YBR · 24/02/2012 20:18

kate Yes the LRI.

4madboys · 24/02/2012 20:18

anyway sorry for gatecrashing your thread ladies, tho now i am tempted to stay, its very cosy and friendly in here, unlike the thread in feminism i have got myself embroiled in...

KateM77 · 24/02/2012 20:21

YBR DD was at the LRI under Mr Nour. Everyone there was fantastic, you'll be in good hands Smile

AnAirOfHope · 24/02/2012 20:31

we have gel for Hopes ezema as we went to walk in centre as she had a coughing fit and went red then just lay there breathing rapid, think she choked abit Sad

But yay to gel fingers crossed it works 4 her.

AnAirOfHope · 24/02/2012 20:39

4mad please stay we are nice and some have cake or chocolate Smile

Welcome Scooby

Have a good weekend everyone xx

4madboys · 24/02/2012 21:06

i will never say no to chocolate Grin

i think i shall abandon the thead in feminsm, i appear to not be a true feminist as i didnt mind when at the ultrasound scan for my dd the sonographer said those '3 lines there that look like a hamburger/burgerbun' are you baby girls privates, to show me that she was indeed a girl. apparently the reference to burgers etc is all to do with the american porn industry and degrading to women and its about rape etc and therefore i should be offended at the term being used to describe my unborn baby as its is premature sexualisation and degrading to her.........aghhhhhhh runs away and eats more chocolate.

see post natal threads are all nice and squishy and comfy, i however am done having babies :( and this is my sisters 'place' so i shall leave her be, she knows where i am if she needs me, i have even let her txt me in the middle of the night, i am so nice (smug face) anyway ladies, enjoy your bundles of joy, they grow far too fast :( squidge them lots and remember they will sleep...eventually! xx :)

aethelfleda · 24/02/2012 21:07

Hi scooby. I'm here due to Albert (my DC3) but had a 23 month age gap with my DDs. It gets waaay easier when you're six months in so hang in there!

On day 3 of my tech-Lent and it's mostly OK though I am really feeling it several times a day. It's amazing how these trlephonic devices weasel their way into routine use!

Not 100% sure about Monday Bluewater meet, will depend on traffic really as have just realised I'm picking up one of DD1's friends from school so it's extra important I get back for pickup on time. Will see if I wibble, hope not as it will be great to meet some of you in the flesh!

seven77 · 24/02/2012 21:47

This thread moves so fast, I was on here on Wednesday but still had 4 pages to catch up on.
Hi scooby.
easily have pm'd you about Facebook group. DD has been in her own room for a couple of weeks, we're all sleeping better now.
determined like the new name. Sounds like you're really struggling but you are a great mum. I guess the silver lining is that if she doesn't usually behave that way it is something that's fixable.
air hope you feel better soon and that the gel works for Hope's eczema.
YBR glad you've got a date for the op.
msb hope your DD2 enjoys her ballet tomorrow.

Eva had her 2nd jabs yesterday. I was expecting her to be ok as she wasn't too bad with her first ones, but she was grizzly all afternoon yesterday and has been very sleepy and grumpy today. She also has a hot red lump on her thigh so I'm guessing that's what's bothering her.

OP posts:
Mmmmcheese · 24/02/2012 22:17

I have so much I want to say but too little patience to type with one thumb while DD is feeding!

Will just say welcome scooby, I have similar age gap and ir is hard! Can you eldest have any childcare during the week to make things easier? I find it much easier if I can sleep a bit during the day when DS is at the chuldminders, it is the only thing that keeps me sane at the moment!

DS was a bit sick tonight, hope it doesn't turn into the D and V thing that's going around. I'm a bit of a vomit phobe so get all uptight about illness!

OiMissus · 24/02/2012 22:18

Hey y'all, I am happy to report that I now have a fully functioning toilet. Grin we survived without embarrassment thanks to nearby family's house.
sotired I don't know how you manage without a playroom. I mean, where do you keep your wii/rocking horse/train set/slinky/57" plasma screen (delete as appropriate)? Wink
Liking the new name darciesdetermined! and the fish pie sounded great. I'm not a fan of Jamie Oliver, but his fish pie recipe is absolutely amazing - so tasty!
missbuggy very Envy of your veggie beds. One day I will have a new home complete with more than one toilet, a playroom and space for veggies and chickens.
ybr you sound upbeat about the prognosis and plan. Good for you. I'm really pleased for you, having a good consultant on-side makes all the difference.
Welcome to scooby and easily's Sis.
My news: LO has discovered chuckling and does a special laugh for DH. It's so lovely to see and hear. (note to self: video it!)
We had our 11week 8 week appt today. LO is 14lb 13oz, and very strong. Dr was v happy. Not in the slightest bit interested in me -other than discussing contraception. She's given me the mini pill so that it shouldn't affect me conceiving when we're ready to start again. Advised to wait 9mths until we start to allow my tummy to strengthen up before stretching it again (after cs).
DH is off to a stag weekend in Newcastle this weekend, so I'll be on my ownsome with LO with no plans. (I had completely forgotten).
Who mentioned changing feed routines? I am being drained much more than before. He's not having more feeds during the night, but he'll feed for longer. During the day, he's now draining each breast. (and it's crap when he's then sick -as he always his!)
Have a great weekend all!
I think I'll be cleaning and sorting mainly.

OiMissus · 24/02/2012 22:23

...and feeding LO of course!
When DH comes home from work and I tell him about my day, I always think I've hardly done anything. The I remember that 3/4 of the day is spent feeding.

NorthernChinchilla · 24/02/2012 22:48

AWCH- when I met Plu there it was my first time on the bus too! That was fine; the curtains collapsing on me, the lost contact lense and my mother's crisis about the sodding extension less so... I'm sure you'll make it fine!

Really hope you can make it aethel; I appreciate it's a bit of a trek for you, and I share you horror of being late for anything, but fingers crossed. Let me know of any wibbles and I'll be ready with a haddock... Grin

Glad the op is booked YBR, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your session out!

Hurrah for the toilet Oi!

It's been a trying day... LO has done one of his not sleeping extravaganzas. He's managed a 20 minute one, and then about 4 5-10 minute ones since 8am, so that's it in 15 hours...
And as he's tired, he falls asleep on the boob, BUT without finishing; because he doesn't get a full feed, he's hungry again within the hour; and as he doesn't get full up he doesn't sleep- and by the afternoon he's so overtired he can't sleep anyway.

Gah.

And in my one break, I do what? I Skype my Mum, and discuss Ikea Billy Bookcases with her for the sodding extension FFS!

mopsytop · 24/02/2012 23:33

Hi all! Welcome scooby! why not stick around 4madboys?!

Great news about loo Oi - yay! And I quite agree about jamie's fantastic fish pie - it is indeed fantastic. Prob all that cream!!

Well, minimopsy has been crying for five hours in a row. Most unlike her. Was leaving her cry ffor a bit but then decided I couldn't as she's too small so picked her up but it didn't help. But she did a burp and got nice baby curd on my neck. Yum. She was swaddled so I unswaddled her and she was very warm so took her babygro off and left her in her vest. Put her back down and she lay quite happily for twenty minutes or so waving her arms and gnawing her fists. But now i don't know if she cried cos of trapped wind, being too warm, being swaddled ... She also hadn't eaten too much today, she only wants half a bottle. She had jabs on we'd, cd it still be aftermath? She has never cried for that long or that continuously before (I realise I've been v fortunate!)

OiMissus · 24/02/2012 23:35

Isn't it annoying when they fall asleep on the boob? Because when they do next wake (either of their own accord, or thru winding, or being moved carefully in the direction of a bed), they scream at you for stopping feeding them. Cruel heartless wenches of mothers that we are! Be-atches of the latches.

OiMissus · 24/02/2012 23:39

Having spoken to el doctor about ttc, I have been dreaming of having more than another one ever since. (and spent the afternoon watching One Born Every Minute on catch up) Am 39, have to wait 9 mths to start ttc, ... you may read about me in the red tops when I'm 60 and trying for my 13th. :)

seven77 · 25/02/2012 00:37

mopsy do you think it could be teething?

My Ellaroo wrap arrived today and it's sooo pretty. I've washed it and it's on the radiator, can't wait to work out what to do try it. DS's friend has croup. I told DS he's poorly and he thought he was going to die :( (I told him a couple of weeks ago Nanny's cat was poorly then had to tell him it had died :()

OP posts:
SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 25/02/2012 03:29

don't know if there's something in the air mopsy, but ds2 has also been very shouty for the last 24 hours. my normally happy, calm boy has, at times, been inconsolable. if he falls asleep on the breast, he's happy, but if awake, really crying, and, for once, he carries on crying even when picked up (although for some reason he was slightly better when I was standing up, as soon as I sat down, he'd start up again). On the school run yesterday afternoon a friend said he might be teething as hs lower gum looked a bit white to her (well it didn't to me), so tried some teething gel. Not sure if that was it or it was the new taste, but he immediately stopped crying for a bit.we have both the calpol one and a dentinox one. They both say they can be given every 20 min and have the same active ingredients, but while the calpol one saysonly use a maximum of 6 times a day, the other one doesn't mention it.

he's just had 5hours sleep (hooray), and hopefully normal service might resume and he'll get a couple more peaceful hours tonight, rather than starting crying again s oon. #i know I've been very lucky so far as he hasn'tbeen a particularly crying baby/no colic, so hats off to those of you whose babies are usually more shouty for coping, as I have found it upsetting when he;s obvioulsy been upset and I haven't been able to comfort him.

will gaveto try to find a local hv clinic this week to get him weighed (in my village it's only fortnightly but we are allowed to go to other local clinics if we want to). tried to weigh him on bathroom scales (very unscientifically) andaccording to those he;s jumped up a centile and a half. I know he feeds a lot but i didn't think bf babies did that, I mustbe missing something/have hugely inaccurate scales

aethelfleda · 25/02/2012 04:35

hiya, another screamy grumpy evening (from 5pm to just before 10) followed by a (lucky) 5.5 hour conk put onstead of the usual 4: I think DS has hit the mythical 11 lb weight which is when they often seem to go longer. Down side of this was I woke up covered in leaked milk and I don't think DS is going back down now.

Thanks for the offer of on standbby northern, I will tell another mum at school of my plan and arrange theoretical backup, then check the traffic news on mon morning to make sure the southern stretch is OK. A bit nervous sbout the friend coming as she's lovely (v nice girl, polite and sweet natured) but I don't want her upset if DS gets too frazzled.

oimissus, babies til 60? You are either Madonna and I claim my £5, or you're intending to adopt 13 multi-coloured ones and are Angelina Jolie....go on, confess!! (sering as we've already got Beyoncé on thread...

aethelfleda · 25/02/2012 04:59

Ps Do take some quick phone videos when you can: I've got a few little ones from when the DDs were small: awful quality as from my old Siemens, but worth their weight in gold to see my DD2 as a toddler falling asleep in her food, and one where she sprnds three minutes telling me repeatedly "no nap. No. .no nap. No sleep. Play. " while shaking her head and running around in circles (aged about 20 months). Awww.

LittleMissFlustered · 25/02/2012 07:47

SoTired octopus has jumped a centiles so far, he's a boob man:) I think however they're fed they find their own level:)

Sorry not posting much, working on throwing off virus and stayed out too long yesterday do feel rough. Hope you've all got a good weekend lined up:)

msbuggywinkle · 25/02/2012 07:48

I missed sling natter!? Sad I have three mei tais, one woven wrap, one stretchy wrap, one podgei (similar to a mei tai) a connecta, a shortie wrap, a ring sling and DP has a fleece pouch. We don't have a buggy though so we need lots of different slings for different jobs...honest!

Yes, we have also had the where's the downstairs loo etc conversations. I think in the next couple of years we will be moving in to my Dad's small holding though, he has a couple of outbuildings he is saving for us to convert! DP wants a straw bale house though and I want an Earthship. My Dad is trying to get us there faster, but this house will take a while to sell.

aethel yes! We have a brilliant video of DD1 laughing aged about 6mths and purely by chance I have the first time she crawled on video!

oi I know the feeling, were money no object I would have lots of children. We might have a fourth...

Northern hope you got some more sleep, it is so pants when they won't sleep!

seven which pattern did you get? I have the Christiane, blues and purple and I love it, they do have gorgeous colours.

BJR · 25/02/2012 08:31

Morning all, conversation seems to be moving quickly its hard to keep up :o

I'm in for the bluewater meet up so will hopefully see some of you on monday.

Msbuggy that sounds like quite an impressive selection of slings i'm quite jealous, i was thinking of getting one but DS is such a squirmy baby i'm not sure he'll like it but may give it a go anyway!

Determined, sorry you're having a tough time with Darcie hopefully CAMHS referral will help support you all as a family for her to work through things. It sounds like you're doing an amazing with keeping it all going though :)

DS has his 1st injections yesterday and has been very grotty since, very warm and off his food, also screaming constantly if he's more than an inch awat from his mummy so i've not got much done. He's looking a little more himself this morning though, screaming stopped and waving his arms excitedly at me while he waits for his bottle.

Who do I PM about the facebook group by the way?

seven77 · 25/02/2012 08:59

BJR easilybored set up the fb group.

msbuggy I'm sure I remember you saying Miri would be your last! I have the La Rae wrap. We're definitely having at least one more, though DH would happily have 6!

4 nights in a row now the wee man has slept through to after 6.30 thats a routine right? Grin god we are lucky, dreading the 4 month sleep regression phase now.

I also have to shockingly confess........am thinking of another baby too something i never thought would happen EVER. Ah the power of a cheeky toothless grin eh
