Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

hayley it is entirely normal for some bf babies to go for days on end without pooing. My dd once went 10 days! If they are ebf then they don't need water. Breast milk is just easily digested so sometimes there's nothing to poo. Not sure about mixed feeding though (can't remember if you are?)

I can't wait for the school hols, dd & ds1 play pretty well together & I won't miss have to do the school runs. We are going to st Ives/hayle for two weeks, staying in a chalet. Just hoping we get some dry weather.

newmummyvicky · 09/07/2012 14:14

Hi girls L sticky eye has nearly cleared up, she had it since birth.

Still feeding like buggery, 1.5-2hrs in the day and 4-5hrs at night. I feel tired! When I give her an expressed bottle she takes 5oz. Spoke to bf counsellor and she think she is having a development growth spurt! At nearly 4 months- 14wks, it seems about right! A few weeks ago we were doing 3hrs+ in the day and 6-8hrs at night!
I feel im going backwards......

Glad U had a nice night hayley and I would be pleased about Noah doing ever 4hrs on the day! Don't worry about the poo!

We had a professional photo shoot when lyra was 1week old, done by my friend where i work, also had bump ones done too. Take a look on fb.
I can't believe how much she has change in 3 months, she doesn't look at all the same as a newborn! :)

Nordicmom · 09/07/2012 19:31

DS had sticky eyes from birth for a long time. I seem to remember that one cleared by the age of 1y and the other just in time before he was 18m which is the cut off time when they want to do an operation on the tear duct if it hasn't cleared up so that was a great relief! They do it under general anaesthesia and that's always nerve-racking . A friend had to have it done with her DS . R didn't have anything for weeks to begin with but has had some stickiness time to time in the last few weeks.I asked about it in the 8 w check but they wanted to leave it for now before going for any antibiotics. Hope it clears up. No cradle cap here yet and she's kept her hair for now other than its wearing off a bit in the back since sleeps on her back. DS had horrible cradle cap and lost all the hair from the front with it . Looked like a little balding old man in his first passport photo ;)

Nordicmom · 09/07/2012 19:32

...need to go to have some nice photos taken of DS and DD...

newmummyvicky · 09/07/2012 21:48

nordic glad your dd is feeding and sleeping well. Yes they said her sticky eye was a blocked tear duct. Its been sticky most days but the last week it seems much clearer. So hopefully its gone! Does sound scary about the op! Also sorry to hear about your mother in law. We have grandparents now both with cancer, such a shame.

Got Lyra passport photos done the other day, she looks balding too, her hair was light brown at the birth, now is a Blondie-red colour. So not sure what it will be? Also have a patch missing too at the back and have a little bit of cradle cap, comes and goes so just been putting oil/baby moisturiser on it!

justhayley · 10/07/2012 00:35

Noah had really bad cradle cap a few weeks back I put baby oil on his head every day and after a bath would gently rub my nail over it and it would fall off - sounds gross lol Better than baby oil though is Aqueous cream felt strange putting cream in his hair by it totally cleared it up within a few days.

Thanks for all the poop advice - we eventually got one today. I am breast feeding but DS had 2 FF on Saturday night so maybe that was it - first time in about 6 weeks he's had formular not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Bloody DP was unwell this weekend and has left me with his lergies Sad i feel crap. Think DS is fighting it too - he was blocked up this morning and has pretty much slept all day iv had to wake him for feeds and nappy changes - he's been awake about 2 hours all day!

I was abit naughty today and let Noah have some ice cream lol. Not lots probably worked out to one baby spoon full. Judt put tiny bits on his lips for him to lick. He absolutely loved it & cried when I wouldn't let him have any more. I think he could have quite happily eaten a bowl of it lol

Flisspaps · 10/07/2012 00:45

hayley how old is your DS? Remember babies shouldn't have solids (that includes ice cream!) until at least 17w, preferably 6mo, as their digestive systems can't handle the contents properly - if you wean with purée it tends to only be a taste here and there to start with, so it doesn't have to be a lot - please bear that in mind if he steals your ice cream again!

F turned 3 months yesterday. He had his 2nd round of jabs and spent most of the day in my arms feeding or projectile vomming. Very unlike his reaction last time. But at least he slept well last night. In between I managed to get a few photos of him on the proper camera. Spent yesterday evening comparing his photos to ones of ds1 at a similar age. So cute.

fliss I just can't imagine F being ready for solids in 4 weeks time. Even though I still see him as a newborn - I'm fully expecting random strangers to tell me he needs food quite soon!

Anyone else's baby only having 2 minute feeds in the night? F has a 'sip' then I change his nappy then I roll him onto his front and he's back to sleep for another 4 hours. Then same when he wakes up in the morning. Except rather than going back to sleep he's up for an hour before he wants a proper feed.

kat1885 · 10/07/2012 12:38

Hello ladies, I would like to have some professional photos of my boys.

Was just giving a his bottle and he was so busy smiling at me while he fed he has given himself the hiccups :O

We are going to a mum and baby/toddler group this afternoon and then to my sil house so ds1 and dnephew can play.

hugandroll · 10/07/2012 23:43

Hi all its Kat. After it being pointed out that numbers in a username is a major faux pas I have changed it :)

newmummyvicky · 11/07/2012 05:29

Digital im having lots of 2-5 mins feeds at the moment, she just cries and won't take anymore in the day. At night I get a little more 10-15 mins. Bf consellor says sometimes they fancy a drink not a full on feed! Lol

I had massage last night. I felt pretty bad, left dh with lyra screaming before I left I think she was tired? But she has a nap and bottle when I was out. We put her down at 9pm and we stayed up till pass 11pm.
I tried a dream feed! Didn't think she would feed and didn't like picking her up. But she stayed asleep and feed for 5mins. Made her go till 4am, so it did work!!!!! Just me now, I can't get back to sleep lol

Not as many feeds lately, must be getting pass growth spurt. Hopefully! Still 20% of feeds with wind/ pain and crying but that is getting better too.

LaTristesse · 11/07/2012 08:44

What's up with numbers Hug?

Flisspaps · 11/07/2012 09:31

Was that on the 'where's the welcome on board' thread hug/kat?

I'm inclined to take the username comments like that with a pinch of salt. Call yourself what you want!

12w jabs yesterday. DS seemingly OK, back to bottle refusing Hmm.

DD had the biggest disappointment of her life this morning. DN visited yesterday and DD borrowed her wellies and loved them, so DH went out last night and bought her a pair and put them in her bedroom ready for her to find this morning. The excitement when she saw them! The crushing sadness when DH realised they weren't going to fit Sad Bastard Matalan. How gutting must it be to a 2yo to find your new surprise wellies don't fit?

DD keeps saying 'too small' in her saddest voice. DH is taking her to return the boots and get some bigger ones tonight.

LaTristesse Pass!

fliss tbh I was waaaay too recognisable with my username so at least now I can post away without wondering if I will get recognised in RL (other than here which I don't mind and if it gets traced back whoever discovers who I am deserves the info).

Awwww bless your DD. Your DH should take a video of her saying "too small" to show them and maybe you will get money off (I'm a tightass).

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 11/07/2012 22:14

I had photos done today, it was great fun lies, all lies!
One crying, then he cheered up and the other started, ad infinitum...

Have i missed a facebook group btw?

Flisspaps · 11/07/2012 22:29

Ooh, yes Beyond - MN April 2012 is us. It's a closed group so no-one outside can see what we're writing. Come find us. Let me know your initials so I know it's you I'm adding Grin

hug DD now has 2 pairs of wellies to make up for her morning. She also screamed at DH all round Tesco as she didn't want to walk, be carried, wear her new wellies or her shoes.

Evening all...big day for us tomorrow as we are venturing across the sea! (Well, to Jersey, anyway) to see my grandparents. So we'll find out what DS thinks of 4 1/2 hours on a boat. Envy

hugandroll · 11/07/2012 23:30

henrietta I'm a bit jealous as I love being on a boat even in rough sea. Have a wonderful time.

justhayley · 11/07/2012 23:46

Good luck with the ferry henrietta hope you have a nice holiday Smile

Arh bless being a girl whos dream would be to wake up and find new shoes in my room I can totally imagine the disappointment when they were too small.

I think DS may be having a growth spurt - hes 12 weeks official corrected age 10 weeks although midwives think my dates were wrong so more likely to be 7/8 weeks! Its annoying not being able to go by an official date means things like the wonder weeks don't help us Sad

Anyway for the last 3 days hes just wanted to sleep and dream feed. I'm abit run down and have a bit of a fever so I'm wondering if DS Is also unwell or just growing. Today has been odd he's only gone to my right boob. Everytime iv put him on the left he's sobbed his heart out and refuses it - really don't understand. I had to express from the left boob as he hasnt touched it all day and it was sooo full.
He's pretty much been attached to the right boob all day even when hes not eating he wants to be on it. My nipple is so sore Sad i tried popping in the dummy when he's been asleep and not feeding as a replacement comfort but he won't take it and knows it not me. He's been really clingy and upset every time I take him off the boob and don't think iv put him down for longer than 2 minutes. Iv finally got him to sleep and not attached to me so hopefully we'l get a few hours sleep. It's been a long day - could really do with DP being home I need looking after and he's in Scotland for 2 weeks on exercise so won't even get our Saturday night together Sad Today I hate the Army and am feeling sorry for myself

Flisspaps · 12/07/2012 08:10

hayley hope today is better for you Sad

Hi
I've been following the thread on and off but not posting- my little boy was born on the 17th April, can't believe how quickly time's going!
Just wondering if anyone's LO has started 'biting' when feeding? Just started doing it recently and it flipping hurts!
Thanks

HenriettaChicken · 12/07/2012 13:29

Hi Snowy. Hurrah for little boys born on 17 April! No biting here, but he has got very wiggly lately - little monkey!

newmummyvicky · 12/07/2012 13:37

Welcome snowy

hope U enjoy your trip henrietta , we are hoping to go away soon!

Sorry your having a hard time feeding again hayley I've just started slowing down again after growth spurt. Now at 8 feds per day.

Went to baby sensory class today L loved it, think about doing all 10 classes! There was puppets, scarfs, bubbles and sign and singing!

She is back to sleeping for 6-7 hrs. Thank god :)

Bearcrumble · 12/07/2012 14:26

So my dad is over from Italy - his main aims seem to be to smoke as many fags as possible and run for the hills every time I get a tit out (even though I'm covering up and being incredibly discreet especially for him). Toddler DS put on spectacular display of screamy wilfulness this morning. It's going to be a long week.

And I was looking forward to his visit.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/07/2012 14:55

Fliss, ive joined the group, im natalie h :)

Got a few ideas hayley, apologies if im repeating anyone or if youve already tried them...

  1. Always offer left first with every feed
  2. On the other hand, offer right first so he isnt starving when you put him on the left
  3. Have you tried holding him football style when hes on the left so hes cuddled in the same way round to when hes on the right? Again, have you tried lying down and other different positions?

And dont worry if it still isnt working, i have a friend who sucessfully breastfed from one boob as her dc wouldnt feed from the other one :)
