Well, mine is anyway .
Here it is - a new thread to celebrate the new year with our babies.
Back later - I'm on the laptop at the mo and find it tricky to use smaller keyboard to type.

hi new to all this excellent chat...My son born 17/07 not crawling loves to bounce, just started to wean ?? how much food do you give ?had the rice than puree fruit and carrot (not together)but abit confused at amount to give. He was 6wks prem so do i take that into consideration ??

mrsdarcy · 06/01/2006 14:49

Congratulations on the new place Merryberry . Is it in the same part of London? Hope poor Vin is feeling better.

Welcome Joje. What a lot of new people.

Blondie (and the other new bods)- if you feel like it add something to the stats list, same sort of information everyone else has put.

Just had last appointment at the dentist, hurrah, so will celebrate by making some lovely apple/pecan muffins with the boys .

DD is sleeping at last. She has had a very grouchy day and refused to sleep during her hearing test (today's hospital appmt. Monday is eyes). It was obvious to all that she could hear, as she was so delighted with anyone who replied to her opening gambits of "da da da da da", "ga ga..." etc. Obviously the most beautiful baby there. I really convince myself that the staff are so nice to us because they are excited at seeing such a gorgeous baby.

Joje · 06/01/2006 15:09

hi what are stats

lilianna · 06/01/2006 15:34

hi ds1 is 3yrs dd is 2yrs and ds2 born 23/07/05 and expecting no4 12/07/06

Eulalia · 06/01/2006 15:55

My ds isn't sitting up yet although I think he's the youngest here so not worrying yet. Not started solids either - leaving that till the end of the month.

Just had a final clear out of all the 0-3 month clothes as he was still fitting in some of them until quite recently. He's still very petite but 'grown up' in other ways ie alert, smiling etc so we get stopped a lot in shops, more so than the other two were.

Hello to all the newcomers. The 'stats' thread Joje is wehre we put all our statistics, ie personal info about ourselves.

Blimey lilianna - you are pregnant again! already! Congrats - I think you are mad though

I've not even had my periods back yet but looks like it will be well over a year before they return and I am not complaining.

Must go ds2 is bugging me.

Bagpuss30 · 06/01/2006 16:17

Welcome Joje and Blondie .

Well, ds2 looks like he's has a spray tan now - how the blimmin' heck to you get carrot off them .

He wasn't keen but did have areally good long sleep afterwards and I had to go and wake him for his 2.00pm feed.

Eulalia, are you getting rid of the baby things? I'm still finding that bit hard but really should do as I could probably make some cash.

blondie82 · 06/01/2006 17:32

well my dd was born 25/7/05 weighing 7lb 3oz. been with my bf for about 2 years now, though not living together just yet.

thanks for all the welcomes

hoxtonchick · 06/01/2006 20:39

dd has got baaaaaaaad separation anxiety . what great timing, a month before she starts nursery.... it's flattering & upsetting in equal measure.

no babbling here yet, just lots of meaningful grunts!

mrsdarcy · 06/01/2006 21:04

Blimey Lilianna . Congratulations but no way could I do that! How are you feeling?

Still no sign of a period but there is definitely something hormonal going on. I even did a pregnancy test at Christmas (negative!) as my hair was falling out so much, which is usually my first sign of pregnancy. I'm putting off doing another one as I am too knackered to contemplate being pregnant again (although it's that attitude which led to my current uncertainty - too gormless to buy condoms ). Aaaaanyway, it's a pretty slim chance so I'm sure it's just my hormones awakening.

DD is asleep, first time in ages she's been asleep at this time. I plonked her in her bed, tucked her in, turned all the lights off and closed the door. Don't know how long it will last but I'm going to have a curry with DH whilst we have some chance of an evening together

mrsdarcy · 06/01/2006 21:06

Oh HC, bad timing on DD's part. Glad pinkmama is ok.

Bagpuss, is the carrot internal or external? I ask because I gave DS2 so much carrot that he turned slightly orange. We have photographs of him looking like an advert from the early days of fake tanning!

I gave DD her first non-baby rice meal today, and she choked and threw it up. I don't think it was well enough pureed.

Joje · 07/01/2006 16:26

Hi thanku Eulalia for explaining. My ds was born 17/07/05 and weighed 6lb, he was 6wks prem (eek would have been a big baby at full term)I had GBS which caused the early date.I have another ds who is 18 and have been married for 4years.Thankyou for the welcome x

Bagpuss30 · 07/01/2006 17:09

mrsd, carrot only external, has finally come off now! at your uncertainty. dh all for throwing caution to the wind at times but I tell him not to be so silly - I only have enough patience for three.

I was wondering today when all the tiredness is going to stop and when I will actually enjoy things like shopping and going out for the evening again, so I think I may fianlly have reached my limit .

HC, bad timing for you - no advice though, but I hope it resolves soon. Hi to PM and tell her to do some posting!!! .

Well today we braved John Lewis for new china (so you can all drop in for lunch now if you like ). Not quite sure how we managed it with a 5 year old, 3 year old and baby in pushchair in tow! No other news - ds2 still flopping about everywhere and not sitting [sigh].

OP posts:
Eulalia · 08/01/2006 12:06

joje - wow big baby. My ds1 was only 6lbs 2oz and that was at 41 weeks. Am probably being dumb but what is GBS?

Bagpuss - I don't have anything worth selling really. Have passed on a few things to other people and some to charity shop. However have kept a 'memento bag' for each child with favourite outfits, little hats etc. They may want to use them for their own child(ren) or maybe not! dd's bag is rather large though as there are just so many cute dresses. I am glad to shift stuff though as we are short of space here and it means I can get new baby stuff I get nearly new stuff at the NCT sales and its all good quality.

Anyone else with 3 kids finding it hard work but also really nice as its as if you have a bit of everything... 3 year old a bit of a handful but nice having baby and I am finding getting into older kid stuff enjoyable. I got a Lego set out last night for ds1. It's still too hard for him but I really enjoyed constructing this boat (more than he did!)

Well the sun is shining so I'd better get on so we can go out and get some fresh air.

i also have a treasure box for each with all their special lil bits in
oh yeah and as for ironing i spend about 1 1/2 hours a day and still cant keep up

muma3 · 08/01/2006 16:46

sorry hun speling atroscous

hub2dee · 08/01/2006 17:57

Still in California, just wanted to post and say hi. Have had a semi-hectic time, with far too much shuffling from place to place laden with an obscene number of suitcases, and both dw and I have been feeling semi-pants at various times. We might come home earlier than expected but not sure...

Weather is still glorious. Unbelievable. Camille is winning in the 'things bought in America' competition, LOL. Will try and upload an album at some point.

They have quite good puréed baby food (no added anything, organic) which dd demolishes 2 or 3 times a day. My cousin gave us a couple of cool baby bits: one is a kind of small, soft sieve sac on the end of a plastic holder and you put food in it and baby kind of chomps / sucks it through IYSWIM. The other thing is a small tub for finger-foods which has a silicon top slitted from the centre so older babies can shove their hand in to grab bits, but if the bowl spills everything stays inside, held in by the slitted lid...

Hope you and yours are all well.

latearrival · 08/01/2006 20:12

Hello to all the new posters. That means I am no longer the newest on the block!

Mrs D - having been reminded by yourself about Waterbabies I have managed to sign up dd and I for a course starting this week. I didn't realise they are submerged from day one and now that the day is almost here I am feeling a little apprehensive. How did Harriet respond when put under the water the first time? Did you manage to get a photo in the end?

latearrival · 08/01/2006 20:22

Mrs D - forgot to add good wishes for your appointments. Also dd doesn't roll over and neither did ds at this stage and I can't remember when he started.

mrsdarcy · 08/01/2006 21:25

Hi Latearrival

DD still loves waterbabies. We start the next course on Tuesday, in a warmer (hydrotherapy) pool. She was just fine the first time she went underwater - behaved as though it was something she did every day.

Our appointments are going fine. It was ears on Friday. Eyes tomorrow. Brain (which I can't help thinking and writing as Brian ) in a few weeks and everything (paed) in a few weeks too. I just need to check on my various coping mechanisms and I'm fine about it. As long as the appmts carry on being boring and I can be cranky about them - much better than the appmts being because they are really worried about her, iyswim. The appointments are getting quite expensive though. I have got spooked by driving recently, partly through sleep deprivation and partly because I had a v minor crash on the way home from one appmt, so last time I got a cab and it is £10 each way so with this many appmts soon adds up.

My boys never really rolled over either, at least not until they were so active that it wasn't something to notice. I'm generally determindly uncompetitive about babies as it spoils the fun of them. I was just having a feeble day

Hub. those baby gizmos sound great. Sorry you and DW are feeling pants. I bet you'll get back to London with colds from the air conditioning on the plane and wish you had stayed in the US until spring. Don't know what London is like but it is COLD up here. There you go, in the US you don't have boring women you've never met going on about the weather do you?

hoxtonchick · 08/01/2006 21:31

dd put her arms out to me to have a cuddle for the first time yesterday . AND ds went for his first sleepover last night, with his cousin & grandparents. so dp got up with dd this morning & had her for 3.5 hours whilst i slept it. bliss. she had a huge bowl of yoghurt, & he got her to go to sleep for the first time without my assistance. hooray on so many levels!

food going really well here. she practically grabbed the spoon from me tonight, for sweet potato, butternut squash & chicken. weaning isn't as bad as i was fearing. i'm going to make beef casserole for the children tomorrow, then ds can have it whole & dd pureed. god, sorry, this is quite dull .

latearrival · 08/01/2006 22:31

Glad to hear the appts are going well. Thanks for feedback re waterbabies.

HC - all that food sounds wonderful - glad the weaning has gone so smoothly.

merryberry · 09/01/2006 08:17

mrs D, could you have a single driving lesson from an advanced course teacher to restore your confidence? My mate did this last year in almost exactly the same circumstances as you. My mum also did the course about 5 years ago and benefited from it enourmously. Good luck with the appts. I take Vin to his ICU follow up appt on Thursday and then we move houseon Friday.

All that ironing is still there. And I am having b'fast in front of BBLB. Vin is not eating at the moment following his week long cold. He is a bit better but appetite not back. Hope it comes back soon HC, I think weaning is a blast, very funny!

H2D - don't come back it's grey and sullen here. And that's just the London street life. Can you find somewhere nice, with a pool, near a book shop and with broadband and just stay put a while? Give D a big hello from me. xxx

Bagpuss30 · 09/01/2006 10:42

Hi Hub, nice to hear from you and hope you and dw are feeling better soon. Is the sieve thingy this by any chance? I saw it a while ago and thought it looked interesting.

HC, ds2 had some banana yog yesterday and wasn't too keen, in fact the look on his face was a real picture. I have bought some breakfast stuff for him and am going to try him with two meals per day this week.

mrsd, glad the appointments are going ok .

mb, huge sympathies with the ironing - I have 5 loads of washing to do today. Not sure where it has come from as we were all up to date on Friday night!

ds2 is sitting in his highchair with me at the kitchen table at the moment trying to work out how to open a magazine up - quite funny watching him, he looks so determined!

Right best be off - ds1 stood in his radiator thermostat this morning trying to look out of the bedroom window and it is now falling off so I am trying to get hold of british gas again to see if we are covered.
