What a rotten night! he's been awake on and off since 4. I'm not used to bad nights. he's still trumping away so I think gripe water is needed. I'd love to stay in bed but I've started running the NCT coffee morning. it's in the IKEA cafe though so at least I can get a 99p breakfast and free coffees. :)

Cheshire when co-sleeping I cuddle Seth, his head lays in the crook of my arm and I push the edge of the duvet between us. it feels far more secure and I sleep far better than if he's in bed but away from me. or last night he was laid on the edge of the duvet.

Welcome feather

One thing working well for the past few nights when j wakes (and doesn't need feeding) is white noise. We have an app which plays it (sounds a bit like a hair dryer) and it sends him back to sleep. I find I am in a really deep sleep with the white noise on as well! Yet another reason to have a smart phone!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 24/01/2012 10:21

Morning all welcome FB
I'm another lover of smartphones an impressed at White noise app there really is one for everything!!

M seems to be back to normal and is only waking once a night yay! Think we had a wonder week last week as she is now trying to sit up and grasping for toys! Still no rollin though but she doesn't get on the floor often as the first time I tried er on her mat DS drove a RC car into her head. Confused

Well I'm doing my first burns supper tomorrow night so housework today and hopefully get my starter made an in fridge Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 24/01/2012 11:51

Don't remember who said what.. Yeah I d/l a white noise app a few years back as I had a period when I just couldn't sleep. I found it a huge help! Have read that babys do sleep good with white noise in the background so maybe one to try with all the none sleepers! Through day, S tend just to nap on the sofa or on her mat in living room and I do tend to keep tv on etc. it's never silent. At night though, she is in my room which is silent. We had a much better night thankfully. Down at 8.30pm and woke about 7ish. I gave her dummy and she dozed back again till 8.30am when the cats decided they wanted their food and started miaowing and waking us all up!! If it's not babys, it's cats!!

lp congrats on getting married in oct!! How lovely. Are you all organized? My best friend is getting married in April, I can't wait! Stressing slightly at the idea of loosing weight but I'm just gonna try my best. It's a strapless dress, so really really want to tone up my arms/upper body which I'm doing.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 24/01/2012 12:36

It is v quiet on here today...
Well thats my soup made just need to stop wasting time start on housework!

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 12:52

I would do ANYTHING to get C to nap so easily, Fd . He's had a bad night, up since 7 and had 2x 10 minutes in the pram. Am now trying him in the cot with white noise. He's tired, he just won't go to sleep! If I put hik on mat in living room he would scream blue murder. Just don't know what to do anymore. :(

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 13:04

Well that did NOT work.

cheekydino · 24/01/2012 13:08

Have you tried a sling Scheh? It is a pain compared to a cot nap, but when E is having a bad sleep day, the one place she will always drop off is in the moby wrap sling thing my friend lent me.

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 13:09

Thats.a lie, I do know what to do. When all else fails shove on le boob.

Scheherezade · 24/01/2012 13:12

I can't work slings Blush but I have a carrier, will try that if still struggling. My (really really lovely) hv is coming round in an hour anyway so I'll cry at ask her

CheshireDing · 24/01/2012 13:16

Is he hungry then do you think Scheh? P also seems sleepy after a feed.

Sling is a good idea too as Cheeky suggested. P is a cling-in baby so she likes the sling.

Sorry your're havng a bad day :(

CheshireDing · 24/01/2012 13:18

I had to go and see a sling woman in Wigan because I had never used one before. She also sent me a youtube link. What about a sling meeting, are there any near you (or is Wigan/Warrington too far as I know they have meetings there). I cannot remember where exactly you are though.

PenguinArmy · 24/01/2012 13:22

we have mornings like that sch Once they're overtired it's so hard to get them off. Normally I revert to sling or buggy or lots of jiggling/jumping around. Someone said to me the other day that the guaranteed way to wake a baby is to put it down Grin

DS seems OK this morning, but a bit hot. Think last night was pain at injection site

bilblio · 24/01/2012 13:27

Scheh we're having a boob day too. Seth grizzled and fed most of the time at the NCT group. I feel rotten still but would feel far worse if I didn't have a cooked breakfast inside me. :) He slept in the car on the way home but that's only 10-15 minutes. He's now dozing on my boob, he did unlatch himself but grizzled as soon as he realised.

I'm not sure what's up, tired, windy, teeth, growth spurt.... all of the above. Hmm

So I guess that's me sat on the sofa with my feet up for the day then :o I'll probably put him in the sling later when I fetch DD. He also falls asleep in there in seconds so I might manage to get some baking done.

MamaMaiasaura · 24/01/2012 13:48

Busy day on here ( can tell weathers crap).

J really sore in folds if neck. Pharmacist recommended talc there, poor girl. She drools non stop. Void night in the end and nice day so far, took ds2 to soft play and he loved it (special toddler morning and crafts). We are now watching about space eating cake. He's finally. Even "helping" with J Grin at last!

She's whiney today so constantly on me which is ok, I was super organised. Launch pads, snack pots done and prepared dinner at breakfast time (casserole) which is now cooking.

MamaMaiasaura · 24/01/2012 13:50

And bruises on her little legs :(

FuzzzyDuck · 24/01/2012 15:25

sch don't get me wrong, she can be a bit of a bugger at times trying to get her to sleep at nap times, so I usually lay her on couch (or my bed) on a fleecy blanket and lay beside her with dummy in and I'll stroke her head/nose etc. she does fight it but will eventually nod off. Maybe pick one way and stick to that, maybe c will learn to realize that by layin on a particular blanket with u next to him means sleepy time. You are doing a fab job though!! Smile x

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 24/01/2012 15:40

Aaah!
DS is at MIL today so I have put all toys except his kitchen upstairs an I think my living room has doubled in size!

FuzzzyDuck · 24/01/2012 17:02

Anyone got any experience with vari flow teats? I felt like S was struggling with the 0+ tommee tippee ones so bought the vari flow ones yesterday as said suitable for all ages as it goes by their suck. She seems to be gulping it down tho and sounds like taking in a lot of air. Maybe will just take a few feeds to get used to the new flow. Means a 6oz bottle is gone in 5 mins Hmm

Jnice · 24/01/2012 18:18

Thank you mama for introducing me to launch pads. This morning was wonderful. Everyone relaxed and happy, both the boys ready in plenty of time.

I can't keep up with you all at the moment, but wanted to say that I hope all the lo's who are feeling under the weather due to jabs, teething or bugs are all feeling much better soon, and all mums get a break and some much needed rest!

bilblio · 24/01/2012 18:50

fuzzzy we had tommee tippee bottles for DD. She had size 1 for months and months (she was 8 months before she started on bottles anyway) I didn't know they did other sizes. When I was told they did other sizes, and at her age she shouldn't still be on size 1 I thought I'd try the vari-flow ones. She guzzled a bottle in about 2 minutes then shortly after threw it all up again. Hmm We binned the vari-flow teats and went back to size 1. I think she did use a size 2 eventually.
The other thing with smaller teats was the longer it took her to finish a bottle then more chance there was she'd be asleep by the end of it.

Seth had a long sleep this afternoon while I made flapjack (comfort food) he woke up much happier and was smiling again, he even had an hour not being held! First in his chair, then kicking things on his play mat. He's now back to grizzling & feeding again.
Please let him sleep tonight! I feel rotten!

featherbag · 24/01/2012 19:21

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Had a stressful day, Sam's suffering badly with his gums, had to come out of baby massage after 20 minutes this morning as he was screaming the place down, full-on purple faced inconsolable help-I'm-being-murdered screaming. He's slept maybe an hour in total all day (usually has a 90 minute morning nap and a 2 hour afternoon nap) which is making his mood even worse! Thankfully his dad's home now and he's done bath and now bottle, hopefully he'll go down without too much of a fight as he must be shattered.

What're launch pads, btw?

Sorry for rambling, feel like my brain's just been taken out of an 8-hour spin cycle and put away wet Confused

Penelope1980 · 24/01/2012 20:26

I don't know what launch teats are either!

Sorry to the ladies getting bad sleeps. A is OK at present - regular waking at 4am every night. We put him in his own cot about 10 days ago and it took about a week to get back to his old routine, but now is going well (for now of course!)

golemmings · 24/01/2012 20:28

Another unsettled one here. I'm definitely going in search of a white noise app. I think Alex is teething. I can see his top two middle teeth through his gum, he's eating his hands (making himself sick), he's snotty and clingy. The snot may also be the cold that we all have, though.

Hoping for a better night tonight. Last night he had 5 feeds between going to bed at 7 and getting up at 5.

Had a fairly monsterous day. Toddler group this morning and we're doing a baby massage course at the local children's centre. The course is fab but its 1pm, half an hour away and whilst the children's centre has been wonderful and accommodated dd in their nursery, getting her fed and there on time is a military operation.

In trying to manage 2 screaming kids (one of whom was drawing on the table (not the paper on the table...), putting half a roll of loo paper down the loo, sitting on her brother's bouncy chair (while he was in it), lying in the middle of the floor so I fell over her... You get the picture) I managed to incinerate tea so as DH walked through the door I handed the kids to him and told him in tears that I was going out for a run. By the time I came home Alex was calm and dd was just finishing her pudding and was much happier. With hind sight trying to potty train dd with a 15 week old just in time for DH's first week back at school wasn't the best move. No idea what we're eating. There's only potatoes left in the house... U

golemmings · 24/01/2012 20:30

Sorry that turned into a very ling whinge, didn't it. I do apologise. The massage course was brilliant but I would like some sleep soon...!
