We've got so good at brooking no argument for no pregnancy complications and sneeze births, we're going for our Phds in big fat babies

F back to being shouty, sleepy and not feeding well. Gah would like to just stop worrying. Administered calpol and crossing fingers that he'll be ok later.

Glad to hear that other babies ate behaving.

pomme how are you getting on? I've got bath and beds for both the boys tonight on my own. Nervous.

Too - hope it went well with the HV and super news that the heart murmur is gone - Go Maia!!! Was the kidney scan today - I've forgotten what I read - think I have a mushy brain today....

Hang on back when I've re-read and taken notes

Biscuitsandtea · 21/03/2012 18:05

Ah yes - how did the kidney scan go?

Now Hawthers I'm brooking super hard that that calpol works its magic - hope F calms a bit and gets his appetite back. Die he have a temperature?

pommedechocolat · 21/03/2012 19:00

Hi all. Hope f is doing okay hawthers? Dd1 much better this am so she went to nursery so had a chilled day with Abbie. Dd1 a delight post nursery until half six when she a most impressive meltdown. Just put her to bed and now feeding Abbie.

No one had a bath tonight!

Other than bedtime and meal times for dd1 am going ad hoc with everything here for a few weeks. I figure until the feeding settles down there's no point even attempting a dual structure!

Dd1 is 2 on sat and we have lots of family descending for a party so am trying to think of a good tea party menu now. Lacking inspiration...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 21/03/2012 21:34

HV was good - she told me about someone very local who wants to be a bf peer supporter, so I asked her to hook us up. It never occured to me that I might be so lucky as to find mothers of babies the same age as Maia within walking distance - I thought I'd have to join groups 3 miles away or further. HV and MW also told me about someone in the most amazing house in the village who has just had a new baby. I'm going to wander past slowly with my pram and loiter with intent! In a couple of weeks when I feel able to tackle the massive hill on the way home, that is. HV is coming back to weigh Maia again next Thurs.

Kidney scan was good - same sonographer who found the problem in my antenatal scans. She remembered us and was v reassuring. Nothing new to see, nothing to worry about. Hurray! Bean distinguished herself by doing the loudest poo during the scan Blush.

Hawthers, how is F now? Hope he's much better.

Pomme, no bath here either despite good intentions! Oh well, tomorrow will do. What sort of tea party are you having? Scones and fairy cakes and cucumber sandwiches? And birthday cake?

hawthers · 21/03/2012 22:06

Sorry posting everywhere it seems!

I think f is ok. He is so chilled out normally that when he kicks off and is hard to settle it totally freaks me out. I think he had a little bit of a temperature and has the virus that DS1 had. Hopefully he'll be better tom.

too so pleased that the scan went ok.

pommedechocolat · 22/03/2012 10:01

Good news on the scan too! I did some belated brooking on the other thread for her as thought it was today.

Baby poos are good - means that they're getting enough food :)

I have so far ordered a big chocolate caked for dd1's party and some beer and wine. Maybe that'll do?!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/03/2012 18:45

Chocolate cake is always good, Pomme. Mmm. Thank you for the brooking, even if it was belated - it's always good.

Biscuitsandtea · 02/04/2012 18:46

Just thought I'd bump this before it falls off my 'Threads you're on list'....

I miss this thread a bit! Hopefully dream and fish will help revive it/us!

Abbie still feeding hourly

Dd1 was great today though so we all survived!

DreamingOfPeace · 02/04/2012 21:48

She won't feed hourly forever pomme, you're doing marvellously!!

Just popping in pre-emptively... Hi all Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 03/04/2012 10:21
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 03/04/2012 11:17

Pomme feeding hourly is very normal, Abbie is still very little and it will get better! You are doing great and you will come out the other side, where it is easy and convenient to bf. When you go out instead of lugging about bottles and flasks you just pack your boobs and go. Wink

Babies feed frequently because breastmilk is so good it is digested quickly, it is also why some babies can go along time without pooing as every bit of bm is absorbed and used. Is there any local groups you can go to? Search here It might be the rl encouragement you need, and the older children are welcome at ours.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/04/2012 13:01

I wish someone would tell Maia that bf babies can go a long time without pooing. She pooped at me when I took her nappy off this morning! I leaped back and screamed and woke DH up. Blush

Pomme, the night before last and all yesterday was a constant feedathon but last night and today there have been actual breaks of up to 2 hours!

Maia is starting to outgrow some of the Tiny Baby clothes - her legs are getting a bit long for them. Yay! I might go and get her weighed on Thursday at the baby clinic just to see where she's up to. When she reaches 7lb 7 I can put her in a baby sleeping bag instead of using cellular blankets and it would be so handy.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 03/04/2012 13:32

Too it is a slightly older baby 6weeks + iirc. I have a very poopy baby who is currently wearing a reusable as I am fed up the leaky disposables. I did want to wait a bit as the reusables will need a lot of washing with his current output!

Biscuitsandtea · 03/04/2012 13:44

Too E is growing out of the newborn stuff now and going into 0-3. Although to be fair it's all mostly hand-me-downs from his big brother and only came from supermarkets in the first place (their sizes never seem to come up big). And then it's all been washed and tumble dried etc so probably not that big really!

I am liking him being in the sleeping bags though. Smile need to keep my eyes peeled for some bargain 1 tog 0-6 mth ones ready for the summer as all DS's were 2.5 tog as he was in them over the winter. If anyone sees any good deals let me know Smile

pommedechocolat · 03/04/2012 14:58

Thanks purple will have a look at that. Abbie is growing well and in fact she's comfortably in 0-3 now. We just went to sainsburys to get some as I think they always come up huge.
I also know from dd1 that they don't always sleep more or feed better on formula! Dd1 also refused the bottle from anyone bar me and occasionally dh.

pommedechocolat · 03/04/2012 14:58

Sainsburys have 25% off by the way.

hawthers · 03/04/2012 15:06

Hello all sorry not been posting much recently. F sleeping well at the moment. We managed 7 hours a couple if times Shock although back to 5 am wake up this morning.

Hopefully we'll be in for a good week on the weight gain. DH and I thought he was noticeably chubbier this weekend and that is before the 'fat' milk has kicked in. We're still in 0-3m clothes though [depressing emoticon].

Everything seems to have settled down significantly at 3 months and both DS' are on good form (apart from the standard wibbles).

Away at my parents for Easter so hopefully our carefully crafted balance will not be totally trashed!

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 03/04/2012 15:10

hawthers- hello! Dd1 is better by the way, you said six weeks but even at five there is a marked improvement! Her birthday was well timed I think in making her feel special again Smile

Envy of the sleep! Brooking that a trip doesn't disturb anything at all for you.

hawthers · 03/04/2012 15:56

Yey pomme was starting to think I'd given you false hope. The good news is that at 3 months DS1 is back to pretty much where we were before (although he is a bit more 2 ifkwim). He even sat on my lap in preference to daddy today Shock and now spontaneously comes up to ne and tells me he loves me. In fact life is pretty much like the ideal situation as described on the other thread we have both been on!

Biscuitsandtea · 05/04/2012 21:51

Please. Just. Go. To. Sleep

Please?

Go on, just try it? You might like it.....

Am feeling frazzled after 2-3 hours of grizzling (his not mine) which didn't seem to get better whatever we did.

In the middle of which my MIL asked 'has he slept through the night yet?' Hmm FFS he is four weeks old! What do people want from me! I feel sooooo much pressure from people that he should be sleeping through - I'm sure most of my friends' babies hadn't nailed the whole sleeping thing yet Confused

hawthers · 05/04/2012 23:14

oh biscuits bollocks to them. their memories are conveniently short and they forget that their child was a total nightmare and didn't sleep for about 8 years. it will get better my lovely. i've had 7 hours a couple of times but back to a 3 am wake up last night and we are at 3 months - hmm not sure if that is depressing or reassuring. see you on the nightshift later!

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 05/04/2012 23:26

FFS at 'has he slept through the night yet?'! Shock Angry 4 weeks old, people! The best sleeps M has are never during the night.

Maia has just dropped off after being awake for three hours and feeding for a lot of that. My right nipple is feeling raw again - she prefers that side, for some reason. She feeds on the left but gets frustrated and wriggly much faster there. 3 hour feeds are breaking my boobs!
