Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NorthernChinchilla · 24/02/2012 09:56

Hey hawthers, how're you doing generally? How's the feeding going?

Glad to hear you got a bit longer LMF; my DS has gone back to his previous 'routine' the past couple of nights- asleep by 10.30pm, waking around 3 for a feed, and then this morning it was 5.45 when he wanted his next one!
Only problem is at that point, my body decides that it's had quite enough sleep, thankyou very much Confused, and so I'm awake for the next few hours, and just start to drop off at half 7...but we get up at 8...sigh...

Sorry to hear you're still feeling ill though.

I made the mistake of leaving a nipple unguarded near DS's face this morning, and he sort of snaffles it in like the 'spaghetti scene' in Lady and the Tramp- made me jump somewhat!

Off on the train to see a friend who's just undergone some serious gynae ops this week, and so is in a lot of pain and can't walk very far. Will take DS to cheer her up Smile

Will PM all with Bluewater details.

Oooh, I love Fridays, it's the weekend, hurrah!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/02/2012 10:48

I've PM'd everyone ref the meet-up- if you haven't received it, let me know, as I've tried doing it as one big message as opposed to individually.

I'll check it all this afternoon.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/02/2012 12:03

Northern I haven't got a PM and would like to know more about this bluewater meet up pls.

bennybenbear · 24/02/2012 12:31

Determined (is this shortening ok?!) like the new name and that fish pie sounds delish!!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/02/2012 12:41

Benny thats fine and thanks :)

AWomanCalledHorse · 24/02/2012 13:04

Determined love the new nickname, it may be me being very easy to amuse these days but Boogie Mites is hilarious!! I would take DS there based on the name alone, hope you had/are having fun!

Quick question for you (& anyone else, I don't eat shellfish but DH does); frozen prawns? Are they good enough to have alone or do they need to be in a stiryfry/pie/etc?

Northen, should be up for Bluewater on monday (don't know if pm will reply to everyone?), will be our first time on a bus, fingers crossed I don't need to fold the buggy!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!

mopsytop · 24/02/2012 14:36

Good name change Determined!

AWCH IMO frozen raw prawns are good on their own, frozen cooked ones aren't. Prawns are overcooked v quickly so by the time you've reheated the frozen ones they're rubbery and flavourless. Raw ones are fine though! As you determine the cooking time.

Lovely walk through the fields w minimopsy on the baby bjorn. In fact it's such a nice blustery day, I think we'll go out for another walk!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/02/2012 14:46

Thanks Smile

AWCH I agree with Mopsy wrt prawns. Yummy with the pink sauce stuff Grin

Boogie mites is brilliant - Sky loved it - smiled & laughed slightly thru it.

Just been to Infant massage too - that was good. Now standing outside Darcie's classroom as massage finished at 2:30 and no point me walking home as would have to turn right back around again, so standing like a lemon on my tod!

msbuggywinkle · 24/02/2012 15:04

Have spent most of the afternoon in the garden, preparing my new veg beds. Miri was starting to get grumpy in the sling so we have come inside for a while, the DDs were being very useful too! I had them moving compost around.

Northern that made me laugh! When DD2 was about 9mths she leaned out of DP's arms and latched on while I was getting dressed.

Woo! figgy brilliant sleep!

hawthers hope you are feeling better about weight gain.

Plans for the weekend anyone? I'm taking DD2 to ballet in the morning while DP takes DD1 swimming, then we are meeting at a tea shop for lunch and going on to PIL's house for the afternoon. Sunday is gardening and housework. I will do as much gardening as possible and the smallest amount of housework I can get away with Grin

EasilyBored · 24/02/2012 15:07

Quick question - squeaker will be 9 Weeks on Sunday, am I horrible if I move him to his own room? He sleeps so badly in his basket, he smacks his arms and legs against the sides and it creaks when he moves so he b wakes himself up, plus it creaks when we try and put him down so he wakes up then. Plus I've noticed that every time I moveor make a noise it wakes him up to. His cot won't fit in our room as it's a huge cot bed. We have an angel care monitor so can hear him and the alarm goes off if he stops moving/being, and his room is, literally right next for, I could be there in about 6 steps if he needed something.

Sigh, I don't know what to do! he's walking up loads and grumbling then going back to sleep, but it wakes me up each time too.

Any advice?

EasilyBored · 24/02/2012 15:08

Apologies for typos, on phone and auto correct has a mind of it's own.

AnAirOfHope · 24/02/2012 15:14

I have been to dr. and i have a chest infection and was given antibiotics. Everyone else booked into dr. on Monday.

Just relised i can't take Hope swimming cos of the eczema i'm gutted.

AnAirOfHope · 24/02/2012 15:18

Easy - Aaron was the same so i put him in his own room at 6 weeks old with the angle care monitor, also in a cot bed. I just couldn't sleep with him in our room. Our house is so small that i could see him from my bed anyway and his room is so small i dont think it made that much difference. If its what you want to do then do it Smile

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/02/2012 15:38

Air Hopefully you'll feel much better soon now you have Anti-B's.

Easy If that's what you want to do then do it. You can only try it.

Infant Massage went well.

hawthers · 24/02/2012 16:05

Both ds' napping at once...... Must get a lottery ticket my luck is in today

YBR · 24/02/2012 16:39

Hmm... should be writing that sermon, but procrastination has won again!

Our appointment with the Pediatric surgeon was brief, but he confirmed it was a hernia and said she'll be operated on; answered our questions. We have a date at the end of next month for the Op, unless something comes up sooner.

Finally organized a meet up with uni friends for tomorrow, including our baby-sitter also looking after friends's DD since theirs fell through. It'll be the first time we've left babyYBR with someone else and gone out, so I guess we'll find out how neurotic we are. Wink

jigglebum · 24/02/2012 16:46

easily freya has been in her own room since about 5 weeks as she is a noisy bugger! DS was moved in his own room at about 3 days!! Bad mother emotion - but I always woke before he did for a feed and still wake just before freya cries but I get more sleep this way and sleep is v i9mportant in my life!!

4madboys · 24/02/2012 17:24

easily like you say the room is RIGHT next door, it is probably less than 6 steps, if it means you sleep better go for it, you can only see if it works. oh and when i send the wilkinet shall i send you my mai tai as well to try out? i dont really use it now, just use a ring sling if i do carry her and we have the proper back carrier for dp to use, plus i just found the ergo i had forgotten i had in the cupboard so i can use that. you said you wanted to try one?

right i am off to tidy up before dp gets home so he doesnt think i have done nothing but mn all day... and the kids are having take away for dinner as i am knackered and ds2 has been really good at school all week Shock he got an 'ace' award Grin this means no washing up!!! happy days. hope you have a good weekend and give that gorgeous nephew a squeeze from me, rudi says that he is 'wileycat or wileykit' from the thundercats! and wants to know when he can come and play, i told him we will sort something for the summer if you think you could cope with me and some of my lot coming to stay!!

KateM77 · 24/02/2012 19:17

easily Go for it. We moved DD at 11 weeks and DS at 6 weeks. It's worked for us - more sleep all round, which is always a good thing.

YBR Pleased you have your surgery date and that the surgeon was able to answer your questions. Will you be at Leicester Royal Infirmary?

Well, I'm living up to the thread title today. DS has had moments today when he's inconsolable. He's also been quite sick , which is unlike him. That plus occasional tantrums from DD have been very draining. I'm now ravenous but can't get out from under DS. And DH is out on the lash for the evening Sad

scoobyd00 · 24/02/2012 19:28

Would I be able to join the group? I've been lurking for a while but have struggled to keep up with the pace of the thread! I have DS 1 who is 23 months and DS 2 who is 10 weeks. Not doing too badly but finding looking after 2 under 2 a real juggling act. My main issue is my DH is about to go away for 3months and my family don't live near by. I think I might need the support of this thread! DH currently away for 10 days and I'm already knackered and it's only day 2. Just waiting for DS1 to go to sleep (he's currently singing happy birthday to himself!) then I'm off to bed before DS 2 wakes for a feed. Living the dream on a Friday night, oh how life has changed!

Easy- just to reassure you, DS2 sleeps in his cot in the room next door as we both sleep a lot better that way.

On the swimming front DS 1 started at 7 weeks and DS 2 started at 4 weeks! Both absolutely love it and DS 1 is so confident in the water. Worth every penny.

Kri5ty · 24/02/2012 19:29

easily i would put squeaker in there with the monitor, i would have moved ours in earlier if we had one... waiting for payday, then he will be in there next week :)

determined love the name!!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/02/2012 19:34

Determined- have PM'd you.

As I've not heard back I'm taking it everyone else received the PM!

EasilyBored · 24/02/2012 19:52

4mad Oooh, mai tai would be brill! Have seen them online. How many flippin carriers do you own?! Well done to Oz! Looking forward to you and the little ones coming over in the summer, haven't told Stephen that he's babysitting yet!

(Er, incase anyone was confused, 4mad is my big sister!)

YBR have fun on your night out!

Air hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you're feeling better.

Kate random grumps are not fun. Even worse when you're on your own.

Right, husband is upstairs doing the evening bottle with squeaker. We've set up his bed with the monitor (and cleared all the junk we seemed to have stored on it) so we'll see how it goes this weekend. If it doesn't work then we'll go back to the basket (or our bed as it usually turns out). We're off out tomorrow night as is DH's birthday on Sunday. My friend and her husband (both massively broody) are coming over to babysit, wonder if squeaker will put them off for life?!

We've been doing the 7/8pm feed and the middle of the night (1am or 2am usually) feed with formula, and I've noticed he's not feeding for as long during the day - he's kind of snacking for 10 minutes every hour and half or so. I dont mind, just switching those feeds has given me a bit of sanity back and I think if anything we'll keep the day time bfing up for longer because of it. However he is starving at 7, he'll bf about half 5 usually, but by half 7 hes wailing for his bottle and last night he took nearly 9oz! (had to go and make more milk up) That can't be good for him surely?! I don't deny him food in the evening, but about 7 he just gets suddenly ravenous. His pattern seems to be; bottle at 7/8, bottle at 1/2, bf at 5/6 then doze in bed with me till I get up (snacking when he wants) and then snacking throughout the day. He's up to 12lbs 11 now, so he's hardly wasting away, but he is def eating less during the day now.

KateM77 · 24/02/2012 19:57

Welcome Scooby. My DD is 22 months and DS is also 10 weeks, so I can fully empathise with the juggling act. Luckily for me DH doesn't have to be away more than the odd night and my Mum is only 20 mins down the road. Good luck with 3 months on your own. I'm sure you'll cope admirably, but pleased you'll have this thread for some support too.

4madboys · 24/02/2012 20:13

i have rather a lot of slings Blush less now as i gave the moby to you, have sold my close carrier, if i send you the wilkinet and mai tai, i will have 2 rings slings, one wrap sling and the ergo left, i think? in my defense i do have 5 children so my sling collection has increased with each baby... but dp refers to them as my 'expensive bits of material'...

enjoy your night out, will try and sort out dates for the summer, maybe i should just bring merryn and one of the boys, possibly dylan? that would be easiest or we could find a cottage or something to rent nearby and all stay there and then just some of us come over, plus stephen woudl then have al to babysit with and not be on his own?!!

i best go post some bday wishes to stephen on fb as i have forgotten to send a card, not quite as crap as the fact i forgot to book the hall for rudis bday, so even tho his bday is 15th march, his part will be on the 31st march as that is the next date the hall is available, i am SUCH a crap mother Blush thats what happens when you have 5 kids tho, things get a bit muddled and frantic!

oh and dont worry about the big feed, he will sick it back up if its too much for him! and snacking all day on and off is a normal pattern as well, particularly as he gets older and more distractable, there is so much going on he will be too nosy to feed as much!
