Here we go again...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DesperateHousewife21 · 11/06/2012 17:19

I had the implant and it made my periods go a bit haywire. I've never had the injection and don't fancy the coil I know many people who have had it but it hadn't worked/ fallen out of place.

We don't have brilliant options for long term contraception do we?

Chulita · 11/06/2012 20:46

dh I'm with you on the crap options. I don't fancy the coil At All, memphis you're the second person to say they gained weight with it (despite the GP swearing blind that no one's ever complained to her about it) and the injection's a bit hit and miss with periods but that one might be the best option. I'm too unreliable mentally for the pill :)

I've sunk to deeper depths of lentil weavery...last night I crocheted B a rattle. It's a little octopus with a bell inside and I think it looks lovely but seriously, what have I become?!

Off to read in bed for a bit, hoping this 12wk spurt is a short one!

memphis83 · 11/06/2012 21:00

chul it sounds lovely! I argued that i would cut it out if they didnt as they refused to remove it saying it wasnt implant so i cut out my huge amounts of treat and still gained to prove it was that. The patch is a weekly change maybe that would be a good option for you?
L screamed tonight for an hour holding hish ead and tummy screaming hurt! Called nhs direct but by the time i spoke to nurse he calmed down, think he was over tired as once he stopped crying he asked to go bed!

WhatSheSaid · 12/06/2012 02:08

I'm on the mini-pill and it's fine but I'm not sure how long into your 40s you are meant to take it - I'm 41 next week!

Just folded up the high chair and put it away int the garage, think I will sell that and the booster seat now - quite nice to be decluttering some of the baby stuff.

Chulita · 12/06/2012 05:59

Somebody shoot me now or teach S to sleep longer. I've got up with him to stop him waking l, and b was up 3 times. Good thing I don't have anything important to do...

WhatSheSaid · 12/06/2012 07:31

I feel your pain Chul, I was up at 5-something-stupid this morning. Quite unusual these days though, I've got quite used to having a bit of an evening again.

kkfairybrains · 12/06/2012 10:29

Oh chul I don't know how you keep going Sad. The rattle sounds lovely!
I was on the implant before and no lie I used to get my period for 6 weeks at a time. Then it could go for 2 or 3 weeks and back again. I was so tired all the time too do never again! I'm not on anything since E just condoms and I think we're happy enough like that.
First day off in ages today and it's pissing rain! Typical! Don't even feel like getting dressed and E is still asleep. We were late getting home last night as we were down in my mums cos I was working down there and she never even slept in the car!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 12/06/2012 19:15

Still asleep at 10.30am?

Shitter of a day, so so busy. And I am working/going in early tomorrow too, but will have Thursday off. W needed a nappy change at 12.10am this morning thanks to a big stinky poo. It's been a long time since that's happened, I was not amused.

I'm on the pill and although it isn't great, I've decided it's better the devil you know so that's what I'll keep using for now.

Feeling like opening a bottle tonight. Shame I have no wine in :(

Chulita · 12/06/2012 20:40

mlisc how strange, S has just started doing poos around 10pm. Must be something to do with the moon...

I'll have to give contraception some thought, might be a case of trying different things to see what works for me. I don't want to risk weight gain though, I'm shocking enough as it is!

I'm off to bed in a mo, cream crackered I am.

viksam · 12/06/2012 20:59

I have wine in my glass and food in my tummy, im happy for now. I too am on the mini pill as thats the best thing for an older person the doc said!!!!!!cheeky cow!! I have had loads of break through bleeding but she advised to continue for 6 months and hopefully things will settle. Also she said the mini pill has an 11 hour window for div's like me who forget all the time!

kkfairybrains · 12/06/2012 23:54

I'm just too forgetful for the pill and any sort of contraception just doesn't really agree with me. I end up really cranky and very hard to live with!
Mlic she never woke until 11.10am! I had to check on her to make sure she was breathing! She just looked so comfy! It was probably after not being in her own bed for 2 nights as we were in my mums she was glad to have her own comfort! I don't hold out hope of it ever happening again Grin
We went to look at rings today! Didn't get one though as the one I had my eye on wasn't in stock and tried on another that I liked so going to think about it til Monday.

Spirael · 13/06/2012 09:47

I was on the pill for ages and it was a bit of a mixed bag... Taking it regularly was never an issue for me and it did stop me from being crippled with period pain, but I did slowly gain weight and found it impossible to shift said weight. I'd rather avoid going back to it, I think.

Speaking of weight, two years later I'm finally back to the weight I was before M!! Grin Switching jobs has helped a lot, since I'm less stressed so not as tempted to comfort eat. Helping finances too, as I've had less inclination to just call for takeaway in the evening.

Lugging around a toddler and spending my spare time packing up my entire house and lugging boxes so it looks empty for theoretical prospective buyers is probably helping too.

Belatedly... I have no idea how I got M interested in cleaning Trudy! It's not like we do any unless we have to. DH and I were amused yesterday, as rather than play with her toys she decided to get a wipe and start cleaning the windows in the conservatory. She's a strange child!!

Amusing story - The other day M accidentally (harmlessly) pulled her low-level shelf off the wall in her room. (I evidently failed to secure it well enough. Blush)

This morning, DH was quickly painting over the holes he'd filled, so I was telling M what he was doing and then teased her with "And who pulled the shelf off the wall, hmm?". M looked at me seriously and said "Meow?".

Should I be worried or entertained that she's already blaming the cats? Wink She then proceeded to say "Meow!" all the way to nursery.

Anyone else's LO's saying entertaining things? :)

memphis83 · 13/06/2012 12:32

spirael L's thing at the moment is a few weeks ago he fell on the front and grazed his knee, he was out there with my mum and since then evertime he looks at his knee he says 'oh noooo! Nanny broke it!' it has got to the point where people say hello L how are you and he proceeds to pull his trouser leg up saying 'Nanny broke it' eventhough the graze is long gone! Grin we have also had a few times 'starkey did it' when he does something naughty!, L is also a bit of a royalist, has pointed to every paper/mag with the queen on saying 'ello ween'in the Co-Op this morning he said 'bye ween' to an old lady!
KK what sort of ring do you want? I love my ring, a few week on I still stare at it. Have you let slip to anyone in real life that you have set a date?

viksam · 13/06/2012 13:26

Haha, L is funny! D had a pretend argument wit DH telling him that the flies in the conservatory were spiders, very funny, DH shouting 'no, they are flies' and D shouting back 'no daddy piders!' and laughing his head off!
Went to see a friend with an 11 week old baby yeasterday who is longer and heavier than F!! Scary.
F has a giant cough and cold and we had a cronic night, poor boy. Only just got him down for his first propper nap of the day due to the builder banging around. We are having a door put in from the lobby into the garage, i can just wheen the pushchair into the garage and go straight into the house, it will be soooo much easier.
Unfortunatly my uncle who has been battling cancer for some time has just been told that he has 2-6 months to live, how utterly shit and what on earth do i say to him, i wonder if sometimes its better not to know?? Horrible.
Thats all my news, i wonder if i can get a snooze in??

kkfairybrains · 13/06/2012 14:50

Oh no vik really sorry to hear that Sad. I really don't know what I'd say to someone in that situation. Just laugh with him and try and nmake his time that he has left as enjoyable as possible.,
Memph the one that I wanted first is a traditional style cluster and the one I seen the other day is a halo style. The halo looks gorgeous with a wedding ring and I don't know how the cluster will look until it comes in! What did you go for? No I haven't let it slip but I've been close to it!

memphis83 · 13/06/2012 16:59

vik L calls anything insect like a pider so all ants and flies are piders Grin, so shit about your uncle, my only advice would beis to treat him normally, when my Tris had cancer I treated him normally, never felt sorry for him (well let it show) and after he died his mum told me I was a breath od fresh air all the people he had known for years looks so sorry at him and treated him differently, in the end there were only a handful of us around as they all sloped off or he had dropped them as he felt a martre. Also my dad said once he got the all clear that me going in and being very normal rather than like my sis who hates him all the time but turned into mother teresa was the best thing as it made him snap out of feeling sorry for himself, sorry for long post.
kk I never did put a pic on our page, I will get round to it this week, I always wanted a big bling ring so I was shocked (and so was everyone else) that I picked quite a dainty ring, white gold, a diamond v on both sides of a diamond, wanted it to look like one big ring with my eternity and wedding bands and everyone says it looks like they were made to go together. I told loads of people so when he finally asked they were all about bloody time! and everytime we went anywhere alone they all text expected it! Grin

kkfairybrains · 13/06/2012 17:12

See that's what I Dont want is people expecting it! it's finally getting closer though!

Woodlands · 13/06/2012 22:57

How funny about the ello ween Memphis! J is finally at the stage of picking up new words all the time, I've been looking forward to this stage and it's great fun.

memphis83 · 13/06/2012 23:16

He does love the Ween! I was gutted tonight when i found she visited a town half hour away today L would have loved it.

Chulita · 14/06/2012 22:13

S still doesn't talk so no funnies from him. L called crumpets 'toast burgers' the other day which cracked me up.
Viks that's rubbish about your uncle, i've wondered too about whether it's best not to know...crap
Memphis and kk I still love my ring now, just last night dh was commenting how sparkly it is!
Off to inlaws tomoz and hopefully going for a meal with dh to celebrate 5 years on sat. Haven't been on a 'date' for a whole year, we need it!

kkfairybrains · 15/06/2012 00:14

Aw that'll be lovely chulita Smile. Where will you go? It really does you good to get out together by yourselves from time to time.
How about some pics to the group of engagement rings?! I LOVE looking at them!
Loving all these funny things the LO's are coming out with Grin. E comes out with some crackers too but too tired to even think now! Off to sleep Smile

Chulita · 15/06/2012 01:27

Just a restaurant near the ILs, we'd like to get out more together but babysitters are hard to come by!

WhatSheSaid · 15/06/2012 02:11

Afraid I don't have an engagement ring as we eloped :).

Actually I don't even like my wedding ring that much - I chose it in a bit of a hurry and I don't ever wear jewelery and didn't really know what to choose. I mean I like what it symbolises yadda yadda yadda but I wish I'd chosen a thinner one. It's a thick- ish gold band with diamonds set into it. It's ok really, shouldn't complain.

kkfairybrains · 15/06/2012 09:17

Do you think you'll ever change it wss?
Chulita yes especially a babysitter for 3! When they're all a little older it'll be easier to get someone in. Enjoy anyway

WhatSheSaid · 15/06/2012 09:38

No, I wouldn't ever change it. I'm not bothered about jewelery. And it does have meaning to me so I wouldn't swap it.
