New thread just for you star!

Well, hopefully not just for you, or it could get a bit boring talking to yourself Grin.

Today, the kids came in a few at a time with their parents for 45 minutes each and led them through their portfolio of work produced thus far in our class. We've selected pieces to go in over the year for each subject area, write reflections, update learning goals...etc. it's a lovely day with students in charge of the conference and parents celebrating their work. It's just a busy few days prior making sure all is in order...etc.

Of course I was on hand to explain or offer insight...etc. particularly when they got to the work habits and social skills section. It's a positive day and such a lovely, buzzing atmosphere. I'm knackered, though! No idea why. :).
Inservice tomorrow.

Are you finally feeling better, myjob?

HavePatience · 15/03/2012 21:33

Ok. I have just ONE child and NO pelvic floor or so it seems.
I am always so tired. It's not that I have anything more to do than the ordinary person. Even on quiet days and lazy weekends at home, I'm knackered. I cannot get iron up. Hb still around 8, which isn't bad considering where it was at times during pregnancy, but I don't know what else to do, loads of IRon rich food and vitamin C to absorb (kiwi...etc). Plus Iron tabs 2x/day. Feel dizzy a lot and no energy. I fake it until I make it at home and work.

Sorry, just a little moan Blush

HavePatience · 15/03/2012 21:34

Oh, and spatone and floradix!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/03/2012 22:47

Would it be worth having some red meat star, or is that something that you would not consider under any circumstances?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 15/03/2012 22:47

Do you drink tea at all?

OP posts:
HavePatience · 16/03/2012 07:42

I would consider poultry but have never been able to choke down red meat. Nutritionist says it is not the best source of iron as popularly believed so that's a relief.
I drink herbal tea - no coffee or regular tea as I don't like the taste
Geeeeez I'm a difficult patient! Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/03/2012 10:30

Not drinking tea is good, as iirc it stops iron absorption Smile.

Am not sure what else to suggest!

evening all.
I'm all over the place this week, last week and next - every setting they go to has done a Mother's Day thing cost me a fortune, there's mufti days all over the place, DS1 had a trip, school photos, Homework left right and centre - even DD came home with a sheet that said "what i did at half term" she was supposed to do pictures on Hmm. As i have no recollection of whether this came from nursery or pre-school i just threw it away....
Then there's Easter extravaganza, DS2 actually has dress in the colours of an Olympic Ring day next week, closely followed by Sports relief - one has dress in PE kit, one has mufti the other has to wear an easter bonnet - or is that the week after......
picture Munchs The Scream. That's me.
The thing is - apparently it just gets worse...
DS2 was sent home malingering poorly yesterday and i kept him home today. I forgot to feed him any dinner Shock Blush
Does ReadyBrek count as a hot dinner?
Apart from that all is well!
HP sorry Q is all bunged up again - and I definitely think you may just need more calories. If i try to eat healthily all the time, I feel grim, seriously.
Need to post this and then scroll up to check on everyone else! Blush

HavePatience · 16/03/2012 20:45

No worries, there are no more suggestions. Thanks for trying, though! I'm trying chicken and turkey this week
I'm hardly exercising as no energy and definitely taking in loads of chocolate calories Grin

Pistachio, that's lovely! :) Does DD not tell you what she does at school? I was hoping that would get better as Q gets older. Damn it. Right now we get one sentence about preschool, like "it was zzzzzz today. Like a zebra". From cm I get more information but again about one activity only. I keep thinking, when he's older, he'll tell us more. But not looking good!

I can't believe DD2 is crawling already! No way. She's just a teeny newborn. How quickly does time go?!

It is a lot of work, but so worth it, even if only just because of how much parents enjoy it. Your DD isn't even in my class but hearing you say that makes me feel good about all that was done to get them sorted! We used binders and had several 'spills' from not so careful kids throughout

I loved seeing my students take such ownership over their learning and presenting what they have learned/articulating their goals to their parents with such confidence. I love my job!

HavePatience · 16/03/2012 20:50

Mufti? Confused
Just when I think I have all of the lingo sussed, out comes 'mufti'... Im actually laughing as it sounds so funny!

Pepper your life sounds chaotic. I'm out of breath reading about it Blush

HavePatience · 16/03/2012 20:51

Mufti mufti mufti
I'm not even going to google it
It could be a word for
Mother?
Fancy dress?
Some sort of character?
Mufti!! Hahahaha! I'm going to use it on dh now

pepperrabbit · 16/03/2012 21:07
Grin It means they can wear their own clothes to school instead of uniform that day!
HavePatience · 16/03/2012 21:38

How funny!

HavePatience · 16/03/2012 21:39

We don't have uniforms, so everyday is mufti day!

Mufti

Just had to say it again. I'll get over it soon. Promise. Mufti. Ahhhh! Sorry.

I cannot believe how quickly time has passed since little P was born. It feels like a few weeks ago, honestly!

How funny they are about sharing their days! I'll have to keep an extra eye out as he'll be at my school. I guess the only info I get will be from knowing as a teacher or seeing it as its already so minimal from preschool.

pepperrabbit · 17/03/2012 21:22

HP Grin
Neither of my boys tell me anything. In fact on Tuesday at the Infants there was a nasty incident where a child got knocked out, there was an ambulance (with lights and everything) and much excitement and drama.
DS2 had a friend to tea, NEITHER of them mentioned it. I only found out on fb from another mum. When questioned DS2 looked puzzled, then said "yeah, X got knocked unconscious and banged his head, then he was sick then he went to hospital"
This is the kind of stuff I expect them to remember!
I have high hopes of DD though, she's got beady eyes that one Smile

MUFTI - just for you star!

HavePatience · 17/03/2012 21:39
Grin Wow I can't believe they didn't talk about that! Kids really are egocentric for so long!
HavePatience · 20/03/2012 20:20

Do you stay with your dc at a party for a child turning 4?? Mother said "Either way is fine"
I don't know these parents at all, just that my ds goes to preschool with their DS. I just feel weird leaving him. Would I be pfb to stay? Blush he's so little still!

pepperrabbit · 20/03/2012 20:36

I still stay with J star, I know she would need help if she needed a poo! Not fair to ask another mummy to deal with that if they're running a party.
I went to one recently for a 3yr old and one of the mum's left her DD (already 3). i had to look after her, she'd have had no food, no drink and I constantly had to wipe her nose. i was Angry and Hmm and Confused.
So, i think you're fine to stay. A few parents stayed for DSs 5th party last year and that was fine.

HavePatience · 20/03/2012 20:39

Yes those things Q may need help with as well. but I'm glad it's not being precious. I didn't want to be 'that mother' that stayed or 'that mother' that left. I also think I'll have to have a party for ds in Oct (finally) and I don't want to be left with his entire class of 4 year olds Blush
