Morning!

itsy you need the MN hair cut! I do it, but I keep my hair very long (bra back length!) tis both easy and looks good. I change my hair colour frequently, but it is currently purple.

aethel enjoy your day!

mopsy sounds like you had fun, go drink some water!

Miri (and therefore Ali too!) is 12 weeks today. I am not mentioning the sleep thingy, just in case!

Coffee, eggy bread and Saturday kitchen now.

mopsytop · 03/03/2012 09:29

My head is still pounding and I just puked up all the water I drank to try and rehydrate. Really fun night but I must remember in future that I can't handle my drink anymore! Got up and fed minimopsy and had to

fusam · 03/03/2012 09:31

I was so excited as Dd only woke once two nights ago but she is back to two hourly feed cycle. Lordly she is cute though gurgling away right now in her cot mobile thing.

Am interviewing a part time nanny for back to work, have no idea what to ask. Any tips? All the childminders around here are booked up, grrr. No idea if we can even afford her.

Re nervous partners. Dh was like this with dd1 it took me walking out and leaving them for a day to force him to take icharge a bit more. He presumed that I knew what I was doing and felt a bit of a spare part (his words). He is an incredibly hands on dad now.
That choc truffles looks delicious.

mopsytop · 03/03/2012 09:33

Oops didn't mean to press post ... I had to put her down half way through to go and puke! Glamorous or what! Hope this doesn't last all day as invited round my old team mates house for lunch with the other two members of our old team (only one of whom still works in our old company now!) and I want to be in good form as we so rarely see each other. At least minimopsy will be a good distraction-they're meeting her for the first time and they all love babies. Have a good Saturday y'all!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/03/2012 09:46

Sad kicked off before half 8 this morning over DP putting choc chips with Darcie's porridge! I was also called a joke and told she's the way she is because of me Sad feel like I've hit rock bottom & then fallen 50 ft further below that.

OiMissus · 03/03/2012 09:59

determined go put on some nice clothes, grab your best handbag and get on a train and have a day off. If you are a "joke", then he won't need you for the day. Tell them qhere you're going, then turn the phone on silent. Take a credit card and buy everyone something nice. Toys n cakes. Even buy DP something. But give yourself a break, you sound like you need it and you certainly deserve it!
Sorry you're feeling so low. X

Figgygal · 03/03/2012 13:21

Well im boy free for the afternoon for pretty much the first time in 10 weeks, dh asked mil to have him this morning as he and fil are off to footie this afternoon and she jumped at chance so im on own until 6ish. Blimey i dont know what to do with myself Blush think ill take my car out, put roof down have a nice drive, might even go shopping without the worry of getting buggy in the changing rooms.

Determined your oh is being vastly unfair to you am sure you realise that, i too vote for you taking yourself away tomorrow if he's so perfect and leave him to get on with things.

seven77 · 03/03/2012 13:31

Where is everyone?

dsm for your DP. I hope you've followed oi's advice and left him to get on with it. You probably do most of this stuff already but is this any use?

msbuggy I haven't had eggy bread for years!

If anyone makes truffles I'd use 4tbsp of alcohol instead of 2, you can't really taste it much. Last night was the first time I'd made them, it wasn't a tried and tested recipe.

Is anyone else's LO getting a lot more vocal? DD actually squealed with delight when DH came home last night. We had a really cute moment this morning. I was holding her and she was looking at DH. She turned to look at me again and was excited to see me, even though I'd been holding her the whole time!

Not much going on here, made 2 steak and kidney puddings, one for tea and one for the freezer. I'm also looking at bumbos on eBay, and worked out how to make it display only local pick ups in my area. Eva is a bit grizzly and doesn't have as much of an appetite as usual, I hope she isn't hatching anything.

HoneyLovesCake · 03/03/2012 14:21

I'm here seven :) but about to take DS out for a long walk. He has been sleeping, eating or grizzling all day; he feels a bit warm to me but the forehead thermometer says he's normal. Hopefully the walk will sort him out.

I bought a bumbo with a tray on ebay which arrived this week. Had to pay postage as there were none near me but still got it for under £20 all in which I think is a bargain. Not convinced Rocco's ready for it yet though; he can hold his head up but it's not very steady & he doesn't look quite right in it. Just uploaded a pic to my profile...we'd just got up & I was showing DP the latest purchase so he's looking a bit sleepy >_

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/03/2012 15:33

Oi I'm going shopping with mum i'n the morning but I'm taking the girls with me. Might see if my bestie is up for going to the movies in the week I want to see muppets The woman in black! Then go for wine after Grin

Sky is currently asleep in her Moses basket, I'm having a bath and DP is downstairs playing on the kinect. Darcie is with my mum for the night so peace for now.

Thinking of putting Sky in her cot from next weekend as her Moses basket is getting a tad small. However, she's going 8:30 to 4:30 feed and wakes at 7ish. Need to wake her at 11pm so she'll go all night.

What age are you all thinking about weaning?

I'm worried about leaving DP alone with the girls as he gets annoyed when Darcie kicks off (fair enough) but when Sky starts to grizzle when Darcie's having a tantrum he kinda growls at Sky Sad and I'm so used to doing everything tbh.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/03/2012 16:22

That's enabling his attitude though. He needs to grow up. Unlike Darcie he is an adult and ought to be able to articulate himself without resorting to petty insults:(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/03/2012 16:52

LMF I know I should just leave him to it as it is enabling him Sad he thinks he can do no wrong and it's all me and I'm pushing him away Sad

Figgygal · 03/03/2012 18:00

Strangely i have discovered that although im back to my normal dress size (12-14) thanks to my new dress and top bought today my feet have remained a size bigger.

Whilst being on my own last few hours with lots of time to think (be irrationally panicked that lo is driving his granny mad) i realised that around about this time last year we were all getting pregnant OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

OiMissus · 03/03/2012 19:37

Hey y'all, had a great day. I was at the hairdressers for about 4 hours, but the boys survived. Grin
Love love love my noooo look! I'll post a pix tomorrow. I got about 4 inches chopped orf, loads of layers put in, all flicking out, reblondified, and ( very exciting) got a v blunt diagonal fringe put in! I feel like a new (v funky) woman!
Due to loss of routine and lack of moisturiser usage, I've felt like I've aged loads these last few months. But with this new hairdo, I feel almost vibrant. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone feeling a bit dowdy/downhearted/scummy-mummyish. Rock on!Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 03/03/2012 19:43

Look forward to the pic Oi

I've added a new pic of Sky on FB laughing at some buttons of all things pmsl Grin

OiMissus · 03/03/2012 19:57

Oh seven, definitely more vocal - chuckles and chattering mainly, but a great squeal tonight. Love it!

Mmmmcheese · 03/03/2012 20:05

I've had a very productive day, did the weekly shop, took DS to a hearing test (passed with flying colours), did a whole load of batch cooking for the freezer (bolognase sauce with hidden veg for DS, broccoli and cheese savoury muffins and a chicken and chorizo risotto), a bit of gardening while DH took both DCs to the park, and now both DCs asleep upstairs for the first time ever in the evening. Don't expect DD to last long, and feels very strange without her down here. If she does stay asleep might get in a quick bath as not had one since befoee I was pregnant! And bfeeding in between all of that, feel like supermum today! Going to make sure I do as little as possible tomorrow and recharge.

For now, going to have a big bowl of ice-cream with chocolate sauce and Baileys :)

Mmmmcheese · 03/03/2012 20:16

Hmm, didn't last, she's awake again.

OiMissus · 03/03/2012 20:27

Go Supermummmm! Hope you got your ice-cream before LO woke up. Smile

LittleMissFlustered · 03/03/2012 21:51

Orry if I sounded blunt earlier DSM, was on the run and didn't want to read and leave:(

Been a long day. Sleeeeeeeep!

aethelfleda · 03/03/2012 23:05

Back from the wedding: my friend looked lovely, her new husband was rather dashing, and it was a great event. Nice and multicultural: she's half Danish so lots of her relatives came over, some of the service was bilingual and there was a mix of UK and Danish elements to the whole thing. Albert was impeccably behaved for most of it: he slept through the service, bawled hungrily for the 2 minutes when they wanted a group photo (and then I dived into cover to feed him). He did his 5-7pm grump as usual but it wasn't too bad, and then I baled out at 7.30pm to get us home at a reasonable hour.

The Tube was a pain as v crowded, but doable (was impressed by how nice people were when they saw the buggy and baby: usually Londoners are a grumpy lot! Baby sling was fine but Albert was still in the buggy snowsuit so he overheated a bit and I had to take his snowuit off.

The buggy was useful to walk him in, we probably could have got away without it (and the Tube would have been easier), but it was the length pf the day that made it worth bringing. Plus the length of the day meant he needed lots of feeds and having to remove the sling to feed him
With nowhere to put him down would have been awkward.

I've now broken in my new shiny patent black 12 hole DMs as I wore them all day today. Ouchy blisters but they looked good at the wedding and are the replacement for my purple ones that really have seen better days.

Right, off to bed. Happy nightshifts girls!

mopsytop · 03/03/2012 23:10

We hit the sack at half eight tonight. And not even for DTD purposes, just exhausted! As a result thus eleven pm feed feels like a 3am one!! Lovely lunch with my old team mates (in spite of hangover!) and minimopsy behaved pike a dream all day-yay! She's babbling loads now. It's so cute! And also lovely cos I feel like she's communicating with us more. Hope everyone is managing to catch some zzzzzz's !

seven77 · 04/03/2012 00:03

aethel glad you had a lovely day.

oi looking forward to seeing the new hair. I must admit I love the fb group, I can never be arsed to get the laptop out to upload pics on here, fb is so much easier!

mmm sounds like you've been very productive, and the risotto sounds amazing. Just take it easy tomorrow.

figgy where does the time go?! I didn't find out until April though, I remember not drinking for my birthday (April 3rd) despite my period being late and a negative test as I was adamant I was pregnant. I hope to get pregnant again around this time this year!

Whoever it was that asked about weaning DD is almost 15 weeks so we could start soon if we wanted to. She isn't that big though (11lb 10oz) so we'll leave it a bit longer. We started weaning DS when he suddenly became very interested in our food, I think he was around 19 weeks. I know they say 6 months is best so we'll aim for that but start earlier if she seems ready.

This will amuse everyone, I ended up buying a bumbo on eBay from someone that lives a few doors down the road! I really must make an effort to get to know my neighbours. In my defence though there is a footpath in the other direction I normally use so I don't often go that way.
