Need a quick show of hands regarding buggy situation.. I went for practical and only bought S the maclaren stroller, really wish I had bought a proper pram though and now I can't stop looking at the 'oyster' should I buy or not...? The maclaren is great and I do like it, but dislike that I can't see her and how it doesn't feel like a proper pram. Ahh, what to do?!

strawberrypenguin · 14/03/2012 18:28

How much longer would she fit in the pram for fuzzy? If she'd get a fair bit then go for it if it's what you want but if she's going to outgrow it soon it's not worth it :)

MrsHende · 14/03/2012 18:29

I've got an oyster Fuzzzy. I really like it but it can be tricky to fold down. We've just started using the pram part rather than the carrycot because Lizzie is so nosy inquisitive that she was beginning to get angry being put into the carrycot if she was awake! (Last week I ended up pushing it round Braehead while also carrying her, she was so adamant not to lie in it!)

I'd definitely see if it fits into your car too, it's fairly bulky.

I do love the look of it though!

strawberrypenguin · 14/03/2012 18:29

Or are we using different terms for things?

MrsHende · 14/03/2012 18:30

If it's the same one I've got it should last till she's walking I think, but definitely check that out.

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 18:34

I'd not buy the carrycot bit, she sits up now in the stroller, so I'd go for the stroller option on the oyster. On kiddicare complete with colour pack it's £267. Rely really tempted....

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 18:36

Can't link right as on phone but this;

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/03/2012 19:04

I'm the opposite fuzzy I'm getting sick of my Quinny travel system (in my defence though I've now been using it for 3 years) and I've been looking at the cosatto yo stroller as its umbrella fold but still looks like a really sturdy pushchair. I loved the oyster though and if I was going to get a new pram before M was born then I would have got that or the silver cross surf.

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 19:09

I never was a huge fan of big prams hence why I just went for the maclaren from birth but I really regret now that I never.

Someone is selling a second hand one on gumtree in the east end, £180 and comes with pram and carrycot. Pram has the purple set and carrycot the orange. Maybe I'll enquire...

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/03/2012 19:15

Yeah enquire about 2nd hand one, but most people I know from east end are smokers so I would ask about that.
Have you checked eBay.
I definitely don't think the carrycot would get any use now though M is doing the same as mrsh L so think I'm gonna have to move her to pushchair. Which I'm gutted about as I have a beautiful pram set for it which I wanted more use out of. Sad

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 19:20

Ok on kiddicare it's £267 but just looked in fb and there is a 10% discount so taking it down to £241 (that's the pram with purple colour pack). Even better to me!!!

Looked on eBay but nothing cheap. All around the sand price. Ahh, do I hit buy?!

P.s could I take a pram like this on holiday? Would a plane accept it?

I'm mega excited Grin

CheshireDing · 14/03/2012 19:24

Yeh for your Mum coming out Jnice

Good luck tomorrow Strawberry

FD we shut our door and P's door, she is down the landing and the doors are quite thick but we have the monitor and pad and it's worked so far. She has been in her own room since we moved and I have not slept in her room for at least a week. As someone said put her mobile on and you will hear it through the monitor. The handset is on my side of the bed and turned right up. We have a cat so I wouldn't leave the door open.

I think the Oyster is lovely and a really good price, I see loads of them around and you can ebay it later. We were undecided for ages between the Oyster and Bugaboo and all that swung us was a slightly better suspension on the Bugaboo for lots of off roading. They are both really smooth to push though, easy one hand jobs but yesthe bases are quite big and heavy, might depend how big your boot is.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/03/2012 19:24

fuzzy there's a green oyster in Glasgow on eBay for £70

CheshireDing · 14/03/2012 19:28

If we go on holiday I was just going to take the sling, too scared of baggage handlers chucking them about. I think for hols a really light cheap tripod type would be best.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/03/2012 19:28

AFAIK u can take any pram on a plane but TBH I wouldn't as it will be a PITA to fold down etc in airport and also the baggage handlers can be quite rough. When we went on holiday I bought a cheap Chico buggy for C so that I wasn't upset when it got damaged. (in the end there was only slight damage to the wheel, but I knew it would happen

I have a fiesta. Boot not huge but can fit my maclaren in with room around to spare. Was with a friend today who has an oyster and she said by looking, she thinks it would. I'll google that now...

Thanks ed, I'll check it out Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 19:38

Bit of damage to the eBay one. Lots of reviews on google saying it would fit in a fiesta.

Might be brave and hit 'buy' GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Engelsmeisje · 14/03/2012 20:47

Hi everyone.

Great to hear your mum's coming out jnice.

Hope you're okay scheh

Good luck tomorrow/Friday strawberry.

Fuzzy we shut M's bedroom door because we don't have any heating in our hallway (and ours is normally shut too) and we use the monitor, but actually I reckon would hear M even without it.

M is loving eating veggies! He's still looks a bit confused at the texture of things tho, but cauliflower seems to be a winner. Not sure about the state of his poo now after carrots though Hmm

I reckon M was having a wonder week last week, hence the night feeds. He's been back to normal the last week. Sleep at last!

Have to go to work tomorrow Sad and I REALLY don't want to Sad

have a hospital appt next wednesday for M's flat head to be assessed. It has improved since he's been sleeping on his side but not enough. Looks fine from the front but really asymetrical (sp?).

Anyway, off to bed for me....

Bubalie · 14/03/2012 21:20

Hello everyone, I have been so busy and am really struggling to keep up with the posts :( You lot are so active, I think I need to get mumsnet on my phone so when feeding L in the night and keeping him upright for an hour (reflux thing) I can properly catch up. Will look into doing that.
Scheh I hope you are ok and getting some rest!
Fuzzy good luck with the buggy, we have Quinny and I must say i love it, it's great having L facing me, and I have recently started using 'upright'-ish position as I don't think he liked laying flat anymore.
Weaning going good here, L has so far had carrot, pear, apple and sweet potato purees. Sweet potato a definite winner here. I have just made a 'Trio of root vegetables' from Anabel Karmel book (containing sweet potato, carrots and parsnip) so will try that tomorrow and see if he likes it. He was so funny having apple puree this morning - very unsure to start of and then picked up and loved it. i love watching his face every time I give him something new!!

Does anyone know about reheating purees tho? I take them out of freezer the night before and they are defrosted for the next day, but how do you heat it. everywhere is saying that the food has to be reheated to piping hot and then let to cool down. Can it not just be warmed in a bowl of hot water (as you would do with the milk)? Or am I being stupid Confused?
Fuzzy what do you do?
Hope everyone is ok :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/03/2012 21:38

did anyone know it's national steak and BJ night tonight Confused DH doesn't know and I'm not telling him Grin

Shhh Ed...they might hear...

PenguinArmy · 14/03/2012 22:00

Good luck strawberry

It will be OK

I gave DH a proper cuddle, that's as far as he will be getting tonight.

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 22:03

Thanks for all help with buggy!! Think im sold on it and such a good deal on kiddicare. Will pop over to mothercare tomorrow just to properly check it out and possibly see if it can fit in the boot but google thinks it will!! Really a buggy is the last thing I should be buying right now, but as I say, I regret not buying one when she was first born. Plus it can be saved for future kids.... Grin

bilb yes apparently you should warm to piping hot then cool to serve. We had to do that in nursery and I have stuck to it at home. Something about killing potential bacteria from the original cooling process. I put in fridge the night before and it's defrosted by the following evening then I just blast in microwave for a minute then leave near window to cool. Glad to hear S is enjoying the food!! S hasn't had much of an appetite the last few days due to her sickness but hasnt even really bothered fussing about it. Had her cereal and some apple this morning but that's been it. We were out all afternoon and she only slept really for an hr all day so by 7pm she had her milk and was out like a light!!

ed you still coming tomorrow to class?

FuzzzyDuck · 14/03/2012 22:05

Oh and that's for all advice with her sleeping in own room! Might be brave and move her through tomorrow and see how it goes. I still have her Moses so if she is unsettled I can put her back into that and in with me. I'll keep door shut just to be sure with cats but I honestly doubt they will bother with her. They like to sleep at my feet at night Grin

sassy34264 · 14/03/2012 22:12

ed i think i might tell my dp..........and then laugh.
