Oooh we took the girls to Majorca a few years ago, we had a great time Grin Olivia was about 18 months when we went, she loved it!

We are having a staycation - is there a more depressing word Grin this year. We go away every year but we were very grown up and decided just couldn't stretch to it this year. We've rented a house up the coast for a week, it'll be lovely (trying to convince myself)

It might be from dribbling but its at an odd angle and she's not much of a dribbler when she sleeps. Might just tell her to "walk it off" Grin

wiggs Delilah has that on her face,it comes and goes.I have tried aqueous cream and some baby cream from the body shop to no avail,i have no idea what it is Hmm just sensitive skin i guess.

robin we went to majorca when i was pg with dills,it was lovely. I wore a bikini as its the one and only time my tummy is hard Grin
We are buying a camper van this year and will be off on an adventure for 4 weeks in the summer. We will see my brother in Brittanny first then see how far down we can get and stop when its hot enough Grin we were going to have a posh holiday but then though we may as well use the money for something we can get use out of for ages.

I may do a mn tour and meet up with you all in turn.

Net mums can be a bit middle class and clueless but equally the same on mn if you ask me and some topics are literally not worth having a differing opinion on.Eg-benefits,p and c car parking spaces and disabled car parking spaces oh and buses with buggys on,apparently we should all walk everywhere.I give up.

Emski76 · 08/03/2012 13:54

Ledkr, I am so jealous of yourcampervan! I would love one! You'll have such a fab time touring. Dh uncle and aunt have one and really enjoy themselves.

Majorca sounds nice Robin. I've been looking at holidays but as we're going to EuroDisney in May I'm not sure if we can stretch to another holiday.

In laws are at swimming with Ben and Noahs in bed so I'm chilling and watching OBEM, nd yup, feeling broody! I will not not not have another baby but will be jealous when ny of you have another!

americanexpat · 08/03/2012 13:55

I wore a bikini at 6 months pg in the Canaries. I'm sure all the middle aged Germans in our resort were well pleased. Grin I remember lying on the sun lounger and L going crazy because of the bright sun. Broody? Me? Blush

MizK · 08/03/2012 14:14

ledkr v v envious of your race week and Gold Cup day. Absolutely love racing, its my Irish granny to blame, she taught me how to place my first bet when I was teeny :) are you having a posh new frock for the occasion?
robin Mallorca is lush, you'll have a lovely time.
emski I think you should stick at one holiday or I shall have to shun you from jealousy :) Not long til Eurodisney you jammy dodger.
wiggles not sure about the rash, sounds teethingy but if it persists go and bug the doctor :) I bet doctors love seeing cute babies, must be a nice break from old dears.
Am in a good mood today as going out with DP later, going to a gig at good old Rock City (The Maccabees? Anyone?), we'll go get some lovely Mexican goodness at Las Iguanas first (massive obsession with that place in K household.) So looking forward to it, havent been to a gig with him in a while.
Hi to everybody else, C has started to winge so I'd better go :)

RobinSparkles · 08/03/2012 14:46

Ledkr, we were looking at getting a caravan last year but we're not now. It's ashame because I was looking forward to it!

Emski, Eurodisney will be ace! I love it and I can't wait to take the DDs. ATM it would be a waste because DD1 is a bit scared of rides. We took her to Gullivers during half term and it took ages for us to persuade her to go on a baby carousel! Hmm it's a shame because we took her to Camelot when she was about 14 months old and she went on everything and laughed the whole time!

*When I say everything, I mean the things that children under a metre are allowed on with an adult. We didn't force her on the big roller coaster or anything (not that there are any at Camelot!)

reastie · 08/03/2012 14:50

ledkr that camper van trip sounds amazing. I've always quite secretly fancied getting one of those winnibago type things to go on holiday in as I'm awful at staying in different places and get all itchy sleeping in holiday bedrooms and thinking about the hundreds of people to share the same pillow etc there with me so I take my own pillow on holiday always . But I know how you like hot weather so it will be a long drive south before you stop I feel Wink

blizy caught up re: your dsis - really feel for you. must be so bitter sweet. Your time will come and we will indeed all have a royal wedding styley bank holiday for you Wink

wiggles have you tried rennies for that rash Grin

mizk have a good night out tonight

RobinSparkles · 08/03/2012 14:51

can't remember the last time I went to a gig Sad. Probably about 2003 [old and boring].

Hey, how's this for old fart status? I've applied to be a Welfare assistant at DD's school!

I thought that it would be handy as my mum can look after C for an hour and it's a bit of extra cash.

Next thing you know I'll be growing a tash and getting a perm!

ILovePonyo · 08/03/2012 18:01

Hi all, quick one from me - A's jabs were fine, she screamed of course but was really good, and the nurse was fantastic, doing A's coat up afterwards and saying "I can be nice too you know" Grin

wiggles A gets that too, I put cream on that the hv recommended - johnsons baby moisterising cream, its in a white tube and only costs about £1. Seems to help.

mizK enjoy your date night!

ledkr your holdiay sounds fab, think we are having a staycation too, bah.

Right better go and get ready, am going to my friends for tea and a natter :)

ledkr · 08/03/2012 18:09

mizk We went to Los Iguanas at the Arcadian last Saturday,it was yummy.

Dont be too wel jel of our camper van,we cant afford a very posh one and its as a compromise instead of moving abroad like i wanted to.

reastie Im with you on the pillows and the matress ugh. I also dont put my bare arse where someone else has (the bath) Im a funny bugger. Not even that keen on cinema seats in case anyone has weed or done a wet fart Grin

Um robin is that a posh term for Dinner lady??? Will you wear a tabard? Oh get a blue rinse too. Dd says they are vile at her school they shout and threaten them to eat their lunches Hmm maybe you can be nice and start a trend Grin

blizy · 08/03/2012 19:16

mizk enjoy the gig. It's been ages since I last went to one, in fact the last gig we went to was Idlewild and I was 7 months pregnant.

ledkr I am very jelous of your campervan! dh and i toyed with the idea of hiring one for T in the park and for travelling around the country afterwards. In the end we slummed it as usual in a tent.

tadjennyp · 08/03/2012 19:32

Takes me ages to read all the posts and then find time to post while this molar is taking its time poking through.

Yay to the return of the internet reastie!

Have fun in Rock City MizK Envy

Blizy, I'm sorry your family is so bloody insensitive. Definitely book a holiday and just relax. [hugs]

Congrats on the job Robin! Even an hour a day sounds wonderful. Majorca is fabulous too. We went not long after we were married. Were just looking at the photos yesterday. Gosh I look well-rested pre-kids! Shock

Loving all the holiday talk. It's sunny today here and the snow is nearly melted so not so desperate to get away. Do fancy renting an RV and driving round America a bit though a la ledkr and France! The racing week sounds great too! Not broody anymore, either, well for a baby, but not another child! Grin

Sammy is walking now. Well about 6 steps towards me and he's so excited about it! I think he's trying to say 'chicken' as well.

Better dash and pick A up from school. I did laugh at wiggs' Spanish spelling earlier!

I hope the babies go down well and you have lovely evenings. Dh and I finished watching the Wire this week. We're bereft! Any recs on what to watch next? Pref American series so we can get hold of them easily!

RobinSparkles · 08/03/2012 20:21

Ledkr, I'm not sure it's the same as a dinner lady. I thought that the dinner ladies were the ones that cooked and served the dinner. I'll be one of the ones that stand in the playground making sure that the kids don't get eaten by wolves or something! Is that still a dinner lady? I used to call them dinner ladies when I was little but my mum always used to correct me. Yup, blue rinse booked for Saturday!

I'm not sure whether I've got it yet but I'm doing it tomorrow as the woman who is leaving is off ill.

RobinSparkles · 08/03/2012 20:26

Does it get hot in the summer there Tad? I'm not sure whereabouts you are (my British geography is bad so you can imagine what my American is like) but I used to work with a woman from Massecheusetts (can't spell it) and she said they had freezing winters but boiling hot summers!

Bless little Sammy with his walking! Grin I love when they look so pleased with themselves, so cute!

RobinSparkles · 08/03/2012 20:29

Oh and glad the jabs were OK Ponyo! No more now until 3 and a half! I hated those ones with DD1 as they know what's coming Sad

wigglesrock · 08/03/2012 20:41

Good luck RobinSparkles hope you get it. We used to call them Missus when we were at school Grin. We loved them. Dinner ladies on the other hand were a completely different kettle of fish [shudder], "go on Wiggles eat that lovely rice pudding" "No, I will not, its minging" - flashbacks 30 years later Grin

ledkr its Mr Ws dream to have a campervan, I don't share his love of the open road.

tad I toyed with spelling Ana like that for about 2 mins then I remembered to took my Mum about 2 months to correctly say Sofias name Grin. She was like a small child about it - we used to have the exact same conversation: Whats the Queen of Spains name - Sofia
Whats the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia
Whats your grandaughters name - Sofeyea Grin

Mr W is watching Let Me In - snore, he's seen the original but is a bit of a nerd when films have been remade and he likes to see all versions [yawn]. I feel a compare and contrast question and answer session coming on Grin

OP posts:
reastie · 08/03/2012 21:05

ohh robin I remember the ladies that did that job at my primary school really well - there was one really nice lady and one evil lady - so you'll have to decide before hand whether to be good cop or bad cop Grin . wiggles I have awful flashbacks of being forced to eat cheesy instant mash, and remember asking for a 'tinsy wincy bit' of anything I didn't like they still piled it on the plate though

wiggles maybe your mum shares my apparent lack of being able to pronounce words correctly - I got laughed at by my year 7 class this week by saying onneeeon (onion) and my year 11s used to say I said rezipe (recipe) oddly Hmm . I have a student called matteo and I still can't pronounce his name right and have got embarrassed asking him how it should be - I say mattaaayyyy-o . Oh and btw I've seen the original of that but not the remake, I share MrW's nerdy film gene and want to see the remake. Btw may I recommend the original and remake of 'the next three days' (forget the french original name). Don't let the crowe being in it put you off Grin

tad go S with the walking

reastie · 08/03/2012 21:07

It seems I'm on a btw frenzy there to wiggles doesn't it Blush

tad DH and I enjoyed all the 'fringe' series' thanks to the now dvd guru that is the wiggles, but I guess it depends on if it's your cup of tea. I've yet to see the wire btw.

wigglesrock · 08/03/2012 21:34

reastie I have a desperate soft spot for the Crowe, Mr W really likes him Grin

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 08/03/2012 22:25

Who's the Crowe? Hmm I have visions of Brandon Lee in The Crow now! Grin We loved the original Let the right one in, but our DVD player broke after that! Clearly it couldn't cope with Swedish vampire movies. Grin

We started the first series of Fringe, but it then clashed with Supernatural and nothing competes with spending an hour with Jared Padalecki! Blush

We have winter for what feels like 5 months at least, 2 weeks of Spring and then a summer that can be really hot for 3 months and then a beautiful autumn, Robin. I miss Spring and daffodils etc.

Wiggles, Anna now pronounces her name the American way with a reeaally long A at the front. I have given up trying to say that it's not Arna or Aaaana and let everyone get on with it! Grin at you patiently explaining to your Mum what Sofia's name is!

Hope you are coming through your inspection now reastie. They're so all-consuming, aren't they?

Glad A is better after her jabs now Ponyo. Hope she sleeps well.

reastie · 09/03/2012 08:02

tad it's russell crowe

Right, off to be inspected on barely any sleep as Alice up most of the night. DH took over for a long stretch but I couldn't sleep as he was huffing about down stairs with her stamming doors and swearing (I heard at one point 'I'm going to hit you' Shock he didn't btw). How could I sleep through that?! I just stressed and tried to take Alice from him and he got all proud and wouldn't let me Angry . SO today everyone is shattered.

Anyway, my main purpose of popping on is to give this link www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/a1423469-Weird-things-your-children-love-playing-with as it looks pretty good thread Grin

americanexpat · 09/03/2012 08:50

tad - there's a different way to pronounce Anna? Confused Blush Well done to S on the walking! Arrested Development is good if you haven't seen it. DH and I have just started watching Boardwalk Empire and Community.

I'm sure I meant to reply to someone else but can't remember who or what now. Blush

RobinSparkles · 09/03/2012 09:38

Hope your inspection goes well Reastie!

I like that thread! They have unusual things at the children's centre that you wouldn't think to let them play with - the sort of things you put in "treasure baskets" colanders, pebbles, bits of wood etc.

I remember when DD1 was about 2 and they had what looked like a wooden cup holder and a load of rings. DD spent about an hour putting the rings on and off again Shock. I wished I'd bought her a cup holder that christmas!

ILovePonyo · 09/03/2012 11:54

Hi all, just got back from messy play where A either cried or sat on my lap looking forlorn Hmm She is asleep now, but woke at 1am for a bottle then was crying at 5.45, I got her up but she was all grumpy as she was still tired. Grr. It was like having a newborn this morning, she just wanted to be held and have a boo Confused

Anyway enough moaning. reastie good luck today - hope the lack of sleep doesn't interfere too much. Good thread you linked to there!

robin are you 'dinner ladying' today then? Hope it goes well!

tad ooh I love spring, I'm not a fan of summer as I get self conscious about being fat and sweaty Grin Autumn sounds lovely though. Have you heard of a series called Sons of Anarchy, its american and about bikers, hmm I'm not selling it there but its good for some light entertainment. Plus some of the actors are easy on the eye (but I like beardy men) Wink

Hi everyone else, going to post and run, hope you all have nice afternoons with happy babies

americanexpat · 09/03/2012 12:13

Ponyo - L was the same this morning, wanting to be held all the time and really whingy. He was a bit clingy last night as well but slept through.

DH the bastard making me fat ordered a cake from Sponge and had it delivered to my office. I've resisted opening the box so far and at least half of it is going straight in the freezer when I get home. I saw their subscription service on the Guardian website yesterday and sent him a link (maybe subconsciously knowing he'd order me a cake Grin).

reastie - I hope your inspection is going well. I'm sure you'll be fine, probably running on adrenaline.
