FD yay for new pram Smile

sassy34264 · 16/03/2012 10:14

i was always told not to drink milk when you have an upset stomach - but thats a bit difficult for a baby whose only food source is milk! Confused
hope L and S are better soon.

it must be that time for moaning about dp's cos mine is doing my head in. definately needs a job! he has got a 2nd interview from that one the other day, so heres bloody hoping. fx only prob is, its a working from home job with call outs. groan. Grin

eva will be 5months on sunday, pebble so there is only 3 days in them.
twins were 19 months last sun. isobel has discovered that if she turns round and round very fast it makes her dizzy and she must like it cos she was doing it for about 15mins last night.
chloe was a goody twoshoes, jacob is the sod little rascal, eva is the easiest/least trouble and isobel is the crazy one. Smile she went down a slide after climbing up without me seeing, that is so big it made me gulp when i took jacob down it on my knee .........and she went down backwards!!!

MrsHende · 16/03/2012 10:19

Happy 5 months E!

Enjoy the pram FD - hope the rain stops for your walk this afternoon.

Any ideas how to increase my milk supply? Since I was unwell at the beginning of the week my supply seems to have dropped and L is pulling me and coming on and off at every feed as if she's not getting enough. Any ideas?

FuzzzyDuck · 16/03/2012 11:32

sassy I would've thought the same with the milk but go suggested 'little and often' so a few oz at a time and if she wants more then offer. I made a full bottle this morning and thought I'd offer what she wanted and try again in a few hrs. She took about 5oz which was good then another 2oz in her cereal. I was just worried about the fluids. She will take from a cup but a few drops then she likes to dribble it back out her mouth. She is a lot happier today and no other bad nappys so far. Fingers crossed!!
lp happy 5 months E! It's so scary how fast they are growing!! That's great with the sleeping Smile. One feed a night is fab. Keep it up little E!!
mrsh hope L (and you!) are feeling better. Can't advise about supply but hopefully you get it sorted Smile

Buggy is here and all built waiting for S to wake from nap so I can try her in it Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 16/03/2012 12:04

Oh so exciting for new buggy Grin
Hope all poorly babies and mummies are getting better.

mrsH to increase supply I think you need to express for 5 mins after every feed, I've not had to do it yet but sure I can remember someone saying something like that.

Happy 5 months E

Am so Angry the league cup final is on FUCKiNg mothers day!!! So my mothers day present is to look after myself and dc while dh swans off to football Angry

Mrs browns boys was a great laugh last night, and got a wedding tomorrow so think I'll skip WW meeting this week as I've had far too much temptation! MIL made me a healthy salad fr lunch yesterday it consisted of cold meat, chicken mayo and coleslaw Grin think a McDs might have been healthier

Happy 5 month birthday little E. And happy 6 month birthday to Beatrice (it's so scary to think that the first of our babies is 6 months old), my two will be in 4 days time Sad Smile.

MrsH and Fuzz, hope the LOs continue to pick up.

Sassy LOL at Isobel! Still you wouldn't want to be bored hey? Fingers crossed for DH.

Edward Angry at cup final. I'd take yourself and your mum and the kids off somewhere nice for the day on DH! Grin

Hope everyone has lovely weekends xxx

emmazed · 16/03/2012 12:16

Hey, wow that took a long time to catch up! I went back to my parents for a week (with no Internet). It was lovely being home, lots of cooing grandparents because dh's parents also live close by. I really enjoyed it, had to force myself to come back to the big smoke! I going back soon because my mum isn't well at the moment so I reckon I will be making lots of trips over the next few months.

Sorry about the poorly babies, sounds awful. At least it only lasts a few days (fx).

J is good although he hasn't put any weight on in the last 2 weeks grrr. Hoping that they go through different growth spurts then stops at thus age. He is 5 months tomo, how time just flies. It seems 2 moments ago he was 2 weeks old and I had no idea what to do with him!

As he is bigger I feel he gets more bored with his toys, I liked what you said sassy about not always stimulating him, but he does seem to get a bit whiny after a bit.. I think i will try to put him in his chair with nothing to play with every day for a bit to get him used to no stimulation. He wants to sit up all the time, but can't without help. I reckon once he sits up he will be less fustrated/bored.

FuzzzyDuck · 16/03/2012 12:17

ed It's always typical that these things fall on days like that. It's a joke!! Make sure you get a gift!!! I've never seen Mrs Browns boys but I've heard a few people say how good it is! Enjoy the wedding! I've also fallen off the wagon since the wedding is now off but weighed this morning out of curiosity and have still managed to loose another 3lbs in a wk Hmm. Not sure how that's possible since I've ate lunch out every day oops!!

Third nappy change in 10 mins.. S is keeping me busy today!! Her poor tummy is gurgling away Sad

FuzzzyDuck · 16/03/2012 12:19

Oh yes!! Happy 6 months to little Bea!! Wow!

Engelsmeisje · 16/03/2012 14:02

Thanks for lending a collective sympathetic ear yesterday ladies. Sometimes I just need to sound off and doing it to someone in RL (especially DH) is not always the best idea. So thanks for keeping me sane. Thanks

m was 5 months yesterday pebble. I can't believe he's that old! Just went to see a friend's baby who's 1 month and she's so tiny. I can't remember M being that small.

sorry to hear about your mum emmazed

M is fine if we leave him alone (it's amazing how much amusement he gets from just rolling over Grin ) but if we make too much noise or walk around him, he realises that we're in the room and gets stroppy that we're not giving him attention so he starts whining a bit.

fd glad s is on the mend (poor little tummy Sad ). love the new buggy! M is still in the pram but won't be long before we have to switch - think he only has an inch free above his head!

going out for a drink with the girls tonight Smile

Jnice · 16/03/2012 17:03

ed can you treat Saturday as your day, book a massage or spa treatment? I know it's not the same but you deserve a treat too. Sad

Jnice · 16/03/2012 17:05

ed L is now in the push chair, still bf but now he has 1 bottle day.

Do I have to take a sterilizer? Can I presterilize the bottles? The trip is 3 days.

Jnice · 16/03/2012 17:21

Anyone heard from scheh? Hope she's doing ok.

bilblio · 16/03/2012 19:22

I dropped off the thread it's been that long. Got drawn back in with pictures of pram on fb. We got a firstwheels city elite for DD in red, it's still great for Seth. We've used the pram bit in the house but usually the car seat when out. Rear facing is great. DD always faced us.

Sorry to hear about poorly babies. We're all well here for a change. Seth has gone from sleeping through to making 2 or 3 times a night. Not thinking of weaning for another month but hoping things change then. He's showing no interest in food, quite happy with the gold top and it works. He was 5 months on Wednesday, I got him weighed and he's 19lb 9oz. Just measured him too and he's 72cm! Still following the top line on the chart. How did 2 shortarses get a huge baby?
By comparison DD weighed that at 11m, she's 4.8 and a foot taller than him... i've just worked out if he carries on he'll be the height she is now when he's 2.8!

jnice rather than take a steriliser just pour boiling water on them and let them air dry.
I admit though I don't use bottles and when we start I'll be lax with sterilising. He puts everything in his mouth at the moment sterilized or not.

CheshireDing · 16/03/2012 19:51

That sounds positive Jnice, CBT is supposed to be really good.

P still wakes averagely twice a night but I usually just read threads as it takes ages to type with one hand. Is it normal for babies to still not sleep through at this age?

P has started stroking the cat now but should I wipe her hands every time?, seems a bit of a pita but cats can be manky. What do you do FD and anyone else with cats?

Hope your Mum feels better soon Em
Sorry for those I have missed out - one finger bf typing

sassy34264 · 16/03/2012 20:18

jnice when im not organised lazy i just wash a bottle and then pour boiling water into it, put the teat upside down into the bottle and the boiling water and then pour more boiling water into the upside down teat and leave it for 5mins. then just pour away and use as normal.

FuzzzyDuck · 16/03/2012 20:27

cd yes S has started to take a big interest in the cats! They are so good with her too. She reaches out and grabs their fur/ears/tail but it's usually when im with her. I don't bother washing or wiping her hands. Maybe I should but I just brush them off incase of a bit of hair. She doesn't put her hands in her mouth as much now unless it's to eat poo so I'm not to worried. They are both house cats, only thing I would be worried about is after they have used litter tray but I'm changing it more often now.

jnice yeah I think if you pre sterilise the bottles they will be fine. As someone said, everything is going in the mouth now that I can't imagine it will cause any problems. I sterilise her bottles but bowls and spoons for feeding I only do when I can be bothered. Otherwise it's just hot soapy water.

bilb good to have you back!

Is it time for a few thread? Anyone got a good title idea?! My minds blank right now!!

bilblio · 16/03/2012 20:49

The boiled water thing must be what we did with DD too as we didn't have a sterilizer.

Seth grabs the cats when they sit on the sofa, they're much better with him than they were/are DD. They're terrified of her. I also just wipe any fur off his hands so he doesn't eat it. I strongly believe some germs are good. the ones in our house anyway. Not so keen on other people's germs :o

Other cat news, we found out one of ours has kidney failure, he's about 13. The et says he's living on borrowed time, but we've git some tablets to improve his last few months. It's sad, but I'm glad we've got some answers. He's been weeing everywhere and it was driving me spare, not just on the floor, but on piles of clothes, in Seth's bumbo and bouncy chair, in the box where we keep our shoes, I binned loads of them then soaked the others in flash & vinegar then washed them.
Thankfully we bought a calming pet plugin and that, plus the tablets seems to have stopped him weeing inside... well for the 3 days we've had them, but he was doing it every day.

Sorry rubbish at thread titles.

Bubalie · 16/03/2012 21:08

Hello everyone, I just can't keep up with you lot! I MUST get the mumsnet on my blackberry so I can catch up in the middle of the night!!
Has anyone heard from Scheh - I hope she's ok?!
Fuzzy, are you liking your new buggy? Have you been out with it yet?

I had a real scare last night, couldn't stop shaking for an hour after the event: L has been kind of rubbing his ears and head, I think it's the teething thing. Last night he was doing it all the time while having his bedtime bottle, and when I went to put him in his cot and kiss him goodnight he was bleeding from his ear. I got DH and put the lights on and he had lots of blood in his ear, but when we cleaned it was a scratch in his ear, he must have caught it while doing his rubbing thing. I was so scared, first time to see any blood on him, I just wanted him in bed with me all night :(. I took him to gp today just to check that he isn't doing it because of ear infection and he was ok, so just a teething thing I think. Does anyone elses baby do this Confused!

PenguinArmy · 16/03/2012 21:14

DS doesn't scratch his ear but his head can get in a right state sometimes. He now put oil on his head twice a day and clip his nails weekly to keep on top of it. I spent a lot of time with my arm blocking his hands from attacking his head and he sleeps still swaddled if in his basket.

Today I discovered DS really giggles if thrown in the air (just little throws atm). He also spent this evening laughing as DD ran around. Was really lovely, especially as their good night kiss and cuddle to each other was not long afterwards.

CheshireDing · 17/03/2012 01:42

Aww sounds lovely Penguin Smile

Bub we have had ear clutching today and ear bleeding last Saturday Sad, ears bleed loads/really easily though from a tiny scratch.

sassy34264 · 17/03/2012 03:16

not been to sleep yet! grrr

really need to give up drinking. well, unless im out and dancing!
i let myself have 3 drinks at a time while im still half breast feeding and it results in insomina- its just not worth it.

penguin eva does something similar. she giggles if you hold her at arms length under her arm pits and just swing her legs side to side. dont know why but she laughs a lot. Grin
