Well, mine is anyway .
Here it is - a new thread to celebrate the new year with our babies.
Back later - I'm on the laptop at the mo and find it tricky to use smaller keyboard to type.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsdarcy · 16/03/2006 14:18

By the way, glad you had a good holiday Bagpuss. I'm impressed that your DH got no work calls Smile

Eulalia · 16/03/2006 14:18

Grin Mrs D - Are you having a party or something? Hope you are feeling better. Good luck with the kitchen.

Welcome back Bagpuss.

HV came yesterday to give ds a development & weight check. He is doing fine but is still small, just 15lbs 14 ½ oz and she wants to see him again in a month. I said he wasn't eating much and she told me he should be having 3 meals, main and pud for lunch & dinner, 3-4 tablespoons for each meal. Blimey.

Done two lots of baking today for the Bulb Show at the school on Saturday. Helped ds1 make a miniature garden for it last night and doing more baking with him later. Poor dd is a bit left out at the moment but seems happy enough thankfully.

blondie82 · 16/03/2006 14:21

dd has started to sit up by herself :o invested in a bumbo seat for her too. from the looks of things it wont be long til shes crawling, she can move backwards, but seems to just go round in circles at the minute!!

DiamondsAreForever · 17/03/2006 19:29

Hi everyone, glad you had a good holiday Bagpuss- I long for a break but moving house has wiped out all fun funds for the time being. Still, I am typing this while drinking a glass of bubbly so things aren't too bleak!
I have just confirmed to my boss that I am going back full time in two weeks, boo. But dh and I are able to work it so we can split shift one day so dd gets lots more time with her folks. Still, I can see a new level of tiredness on the horizon! Plus work are badgering me to go to Spain twice in the nest month or so- but the thought of leaving dh and dd (and the cat!) fills me with dread! I'll see how long I can put it off for, even though it will be a couple of lovely trips, one to Barcelona and Rioja and one to Jerez in the South. I'll see if I can put it off until June so I get some sunshine as well!!
Anyway, dd is just the best fun at the moment- she laughs all day long and is sitting up herself- then falling forwards and having a bit of a go at moving, it's so funny to watch. I have gone out and bought plug guards and rubbery furniture corners to put on this weekend, it's only a matter of time now for our little ones!
Whoops, I'm rambling on! catch up soon. x

merryberry · 17/03/2006 21:31

am having visions of MrsD's new kitchen tiled in toasted pittas.

Belo · 20/03/2006 14:19

Glad you had a good holiday Bagpuss. I've made both the banana bread and the lentil & bacon soup. Both were successes. Thank you for the tips. Let me know if you try any of the other recipes.

How's your chaotic house MrsD? We were supposed to have a builder start today but he's gone AWOL. We were supposed to have an extra bathroom put in as the one we've got is sooo small. Can anyone recommend a good plumber in South London? Maybe that's a new thread....

DAF, your work trips sound great. Jerez is somewhere I really want to go to. Manzanilla is my favourite drink. And the weather should be lovely there at this time of year.

Dd2 is still under the weather. Apparently it is just teething according to the doctor. She's miserable, hardly eats and won't leave her ears alone. This could go on for months. Poor love. Still, she's got plenty of fat to live off.

mrsdarcy · 20/03/2006 21:31

oooh, we are in such chaos here. DH did us all a favour with his 100 pitta breads - there aren't very many left Grin. Pitta bread on the walls would be a big improvement on what was there before. There were fake beams on virtually every surface, a step upto a false floor, and an archway!

DD thinks it is all lovely as the builders are very sweet with her, and the boys are having school dinners so are delighted. They are booked into holiday club over Easter as the work will still be going on then. I'm just spending as much time out of the house as possible, so the sooner I can shake off this cold the better.

Your poor DD, Belo. I think my DD is having a hard time with her teeth too, although not as bad as your DD.

Your work trips sound so exciting, DaF! But it must be hard leaving DD.

hoxtonchick · 20/03/2006 21:38

oh god, the horror of builders. we had lots of work done when i was pg with ds which was ok, & more when he was 18 months which was a nightmare, i kept finding him up ladders....... hope it's over soon mrsd, & you have a fabulous kitchen at the end of it.

all well here, though dd has a bit of a cold. she's got 4 teeth now, & fingers crossed doesn't seem too bothered by them coming through. she said mama this morning, very exciting. she didn't mean me, but it was still nice to hear. we were all in the bedroom so dp & ds heard too.

work is going really well, i'm quite surprised!

merryberry · 21/03/2006 18:40

Still no teeth here, though everyone and i mean everyone on the street and everywhere comments on ds's teething cheeks. he has three day burtsts of teething misery, i have to use loads of calpol/ibuprofen etc. he starts nursery next week, and i hear i have to go to the gp and get a script for these, as they won't do it either. hmmm, wonder if that will happen. we've never taken ds to the docs, wonder if they will take this as a sign of neglect or a 1st timer who knows what she is doing, most of the time?

Been having a great time last few days. Mum stayed, and helped me wean ds from daytime boobfeeds. it's going ok. i have 6 hours out tomorrow at a work thing, my longest away since he was born.

i am writing this sat on the sofa on a new media centre thingy connected to the TV. all nicely wireless, but i can't see too much of this little type in text box...so i am afraid my typing might go cod-like until i get better, i'll try not to try your patience.

nice to be back online. caN i have a go at a new thread then to test my new sofasurfingskills?

merryberry · 22/03/2006 10:00

.........HE SLEPT THROUGH........

insert shock awe and happiness emoticons here

DiamondsAreForever · 22/03/2006 16:02

Merryberry, I am so pleased for you that he slept through! We are yet to have that pleasure and i believe I have aged about ten years in the last few months- I find myself skipping breakfast just for ten more minutes sleep!
dd is waking starving hungry at 6am at present, she and the cat have a great system where they take it in turns to howl until we get up. Grin

hoxtonchick · 23/03/2006 08:45

:o Envy mb!

how's your new house daf?

mrsdarcy · 23/03/2006 17:56

As well as her usual 2-hourly wake-up-and-feed, last night DD added crying/fretfulness and a 5.30am start Sad. She has continued grizzling all day with a couple of cat-naps. I am SO exhausted

I really must get her room sorted out so I can sleep-train her but with all this builders' mess around me I just can't get my act together. I need to strip the wallpaper before I can get the plasterer in, and instead of just admitting that I won't get round to stripping the wallpaper - and calling the decorator to do it for me - I am letting it hold up the whole thing. There are great gaping holes in the walls so I guess I really should get it plastered first (even if I don't get it decorated straightaway).

Oh, there's more bellowing...

Eulalia · 24/03/2006 16:52

My kids will be teenagers before our house is sorted! Hope the new kitchen is wonderful Mrs D and that dd is better soon.

Great news on sleeping babe MB!

Belo - how's your dd now?

ds2 is crawling everywhere now although is quite slow. My 3 have all been different - ds1 was a bottom shuffler and very proficient - absolutely hilarious to watch. dd was a crab like crawler and ds2 seems to do it more 'commando style' with dragging his legs and lifting himself up on his toes.

No teeth yet....

ds1 won two prizes at the Bulb Show :) However he wouldn't read any poems.

Am sick of this cold weather - hope it gets better for the Easter hols.

merryberry · 24/03/2006 18:15

it's warming up down here in london Eulalia. blowing hot air your way, in more ways than one i'm sure. the good thing about having the baby arond is that he gets my talk overflow....

nrsD, why not sleep train anyway on the grounds you are going to let your toddler decorate themselves in a couple of years...say it is your commitment to art.

i have the night in alone and have the latest harry potter and downfall about hitler's last days to gorge my filmic self on. weird combo i expect. now where's that pizza menu?

mrsdarcy · 24/03/2006 18:45

That's one heck of a film combo MB!

I don't mind DD being in an undecorated room, but we replaced the window in her room and there is lots of bare crumbling plasterwork around it. Although last night I slept in the spare room with my poor lonesome DH, and DD stayed in the matrimonial bedroom and slept really well Smile. I'm so pleased, and feel like a new woman today. DD has been on much better form as well.

Well done on DS2's crawling, Eulalia! Very impressive. I'm hoping DD holds off until the building work is finished, but she's definitely getting ready for it.

DiamondsAreForever · 26/03/2006 15:02

Happy Mother's Day!
and a special happy first mothers day to all first timers!
I have just finished feeding my Mum, my sister, my Dad and my dh, and dd, now I am just about to have a nice glass of wine and put my feet up and let them all do the washing up!
have a lovely day everyone!
x

merryberry · 28/03/2006 18:45

oh that's lovely daf, thank you. but aren't you erm supposed to getr mum's day off? sounds like work, nice though to have the family around.

ds started at nursery this week. all i can say is \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=48879&topicid=2320&threadid=159556&redir=48879\Gah!}

ya boo sucks.

DiamondsAreForever · 28/03/2006 21:10

what an awful time you're having mb- I hope you manage to kick some management butt and get your money back. Still, hopefully you'll have time to find somewhere else. Just don't go on sharingcare, it's useless!
btw- where is everyone? I looked to see if someone had started a new thread but no- maybe everyone's too busy scoffing Mothers Day choccies...

Monkeybar · 28/03/2006 21:15

I HAven't been on MN long and I wish I HAD been on when I was preg. Anyway, I have a July 2005 baby and wondered if I'm allowed to join your thread please, even at this late stage?
Haven't read all the posts BTW. Should I introduce myself on another thread, or is that bad manners?

blondie82 · 28/03/2006 21:56

hey monkeybar. welcome to the thread!!
dd cut her first tooth on sunday :o so pleased

Monkeybar · 28/03/2006 22:39

Thank you. Got a bit sidetracked reading the MMR thread, not lookign forward to THAT decision, glad it's still a way off for our lovely littlies! My ds got both his bottom teeth almost at the same time and without too much hassle. I think he's starting to feel the top ones though Sad

Just so you know, ds smiles for England, has just started rolling onto his tummy and then staying there, kicking his legs a bit and then pivoting round. Don't think it'll be long before he's crawling. STill wakes in the night for a snack. Brightens my life and is the centre of my world!

mrsdarcy · 28/03/2006 22:50

Welcome Monkeybar Smile. Great about the tooth Blondie!

You are having a shitty time aren't you MB? fwiw I'd go with my gut instinct and bin the nursery right now. Although maybe going through the motions for 1 more day will make it easier to negotiate getting your money back. How are your thyroid problems? Are you feeling better now you are being treated?

The boys made me lovely cards for mother's day but that was about it. DH had to work all day and I forgot about the clocks going forward so missed meeting up with people Sad. I was more organised when I was getting no sleep! Never mind, the boys were really very sweet and kept telling me it was a special day.

Second attempt at DD's underwater photograph this weekend. The teacher is going to phone me the day before to re-remind me Grin

merryberry · 29/03/2006 09:10

hello monkeybar, just dive right in! cheers all. suprisingly, i'm not wond up by the nursery thing. i was expecting problems. i won't say teething problems as i now know exactly what those are like and they are way worse than picking and choosing baby care:)

dp and are are agreed - we're both going in this pm and will talk to the managers, with an aim to leaving gracefully. i need to call my number two choice nursery as well this am and see about vacancies. the upside of being in central london is that there are hordes of childcare facilities even if they do have many staffing issues; have also asked a nanny friend for advice.

and of course, been reading the bac issues of MN threads. will take the ahring care advice! many thanks, and much love to you ladies.

may teeth, children and blokes and jobs be kind to you...

oh, sorry, yes thyroid, well the level of thyroxine in my lood is in normal range now, but the thyroid stimulating hormone which was sky high before and should have come down is still over the upper limit. anyway i feel so much better, and am losing weight and getting fit nicely.

Belo · 29/03/2006 10:09

MB, I've posted on your nursery thread. Hope you're ok.

MrsD, how's the building chaos? We've contacted our builder and he's due to start next Wednesday. Mmnn. We've had various start dates come and go without any sign of him.

On the teething front, dd2 has become happy again, but without any sign of any more teeth. Just the bottom two still. She was so miserable though all of last week and gthe week before that we had to give her Calpol everynight. All of a sudden though she's gone back to being her happy smily self. She's still not crawling, but goes from sitting to being on her hands and knees. She stays like this for a bit and then goes back to sitting. She loves to stand. If when she's sitting you hold her hands she pulls her self up and them smiles the worlds proudest smile! She's also developing a sense of hummour and laughs and laughs when dd1 is fooling around with her. I have pictures of life getting easier with the two of them entertaining each other. Does this happen Mums of 3 or am I living in a fantasy world?

Eulalia, how is it way up north? Is it getting milder? All the buds are coming out in our garden and I really feel like spring is almost here. Definitely a lot milder too.

Monkeybar, welcome to you!

Supposed to be working at home today. Work is yucky today though. Must stop getting distracted by Mumsnet!
