Bread seems to be my bane for weightloss, so as long as I avoid it (inc things like wraps/pittas/naans/etc) and the obvious things like chocolate and alcohol then I seem to slowly but steadily shed weight. So I guess it's a form of specific low-carbing? 
Since M doesn't really like potatoes, and we're avoiding buying fish/meat at the moment to save money in order to drop our asking price, that leaves a choice of rice or pasta. And pasta cooks quicker.
Good job I quite like it... I have pasta for lunch too.
