Your*

kkfairybrains · 08/06/2012 19:23

Oh crap! The ones I've looked at have a 99-100% rating but then you think they could do that themselves! If I'm doing it in just going to have to take the chance and hope for the best!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/06/2012 19:50

I'd take the advice (can't remember who) to speak to a local dressmaker. You could design your own dress for a fraction of the price and have it properly measured

Kids are still up, need to get them to bed I've only just realised the time!

Chulita · 08/06/2012 20:36

Thanks dh I still am very happy, DH is A Good Man :)

kk I agree with finding a local dressmaker, if you were in the south east I'd recommend my SIL, she just did her own dress for her wedding and it looks shop-bought, she's amazing! With a local one you'll be able to get it fitted on you too which means it'll look better than an off-the-hanger one.

mlisc I'm in the shit, S didn't have a nap and creamed in at 5pm, he was in bed sound asleep at 5.30 with no tea in his belly not going to be a good Saturday (not that it ever is mind you)

Trudyla · 08/06/2012 20:59

Thanks for the bum wiping advice. (Now there's a sentence I never thought I'd say without sarcasm playing at least a minor role.)

kk It's about getting a mortgage in England. After getting up our hopes, today has been a major downfall and it's not looking good. Sad Oh well, who knows what it might be good for.

No wedding dress advice from me I'm afraid. I will have to cross that bridge soon, too, not before I have lost a maffisse amount of weight though.

I've done the Shred for a week now and guess what, I have put on 2 pounds. WTF?

mlic I have that a lot with the children. They are fine for ages and as soon as they see me, the whining/screaming/crying/tantruming starts. Makes me feel so special Hmm

Little F went to bed with 39.2 fever. Poor little mite. He has no other symptoms but bulging gums so I guess it's teething. M never had a fever with her teeth though. Did one of yours? Am a bit worried cos he is soo, soo hot yet still so tiny Sad

viks Word of advice - mlic look away now- stop bloody ironing! Unless it's stuff for your DH's work, who cares? I never iron anything other than work stuff, when I used to work and I've never got told that I'm scruffy. And that's not because everyone's polite. I got told that people can't believe that DP is 11 years older than me, they would have thought I'm older Shock I don't think Germans really care much about tact or the fact that I cried myself to sleep for two nights after that But seriously, ironing-shmironing. Just fold it neatly and put it away. I have trouble enough keeping on top of the washing.

What have you all planned for the weekend? We're gonna have a BBQ with some friends in the park tomorrow. Luckily it's only two minute walk away, so if F is still unwell we can take it in turns staying home with him.

Why is it that they have to stay inside with a fever anyway if it's the same temperature outside?

Good evening one and all.

Chulita · 08/06/2012 21:02

L always got fever/cold when teething, have you tried one of those amber necklaces? I didn't need to with S and hadn't heard of them with L but I know lots and lots of people who swear by them, mlisc and cake included I believe (?)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/06/2012 21:28

I don't swear by them to be honest but I think they look pretty my two have both suffered dreadfully with teething and I think when they're like that you'll give anything a whirl. E stopped wearing his in the New Year but recently asked for it back on again so has been wearing it for a week or two despite the fact he has all his teeth and has done for ages Confused

So yes Trudy, my two have had fevers/vomitting/infections with teething. They're awful. W has broke a tooth on Monday night and today is the first day he hasn't needed calpol 3x daily. I also think last month's unshiftable chest infection was triggered by a low immunity due to teething too. But I've never kept him indoors with it, I've just carried on doing the usual.

Don't envy you that scenario chul! My boys were asleep by about 8.10pm. Let's see what time they jump out of bed int he morning

Back to low carbing then dh walked in tonight with a bottle of wine, crisps and onion rings. Bye bye diet.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/06/2012 21:59

Have you seen The Lives Of Others wss? I watched it last night - it's mad to think things were like that so few years ago (German film, pre Berlin wall demolision) It really wasn't long ago at all. Anyways, quite good (inho)

I'm after book reviews if anyone has any? I hate romcom, always think 'that would never happen' throughout crime/mystery book and despise horror. Anything left that's worth readng? Wink

memphis83 · 08/06/2012 23:37

Kk, my friends bridemaids dresses arrived yesterday from china, she said they will look great for wedding but stitching isnt the best, she ordered the size bigger up they can be altered here to a great quality.
We work in the haberdashery trade and there is only one british lace maker in uk so chances are it would made in china anyway.
I want a 50s tea dress so cut below the knee with petticotes in lace with straps but that will probably change once i get into shops!
Will post properly tomorrow i cant use this new bloody phone

Woodlands · 09/06/2012 00:17

evening all! I read somewhere that at this age you get either naptimes or evenings and it's so true. Despite J being shattered after nursery today he didn't go to sleep till 9.30pm (we first put him down at 7.30). I don't know what will happen next time we want a babysitter.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 06:47

I think I've had a slight breakthrough with D. He was napping at 11ish for an hour or so but then taking foooorever to go to sleep at night. Then I read on here that having a slightly later nap I.e half 12 is better because the time between nap and bedtime isn't too much. So tried it yesterday and he actually went down within about 20 mins (it was 50 the night befor last grr!)

Going to try and stick to that, I think he def does still need a nap in the day, otherwise he's hyper at bedtime or he'll crash at 3pm.

WhatSheSaid · 09/06/2012 07:23

Days without naps more and more common here - probably 5 days out of 7.

mlisc - will put that film on my list - sounds like the kind of film I like.

Just back from party for friend's dh's 40th - all the kids ran riot round the garden - dh drove so I'm pleasantly pissed.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 09/06/2012 07:35

W had a 5 min sleep in the car at lunchtime yesterday, went to sleep at 8.10pm and up at 7.10am. Sounds good but I had hoped for little sleep in, hey ho.

memphis83 · 09/06/2012 07:43

Lyndon was restless til midnight as he didnt have a nqp in day, he as asleep but sleep talking and crying ou then half 4 for his dummy then just woke again

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 08:10

Will they ever reliably sleep through? Or are we still going to be moaning on here when they're at school?

D woke at half 6 but tbf I was awake before then, too excited to sleep.

viksam · 09/06/2012 09:57

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh dh its the big day isnt it!!!!!!!!!!So exciting, i didnt find out with D but did with F because i really wanted to think of baby as baby boy/girl and wanted to prep a bit, obviously he was a boy so my prep was minimal! Good Luck! Please post asap!!

memphis83 · 09/06/2012 10:40

dh looking forward to hearing what the baby is (i reckon its a girl)
I am deep cleaning the kitchen but just stopped for a cuppa, my life is so exciting

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 10:45

It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!! Grin so so happy!

memphis83 · 09/06/2012 10:59

I knew it! Congrats dh and mr dh! Well now you have to go shopping for girly things

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 11:47

We went straight to Next and a bought a 3 pack of pink sleepsuits! So so cute Grin

Trudyla · 09/06/2012 12:52

Congratulations dh! So pleased for you. One of each Grin

We've had an amber necklace thingy for M, though I don't think it ever worked. Will get it out for F and see what it does. Shit night here with high fever. It's a bit lower now but still no tooth to show for it and I'm expecting it to go up again towards the evening.

Me and DP have come up with a great system though. One of us is in charge in the night and the other one can put in ear plugs and not have to do anything. We swap each night and it's fantastic knowing you can go to bed and sleep all the way through. Before that we would both wake up, then decide who's turn it is, so this is much better. I was on duty last night so I can look forward to the coming one. Yay.

mlic I loved The Lives Of Others. Our apartment here is very similar looking including the big step.

Burgers are all prepared. Weather is fine. BBQ, here we come.

Have a good Saturday, all.

PS: What's up with tsc, cake, stac and others? Where are they?

viksam · 09/06/2012 14:29

dh FAB NEWS!!!! I would have said that what ever the out come but im so glad ur excited. I would have loved to have brought some girly stuff, its always much nicer than the boys things.
We have been to the park and had ice cream this morning, why is it you bend over backwards to do something nice and they still cry and moan. D woke in the night, he didnt need any attention but still its a step in the wrong direction back to what he used to do, i dearly hope he isnt reverting. F was a nightmare last night, he woke at 10.20 and didnt settle again till nearly 12, he was just still and quiet but wide open eyes? He had several bouts of very grey poo yesterday so i do think he has a poorly tummy.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 14:39

Thank you ladies, all I've got left to tell now I'd my mum and grab who are coming over this aft I wanted to tell my mum face to face because she do wanted a girl as she's only got one granddaughter and 4 grandsons and the girl is 11 now so not a baby anymore.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/06/2012 14:40

God sorry for the spelling! I meant gran not grab!

Baby brain Grin

Chulita · 09/06/2012 15:43

dh excellent! I told you girls felt different to boys Wink Now you get to buy gorgeous little dresses and skirts

viks it's never-ending isn't it?

If it helps anyone at all, L was a nightmare sleeper but for the last year has been pretty reliable as long as her eczema isn't flaring up - there is hope on the horizon!

mlisc I keep trying to low carb, I'm desperate to shift this weight but I have one cave-in a day at the moment and of course that undoes all the work. I think I just have to face the fact that I'm too tired not to eat cake although I'd pay good money to fit into my pre-preg jeans!

trudy I live in hope of being able to give DH the night-shift, still not possible with the amount of feeds this little one's having.

Last night was a shocker, S was awake around 10 for about 30 mins with a fever, he wanted a cuddle and his fan on, B was up at 10.30 and 1, then S was awake 2-3.20 again with a fever, B was up at 4 and 5 then L and S woke at 6 DH gave me a lie-in til 8 and breakfast in bed. At lunch I put B down and got my head down for a nap, I'd been asleep 10 mins when B woke up and wouldn't be quiet for DH so I got up again and sorted him out, then DH fell asleep on the sofa! He didn't get up once during the night then cops a snooze ... honestly, sometimes I get so frustrated and I wish I wasn't bf so I could give B to DH and sleep the night but I can't so gotta suck it up. grr.
