DECEMBER 2005: SETTLING DOWN???????

Hope no one minds but i thought id start a new thread as the last one was so long!!!

HOpe you are all well.
Sweetheart: CONGRATULATIONS on passing the exam! What a massive achievement for you! WELL DONE
George: I have gone through all Aelx-Leighs clothes too and had to sort through all the next age bracket, its so upsetting isnt it!
SCULLY: Alex is also a very windy baby! She is definately her daddies girl in that department IYKWIM
FLUTTER: hows George doing now with wind etc? Did you try gaviscon? fingers crossed fort he flat, bet you cant wait to get your own space again!
EBBIE: how are things with you babe?
Jays: How are things with Harriette??
Nemo? Where are you?? Hope you and kids all ok, how is DH new job going?
After the nightmare i had on MOnday i ended up having to take Alex-Leigh back to the doctors on friday. Gaviscon worked a treat for 3 days and the on Thursday she started vomiting again and screaming in pain. We booked to see a different GP at the surgery who was great and immediately diagnosed REFLUX and has put Alex on ENFAMIL milk which goes solid in the tummy thus preventing her from regurgitating the whole bottle and stomach acid. She seems to be doing ok, still getting some sick but very small amounts comapred to before! Was discharged from Therepy on Friday, therepist said i had worked really hard to start the grieving process and has said she is happy im well on my way and wants me to stay on anti depressants for 6 months. Dh has handed in his notice at work, long story but he is no longer happy there, this means he now has 6 weeks to find himself another job or we will be in a very bad situation!!! Im trying to be supportive but its hard! I start back at work in 2 weeks and am looking forward to finally earning some money again, although what i earn will not be enough to pay bills if DH doesnt get a job!
Got to go as Alex has just woken up from her nap!

Take care all.

HI peeps, nice to read up on whats going on with you guys! I have found a monute to come on and post! DD has a horrid cold at the moment , same as half of England at the mo, and is sleeping next to me on the couch. We have baby massgae this morning at 11 30, and am playing it by ear as to whether we should go. I will see how grouchy she is when she wakes. Also went to a Crainial Oseopath yesterday, who was lovely. She diagnosed a tight diaphram and problems round her temple plates.... sounds ominous i know but apparently more common that we know! Anyway it explains a lot of things, like how she only feeds for 10 mins ( her diaphram is so tight its not allowing her tummy to expand properly and she thinks shes fuller than she is so stops feeding! ) and also when she wakes up she rubs her head and pulls her ears so vigorously i have to restrain her if i see it! apparently giving an indictaion of the temple probs... poor wee thing.Hopefully it will help and calm her doen a bit, it cant be any fun for her crying a the time and becoming so aggitated.. no fun for me either! Anyway i will let you kow how i get on with it.

xx

flutterbee · 09/03/2006 16:09

Ooh Jay your poor little girl, I'm glad you have got an explanation for the feeding even though it does sound like hell.

George slept from 8pm till 10pm had his feed went straight back to sleep at about 10.15pm and then didn't wake up until 7.45 this morning, it's the best he has slept and came at just the right time as I was exhaisted last night.

I went to the Dr's today about my lack of period and I am soooooooo annoyed, the appointment was for 10am with the stand in dr as mine is on holiday. We didn't get in until 10.45am Shock Angry and then she was as useful as a chocolate tea pot.
Firstly she lectured me on having unprotected sex, when I said the we hadn't been as careful as we should have been she stared at me and said and why not. Then she went on to tell me after much huffing and puffing that there was nothing she could do for me she refused a pg test until I'm at least 2 weeks late (wtf) and told me that if the test was negative then if I was in any pain it would probably indicate a problem with my ovaries and I may need surgery (double wtf) Angry Shock Angry

I am soooooo pissed off, I marched out and went straigh to the front desk where I complained about being kept waiting for 45mins with a 4 month old and then complained about her supposed help and promptly made an appointment to see my dr when he returns.

The only good news is that this afternoon I have an achey hollow feeling that could indicate the arrival of my period or it could just be my ovaries about to explode Grin Grin

Anyway we are off on holiday as of Monday, I can not begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to it and the survey is being carried out on the house we want to buy on Wednesday {fingers crossed}.

Hope you are all feeling mighty fine and don't have nasty Dr's to contend with (as if we don't have enough stress at the moment) SH - let us know when DQ responds.

Love to you all xx

georgeandwigglyjake · 10/03/2006 08:51

Hi all,
well we've made it through a hideous growth spurt followed by me waking up with a temp & really sore boobs yesterday. Think it must have just been a blocked duct as it seems to have cleared today.
We are off on hols tomorrow, just in the nick of time as we are both shattered (Ninah, yep, I'm still here knackered and dreaming of a lie in Smile), so off to Cornwall again.
Flutter, Shock at your GP. That is terrible treatment.

Where do you find time to have sex though??? Grin

OMG, just realised that it is a weeks since I last posted - where does the time go????

awayninahmanger · 10/03/2006 10:27

have a lovely time in Cornwall! Smile
what a good idea. Must suggest to dad we make plans to go soon - he usually goes down April-ish and it's a fantastic break, ds will get lots more out of it this time too.

ebbie22 · 10/03/2006 14:55

just a quickie, george ,if boobs still sore go to docs today as an emergancy, trust me u do not want mastitus on holiday....get some tabs as a just in case method xxxx

Hi to all,up to my arms at the moment xxx

georgeandwigglyjake · 10/03/2006 15:21

Thankd Ebbie.

Did think about doing that if they were still hurting today but all clear again (the amount of kneading & expressing I did of them yesterday, doubt they will ever recover mind!!Grin)
Whereabouts does your Dad go Ninah?

scully · 10/03/2006 22:25

You definitely don't want mastitis on holiday Shock Cornwall will be lovely even if it is a bit chilly still. Ninah, we're off to visit friends in Turin, looking forward to a couple of days skiing and a day by the lakes as well hopefully. Just have to survive the flight out there, on my own with both dd's Shock
But dd1 is old enough to understand bribery and dd2 has been an angel for the past 10wks so fingers crossed they'll not test me too much Smile
Visited a friend today who's 6mth old weighs 11kg already Shock dd1 who is 4 next mth only weighs 14kg Shock
Her ds is rather large but very cute though Smile

flutterbee · 11/03/2006 13:22

Hi peeps,

just to let you all know I am not pg again so hang out the banners as another one now would have been a little much for me, and after lots of arguing with the receptionist at the Dr's I am booked in Monday morning for the contraceptive injection Hurrah.

Then on Monday straight after we are off on Holiday I can't wait for the hot tub, I have been today and had my legs waxed and a full pedicure with polish and I have bought some really sexy underwear and nighties, dh won't know what's hit him.

Hopefully George won't play up.

I do have to say I have been so rushed off my feet, I have had no time to do anything and have missed numerous birthdays and important dates what with looking for a job, buying a house etc etc I think I really deserve this holiday and I'm determined to enjoy it.

If I don't speak to you all before then, have a good week xx

ei23 · 12/03/2006 12:04

hey girlies!!Smile crazy weather here today!! its like a blizzard!! how is everyone??im so Envy at those of you who are off on their hols!!Smile i wish i had 1 booked but cash is a little tight at the mo!

gotta fly now guys will check in durion the week!! luv 2 u all xx

sweetheart · 12/03/2006 19:30

Hi all,

I had a nightmare day shoppng today - it took me from 11am until 5pm to find one outfit for my b'day bash next week!!! I am such a heffer at the moment and it's really horrible having to buy clothes 2 sizes bigger that normal!!

Lucas is still doing well - he wakes now once, sometimes twice. There's no sign of him going through but I don't really mind as he is doing so much better than a few weeks ago.

We had our bedroom decorated last week so our house is nearly finished and we've decided to get it values and look at moving - even though i swore blind I'd never do it again!!!

Ei - whilst your b'feeding your periods shouldn't return. I stopped expressing my milk just over a week ago and I still haven't come on yet - although I do have cramp so I don't think it's far away.

I still haven't heard from DQ - I sent her an e-mail a few days ago. George, have you heard from her?

Love to you all, hope everyone is doing well.

awayninahmanger · 12/03/2006 21:19

so what did you get to wear sh? I haven't dared venture into a fitting room yet with all those full length mirrors - respect! I am living in one pair of jeans. I did get my hair cut quite short though, which feels like a step in the right direction. I am having photos done of me and the children tomorrow am - provided hair doesn't rebel, I have lots of slap on to cover the dark shadows, and he doesn't go below the shoulders, I should be OK. House move? exciting! want to know more! I had yet another viewing today so hoping and hoping for news with mine soon.
Scully - hope you have a lovely time in Turin. I'd be quite sanguine about flying with my two at the moment, the littlies are still so portable, I'd be more reluctant in a year or so tbh! As long as you are being met at the other end? and obv no e numbers before or during! Skiing sounds fantastic but can't imagine having the energy even to ROLL down a hill just yet.
George we normally go to Coverack, do you know it? the nearest town is Helston. I love it there, the walks are fantastic and it's lovely for children (although last time Louis did manage to escape into someone else's garden). There's a great beach called Kennock ?sp Sands nearby and a farm where you can feed the calves. They have a spring festival where everyone dances around with bunches of bluebells which dad likes to go down for tho I've never made it for that to date.
Oh btw doctor asked me about periods ei, mine don't normally start til some time after stopping bf so don't worry.

sweetheart · 13/03/2006 19:29

I brought some black trousers, a victorian style shirt and one of those short waistcoats to go over the top.

kangel · 15/03/2006 15:20

Hi all, I've just popped into work to visit so am able to get on the net to say hi quickly.

I hope everyone is well, I haven't managed to catch up on the threads but soon I will be able to join in as we are getting the net at home very soon - hopefully in the next few weeks.....YAY!!!!! Grin

Dylan is getting really big now and people are starting to see the features of mummy & daddy in him which is really nice. He is still a very cry'y baby and has trouble relaxing and sleeping but he makes up for it with his smiles and laughs!! I love him so much it hurts!!.......Oh and am already on about another one!!!

Anyway I must dash but look out for me in the next few weeks, fingers crossed!

Love to all and babies and families.xxx

bonkerz · 16/03/2006 19:12

Hi all, we have been very quiet on here this week.....WHERE ARE YOU ALL??????

Am starting to settle down now i am back at work! Toddler groups every day and then all three girls sleep in afternoon so i am managing to get 1-2pm every day as a rest period for myself although i do find myself pottering around cleaning when i should put my feet up!!
Alex-Leigh is still sleeping through the night. She goes in her cot at 7pm and i dream feed at 9pm and she sleeps solid till 6.30 am! I really cannot believe how lucky i am! She will be 3 months old on Sunday and i cant quite believe it! Where does the time go????
Dh is still looking for a new job! Lots of interviews but no offers as yet and only 3 weeks left till he finishes! Am slightly panicking now as i certainly cant pay the bills on what i earn!
Am out for a jolly good night out tomorrow! Its a friends birthday and we are going for an indian then onto a club where we have VIP status for the evening! Have been quite naughty and got her a gorilla gram to quite literally sweep her off her feet! Not sure how long i will be her friend for after that!

OK am going to watch the soaps before trotting of to bed at 9pm! Hope you and babies are all well!!!
Check in please even if its just HELLO.

We have all been quiet this week! Good to hear things are going well for you Bonkerz. Not much happening here this week, baby is waking once a night but settling well afterwards so I'm not feeling too sleep deprived in the mornings. Would have to say I'm still finding being at home with dd1 harder work, she's a lot more demanding of my time, which I'm still only getting used to, having been working for the past 3yrs. dh and I have an afternoon with friends planned for Sunday, without the girls, so looking forward to that.
Good to hear from you Kangel Smile

Nemo1977 · 16/03/2006 22:13

hello all
have had a bit of a nightmare time with hannah as bonkerz knows[doppleganger...pmsl].
She has really bad excema on her face and also reflux. took h to gps today as gaviscon infant not helping and he wouldnt prescribe anything else as he said he didnt know enough about refluxAngry My gp is rubbish so he refered me to a+e so I ended up spending all day today sitting in the childrens hospital only to be told yes it is reflux and to be refered to the reflux clinic and in the meantime back to gp for a different thing to try. Hey ho if it gets her sorted suppose its worth it. Gp also rubbish re excema and has prescribed oilatum yet again despite H haveing had this for the past month and it making no difference...soo frustrated with him. H also had her second injections today. Cant believe she is growing up so much and how quickly it is going past.

scully · 17/03/2006 09:11

Nemo, have you changed your washing powder? I did this with dd1 when she was a baby and it continues to make a difference with her and she is almost 4 now. I use Surcare, costs a bit more but her skin is so much better for it then using a normal washing powder.
Also, Roiibos or Red Bush tea is also good for it, either drinking it or adding it to a bath (have also done this with dd1, but she was 2 or older by this stage). There are products made from the tea available in South Africa but don't think you can get them here. I'll try and have a look on the net for you.

What a useless gp you have though Shock

sweetheart · 17/03/2006 15:40

Hi all, hope veeryone is doing OK. Not much to report here really, Lucas is still waking during the night but he has improved, some nights he only wakes once.

We are having our first adults only evening tomorrow night which I'm quite looking forward to. It's my birthday so we are going to dinner with 15 of our friends and then hitting the pub. My mil is having the children for the night. Then on Sunday we are having a family meal as it was my dad's birthday this week too. These are my last indulgences before starting weight watchers on Monday Sad Going to the gym and playing netball is just not shifting the pounds so now I have to diet too - it will be a real shock to the system after a year of eating cakes and stuff.

I have treated myself to a new outfit, new undies (proper grown up ones) Grin, new hair, new make-up etc etc etc. Lets just hope I'm not home in bed by 8pm like last time I had a drink Blush

Well, Lucas has woken and it telling me its feed time.
Love to you all

Oh, still haven't heard from DQ - getting a bit worried now!

goldenoldie · 17/03/2006 19:01

Sorry to barge in from the Nov. post-natal group but my babies took part in a psychology experiment at Birkbeck today and I promised I would spread the word.

They are looking for more babies that live within a few miles of central london. See - www.cbcd.bbk.ac.uk/babylab/

Good fun, babies get a university certificate (the first of many we hope!) free taxi, and babies get to help push back the frontiers of science!

TBH - I just love having other people fawning over my babies and agreeing with me on how adorable they are!

flutterbee · 17/03/2006 19:15

Hello one and all, I arrived back from holiday today and feel fantastic I can't believe how much better I feel for getting away from it all. George came in the hot tub with us (we got him one of those blow up seats) and he loved it, I will try and post a pic soon, we had sooo much fun doing nothing and DH must have been relaxed as he has promised me a trip to Laura Ashley if buying the house goes through Grin Grin

I expected DQ to have responded by now and I'm also getting worried, keep trying to get her.

Speak t you all soon, any more news on the meet up??

i'm looking forward to being childless tomorrow afternoon for a few hours and going to a pub that's not child friendly for the first time in ages Smile
your holiday sounds great fb Envy although I shouldn't be too envious, I'm off to Italy the week after next Grin

flutterbee · 19/03/2006 15:01

Yeah DQ has returned, silly woman we were all getting worried.

Now were are the rest of the bloody women who used to be addicted to this site Grin

Our valuation/survey came back on the new house yesterday and everything looks fine so fingers crossed the morgage offer should be here next week and the house should go through a few weeks after that. How exciting

Nemo -- Glad you liked the presents, the rest of it will be sent soon I promise but bare with me as I'm the worlds wort organised person at the moment.
