DECEMBER 2005: SETTLING DOWN???????

Hope no one minds but i thought id start a new thread as the last one was so long!!!

HOpe you are all well.
Sweetheart: CONGRATULATIONS on passing the exam! What a massive achievement for you! WELL DONE
George: I have gone through all Aelx-Leighs clothes too and had to sort through all the next age bracket, its so upsetting isnt it!
SCULLY: Alex is also a very windy baby! She is definately her daddies girl in that department IYKWIM
FLUTTER: hows George doing now with wind etc? Did you try gaviscon? fingers crossed fort he flat, bet you cant wait to get your own space again!
EBBIE: how are things with you babe?
Jays: How are things with Harriette??
Nemo? Where are you?? Hope you and kids all ok, how is DH new job going?
After the nightmare i had on MOnday i ended up having to take Alex-Leigh back to the doctors on friday. Gaviscon worked a treat for 3 days and the on Thursday she started vomiting again and screaming in pain. We booked to see a different GP at the surgery who was great and immediately diagnosed REFLUX and has put Alex on ENFAMIL milk which goes solid in the tummy thus preventing her from regurgitating the whole bottle and stomach acid. She seems to be doing ok, still getting some sick but very small amounts comapred to before! Was discharged from Therepy on Friday, therepist said i had worked really hard to start the grieving process and has said she is happy im well on my way and wants me to stay on anti depressants for 6 months. Dh has handed in his notice at work, long story but he is no longer happy there, this means he now has 6 weeks to find himself another job or we will be in a very bad situation!!! Im trying to be supportive but its hard! I start back at work in 2 weeks and am looking forward to finally earning some money again, although what i earn will not be enough to pay bills if DH doesnt get a job!
Got to go as Alex has just woken up from her nap!

Take care all.

Hello all,
I'm still here and the wiggly one is down for nap.
Flutter, how scary for you both, hope your DH is OK.
SH, glad your nights are getting a bit better. That is the same approach I have with Jake, fill him up to the brim & see how long it wil knock him out for!
Poor Sian Ei, hope she is doing OK now.
I want to see more baby pictures. Has anyone posted more on the picture site? I might go off & have a look & add some of Jake if I get time.
I do miss having lots of time to post on here but it is getting easier by the day I think.
Are we going to have another meet up do you think?

georgeandwigglyjake · 24/02/2006 10:37

Sorry, just read that back & it's a really random list of sentances isn't it!!

Must try harder to make brain work better (anyone else finding they think something and find they have said it out loud???)

Nemo1977 · 24/02/2006 10:46

hello all
how are you doing..

flutter nightmare about your dh fall but the naming ceremony sounds fantastic.

EI hope you and sian are ok.

George is jake sleeping any better?

Bonkerz hope alex is doing well on her new milk

Sweetheart hope your DD temperature has gone and everything is getting back to 'normal'

DQ thanks for the pic of daisy she really is growing.

Hello to everyone else.

Not alot happenign here we keep having this stupid cold bug so hannah and adam both have bad coughs. DH has got a new job starting in 2 wks which means he will be home more and we are going to work on our relationship more and he has also said we may have another baby. Need to get a move on and sort out a christening for hannah as adam was done at 8wks old and hannah is now 10wks tommorow. I cant believe how much they grow and hannah is constantly on the move. She moves herself around the floor on her back which is quite scarey as half the time she seems to be following adam around. I have put a pic of her under member profiles Look what I got in the post if anyone wants to have a look.

awayninahmanger · 24/02/2006 12:09

hello, just a quick hello, lovely to read all your news! gosh it seems so far from whole days of mn that I seemed to manage at work! I visited there yesterday and strangely enough they are managing quite well without me! Whereas I haven't even changed my Xmas name on here yet, well you know who I am
Arianna is a lovely big fat round baby, had injections yesterday and hated them apart from that all well and happy. Still with p - waiting for house to be sold. Maybe the spring weather will hurry things up. I do hope so.
I am big fat and round too but rather less lovely, I do agree with you ebbie, 8 weeks on!! time to get back to brutal realities I guess.
Speaking of which ... I'm being 'called' ...
Oh TC I do like the name Eve by the way
Take care I'll stay in touch as and when I can hope you do the same! x

ebbie22 · 24/02/2006 16:40

am emailing as i type....love to all x

scully · 24/02/2006 19:09

Hi ninah, good to hear from you who mentioned a meet up? I'm keen if anyone else is?
sh, we had dd1 baptised when she was 18mths old, would probably like to do it earlier this time though, so dd2 can't run around the church, alter etc, during the ceremony Mind you, dd1's was in Sydney and it was about 35deg celcius in the shade so that probably didn't help matters.
dd2 and I are slowly getting over our colds, has been persistent though. dd2 hasn't been too bothered by it, very sweet when she sneezes but doesn't like mum investigating her snotty nose though
She's currently making friends with the rabbit hanging from her bouncer whilst I type this, found she really likes the bouncer rather than lying flat on the floor on a playmat. I've become rather good at rocking the bouncer with one foot whilst eating
smelly one did 3 good sized poo's today, have never known a child to put some much effort into them she is funny to watch though
have a good weekend everyone

Nemo1977 · 25/02/2006 17:42

hello all
how are you???????

We had a hellish night as Hannahs cold took a turn for the worse and her cough has gone quite bad. So at 9am this morning I took her to the walk in centre who were trying to decide if she had a chest infection or needed to go to hospital. They decided on a chest infection but if she is no better by tommorow they want me to take her back So far she doesnt seem to be doing any better but then she has been asleep a lot so maybe her body is regenerating. Adam has also still been ill and is saying he doesnt want to go to school on monday..sigh Half of me thinks he is putting it on and doesnt want to go but what can I do. Am going to take him anyway and see what happens.

georgeandwigglyjake · 26/02/2006 12:24

Hello everyone. Hope you are having good weekends.
I'm on for a meet up sometime. I want to see lots more squashy babies I don't know where this has come from you know, was never particularly maternal before!

Ninah, lovely to see you here. Hope things aren't too bad at home & that your house sells soon. How is your DS getting along with Arianna?

Hope Hannah improves soon Nemo. We are having more luck with Jake at the moment, it seems he does like sleeping after all and is pretty well behaved now. spoke too soon, he's off..........

sweetheart · 26/02/2006 19:11

Hello everyone,

Had a very manic weekend. I went out with my sisters yesterday to look at a wedding dress as my sister is getting married - we went for a quiet drink afterwards at which I ended up getting totally plastered and being sick! I am such a light weight now as I haven't drunk for so long - it was very very embarrasing!!!

Today I took dd ice skating so we could spend some quality time on our own together - I fell over and hurt my knees, what a div!

Anyway, I think a meet up sounds like a great idea. I'd love to see you all with your bundles so count me in.

George - I know what you mean about things getting easier. I know it's sad that the babies aren't newborns anymore but I love the fact that I know Lucas' personality now and can identify his cry's and what they mean. His sleeping is getting better bit by bit.

I've always said the first 3 months are a real trial and once your over that hurdle things seem so much easier. We are nearly at 3 months here and I love this next stage we are entering where lots of new and exciting things happen.

Nemo - sorry to hear little Hannah isn't too well, I hope her chest infection is getting better.

Love to everyone else!!!!!!!

bonkerz · 26/02/2006 20:57

Evening all,

Nemo: sorry to hear Hannah hasnt been too well, i hope she is coping better and you can avoid hospital. Fingers crossed for you babe.

Well, what should have been a great weekend turned out to be a bit of a disaster in the end. My sister came up from Basingstoke with her DH and 3 kids. On Friday i got my gas cooker disconnected so i could get my mums old electric cooker connected! Thats where the problems started. My BIL who is normally great and stuff like this couldnt understand why the wall socket that is in plce for a cooker didnt work. On Saturday we ended up calling in an electrician who told me i would need a whole rewireing job to get the electirc cooker working and it was going to cost in the region of £200 not to mention a few holes in my wall etc. Cue me being VERY upset. Ended up asking a mate to call in a favour and get a gas man out today to reconnect the scummy gas cooker again. All in all £70 we didnt have was wasted, DH and i argued big style about money (something we NEVER do) and my guests ended up eating microwave meals all weekend and leaving early today as i couldnt cook the roast that had been planned
On a plus side Alex-Leigh has really settled into a routine at night. Feeds at 8.30pm then straight in her cot, feeds at 4am then sleeps till 7.30 and feeds at 8!
ONE MORE WEEK till i start work!!! Am quite excited really but worried i may not cope like i would like to!! Time will tell i suppose. I must be mad, will be looking after 2x2year olds, Alex-Leigh and also a 4 year old from 3-5 every day! Am looking forward to earning money again tho!

Ok am off to bed cos am knackered (too many late nights chatting woth my sis!)

Take care all.

awayninahmanger · 27/02/2006 12:35

hello again Smile
sorry about your weekend bonkerz - and nemo! how is hannah? hope she is feeling better. There are lots of chest infections around atm, my friend's baby had a short spell in hospital which sounds horrific but in fact he looked so much better once he was in there, was only in a couple of days and is now well recovered. Anyway hope things turn around soon for you, must be a nightmare if Adam is ill too. Hope to hear news soon x
sh what's this about your sister tying the knot? I thought she was a free spirit ... is this something sudden? how exciting! and don't worry about puking I am totally jealous and I simply can't wait for a chance to go and get trollied (preferably somewhere posh on vodka martinis after having my eyebrows done my hair hennaed and losing about a stone - but in reality somewhere local and grimy all down my velour trackies Wink ... - the velour bit IS a joke but hmm, the rest rings true sadly)
George you seem to have this baby thing mastered! lovely you are enjoying life - any plans for Cornwall again soon? Ds is pretty good with Arianna now, tho sometimes he says he doesn't like her, well he says that to everyone, today he was pulling faces at a van driver on the way to nursery unbeknownst to me until he told me he had just 'grumped' at the man in the red lorry .. and showed me the face he'd pulled!
It's getting a bit more springlike, feel like getting out and about again (enjoying it instead of enduring it) not quite time to borrow a tent, but not so far off now. Arianna has grown quite big and strong. We had a lovely weekend with a friend's children, flying kites, on skateboards etc. P's behaviour is very weird atm I am doing my best to ignore it tho. Will keep you posted re house, hopefully the spring will bring on everyone's nesting urge and it will fly ....

scully · 27/02/2006 15:01

Know what you mean Ninah, also hoping when spring arrives someone will want to buy our house as well, and won't mess us around like last time......
Great story sh, also envious, still b/f so can't drink nearly enough to fall over yet Wink Wouldn't mind trying some evenings though Smile
So anyone else up for meeting up sometime soon, other than George and I? Although I'm sure George, Jake, myself, Caitlin and Madeleine could have a lovely time Grin

sweetheart · 27/02/2006 20:16

So then.......are we going to arrange another meet up.

Perhaps we could make it in/around London so it's easy for everyone to get to - what does everyone think?

Perhaps we should start a meet up thread!?!?!?!?

Nemo1977 · 27/02/2006 21:07

hello all
thanks for get well wishes for hannah. They must have worked as she is a lot better, still got her cold but not throwing up etc like she was. So things are a lot better.
Also a good day as our IVA has been approved which means all our debts are getting under control. Lastly DH has a new job which means he doesnt have all those long hours to do. He has trips away but thats fine as we could prob do with the breaks from each other..lol Now he will be home by 5.30 at night and not out till 9 so its fab.

Jaysfirst · 28/02/2006 09:24

morning all, i trust all is well. Quick question for you out there. DD has her injections today and i was wondering when the best time to give her calpol was? half an hour before she has them , an hour, or is it best to leave it till after? I have to be there for 11 10 so doesnt leave much time!

sweetheart · 28/02/2006 09:28

I didn't give Lucas any Calpol before his injections as it will limit how much you can give afterwards. I gave some as soon as we got home and then another dose before bed.

If you want to give her some before hand I'd say about half hour so the effect still lasts for a couple of hours afterwards.

HTH - and good luck (Lucas got a cold after his injections!!)

Jaysfirst · 28/02/2006 09:39

thanks sweetheart.... hmmmmm so...before or after lol.. i think i will gaugue her mood half an hour before we go, if shes grumpy ( she had a bad night) she gets it before!!!

scully · 28/02/2006 12:18

How did the injections go jay? Madeleine had hers at 3pm and only got grumpy at around 7pm that night for several hours, so we gave her a 1/4 of a spoon and she then settled for the night ok.
dd1 wasn't bothered at all by them so this was a new experience for us. Speaking of, dd2 is wailing downstairs, thinks she hasn't been fed in days Wink

Jaysfirst · 28/02/2006 13:16

back, :( poor wee thing, she was asleep at 10 30 so i held of with the calpol. in fact she was asleep when we got to the nurse, couldnt decide whether to wake her, decided against it, obviously she wailed on both legs but to be honest it wasnt that bad, she cried for about 3 4 mins, then went back to sleep, i took her for a nice walk and got some air then bought her home and had a good feed. I did decide to give her some calpol just now though, 2.5 mls. will keep an eye over the next few hours, and if need be i can give her some more before bed at 7! Shes playing quite happily at the mo on her gym mat, making all kinds of cooing noises.... hope i havent drugged her up too much Wink hows everyone elses day.....oooops there she goes, wailing like a banshee.... BBL xxx

flutterbee · 28/02/2006 13:19

Hope all these jabs are going OK, George is booked in for his 3rd and final lot next Wednesday HURRAH. I have b=never given him Calpol before we went but for his first lot I did have to give him some the following day as he was driving me mad screaming, sorted it out a treat. Second lot he didn't need anything, fingers crossed for the same next week.

My life is mad at the moment, we are house hunting as we really need to move and I am putting in so many job applications my brain is spinning, I really need to start work in April otherwise we are going to go under Sad on the plus side we are going on a well earned holiday in a couple of weeks paid for with the money that I have saved from quitting smoking Smile

Lets do a meet up, the sooner the better for me and hopefully a little bit closer this time so that I can make it.

sweetheart · 28/02/2006 16:13

I've started a meet up thread \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=6179&topicid=2330&threadid=150802&redir=6179\here}

Post your name if your interested and then we can pick a date, time and place!

I know the June 05 mothers did a spa meet up once!?!?!?!?!?!?

bonkerz · 28/02/2006 18:44

Evening all,

Alex-Leigh had her jabs today too and screamed for a few minutes. I timed her feed perfevtly though and gave her half before jabs and the rest after whilst we waited to be told to leave (had to watch for reaction apparantly!)
Alex also slept from 8.30pm till 6.45 this morning! Am hoping its not a fluke, we will see!!
Am busy organising my house and myself ready for work on monday! Also had a electrician round who can fit my electric cooker for £60 which is great considering the other electrician told me the socket didnt work and would cost over £200 to fit it!!
Ok am off to see to my angel!

OP posts:
Jaysfirst · 28/02/2006 22:04

Harri screamed from 12 30 - 5 30.............Shock

Gulped down food and gave herself BAD wind of which wouldnt come up, one of her thighs came up like a boiled egg and was very red ( all gone down now thankfully) then come 6 oclock she was smiles and goos. So we did a bath and she was fine then for half an hour after , screams..thankfully she setteled pretty quickly after that and was asleep by 7 30......god what an awful day, the worst one for me so far Sad Still the Calpol seems to be working!! Grin

georgeandwigglyjake · 01/03/2006 10:02

Jake had his jabs yesterday too and apart from crying when they did them he was good as gold. Basically he went off to sleep for the afternoon!
All smiles today too so hopefully will be OK.
I was wondering if b/f helps as he should have got some of my antibodies against these illnesses already.

Sorry yours weren't quite as smooth Jay.

SH........I can't go to a spa, they surely don't let beached whales in!!!
