Ooh BB3 does your friend write a column for Marie Claire?

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 21/01/2012 11:11

Thanks fuzzy it's strathclyde park in walking round and breeze from loch tends to be quite icy.
She doesn't own any jeans, in fact she only has one pair of trouser Blush I'm a sucker for cute dresses. I've put her only pair of trousers (which are pretty thick) with socks and bootees long sleeve vest and cardi, hat, mitts. I'm gonna take the pram now but with the sling as a back up if she gets grouchy, she's too nosy and gets grumpy if in carrycot too long and can't see out.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/01/2012 11:36

Jessica just rolled from belly to back Grin tried to get her to do it again so I could video it and she cried, bless her.

Scheherezade · 21/01/2012 12:41

Can all the babies younger than C please stop rolling etc Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 21/01/2012 12:55

Grin scheh - it was prob a one off, she'll not do it again for aged

FuzzzyDuck · 21/01/2012 13:06

Yeah prob just a one off with S aswell Grin. Loved ur video on fb of C giggling sch! S hasn't managed that yet!! She doesn't quite know how to proper laugh, it's a half hearted giggle just now!

emmazed · 21/01/2012 14:34

Sch I wouldn't leave J if was purple from crying so much. does C have reflux? Maybe why he wakes up from sleeping? Or maybe just takes a whole to get to a deep sleep

fd great news on the rolling. J did it again test but it is entirely unintentional. He goes up on one side so high when doing tummy time that he l

emmazed · 21/01/2012 14:39

Gggr,, iPhones! He looses balance and rolls. He didn't cry yesterday at least from the shock!

I have found being a mummy really hard as well. It is like I lost my identity and I wasnt sure who I was anymore. I lost interest in everything but J so I didn't feel like I was me. Getting better now though. It also took several weeks to fall in love with J. I just expected as soon as I gave birth to have the wow moment, but it takes a while

sassy34264 · 21/01/2012 14:59

feeling crap. just dont think i have enough milk. sent dp for formula. just going to go on feeding thread to see what i can do. was dieting but not crazily and stopped it. just in case its that. fed up.

Jnice · 21/01/2012 15:23

sassy what's up? Why do you feel that way? Is a growth spurt underway? Hang in there.

L just slept 9 hours straight and is feeding away - what a gift! Trying not to have any expectations but so nice to wake up in the morning after a full nights sleep!

No rolling here yet. l is 3 months tomorrow.

LittlePebble · 21/01/2012 15:25

Oh Sassy Sad I prescribe lots of chocolate and not cleaning the kitchen! Every book I read says rest, food and relaxation to up milk supply. I know you haven't used breast pump yet but can you try with it when E is given formula to keep your supply stimulated? I've been pumping every morning after a feed to try and get supply up, and feed both boobs in evening until they are empty then let dp give bottle of bm/f if e is still hungry. That way I know my supply has been stimulated, and it seems to be working as last night he only had boob and slept 6hrs in one stretch. HTH x

sassy34264 · 21/01/2012 16:22

pepple ive eaten choc and not cleaned the kitchen!
she is just crying after a feed, and ive been using both boobs. managed to pacify her for a bit, then put her on the right one and she feel asleep.
set the pump up, sterilised the bottles and equipment and just tried pumping the right one, put it on high speed but nothing- so im not imagining it. decided to give her formula and pump the left one, just to see if there is any and how much?

she cried a lot for 2 mins and then i remembered that isobel would never take it in my arms and i used to have to put her on the carpet. she took a min but then guzzled nearly 4oz.
im not sure what my plan of action is yet. cant think straight.

emmazed · 21/01/2012 16:23

Good luck sassy and don't let it get you down. I have no advice as I couldn't manage bf, I think all of you doing it are so impressive.

sassy34264 · 21/01/2012 16:23

PEBBLE not pepple!

emmazed · 21/01/2012 16:26

I did express for a few weeks, and found you need to start the machine on low then turn it up higher once milk is coming through. Not sure if it was just me/ my machine but that may help? Good luck with it and don't give up until you are sure.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/01/2012 16:39

Sassy - J is fussing over nursing (just like boys did at this stage). Only way I could/ can settle her is laying down feeding. It's like everything else topics of a distraction

MamaMaiasaura · 21/01/2012 16:45

Not topics, too much. I keep reminding myself its a phase. Really hope gets sorted for you and just growth spurt. I used to block feed too, so an hour dedicated to one side. I rarely do both in a feed. Kellymom is really good for advice too. As long as baby betting plenty of wet nappies I would try not to worry.

sassy34264 · 21/01/2012 16:47

well, didnt get 1oz out of the boob she didnt have. Hmm did both boobs and got 1 1/2 oz altogether. dont think that's good is it?
can i just ask some questions cos this stupid phone will only let me go on the threads im watching and not on new topics!
if i put this milk in the fridge now, how long can i keep it there? i presume its 24hrs but it may have chsnged since had dd1. also if i express some more later today, can i put them in the same bottle or not? and how long do they last in a freezer?

BB3 · 21/01/2012 17:00

Scones, yep she does write for MC too kind of a dating in new York theme for her column.

Sassy it might just be a dry spell, I've had them this time where I didn't with ds. Or a growth spurt - Just keep feeding through it, won't hurt you or her to top up at all. Re expressing at the beginning you get hardly anything, takes a while. Last night I was exploding I was so full and for first 5 minutes hit hardly anything (literally dribbles) then 5oz out one side but took a while to come through. We keep it in the fridge no more than 3 days and 6 months in freezer but that's only going by our mw advice from ds xx

Yes I agree these younger babies are making my two look like lazy lumps with all their rolling!!

Does anyone know how cupoftea and beatrice are getting on?

Jnice · 21/01/2012 17:03

Hey sassy try not to worry. A pump will never be as effective as a baby for getting the milk out. You need to have pumping as a regular routine before your body gets used to it and if you're worried it will affect your let down.

L is a real fuss pot at the boob and of this was my first bf experience I would be freaking out. My other 2 went through phases like this too and it's really normal.

If you are worried about supply just try to feed more frequently during the day and feed both sides each time.

Hang in there!

Jnice · 21/01/2012 17:04

I keep bm in the fridge for 3 days, 4 tops. As long as the fridge is cold enough should be fine.

Scheherezade · 21/01/2012 17:26

Hi sassy this happens to me fairly regularly when C growth spurting. My solution is to let him munch on empty boob for a while to stimulate flow, then give bottle to fill him up. Never fails me

sassy34264 · 21/01/2012 17:46

thanks for the advice, but think i have made it sound like i dont know what to do re: breast feeding. i breast fed the twins until they were 9 months. and ive also been through the no milk spell with them and managed by topping up with formula for a week and then went back to breast exclusively until weaning and then carried on alongside till 9months.
its the expressing i have absolutely no experience of. want to use that as a means to get through growth spurts this time instead of formula.
didnt want you to think wtf! if you see me giving advice further down the line and you remember this time iyswim

Jnice · 21/01/2012 18:16

Sorry for the misunderstanding sassy - did you get what you needed on expressing? I'm not an expert but had to pump quite a bit for ODS, so hopefully I can answer any other questions.

Just one question, why do you need formula/ebm for a growth spurt? I thought it was important for supply to feed through it? Because it increases your supply to match increased demand/need?

sassy34264 · 21/01/2012 18:22

fuck! fuck! fuck!

just fed eva on both boobs and gone to get the expressed out the fridge and fucking spilt half of it. arggghhh!

good job dp got 2 bars of choc from the shop and he has made lunch and dinner. he's even feeding j & i cos they wouldnt eat it for me!
just not my frigging day.
