Oh mama do you think it's her jabs or has she a cold? Hope she's feeling better soon x

DS is screaming here as well :( really unlike him. Hoping it's not a jab response

MamaMaiasaura · 23/01/2012 21:44

LP i think it's both
PA- oh no Sad poor ds. J not usually like this. Huge bruise on her thigh.

She's exhausted her self and nursed to sleep but still doing that shuddery breathing from crying.

cheekydino · 23/01/2012 21:49

Hi all,

On phone so sorry can't remember who wrote what. We are back in the land of night feeding too, although I shouldn't complain as it is only one feed at the moment. As we have now hit 17 weeks (18 on thurs!) we could theoretically wean anytime, but will try and hold off until 24 weeks. She is waking through hunger I think - wondering if my post-Xmas diet can be to blame as I have been eating a lot less than in December when she was sleeping 12 hours overnight.

Who was it who is being bridesmaid soon? I too am being one at the end of may - really need to lose some weight but hate exercise!

To those suffering jabs aftermath - e has had them all now and was definitely extra grumpy and clingy after them. Took me a while to realise that's what it was as ds was never bothered by them. Have to keep reminding myself that they are different people everytime she does something he didn't.

Jnice - we have similar feeding issues with needing to hold upright, lots of sick etc but not enough to medicate. Was contemplating giving up dairy but not sure I could manage, so much respect to you!

No rolling here yet - dd is quite podgy which may have something to do with it (and she doesn't spend much time flat due to vomit/wind issues). Hoping she'll be a slow mover as life is much easier when they don't move!

Just bought some new bottles in the hope that I can begin to express occasionally - all the tips on when and how much have been useful thanks. Smile

FuzzzyDuck · 23/01/2012 23:09

dino im bridesmaid in April Shock. I'm running outta time for major changes! Jan is almost done and im still no further on! Planned gym this morning but had such a rough night with S that I was in no state for it! Tomorrow evening for sure. Had a good day food wise too so fingers xd. We can keep each other going!!

Sad poor baby's who have had their injections Sad. S will have her 4 mnths ones pretty soon then I think that her till 1 year. She has been ok with them thankfully.

Settled much better tonight. Gave her a little calpol as she still seemed out of sorts. Screams like crazy for few mins then is happy smiles again. I can't work her out!!

Fingers crossed for an un disturbed night...

featherbag · 23/01/2012 23:38

Hi all, I just found this thread! I gave birth to Sam, DC1, on 2nd October at 32 weeks. I currently have a complaint working it's way though the system about the way the labour and birth were mishandled, although both of us are now fine. After working very very hard to get bf going while Sam was in NICU for 22 days, some crappy advice plus a missed tongue tie meant we ended up mix feeding from 4 weeks then ff from 9 weeks. Sam's smiling and laughing now, still not holding his head up on his own for long or sitting, but he's only 8 weeks corrected so I'm trying to be patient!

He's been putting weight on mega-fast, he was 5lbs 3ozs at birth and 5lbs 1oz when we brought him home, but 11 days ago was 14lbs 12ozs having put 3lbs on in just over 3 weeks - the HV now wants me to take him back this Thursday to have him weighed and is talking about sending him to the GP if he's put much more weight, has anyone had any similar experiences? He has 5 x 8oz bottles per day and sleeps 7-midnight, has a feed then sleeps til 6. I think he's teething, poor little soul, he's been really whingy today.

FuzzzyDuck · 23/01/2012 23:57

Hi fb! Glad to have you here. Sorry to hear how things went with labour/birth. Must have been hard, but hopefully you will get outcome your looming for with complaint.

Glad to hear ds is doing well, esp with coming into the world early!! Can't advise much on the weight gain, my dd tends to average on 1/2 a lb a week. She is ff and is on 7oz first and last bottle (9am and 8pm) and 6oz through day. Aprox 6 bottles all in. She will be 17 wks this fri Smile

featherbag · 24/01/2012 00:19

Thanks for the reply Fuzzy, all I'm after from the complaint is 'we should've done better, we'll try not to make the same stupid mistake again, sorry about that.'

Jnice · 24/01/2012 00:40

Oh mama & penguin sorry for you and lo's - hope the cal pop and cuddles help. Fx for speedy recoveries.

Welcome feather!

Jnice · 24/01/2012 00:43

cheeky sorry you have the same issues. Giving up dairy really doesn't seem to have made a difference to be honest. I am probably going to stop soon and gradually reintroduce it.

Jnice · 24/01/2012 00:45

...and sorry to hear about your early feeding issues feather - it sounds like its all going well now. I hope you get a good response to your complaint. I think it's shocking the advice or lack of that new mums get around feeding.

LittlePebble · 24/01/2012 02:21

And there ends my three night run of good sleeping!
Fb welcome! 32weeks yikes that's early, glad Sam is ok now. I have a guzzler who put on a lb a week in the first fee weeks but that's calmed down a bit now. Never got referred to go though.
Cheeky and Fuzzzy, I'm going to be the bride in October so am meant to be losing weight to fit in my wedding dress but have done nothing yet
Mama and PA hope dc's are ok. Another poorly one here he's got a cold, is teething and full of wind Sad took ages to get him down as he kept waking up screaming.

Welcome Feather, seems to me Parents cannot win with weight. My friend had her first baby in October and they are being referred because he is slim. In reality he is probably just going to be a slim very tall chap (Grandad is over 6ft2). I appreciate HV need to check for things but I could not wait to get rid of ours, and we only saw her twice for her initial visit and then to be signed off. Seems to me a lot of their info is out of date/not based on much (but that's just my opinion). I hope every turns out ok for you and Sam :)

Hope things have improved for Mama and Penguin too tonight.

Think P is going to be a bum shuffler as she managed to get off her baby gym twice yesterday by sticking her gut in the air and pushing off.

Went out last night and had to come back because although this time I had left DH with plenty of expressed milk P wouldn't take it. When I got back DH was sweating because she was distraught, cat ran out and dog hand been howling! DH went for a shower while I bf and when he came back the house was lovely and quiet and P was laughing Hmm. Is it bad he called her "a little witch"? Grin I felt so sorry for everyone, she has taken it before but I wonder if she had forgotten or something Hmm

bilblio · 24/01/2012 04:27

Cheshire, we had that with DD. took bottle fine at 2 months, but refused it a few weeks later when we needed her to take it. little witch sounds about right. :o

Seth has woken for the first night in ages and took ages to settle. typical as I have a cold and really need sleep.

cheekydino · 24/01/2012 05:09

Welcome featherbag! And congrats on your preemie! My ds who is now three was born at 31 weeks at 4lb 8, came home at 5 lb after 24 days and piled on the weight so I know what you are going through - if it helps 3 years on noone can tell he was prem and we have no major health issues except from asthma type stuff, and that is common in term children anyway. Health visitors don't seem to know much about preemies so don't worry too much. My ds had overtaken two babies born before him at term locally in weight by 6 months.

Hope your complaint is resolved - I too have one in for this birth (which was at 38 weeks) and am hoping for the same.

bilblio · 24/01/2012 06:00

And he's awake again! It's either wind or teeth, but feeding settles him.

Missed saying hello featherbag. Sorry can't help on the weight problem Seth was 10 days early but 9lb 2oz! Some hv seem really on the ball, others clueless. Mine seemed confident in me even though we were waiting to get his TT snipped.

Hmm think Seth's problem is wind judging by the trumping. :o

engels I forgot, smartphones also make great torches too.

featherbag · 24/01/2012 06:03

Thanks for that Dino, good to know your ds isn't now 28 stone having kept up the weight gain! Can I ask if your ds passed milestones at 'normal' actual age, or did you find it was corrected age?

featherbag · 24/01/2012 06:05

Bilblio I second the smart phones as torches point, plus means I can sit here MNing while feeding ds and not waking him up fully, hopefully I'll get another hour!

strawberrypenguin · 24/01/2012 06:36

Welcome feather, glad Sam is doing OK.
Mama feeling your pain, W had his second jabs yesterday too and is not happy, if this times anything like the first set he's just going to want cuddles all day.

cheekydino · 24/01/2012 06:43

It was a mixed bag feather - most things seemed to be in the middle. Physical stuff seemed slower than mental stuff if that makes sense. So cognitively he caught up more quickly - he was fast to talk, eat, sleep through the night, but slower to crawl and walk. He was still within normal range though even uncorrected as babies differ so much anyway - walked at 15 months actual. We worried about lot of things but by 2 most things had sorted themselves out. The worst thing by far was dealing with his severe silent reflux, but that seems to have finally gone.

LittlePebble · 24/01/2012 07:15

Oh my goodness just dreamt I was pregnant again (I blame you two Edward and Cheshire!)
Poorly baby here snotty, crying, windy and very unhappy, ee'ce had a very unsettled night . Think a day snuggled in the sofa beckons for us. Poor dog I was planning a nice walk but DP went to work at half five so can't even nip round block now.
He's away at a stag do all weekend so am alone for two nights Sad but scared about it tbh, will try and fill whole weekend with people!
strawberry hope W is ok Eli was grizzly but consolable after his.

Morning ladies - hi fb, congrats on baby Sam (sorry about the labour etc, hope your complaint gets sorted).

Cheshire I used to just bung the girls in their bouncy chairs and not worry about strapping them in and Edith-may now bum shuffles out and off your lap with the same gut out move Grin however i am petrified she's going to be one of those kids that sticks their gut out and creates a plank when going in the pushchair (tantrums) so you have to physically force them to bend and get in Wink

I've got two white teeth poking their way through edie's bottom gum and nothing with Ayse-Rose, hoping they cone through soon my poor dn took 4 months from teeth visable to break through.

Hope babies are better post jabs today, 4 month ones were worst for us but no more for 8 months Grin!!

Sorry if I've missed anyone, Hope everyone's ok xx

Engelsmeisje · 24/01/2012 08:12

Morning all. Welcome featherbag

M is definitely suffering from wind and snotty nose and teething. Started howling uncontrollably yesterday afternoon just after a feed which is really unlike him.

mama and strawberry M was also really unsettled from his 2nd round of jabs 2 weeks ago. Had his worst night sleep in months after them.

Sad cheshire at night out cut short.

pebble I have been using the baby phone as a torch (notably when I managed to trip the fuse a few weeks ago and all the lights went off) but a smartphone would make a MUCH better torch wink]

We almost had a half roll this morning - just that damn shoulder getting in the way!
