LO is refusing to be tired tonight. Grizzles one moment, smiles the next. We've had some great chuckles tonight, but now I want some snores! He's wide awake. Sad and he's been awake all day. I put a curly dangly toy on his car seat handle so he even stayed awake in the car! He was awake in the pram whilst dog walking, and in the shopping trolley at tesco. He's usually asleep with all these things.

Figgygal · 21/02/2012 21:46

Thanks for the reassurance ladies I just see it has become more of a problem last week or so and need to avoid it getting worse.

No pancakes for us I returned to Zumba tonight after my baby break lobe love love it so seemed counter productive to hit the pancakes.....though did eat the rest of the Jaffa cakes in the fridge Blush

Stupid question of the day but LO has his 1st jabs on Thursday do they stick them in legs, arms, hip?? Thinking of easy access outfit so can get him done and calmed asap and not good at clothes faffing

plutocrap · 21/02/2012 22:00

I like the cloud idea, aethel! We actually had a PocPoc pancake here! (it's from Abney and Teal, in case anyone was wondering)

NorthernChinchilla, don't worry about narcissism; he probably thinks it's another baby, and is just being friendly! Smile (but I adored the phrase "stoic little potato"!)

Sorry it worked out like that, Mmmcheese; yes, it's tough when the schedule just doesn't allow a stop. Sorry if it was frustrating to be offered impossible advice!

Anyone giving up anything for Lent? I can normally take or leave chocolate, so it's not much of a sacrifice to give it up. This year is a leetle different, though...

aethelfleda · 21/02/2012 22:06

Figgy, they go in upper thighs for most babes, so put LO in a poppered vest and a sleepsuit where you can unpopper the legs.

Right, DS fed down so I'm off to bed. And you may notice me posting a little less for the next few weeks. It's Lent, and this year I have decided to try a tech-Lent: so no Facebook or idle surfing the web! More specifically no smartphone internet use while the DDs are awake. I've noticed the tendency to tippytap during "downtime" with the kids (feeding, tv) and it annoys me so I want to stop casual use and see what happens.

I am "allowing" this MN thread once DDs abed, as it's my only antenatal group and it's so therapeutic coming on here and nattering. Plus I'm still allowed to internet shop for specific items only, and to do education stuff for work. Do I sound like a total nutter?!?! Night all....

plutocrap · 21/02/2012 22:18

Not a nutty thing to do at all, aethelfleda; it does make sense to cut back every now and then. I managed to cut my MN usage using the Firefox add-on "LeechBlock", which was recommended to me by someone... on MN! (Geeky Stuff). Unfortunately, the add-on was disabled when Firefox was updated, so I lost my external enforcer!

Before you go, may I ask which phone you use (as it does sound easy to use...)?

aethelfleda · 21/02/2012 22:34

I'm not gone yet!! And to be honest I suspect I may find this harder than I've planned... i've got an iphone 3GS but have a rather too keen usage of it, use the multiple safari-windows on the device all the time (only 9 windows at once? What kinda limit is that?!) I also have a good data bundle (and home wi-fi) and the ability to type rather quickly with two thumbs (albeit with spelling mistakes!) . I'm also rather a text-phile though with normal spellings as txt spk drvs me potty...

fusam · 21/02/2012 22:36

Back from my hiatus from the interwebs, hope you guys don't mind me barging back. My anxiety ishoos reared their ugly head so needed a break. Good to see the babies are doing well and up to some high jinks.

Just trying to catch up on everyone's news. DD had her BCG jabs today and poor thing was distraught. Will then have proper 8 week jabs next week so all the fun and games are about to start I guess.

aethel Tech withdrawal makes total sense for lent, I am giving up all sugars in food and drink.

plu I know you didn't ask me for the phone advice but I spent the last few weeks reading comparison reviews for my new phone and ended up purchasing the HTC incredible S and it is brilliant. A lot of the HTCs have really good reviews so depending on what other functionality you need they ain't bad. Money saving forum has a really good phone section for comparisons, HTH.

aethelfleda · 21/02/2012 22:38

And I've noticed that dH often taps on his phone when the DDs are about eg checking footy scores, browsing bbc news, and skmetimes this is over mealtimes etc, it annoys me and makes me concerned that they will see, aspire and copy,, which made me think about how much I was checking mine. I' ve noticed that too much telly makes the girls crabby, and have previously done "telly detoxes" myself to good effect, so this is an extension. I may even witter about it on here (as to witter about not checking Facebook on Facebook seems a little self-defeating...)

LittleMissFlustered · 21/02/2012 22:47

Welcome back fusam :)

Social media is a double-edged sword for me. I suspect I should use it less, but it's a sanity-saver at times when it can be the only adult interaction I get:/

fusam · 21/02/2012 22:58

Thanks LMF, I know what you mean. I would love to invent a 'Back away from the Keyboard' alarm that monitors hormone levels via a breathalizer thingymabob Wink

LittleMissFlustered · 21/02/2012 23:41

A friend of mine says she can tell when I'm drifting into a dip in mood as I tend to use twitter more. Not sure if that's true but it's an interesting observation.

Anyway. Lent. I'm aiming low this year. No takeaways. We have cut them right down, but none at all for the foreseeable. We will still hve the odd meal out, but nothing delivered by blokes in souped up corsas and fiestas, or falling apart astra in the case of the dotty old man who delivers for the Chinese takeaway.

Saturday nights are going to hurt!

plutocrap · 22/02/2012 02:36

Naughty new computer restarted itself without my say-so! I' m going to give it a takling to!

LMF, that sounds like a good, and money-saving resolution! Smile

Thank you all for phone advcie!

(flipping new keyboard layout is taking some getting used to! Confused)

girlsyearapart · 22/02/2012 03:07

figgy I love zumba too. The classes at my gym are at 830 though & I find it really hard to get to sleep afterward.
Went to a really good hi/lo aerobics & toning class on Monday though.

Kate that sounds good - it sometimes only takes one decent sleep to make you feel human again ( though more would be good..)

lmf are yours on half term this week then? Thankfully we made our way through that last week.

Everyone having trouble with resumed night waking we have that here too.
H now waking in the night when he was previously going til 5am.
He is also pooing every 3 minutes (it feels like) rather than every 2/3 days like before..

Btw- injections are usually in the thigh whoever asked

aethelfleda · 22/02/2012 03:19
mopsytop · 22/02/2012 03:25

plu I'm pretty sure there is a setting where you can choose not to have your pc restart automatically after updates. You can set it to give you a warning message and then choose to postpone the restart.

Hi again fusam!

Good idea re tech reduction aethel. I've been free messaging my sister a lot and we had to make a rule to only do so during the day because both of our partners were getting really annoyed with us tap tap tapping away/ignoring them. Both of us (my husband and I) are online far too much though, going to have to watch that when minimopsy is a bit older and make sure we all interact properly. We always have dinner together properly but are guilty of going online/little interaction at breakfast so as soon as she can sit up and begin to join in, that's going to have to stop. I suspect we'll find it hard!

mopsytop · 22/02/2012 03:28

P.s. I sometimes give up the boozles for lent but given I just had 9 months of near-abstinence, don't think I'll bother this year ...

LittleMissFlustered · 22/02/2012 04:30
LittleMissFlustered · 22/02/2012 04:59

girls It is indeed half-term, we're always out of sync with everywhere but it means we usually score for quieter day trips:o

Mmmmcheese · 22/02/2012 05:51

Well, she went 11, 1, 3, 5 agaim but managed just to cuddle her back to sleep at 3 without a feed so maybe the force feeding during the day has helped! Unfortunately she swallowed a whole load of air at the 5am feed and I just can't get her to burp so not sure if I'll be getting any more sleep now until DS is up.

plu your post wsnt annoying! Think I will just have to makre more effort to feed her in the day even if its inconvenient with DS. Its difficult to feed her and supervise hgim at playgroups but got to be done!

OiMissus · 22/02/2012 09:21

Some tech abstinence is a good idea, DH and I spend far too much time checking emails/FB/mn for me and twitter/spots news/FB for him. I might have a word tonight.
I may have to rethink our morning co-dozing sessions. LO gets into bed with me when DH goes to work. (he wakes up and needs to be settled but doesn't want a feed -just to be close.) I usually move DH's pillow and put him there on a cellular blanket (to catch any dribbles/spit up). I did the same this morning, but woke to find him sleeping right next to my boob. Clever little sod at finding milk but will have to have a "safety awareness" chat with him.

OiMissus · 22/02/2012 09:44

Oh my DH, he's addicted to that spots news... Hmm

4madboys · 22/02/2012 10:30

jumps in waves at easilybored and sends squishes to the gorgeous Caspar

btw sat next to me on the table i have some clothes and the wilkinet, i WILL find hte instructions for the wilkinet and get them posted this week, i promise, love your ever crap sister Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 22/02/2012 10:37

Do NOT get me started on all things techie... Even with my l-t boyfriend before, I referred to myself as a microchip widow. OH is never off the computer, and has a ridiculously large thing upstairs that he plays online games (second world war fighter pilot stuff) on, with the full headset, rudder, pedals, head movement trackers, and also has his football forum too.
So when he got one of the 3G phones, I was immensely irritated that he could now ignore me by going on the computer whilst sitting next to me in the front room!

I have to say part of the impetus for my joining MN originally was to have my own forum to go on and get back at him. The level of computer usage has been a serious issue in our relationship before, but thankfully has reached an acceptable level.

Crap night here too, made worse by the following:
(Last night)
Me: Ooooh, OH, we're out of nappies in the bedroom; as I'm in bed with DS, can you bob down and get some?
OH: Sure!

This morning, after crap night's sleep and desire to get some more, try to change LO- NO NAPPIES. And so DS pees everywhere, which is a marvellous start to the day Angry

Making minestrone and potting up violas today!

Kitty5824 · 22/02/2012 11:04

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my baby carrier.

That is all Grin

KateM77 · 22/02/2012 11:20

girls it's a good job it only takes one night's sleep to sort you out, because normal service was resumed last night! Full-on grumps all evening until 10pm, then up at 2am and 5am.

I'm taking DS for his first swimming lesson this afternoon. It'll be his first time in the pool, so we'll see how it goes. DD has always loved it, so really hope DS does too.
