We've got so good at brooking no argument for no pregnancy complications and sneeze births, we're going for our Phds in big fat babies

No, not yet, another 18 days Though today I feel about 4 weeks overdue and had a completely emotionally unstable breakdown over how I'm too big to do anything and i can't cope any more Blush. In hindsight I'm even more proud of myself BlushBlush

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 12:17

Seriously Ethan, I know you're nervous about the weigh in and are revising extra hard, but you don't probably need to feed ALL the time do you? Really? Mummy will just shrivel up Confused.

Do these babies have a growth spurt at 10/11 days?

pommedechocolat · 19/03/2012 12:42

Kelly mum says 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks and 4-6 weeks I think.

At two weeks and 2 days we starting doing lots of feeding and we still haven't stopped. That's FIVE days!!

pommedechocolat · 19/03/2012 12:43

And also where is the shrivelling up? I haven't lost a pound after post birth weight loss yet. Hmpf.

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 12:48

Ah so I'm allowed a growth spurt now - could be his 7-10 day one? Just a bit late? We'll let him be behind schedule since he came early....

I need to know its a phase......

I've lost 4lbs since he was born - sorry, but then I have shed loads to lose since I was about 2 stone overweight before I even got pregnant

pommedechocolat · 19/03/2012 13:37

... Except to say that I have also booked dd1 into nursery on Friday as well this week as a 'bonus' day.

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 13:38

Thanks for Pomme xx

pommedechocolat · 19/03/2012 17:08

Well done to Ethan!

Abbie feeding hourly. Have done 11 feeds so far today. Will this mean a good night?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/03/2012 21:27

Dream, I can't find the website that said lambskins reduced the risk of cot death. I have found the study you were talking about and have thus freaked out and removed the lambskin from the Moses basket and given it to the dog instead. might also have cried at the risk Bean has been running for the last week It's an old lambskin DH has had since he was at school and so I have no idea what chemicals it might have in it. Pomme, if yours is new, perhaps it's been safety-checked?

Hmm. Maia had a really long feeding spurt this afternoon where she was awake for nearly 2 hours and every time we tried to settle her she woke up again and demanded more food. However, she then slept for 3.5 hours until I woke her up, and only fed for 20 mins before falling asleep. Confused must stop mentalling about the jaundice making her sleepy

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/03/2012 21:29

Blush I meant to say that I wondered if it was a growth spurt! Where is my brain?

Having to wake Bean for feeds is driving me nuts because I wonder how long she would sleep left to herself and I can't tell if she is unnaturally sleepy or not!

DreamingOfPeace · 19/03/2012 21:39

ooh NO too, that was NOT my intention, I'm so sorry.... too tired to write more, but sorry I worried you, your little girl is just fine, fret not :-)

Biscuitsandtea · 19/03/2012 21:50

Yes yes to a growth spurt Too we've had almost the exact same afternoon, well day really! And that includes the bit where they go off to sleep but don't seem properly at rest and then just wake up hungry again. Then all of a sudden he went 3.5 hours - lets see how it goes tonight!

Hope your mw turns up or at least gets in contact to arrange an appt.

Brooking for the Hawthers* household - sending lovely healthy vibes your way.

What sort of poorly is he? (if you want to say).

Remember, F is a brooker good and proper - he'll be fighting this like a good'un.

xx

pommedechocolat · 20/03/2012 13:41

Lots and lots of brooking for you hawthers. As biscuits says he's a strong one.

Dd1 has some type of toddler virus- high temp and even fussier eating than normal but no other symptoms. I'm not sure about nursery tomorrow now which makes me want to weep a little.

I have used my sheepskin on the sofa as a rug for abbie but not at bedtime. Wonder if that's still dangerous better go google it I guess.

hawthers · 20/03/2012 13:49

He's rather sleepy and didn't want to feed earlier although he did eventually trying to ignore that this is how the meningitis presented initially and was really shouty and crying for a couple of hours this morning which is totally out of character.

Been to the drs who can't see anything wrong but can't get it out of my head that we'll end up in hosp again. Godamn tat meningitis has broken me. Have no confidence now although trying to buck up.

hawthers · 20/03/2012 13:53

Ooh pomme DS1 had the same thing last week but his really high temp had subsided by nursery day so I packed him off anyway and he relapsed later in the week [bad mother emoticon]

Have a feeling f might have the same thing but if so worried that he'll be off his food AGAIN.

Biscuitsandtea · 20/03/2012 13:56

Aw Hawthers. I can see how that would freak you after everything you've been through. All you can do is keep a really close eye on him and get yourself back to the doc if you have any more worries. maybe a bit of extra sleep will see him right?

But he's a brooker so there won't be any more worries - I'm keeping everything crossed that he perks up soon though xxx

hawthers · 20/03/2012 14:21

Also I didn't mention earlier that f's shouting and grissling stopped when we were at the drs immediately after he did a huge shit.... Think they might have been linked? Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 20/03/2012 14:25

Fingers crossed that it was just a big poo that caused the upset then Hawthers - hope he can stay well xx

hawthers · 20/03/2012 14:29

Hope so

Do babies have a growth spurt at 12-13 days too? Maia has been feeding like a very tiny, very cute hog all night. So much for the MW saying she shouldn't feed for more than 40 mins max in one go - she feeds for 40 mins, we syringe the EBM in and then she wants back on for 20 mins! Little piglet. Also, she woke up a lot more during the night than usual so she could feed - I didn't have to wake her once and had given up setting the alarm because I was so knackered. She woke up anyway, before the 3 hours were up

Took her into work yesterday and showed her off. Luckily she slept through the whole thing and I didn't have to get my norks out in front of my colleagues. Not sure I'm ready for that yet!

The second blood test showed that her bilirubin levels have dropped slightly - yay! They want her to go back for a third test next week, boo. The nurse or someone tried to get blood from her for ages and stabbed her heaps before the paediatrician took over Sad. Her poor little hand!

MW and HV coming today Confused. HV called and asked if I'd been discharged yet and when I said no, she said she was supposed to visit me between day 10 and day 14 and she can't come tomorrow so it would have to be today if possible. She's going to try to catch the MW so they can both come together. We are now tidying up frantically.

Maia's heart murmur has gone, hurray! Her kidney ultrasound is this afternoon, and I have received a letter saying the follow-up with the consultant isn't until 8 May, so they can't be that worried about her. FX for nothing alarming showing up on the scan.

pommedechocolat · 21/03/2012 11:11

Yay for Maia too! Sounds like she's behaving perfectly on every count! Grr at the rubbish nurse though that must have been horrible to watch.

Abbie went into feeding frenzy mode on day 16 and stopped Monday (day 21) so I think she ran week 2 and week 3 growth spurt together? Maybe Maia has the two week one early?

Abbie managed three hours between feeds for the first time ever yesterday evening! Woop!
