with a baby and a toddler. I'll be meeting our brand new nephew this weekend so I expect I'll swing to the want, want, want phase again.

E has increased her food repertoire to banana now. I think she did actually swallow a bit of it too. We've started a bit of sippy cup experimentation too which she seems to enjoy.

She is currently napping and has been since 8.45 - we hoping to go out soon so hope she wakes up before much longer.

Sorry about your grandma hug :( and woo hoo on the rolling! Nice one little man.

E has been sleeping with us since we arrived as she hates the travel cot and has been jet lagged although I think she's over that now. She was really wriggly and wakeful last night though so I'm feeling tired this morning. Think she woke at 3 and 6 to eat.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 19/09/2012 10:20

Lol, well I started TTC DS2 straight after having my first pp period (So DS1 was about 2m old), so its entirely plausible that someone could be TTC. Wink

Not me though!! (even if I did say anyone else Grin)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 19/09/2012 10:28

Oh hug sorry, I completely missed your news about your nan :( my brain is not cooperating with me at the moment!! wondering if its also a side effect of my ADs, there seem to be a lot of them?
My DHs nan died of cancer a few weeks ago. She was riddled with it, found out she was ill then died a few weeks later. Glad we got to see her a few times, but we never got a photo of her with DS2. We were worried about her thinking that we were taking photos cause she was going to die. Thought she would make a family party in Sept so we'd have a reason to take photos then (she didnt seem ill at all) but she died the bank holiday weekend :(

HenriettaChicken · 19/09/2012 10:50

True - I'd already been conceived by the time my DSis was DS's age! (13 1/2 month age gap).

We'd always talked about having two, but bizarrely we are now talking about how complete we feel with just one. Financially it makes loads of sense to us too - and DH is an only and doesn't feel he missed out (I have a DSis and love her, but she's also quite the challenge!)

I'm 35, too - and my body struggled with pregnancy (HG and Pre-Ec). I think the only reason we'd have another would be if we could see that it would really benefit DS: if he was the sort of boy who'd miss being a brother.

This is probably another reason I'm happy not to wean just yet: because once breastfeeding ends this time, that could be it!

(BTW - nearly out of space on this thread - can anyone more techy than me link to a new one?)

HenriettaChicken · 19/09/2012 10:51

Beyond...so sorry about your nan :(

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 19/09/2012 11:05

12 months 16 days between me and my sister
12 months 9 days between my mum and her sister

My DSs have got quite a big gap with 18 months 16 days Grin
