New thread just for you star!

Well, hopefully not just for you, or it could get a bit boring talking to yourself Grin.

Can all of your 3 year olds write their name?
We get the first letter and he regularly traces the whole name at preschool, but totally uninterested in writing anything other than the first letter regularly...mi KNOW as a teacher, that it doesn't matter the tiniest jot whether he writes it or reads...etc at 3 or at 4,5,6 or even 7! But just curious if he's the only one just interested in the first letter.

I have students from Scandinavian countries who enter at 7, never having been to school or taught to read or write and by Summer they are caught up to their peers and go on to do very well. It is difficult to keep it all in perspective with my own child, though Wink

D can't write his own name, but is starting to recognise the letter D when he sees it on stuff out and about.

Oh yes whenever we see Quavers in a shop, Q thinks it says Quinlan. He always wants them. Blick

Ekka · 11/05/2012 03:35

Congratulations on the job csws, good luck for your first day.

Myjob, I hope you are feeling better now? It sounds as if N draws beautifully, M is the opposite, he isn't that keen on drawing pictures, but loves writing his name everywhere...

Pepper - eek to the roof, this is NOT the weather you need while they sort it.

Pistachio, your dd2 sounds v similar to my ds2 - though that doesn't stop my mum from telling me all the 'words' she can hear him saying Hmm.

HP I hope things are ok with you? I adore creme eggs and ate way too many over Easter, now I need to start getting myself into shape for my sister's wedding this summer as I'm going to be a bridesmaid and although the day is all about her, I would like to be able to look at the photos of me afterwards and not cringe!!!

So dh is back in Vancouver, no jobs as yet, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that something comes up either here or there. I don't think I'm really cut out for this single parent stuff - I can do the organisation ok, but my patience is already wearing thin and hes only been gone 1 week! I'm also trying to get the house sorted so that if we do need to move it will be ready to put on the market quickly so I've decorated the spare room and need to get the master bedroom and downstairs sorted too (though I will definitely get someone in to do the kitchen - I know my limitations!) and if we don't move at least I may finally have a decent looking house...

Hello. Am I still allowed here? Smile

I will try & read back through. But in the mean time.

I hope everyone is still ok and all our small ones are growing up fast. I know my small boy has finally left behind most of the hideous nightmare that is toddlerdom.

Life is very busy here and mumsnet always seems to be the thing that is forgotten. I do have a new laptop now so hopefully I will be back more often. (my hard drive died a death)

Anyway. Big wave to everyone.

HavePatience · 19/05/2012 22:45

Hi Ronshar :). ((hug))
Nice to see you!

ronshar · 23/05/2012 19:41

Yipee It's sunny. How amazing is that. Love the sunshine.
Does everyone have sun?

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/05/2012 21:47

I think there was sun outside my office yes Hmm.

It's fantastic. I spent most of the day outside with my class :)

HavePatience · 23/05/2012 22:10

How's the job going, csws?

HavePatience · 29/05/2012 21:34

Huge congrats to coconutfeet! :) anyone else around?

ronshar · 01/06/2012 22:50

CSWS You have my sympathy. I seem to spend a lot of time staring out the window at the sunshine and then my days off in the rain/gloom!

HP, you teachers don't know how lucky you are.Grin

HavePatience · 02/06/2012 21:59

Oh no. I know exactly how lucky I am Grin I adore my job - every last thing about it. I honestly don't think I could have a better job. Yeah, hard work...etc. but totally perfect in every way Smile

My 3 yr old is being really demanding lately Hmm "I want it RIGHT NOW!"

It gets NO response. Or it gets the response of "no. That is not how we ask for things". But he still does it sometimes Hmm
Other things as well.
Has anyone ever cried because of feeling like a failure managing the behaviour of their child? Blush or am I all alone? Sad

HavePatience · 02/06/2012 22:00

Sorry I make him sound like a little monster. He is generally very well behaved. But when he is over tired it's a freaking nightmare

pepperrabbit · 03/06/2012 13:37

Very normal behaviour by both of you HP!
Came on to say Happy Jubilee everyone Smile Crown
We had our local carnival yesterday, parade and funfair. Kids had a ball though we lost DS2 for 15 heartstopping minutes right near the end, Crowds had really thinned out and he simply vanished. Awful.
Then, when he turned up he had no idea he'd been "lost", he'd just wandered towards the music stage, watched the band... mosied back....
I aged maybe 15 years! (and cried Blush)
I just feel the need to do this again though - Crown!

Ekka · 04/06/2012 19:05

Oh pepper, how terrifying...

We are considering going into London tomorrow for the procession down the mall - are we insane? I was there for the Golden Jubilee and by luck I managed to get a great position right at the gates in front of the balcony. I doubt we'd be so lucky this time round, but I think it might be nice for the kids to see the bunting/flags and crowds and maybe see a little of London as a Diamond Jubilee may well not happen again in their lifetime. We are probably crazy!!!

CSWS, I hope the job is going ok?

HP - you are obviously in your dream job, it really shows and I think that's great! And Q sounds lovely, even his little stroppy moments! Dd still does that and she will be 5 on thursday (eek - how is that possible, we haven't even thought about a present yet Blush)

pepperrabbit · 05/06/2012 18:03

Did you go Ekka? Looks wet!
