😏 for those who got through another night... Let's take the contraction approach (from one of the positive thinking birth threads: " every contraction brings us closer to baby"..... For us, Every night brings us closer to Proper Sleeeeeep!

(mopsy, click on oi's name and it should go to her profile) glad your LO is OK.

Sequin1 · 29/02/2012 07:53

Morning

Just popping in as attempting to give myself a bit if a valet this morning as off to a new baby group and want to give a false good first impression Grin

Hope everyone has a good morning, will catch up a bit more later

Oh, who was it again I need to PM to join the facebook group, did it get set up?

msbuggywinkle · 29/02/2012 08:08

Morning!

Was supposed to be going to the museum today but the big girls are refusing to leave the house, which usually is illness related. Both seem ok so far, but I'm sure something will become apparent.

aethel gorgeous smile!

mopsy that sounds like decent sleep, hope it continues.

For some reason MN won't let me pm Easily to get in to the fb group. Off to try again.

AnAirOfHope · 29/02/2012 09:08

Morning

Aaron got up at 5am, over 12 hours of uninterupted sleep for him and DH Grin

Hope was sick on my bed twice last night and feed twice.

LittleMissFlustered · 29/02/2012 09:27

Sat having a coffee at the local market chav people watching:)

aethelfleda · 29/02/2012 09:40

Also sat having a coffee, waiting for a friend to drop over. dS's nails are crazy long AGAIN (he keeps trying to scratch himself and I can't stand those scratch mitt cover things, it seems unfair to deny him his hands) and can I find the one pair of nail scissors in the house fine enough to trim them? Can I 'eck!

aethelfleda · 29/02/2012 09:43

Oh and after 7 days of no casual internet surfing (sob!) I'm continuing the general Lenten restriction (way trickier than chocolate!!) but am relaxing the mumsnet thread restriction so I can come on when the DDs are at school. This is cos I spend a loong while feeding still and DS doesn't get deprived of attention if I read while I feed...

KateM77 · 29/02/2012 09:56

I'm also having a coffee. It's very necessary this morning. DS seems to have regressed 10 weeks. Up feeding every two hours last night, and he was twisty and unsettled in between Sad Seriously thinking I'll switch to formula if this continues. Not that it'll be easy to get him to take a bottle. He's refused to take one so far when I've expressed, and when I tried a dummy in desperation he gagged and spat it out.

aethel that's such a cute photo. I wanted to put some new ones of DS up, but can't get the file size squashed down Blush. Oi your link didn't work for me.

I tried PMing easily about the FB group but not sure it worked

AWomanCalledHorse · 29/02/2012 10:50

DH took today off as I had such a bad day yesterday Grin

aethel, we had to stop using scratch mitts during the 1st week as DS gets really pissed off if he's restricited in anyway.

Oh Kate, I hope things improve with DS soon.

mopsytop · 29/02/2012 10:59

aethel, I just bite her little nails off! Gross I know but less chance of my cutting her. I can feel the pads of her fingers with my teeth so can avoid catching them.

LittleMissFlustered · 29/02/2012 11:47

Boob group. Two boobs in and he's finally dropped off.

aethelfleda · 29/02/2012 12:17

Turned on the telly for a bit of background while munching my cheese and crackers (and olives and pork pie), and realised the remote control's AWOL. Telly was playing Gold, so am currently watching Last of the Summer Wine- and the first advert was for Age UK Guaranteed Funeral plans... Don't think I am the desired demographic!!

KateM77 · 29/02/2012 12:31

Thanks AWCH. Sorry to hear you're having a bad time at the moment, hope it's just a wobble. Pleased to hear your DH is being such a good support for you.

On the 6th feed of the day now Sad. I really hope this is a growth spurt. We're going swimming this afternoon, so I'm hoping that'll knock him out for tonight.

NorthernChinchilla · 29/02/2012 12:46

OK, I cheated....

After bugger-all sleep yesterday, DS went through til about 3.15 last night, then topped up 4.45. Which is crap. Because as whined about posted before, my body thinks I've had enough sleep and I'm then awake. And the mind starts whirring....
It's better if he does the regular waking as I sleep through then, if that makes sense!

So after getting up, he went down for a nap at 10 and I hit the sofa, and at 11, still feeling like crud, I took him back up to bed and we got another hour together.
At least he hasn't got a routine I could screw up, but I still feel guilty for spending the morning catching up on sleep, which is stupid!

Sorry you're having a crap time of it too Kate- it's so hard to know whether to persevere or to switch over; would it be worth perhaps trying one bottle in the evening?

How's the arm hawthers, that sounds like it could be a bite. My friend once got a terrible welt after being bitten by a dragonfly, of all things...

Funnily enough I was going to ask what people did with their DC's nails today! DS's get dirty (how? seriously, how?!) but get so raggedy and pointy I swear he files them to get points so he can rake me whilst we sleep! DP won't allow me to go near them with clippers, so we've gone for filing, which just doesn't seem to work, and we've now resorted to mits... any other approaches (thank-you already mopsy and aethel, you've got your mind-reading pants on today Grin)

How are you feeling today AWCH? It's lovely that your DH has taken the day off, and I really hope it's a good one for you all.

KateM77 · 29/02/2012 13:23

Northern Thanks. I think I'll give it a day or so to see if it is a growth spurt, and then will try a bottle of formula in the evening if the frequent feeds continue.

I cut the DC's nails with baby nail scissors, I find it easier than clippers or files. It's still pretty hard work - easiest with DS when he's in his little chair, and I distract DD with TV!

LittleMissFlustered · 29/02/2012 13:42

Best doing nails while they're asleep:)

OiMissus · 29/02/2012 13:47

Another little Edward scissorhands here with dirty nails. I clip them, but have caught him twice now. Sad he scratches himself, so have resorted to scratch mitts at night times only (I actually use socks as mitts just fall off.)
Still no poop here. Although he's feeding fine. He projectile vomited this morning though. Sad he seems quite happy, and he's farting well... Maybe a monster poo is on its way!

NorthernChinchilla · 29/02/2012 14:31

Yup, as predicted, no pattern to today; he's now fallen asleep when he's meant to be having a feed. As he's now going about two hours between feeds during the day- hurrah!- I'm trying to do a basic feed-awake 2 hours-feed-sleep-feed...etc.

Never mind!

Kate- it's only in the past week or so that he's suddenly changed, and is happier going longer between feeds and being put down and amusing himself as it were. Before that my LO was exactly the same, feeding almost every hour. I'm sure it will eventually settle down, it's just a bummer when you can't do anything as you're a non-stop feeding machine...

I've read that you're meant to do that LMF, but I'm so scared of disturbing any sleep time that I daren't Confused

And now he's just woken up, so had better feed him...

NorthernChinchilla · 29/02/2012 14:42

To make up for my slovenly morning I've now made the arrangements to book his nursery place and set up his savings account.

I also hit the kitchen....
Should I get this much pleasure from sorting out cupboards? Problem is, with me and my OH, we're very different: never mind any sort of religious, age, racial, class or financial differences, we have the biggest relationship issue to overcome.

He's a hoarder- I'm normal not.

I mean, who needs FIVE tins of hot chocolate, all open and part used, when you drink it perhaps once every two months? And I know that when I tell him I've had a clear-out, he will actually go through the bin bags and inspect what I'm throwing out, just in case he needs that jar of mint sauce. Which went out of date six months ago.....

MissRee · 29/02/2012 15:30

Sorry ladies haven't had a chance to catch up yet but wanted to have a rant about Mothercare.

Took Freya's buggy in this morning as the wheel was wobbly... it's had to be sent off to head office to be buggered up even more repaired and I have a loan buggy. A rather fetching pink and black stroller. This meant I had to figure out how to strap Freya in the bloody thing whilst she was screaming at the injustice of being rudely awoken for a game of musical chairs. This meant I had to push the buggy, carry my shopping bags (stroller has hardly any storage underneath) AND lug the car seat attachment for the original buggy!!! I must have looked ridiculous. It's going to take 4 weeks to come back as well Sad

Stoopid Mothercare Angry

msbuggywinkle · 29/02/2012 16:56

Tis cold! I'm out at the front while the DDs play with their friends who live over the road. Some kind of stone related counting game is happening...

OiMissus · 29/02/2012 17:07

Poosplosion!!!!!
I have never seen anything like it! What a mess! If we didn't have visitors, Bennybenbear and Ollie who brought white chocolate cookies GrinGrinGrin, I'd have carried him at arms length over a plastic bag to the backgarden where I would have just turned on the hose.
As it is, his bath is now running!
I'm very happy his constipation is over, and hope that normal poops resume. My durty little scuzzbucket little angel!

OiMissus · 29/02/2012 17:32

I left him on his playmat whilst I ran the bath, set up the bedroom with towel and clean clothes, ...and he's fallen asleep. His bath will have to wait til bedtime.

LittleMissFlustered · 29/02/2012 17:53

Took my older boy to get his hair cut, and while I was trying to placate the octopus the hairdresser has created a fucking mullet. I'm fuming. Will be taking him somewhere else tomorrow to get it fixed:(

NorthernChinchilla · 29/02/2012 18:01

Oh Lord... don't know what's worse, the mullet or the poosplosion...

Actually, it's the mullet- poor you LMF, I'd be fuming too.

It is an unaccountably popular hairdo atm, and my OP and I play mullet bingo round our way (1 point for a mullet; 2 points for extras -shaven bits, dying, loads of gel; 3 points for any perming of said mullet; and 5 points for any combination thereof.
Did you have to pay for it?

We had a sock-filler here too Oi, although not on the same scale as yours!
