New thread just for you star!

Well, hopefully not just for you, or it could get a bit boring talking to yourself Grin.

All by myself....

Boo!
I'm here Smile

myjob - glad you're finally on the mend! That was a long old illness.
I'm currently making a sort of Roman gladiator costume out of a pillowcase. i am sooo undomesticated so this is very trying - and then I discover most of the other parents have simply bought them Angry.
This is for DS1 for school tomorrow - had to last a whole day Hmm
they'll be sorry when my £3.50 pillowcase looks better than their £20 fancy dress tat

And I have a spare pillowcase as was a pack of 2....

HavePatience · 22/02/2012 21:56

Oh I am SO happy to hear you are feeling better, myjob! Smile

Pepper how did it turn out? Dh will be doing all of that stuff in our future school years. He's the one who can sew and is artistic. I would totally cry fail. Props to you for doing it all from scratch! That alone will make it special!

I feel like I have a winter fat layer. Well, I do. Not just a feeling. I wonder how long it would take to lose about 8lbs? I don't want to put in any extreme effort Blush as I'm so tired. Very anaemic right now - blood tests every 5 weeks, iron tabs twice per day, spatone, sometimes floradix, loads of iron rich foods. Before double iron tabs, HB was at 8 (with something after decimal, can't recall now), which is where it was during a lot of pregnancy.... Was WELL below that just after the birth, but that's different. No, I am not pg. that is ruled out. My body isn't absorbing iron properly so it seems Confused
Will see how double iron tabs work in another month or so.
I feel dizzy often, spatial perceptions all a bit off. I feel odd driving some days. I tried to go for a jog and nearly collapsed. So... I'm not sure what to do to keep fit atm.

My bp is also super low and I find that shoving a sweet or piece of bread into my mouth does help when I feel like the dizziness is too much.

Anyway, that's my recent moan Blush

Ekka · 23/02/2012 20:50

HP - what is your BMI? Because I've never thought you looked remotely as if you had a layer of fat! If your bp is low and you are anaemic then you shouldn't be trying hard to lose weight. Mind you - don't take weight loss tips from me - I am supposed to be trying to lose weight (about 2.5 stone as my bmi is over 27) and instead I made the microwave tablet recipe that I found on here at Xmas except I did double quantities to use up an old tin of evapourated milk and now keep nipping into the kitchen to eat a piece Blush

Maybe thats why D is now 20lbs and on his way up the centiles?!?! He is only 8lbs lighter than M Shock

Myjob, hope you stay well - you've definitely had your share of illness recently.

Stress central here about jobs (or lack of them) I may be left on my own with the kids while dh goes to stay with his parents for a few months to try and get a job over there - eek! The alternative is that he stays at home and I go back to work full time which would just about cover the basics but mean v tight budgeting.

HavePatience · 23/02/2012 21:02

What's the microwave tablet recipe... Sounds interesting.
I currently weigh 118lbs. I am 5ft 2 and a half inches tall and I like to weigh 110lbs. I want to lose 8 lbs because I feel the layer. No clue what my BMI is. I stopped looking when I flipped about Q's on a calculator and doctor told me he looks normal and bmi calcs aren't always fitting to everyone. Confused

HavePatience · 23/02/2012 21:04

Ekka - could you all go to Canada while dh looks for a job? Or is it very uncertain? Would you like to go to work / would dh like to stay home?

Thanks pistachio I will ask about that at my next blood test.
I'm glad that you have a 50 centile baby now - so that you don't collapse from carrying her! Grin. I carried Q about 100 yards today and thought something might breakBlush

I Found scooters for dh and I on eBay cheaply and now we can all scoot together! Fun Smile

Myjob Q had that rash that looked like measles with slapped cheek/Scarlett fever whatever it was in the end! All over. Yuck. After he discovered he'd had mmr, dr looked for meningitis signs.
Piriton helped a lot. Some bits were hot on his body like a sunburn Confused. I hope it passes quickly!!

Ekka · 26/02/2012 08:04

Myjob, that sounds nasty for N - I hope she isn't feeling too bad? It's good to hear you are feeling better - long may it last!

HP what a great idea about the scooters, my two don't have scooters yet but if we ever invest for the kids I'm definitely going to use that as an excuse to get one for myself!!!

I have to admit that 3 months potentially on my own with the kids is daunting especially as family are about 3-4hrs drive away, but there are no guarantees that we will move so it would be silly to disrupt things until there's more certainty, especially as dd is in reception now. I'm sure pepper will report if she sees me wandering round town in my pjs with straws in my hair muttering wildly to myself Grin

CSWS - any more news on the job front for your dh? And what about you Myjob - is anything more certain for you?

Pistachio - is P really 18lb 3? I can't believe she is lighter than ds2 - he doesn't look bigger than her so how on earth is he so heavy???? I have created a monster Confused. He's killing my back so I hope hes an early walker though as he can't lift his immense tummy off the floor yet I'm not holding out much hope! Poor ds1 is going to be totally out muscled by ds2 soon...

Grr typed a long post and bloody internet dropped Angry
Quick summary!
Hello!
Ekka - if I see you looking like that I shall whisk you to Costa and force you to eat tiffin Smile
myjob - poor N, glad she's recovering and still perky!
HP - I'm impressed by your scootering - I tried on one of the boys scooters the other day and it was not elegant! Some mums do scoot to school and I htink they are very brave to do that in public.
I've been gardening in the sunshine today, very therapeutic ripping out all the dead stuff and seeing the new shoots underneath. makes me happy Smile

HavePatience · 26/02/2012 21:22

It took a few mins to get the hang of it, pepper, but once we did it was great. It's fun! we are the parents who play on the equipment with DS on our local playground, though. So quite used to the stares Grin

Ekka I hope it works out for you either way. Could anyone in your family drive down and stay with you for a week or so while dh is away?

Myjob and csws yes I was wondering, too about your dhs and jobs. How is it all going? I hope things are looking up! X

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/02/2012 13:59

Sadly no change on the (no) job front here, but thanks for asking.

:( csws.
Where is coconut feet?

PP you made cake pops, right? I've made the cake, cooled it and crumbled it and mixed in icing last night. It looks a good consistency, we'll see. It's in the refrigerator now. When I get home, I want to roll balls, melt chocolate and dip them in. But I have no sticks. Could they be cake balls without sticks for this first time or is the stick essential in the choc dipping part? And how can I be sure it doesn't die once dipped in choc and how long does it take to cool?
Wow. That's a lot of questions and I've posted this in the 3 mins I have while students are on way to dance class before my meeting, so you prob won't get this until much later, either. I may put it off until tomorrow night.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/02/2012 13:55

Just did a quick search for her and it looks like all is going well with her pregnancy, and she's around 30 weeks now :).

HavePatience · 28/02/2012 13:59

Oh so exciting! I wish she'd come share the joy here :)

HavePatience · 28/02/2012 19:39

If anyone is around, please can you look at our fb group and give your opinion. Sad

Purpleprickles · 28/02/2012 20:04

HP I've just replied on fb. You can make cake balls, I find them a bit trickier but the idea is to immerse them in the chocolate on a spoon and then tap the excess chocolate off the spoon with your finger. If you have a baking sheet covered with grease proof paper you can roll the cake ball onto the sheet. They will harden quite quickly in a cool kitchen but should be kept in the fridge to harden properly. Let me know how you get on.

Hi to everyone else Smile

HavePatience · 28/02/2012 20:07

Pretty sure CSWS is royalty admin so maybe FB message her in case she's not on MN at the mo??
You have the new timeline on FB...
