All you bf ladies are doing wonderful! I couldn't handle 4 wks never mind going for 6 months +!!

Scheherezade · 23/01/2012 11:54

Fd, it was the hardest thing I've literally EVER done. The first 6-8 weeks were hell. But then it just clicked, and is the easiest thing in the world. So much easier when he's complaining just to lift top and whack him on whilst MNing/read/stuff face with food I really have no idea how people who bottle feed cope, I'm far too lazy to be washing and sterilising all day, I'd only forget then have to put up with screaming child whilst waiting for kettle and steriliser!

FuzzzyDuck · 23/01/2012 12:00

It does bug me the who bottle washing thing but I guess iv got into a routine of it. I bought a flask and so boil the kettle in the morning and fill that up so if it comes to it, I don't need to wait on it boiling Grin. All bottles get washed at night so clean for morning. S can go aprox 3 hrs between feeds, so is kinda in routine of 30 min nap then bottle, play then nap/bottle again so I will usually make feed while she naps so is cool for when she wakes. Would love to have bf though, but just didn't get off to a good start, life just got in the way Sad. Will def give it a much better go with next child not for a long time though Grin

Scheherezade · 23/01/2012 12:05

I couldn't imagine bf twins though bb3 with expressing on top!

Did anyone see last night's episode? Felt.so bad for the young girl :(

LittlePebble · 23/01/2012 12:08

Scheh I did it had me in floods. The thought of anyone taking E from me....Sad
Love the programme though.

I was saying to dp I'd love to be a bf advisor, every problem you can have we did, I'd love to help and support new and first time mums. I was "lucky" that when I was in the m&b unit I could focus 100% on feeding. Might ask my hv tomorrow.

Have just given the bedroom a wipe over with baby wipes Grin

CheshireDing · 23/01/2012 13:05

Fleecy snort at the l/s cardi - I thought it was some fancy maternity cardigan. Grin

Flipping heck just expressed 4oz in one go! (although did have to leave said boob since early hours of the morning). I have never got that much before, partly because I can't be arsed pumping and P never gives me time to as she is a feeding machine. I am trying to express some though as off to the pub tonight with the ladies and it is supposed to increase your chances in terms of ttc while bf. Not too convinced about us being successful though.

Eventually P has just gone to sleep now (with the help of Adele singing) - she's been awake since 7am. Honestly does anyone else sometimes think they have a wild baby. She has been awake for hours and on the gym, yelling and generally bonkers.

Hope you had a good hol Pene :) Yes P kicks her basket and sometimes seems to punch it too. I do worry she is going to be a right throw-herself-on-the-floor-in-the-supermarket-diva the way she seems to be when she cries sometimes.

I have no idea how you manage to bf twins BB3 (respect emoticon) Grin

Jnce it was Mama who does the launch pads, don't know if she shines her sink though! Grin

Have just spent more money on booking P in for underwater photoshoot. Scheh your horse is probably cheaper at the moment. I am such a baby tat consumer.

Scheherezade · 23/01/2012 13:12

Underwater photoshoot?! Can't you just get a cheapo waterproof camera? Haha.

Wow, so you are actually trying to get pg again? Can just imagine dp's face if I suggested it Hmm

Scheherezade · 23/01/2012 13:20

Haha, C has a new favorite game. He sticks his.legs in the air and shouts at me to roll him over and back again then giggles like mad. Lazy baby!

CheshireDing · 23/01/2012 13:25

Did suggest the waterproof camera case to DP actually Scheh. Conclusion was that by the time he had photogaphed her farted about she would probably have drowned.

FuzzzyDuck · 23/01/2012 16:03

Btw, those cheapy waterproof cameras are rubbish!! So are you ttc again cheshire?! How exciting!!!!

Iv had a hard day with S so far. Gave her some calpol and put bonjela on her gums just incase. Seems like something is bothering her but just don't know what Sad. Really need to get to my bed early tonight, in shattered!! I have the upmost respect for anyone who has a child who doesn't sleep on a regular basis. Few nights and I'm at my wits end Shock. I have a friend who's dd is 16 months old and just doesn't sleep ever! She finally caved and her health visitor got her intouch with an organization who help with trouble sleepers. Im praying it works for her. Must be so hard!! Sad

Scheherezade · 23/01/2012 16:09

FdC has been difficult a lot recently. Today, every time he's got narky I've stuck him in the pram and pushed up and down whilst singing gently. That means so far today he's not been awake longer than an hour! I know s is a similar age to him so am thinking the grumpiness is down to growth spurt tiredness? Apologies if you've already tried this! The pram is the only place he'll settle

SconesForTea · 23/01/2012 16:19

Cheshire I conceived DD2 while BF DD1. Not EBF by then as she was nearly 1, but she was a slow starter on food so I was still feeding her 4 times a day probably.

My most empathic sympathies to those struggling with early mornings. I HATE mornings. I always want an extra hour, or two, or three... I do wonder how long I could actually sleep for if I didn't have to get up.

FuzzzyDuck · 23/01/2012 16:21

I'm thinking this is the start of a growth spurt. It's not like her to be like this normally the increase in milk last wk has really helped, but it seems to still not be enough. My mum took her out for a walk in buggy which has helped. God this parenting malarkey is hard at times!!!

Scheherezade · 23/01/2012 16:29

Does your mum fancy taking mine out whilst she's at it?! Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 23/01/2012 16:29

Imms done with relatively little fuss (dreading 4 month ones). You ladies were right, she was fine to have them.

Jnice hope your Monday morning is easy. Yup I do launch pads, shine sink etc

I watched midwife thing yesterday, poor girl Sad. I'm not even considering WMD of bfing. I let ds2 wean when he wanted and will so same again. I conceived twice whilst bfing ds2. Sadly had early mc in the November before I fell preg with dd end of jan. I've got fertility issues too PCOS. Getting broody for another tho Grin not gonna happen.

FuzzzyDuck · 23/01/2012 16:38

Haha, I kno, I'm so grateful for her doing it. Feel like my head is about to explode!

bilblio · 23/01/2012 17:07

Sorry you're all such a chatty lot that I can't remember who said what.

Welcome to the newbies.

Getting a smart phone is the best thing I did in preparation for a new baby and bfing. Mine only costs £20 a month with unlimited wireless and 1 gig mobile internet. I did a lot of haggling though. Also very handy when DD is demanding cbeebies games on the pc.

Seth has started sleeping from midnight to 8:30, then sleeping again for a few hours. I keep considering trying to get him to sleep earlier and doing a dream feed at 11ish, but he's so chatty and pleasant late at night, and having a few hours to come round is nice in the morning so I'll leave it for now.

No sign of rolling here. I really should start putting him on the floor though rather than leading him on the sofa Hmm
I've been feeling for teeth every day, loads of dribbling and gnawing of hands but nothing yet.

I've never supplemented through growth spurts, I just keep on feeding, particularly during the evening he stays latched on but dozing for hours until I go to bed. I'm lucky that I have DH home though and DD is in school.

Haven't tried expressing yet this time but last time I only got an ounce the first few tries. Very disheartening but then got up to 4 or 5 ounces. I agree with starting slowly and try to imitate the babies sucking rhythm so a few quick pumps, then pause.

fuzzzy your dad sounds like mine. He loves cuddling Seth, he just hands him back for feeds. I can't remember him doing much with me, but he admits he likes babies, but loses interest when they're bigger. It might be different with Seth though. He's the only boy. This weekend dad was telling him about the toy tractors he's got saved and the meccano, plus the lego sets he wants to buy him (aged 11-16) :o

Life here is returning to normal at last following the burglary. The house insurance claim is all resolved. I'm still waiting for a payout for the car, but we've agreed in a figure and this weekend I went and bought a nice red Toyota auris which I'm collecting next weekend.

Jnice · 23/01/2012 17:55

mama it was great to get up in the morning and have things pretty well ready. Just had to make ods's lunch as he prefers a hot lunch in his flask. Pasta in sauce today.

I am miffed though because with things in order DH just stayed in bed longer and we didn't see much of a benefit. After dropping older ds's off he came back and got his things for work, waking L up from his nap in the process. I lost it Sad

I am concerned that I might be showing signs of pnd or maybe my period is coming. I have shouted and cried most days in the past week. I feel like whatever I do it's never enough.

Sorry to whine about it. At least I have mum & baby fit now, I always feel better after exercise.

Good to see you back biblio!

I'm so happy I found you ladies. To those who thought I put dairy milk choc in my tea - I wish! I'd love a bar right now Wink

Engelsmeisje · 23/01/2012 18:03

Sorry to hear you've had such a bad start to the day jnice.

Anyone who was talking about expressing to boost supply, my kraamzorg/maternity nurse (the week after M was born) told me it's better to pump for short periods throughout the day (I did it 10 minutes after each feed in the beginning ) is much better than trying for a long period only once or twice.

Think M def has a bottom tooth coming through...can see a little white tip!

hmmm...you're convincing me on the smartphone bilblio

have been inspired by you all...am shing my sink!

night night (not actually ging to bed but turning laptop OFF!)

PenguinArmy · 23/01/2012 19:38

jabs done today here as well. DD managed to skip them again as she has a mild fever from HF&M. Hoping he doesn't get a fever again.

LittlePebble · 23/01/2012 19:59

Bilblio yay for new red car Grin

Thanks engels Smile

Penelope1980 · 23/01/2012 20:27

Scheh it was a 6 hour trip each way - he was OK for 5 of them, but screamed for the last 30 mins. Poor baby. And I am nt looking forward to stopping bf either, I really like it.

cheshire underwater photos sounds really cool!

Have to run now to my buggy fit class but be back to post properly later ... (if I can move my arms that is)

MamaMaiasaura · 23/01/2012 21:19

Poor J Sad. Been crying for hours now, whimpers in between. Gave calpol around 4.30 so don't know if should give more. She's having a nurse at moment but still :-( dh out and I'm tempted to call him home. How crao am I?
