We've got so good at brooking no argument for no pregnancy complications and sneeze births, we're going for our Phds in big fat babies

too - my friend had the same long feed issue with her ds and she persevered and it all got a lot quicker at about three months.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 09/04/2012 21:02

Envy of the fast feeding babies!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 09/04/2012 21:05

Was advised by MW to feed, then nappy change and feed some more. Think might start doing the nappies before the feeding and see what happens re length of feed.

Biscuitsandtea · 09/04/2012 21:06

Too DS1 used to feed for probably 30-40 mins on the first side and them often maybe 10 mins on the other - can't remember how often at this age but as he got older he could do it every 3-4 hours. I used to be very Envy when we went out with NCT peeps and they'd all feed and be done and dusted while I was getting cramp trying to hold him up and support my enormo-boobs Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 09/04/2012 21:10

I was doing the feed-nappy-feed thing too Too. But I stopped doing it at night because he still didn't take anything off the second side so I change his nappy first so that he's calmer and more likely (?) to drop back off to sleep like a poppet after the feed Hmm. He doesn't seem quite on board with my plan though....

I've also been doing the nappies first in the day at the moment as he's sick if I lay him down after a feed (think this is from his cold at the moment?). But if he wasn't being so sick I'd do the nappy in the middle so that he might take a few minutes off the second boob.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 09/04/2012 21:42

Do you think given the length of feeds that it won't matter if I do the nappy first? Maia is quite often sick when I lie her down after a feed too - which sometimes wakes her up again, and then she gets hiccups. Oh, she's awake - gotta go!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 01:14

Give it a go Too and see what happens?

If it just trimmed the 'snack and stop' bit off the feed it couldn't do that much harm you'd think?

Just fed E and he looks AWAKE now! Eeek! Doing some lovely head-holding-up but this is Not. The. Time little boy! I will be requiring you to go back to sleep please?

Hmmm, might be up for a while methinks.....

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 10/04/2012 07:02

Tried it - made no difference whatsoever that I could discern! Oh well. Last night was better, though. Bean slept from 11.45 - 2.20, fed for an hour and 40 mins, slept from 4 - 5.40 and is hopefully going to go back to sleep now. I put her down 15 mins ago and she is lying in her basket hiccuping atm. I'm playing the radio in the hope that background noise will help her drift off.

Biscuits, Maia spent ages awake yesterday evening between 10 and 11.45 - not feeding, just looking around. This is fine during the day but not at night - nights are for sleeping, Brooking babies!

DH has gone off to work - first day alone!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 07:12

Glad it was a better night Too Smile

E was awake after my last post for ages - possibly until his next feed at 3:30 ish! I tried feeding him again but not hungry, tried rocking him for ages, no change. He would lie there looking around but if I turned the lights off after a while he'd get a bit whiny so in the end I left my light on and just dozed!

He's sleepy now though!

Good luck today Too - we're here for hand holding if required Smile.

DH has gone back to work after Easter here too and it will be my first day with both all day without any kind of nursery / pre-school to share the load - and I have to take my car to the garage so we are car-less. We'll both get there -we're brookers Grin

pommedechocolat · 10/04/2012 07:13

Awful night here due to snotty baby - many , many vomits and bed changes. Dd1 awake at six already her normal box of frogs type self.

Thank god for the Easter chocolate Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 07:16

Aww Pomme - hope you can get a rest later?

Also taking the car in means I have to get up now rather than sleeping until DS1 gets up and then snuggling in bed with him - boo!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 10/04/2012 11:51

Poor you, Pomme! Hope the chocolate is helping Grin.

I am also car-less, Biscuits, but this will be a regular occurrence as we only have the one car. You can do it! So far so good for me...

pommedechocolat · 10/04/2012 11:54

I doubt it! Dd1 doesn't nap and dd2 struggling to feed and really grumpy. Had nice plans for tomorrow too that I think I will have to cancel - boo!

Abbie weighs 10lbs 10oz now I discovered this am which is 1lb 4oz in two weeks which is great.

Plan this pm will be feeding and then a trip to asda I reckon. All excitement and go go go here!!

Good luck you two Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 10/04/2012 16:26

How you doing Too? xx

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 10/04/2012 18:58

Well, I haven't showered, dressed or left the house, but I have napped quite a bit, which is good. DH is home again now and snoozing in front of the TV. M is asleep in her pram. I suppose I ought to have some dinner while she sleeps but neither of us can quite summon the energy to do anything about it yet. Maia has been very good, really. I have confused myself about which boob is due next, though - they feel about the same! How did you get on with your two, Biscuits?

1lb 4 in 2 weeks is great, Pomme! All your hard work is paying off. Is it the tiredness that is making you cancel tomorrow? Sad FX Abbie will sleep for longer tonight and let you get some rest.

HV due tomorrow to weigh Bean! She does seem chubbier, though.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 11/04/2012 14:17

HV has just left - Maia weighs 8lb 3! She is so clever! She's jumped up the centiles to 25th centile. Hooray for excellent growth!

Wailing colic baby last night for an hour or two at about 11pm. DH walked her around on his shoulder for ages and she eventually calmed down enough to feed properly and fall asleep. It was fraught! Still, she let me sleep for 2.5 hours after that, which calmed my shattered nerves. Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 16:57

That's awesome weight gain Too - you and maia should be very proud of yourselves Grin

We've just been to the clinic - E has put on 2 whole lbs in 2 weeks! He's now 11lb 4oz! I thought I'd mis-remembered or worked it out wrong when last week they said 10lb 2oz, but that would mean he put on 14oz one week and then 18oz in the week he's had a cold! He's gone up to the 75th centile Confused

Still I figure this gives me a bit of leeway now for weeks when he doesn't gain as much!

pommedechocolat · 11/04/2012 17:05

Yay! Great weight gain all round! That's the way brooking babies :)

I used saline spray and a sucky thing on Abbie overnight and it helped a lot so I did meet my friend for lunch and shopping which was lovely!

I have pushchair issues again though. I am awful with pushchairs... Need to see if dh can mend it now. Opps..,

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 17:14

Glad you got to meet your friend Pomme Smile

What do you do with the saline drops? We've been using the sucky thing but it's hit and miss whether it works or not.

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 17:15

What have you done to your pushchair? What sort is it?

hawthers · 11/04/2012 17:41

We use saline drops as well which just loosens the snot si it can be extracted or sneezed out.

F has put on another 250g this week hurrah.

Just been packing away f's newborn clothes and its made me feel rather broody. I'm hoping ny baby making days still have some legs, just need to talk DH around now...

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 11/04/2012 17:45

It's the bugaboo bee. I ordered the cocoon so I don't have to use the double all the tune but can put Abbie in it. However seen to have dive something odd and one side of the chair is stuck so it won't go up it down. Then as we were going back to the car park the seat slopped down do Abbie was basically in stroller position at six weeks Blush

I have run over pushchairs before I am so bad with them!

Saline spray is great.

pommedechocolat · 11/04/2012 17:47

Oh my god how many typos?!

Biscuitsandtea · 11/04/2012 17:51

Any recommended brand of saline spray? I fear this may be what we need - I keep finding (sorry tmi) that it gets caught in the snot sucker but won't come out - so it stays in his nose Sad

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/04/2012 18:01

I did a post earlier and it was eaten! Angry

Too I meant to say if she was on the boob whilst sleeping and insistent on it.

I think we need to do some partying at all this fantastic weight gain!

Pomme is it a new bee + or old style? I reckon you need to squirt it with some silicone spray. If it is under warranty then bugaboo should replace. If it isn't I have a bugaboo bee + chassis going spare that I would do a special brooker price for Wink

I am a bit of a pram hun Blush
