OK this is it I have started the thread in the vain hope that someone on the December antenatal thread will pop and come and join me, I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now and to be honest with you I think your all being a little selfish making me wait around on my own .

Can't believe I am the one starting this thread I'm not due till 18/12/05 yet by then George will be nearly 6 weeks old, I tell you what though I feel really really sorry for the last person to give birth from December as they will be dying to get onto this thread by then.

As sad as this may seem over the next few days (or weeks if you lot don't get popping) I'm going to post on this thread little messages so that when people start crossing over they have something to read, well that is what I intend to do anyway but whether George lets me do that is a totally different thing.
I shall deffo post my birth story on here I have waited so long to do it so expect that to appear in the next day or so.

So come on over ladies the grass really is greener on the other side.

HERES WISHING YOU MANY HAPPY NAPPIES [GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN]

ebbie the place we are going to is called Tilford Woods in Surrey. Its not very far from us (we are in east sussex) and it will be my first proper holiday for years, all my other holidays have been to visit family etc and we are sooooooo excited, it will also be perfect timing as I should be starting back at work Aprilish time if I decide to go back so I will be all refreshed.

georgeandwigglyjake · 24/01/2006 11:53

Flutter, sounds lovely. Very about the hot tub .
We are off to cornwall in a couple of weeks, it will be a bit different to our usual drunken visits!! Still no drinking for me by the way - am I a freak???

Nemo, Jake has a rash over his face too. Looks like lots of little spots. Let me know if you find out what Hannahs is.

I must be regaining some kind of life, posting 2 days in a row.

DQ, where are you???? Hope all is well.

georgeandwigglyjake · 24/01/2006 12:08

Nemo, does this help???
baby rashes
Seems to be what Jake has so nothing serious.

Nemo1977 · 25/01/2006 10:44

george thanks for the link I do think that is what hannah has got as it seems to have dried out and be going today.
Her cold is now turning into a cough but hopefully that means it is going so will see what she is like tommorow. she is still sleeping and eating so obviously isnt affecting her too much.

hope everyone else is ok

awayninahmanger · 25/01/2006 10:46

hiya just checking in quickly, life is busy ... you know ....!
George I am hardly drinking either! I am shocked at myself. Sh good to catch up - did I really read the g word? (GYM??!!) oh god I am lagging far behind in our Jan get fit campaign then. I did push the pushchair up a country lane but ds screamed all the way how cold it was. Hope to get swimming once baby has had injections. Have still not registered her name! in complete limbo here - just chewing the cud and lactating, really - happy days!
love to you all xxx

bonkerz · 25/01/2006 13:16

HI all, Just checking in too! Its all going quite well here for now! Have relaxed a bit more with Alex and she seems to be benefiting from that! For 2 nights in a row now she has fed at 9.30pm, 3am and 7 am which is wonderful so hoping she isnt just lulling me into a false sense of security and will keep it up!
SWEETHEART: i was your secret stork!!!! Who was mine???
HOpe all the babies who have been poorly are getting better and NEMO glad to hear Adam has grasped toilet training (hope i havent spoken too soon!!!)
Am getting my head sorted too with regards my mums death etc and counselling seems to be doing some good, have also had the courage to talk to family members about how i feel which is an improvement!!
Cannot believe that Alex is 6 weeks old on MOnday!! She is definately focusing more on people and even managed to hit a toy on her play mat the other day. She has started cooing lots too which is lovely and i think we are close to smiling! Well she definately looks more amused now a days anyway so hopefully we will get a huge grin soon! CANT WAIT!!
My MIL came over monday night and put Alex into a christening robe that is over 100 years old! It was hand made by my DHs Great grandmother and all the children in the family have been photographed in it so ofcourse Alex had to be done too!!! She did look adorable though but i was paranoid about her sicking on it cos she had just been fed!
Ok gotta dash cos Alex is now screaming for her feed!

Catch oyu all soon. Take care and hugs to all the babies!

scully · 25/01/2006 13:29

good to hear you're feeling good today Bonkerz
I had Madeleine weighed today, little guzzler is now 8lb 71/2oz so very happy that she is gaining weight nicely with just me b/f her. dd1 didn't manage to do this so this is a nice surprise. She did of course wee all over the change mat though, but at least it wasn't the scales as well
dd1 at nursery today so have a couple of hours peace, whilst dd2 is blissfully asleep in her basket.....

sweetheart · 25/01/2006 17:04

Bonkerz thank you for my ss prezzies they were all brilliant.

Scully - I was your ss.

Well, Lucas hasn't developed any more spots so I think it's safe to say he didn't catch chicken pox - thank goodness.

Feeling a bit sad today as I have put Lucas onto bottles. I am expressing my breast milk for him but feeding from me he was only snacking which meant he wanted to feed every hour or two. At least from the bottle he is taking 3/4 Oz so hopefully I will finally get some sleep. I will really miss feeding him myself though and I've been on a bit of a downer about it today.

Yes ninah I am back to the gym, it's a bit of an effort to get there but I really enjoy it once I make the effort and feel great afterwards.

flutterbee · 25/01/2006 20:01

I had George weighed today and he is now 11lb 14oz and the perfect weight for his age even though he was 5 and a half weeks early and he will be 11 weeks on Friday .... where does time go!!!!!

I'm so excited about my birthday I caught DH looking in Clintons the other day and he was looking at the cards for Mummy section how exciting my first one.

OK I'm off now with the little rat to watch what not to wear.

Take care all of you.

ebbie22 · 25/01/2006 21:30

No free time to write, but hope all is well at ur ends....Little man,not quite so little 10lbs 5 already, still fine at feeding though gaps are getting a little shorter....thought they should be longer by now...lol...
Havent got any more time left but love to all xxx

scully · 26/01/2006 12:24

Survived our first trip to sainsbury's today, with both dd's
dd1 behaved herself and dd2 slept through the whole thing, so we even managed a hot chocolate at Starbucks afterwards. I should probably be unpacking groceries now rather than be on here, but oh well
Thx sh, your gifts were lovely
Nemo, I was your ss

scully · 27/01/2006 10:27

Everyone must be sleep deprived or out and about at the moment
I'm having a day at home today, waiting for the plumber, but I don't actually mind, first day at home all week so nice to relax a bit and catch on things here.
Can't believe my small girl is 5wks on Sunday already, where's the time going.

georgeandwigglyjake · 27/01/2006 11:20

Time is flying by here too Scully. Jake is 4 weeks old today.

bonkerz · 28/01/2006 22:03

EI, Thank you again for the beautiful blanket. I use it as Alex-Leighs blanket in her buggy every day! A very thoughtful present!! Thank you again!

Nemo1977 · 29/01/2006 13:54

hello all
scully thanks for my SS I loved them especially my boasting book which is getting full up of pictures.

hope everyone is ok. Cant believe hannah is over 6 wks old now We had our first proper smile this morning rather than one followed by a burp. Am going to get her weighed again tommorow as she is now growing out of most of the newborn stuff so think she is around 10lbs. Everything is ok here, adam is fully toilet trained and has even had a dry nappy of a morning for ages now but am too chicken to take it off completely..lol.
take care all loves to babes and families xxxxxxxxxxxxx

dyzzidi · 29/01/2006 16:54

Hello All

I thought it was about time i joined you on this thread. My dd Brooke is nearly 6 weeks old and I am only just getting used to the fact she is actually here! I'm not feeding things too bad as she goes to bed about 9.30 and sleeps till about 6.00 so I do get a fair amount of sleep. Had a couple of scary moments with a violent sickness bug but now she just seems to be suffering with a dreaded cold.

I hope to chat to you all soon. I know some of you from other threads and hope to get to know the others soon.

expatinscotland · 29/01/2006 16:57

Roisin has her days and nights mixed up. Big time! She was up till 3.30 this morning. Then slept till 11AM. Now she's sleeping again.

It's a good thing babies are so cute or we'd eat them!

DD1 is the BEST big sister. She takes her role as protector quite seriously, and loves to cuddle and kiss her wee sister.

Although she did pluck her dummy out of her mouth the other day and proceded to put it in her own mouth!

georgeandwigglyjake · 29/01/2006 20:09

Hi Dyz, glad you have joined us. Hope Brooke gets better soon.

Right, I have a serious question......how do you get them to sleep so long???? Jake has managed about 4 hours in a row then needs a feed. Do you not change them or feed them in all that time?

I'm now following baby whisperers EASY routine which seems to be making life a bit easier but I don't know what time to put him to bed properly at 4½ weeks old. Any ideas?

bonkerz · 29/01/2006 20:28

hi all,

george, Alex can go for 6 hours BUT thats only in the last week. She will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. We find that we need to feed Alex 4oz at 4,7 and 9pm. She then gets swaddled and goes in her basket by 9.30-10 at latest. She generally then sleeps till 3am has 5oz and sleeps again till 6.30-7am. obviously this is easier because i am bottle feeding now. i think the trick is to fill them up. have you tried dream feeding?

georgeandwigglyjake · 29/01/2006 20:39

Hi Bonkerz, not tried dream feeding yet. Is that where you don't really wake them but just feed them whilst they are still dozy?
Might be worth a try tonight.

Will put him down after his 9.00pm feed and see how we go tonight. It's a bit of a result to get him to sleep 4 hours so maybe I'm just getting a bit ahead of myself.

bonkerz · 29/01/2006 21:41

I havent tried dream feeding either but gather its quite easy and just tops them up! Idea is you feed just before you are off to bed in a dark room and have no eye contact and keep them wrapped up so they are disturbed as little as possible!!
The best advice i was given when i was fretting (sp?)about Alex-Leighs night time habits was to relax about it. This has certainly been true for me and she has just found her own way really!!Is currently fast asleep in her basket in the nursery and fingers crossed will be that way till 2.30-3am! She has certainly been awake more than ever today!!

Nemo1977 · 29/01/2006 21:58

hi all
george sleeping just depends on what works for you. I dont have a bedtime for hannah mainly because if she starts crying she will wake adam up and dont fancy 2 grumpy tots. However she also tends to have her awake time from 7pm till 11pm ish. She then has a feed and sleeps 11.30pm till anywhere between 5 and 7am. This works for us, however I wont pretend that adam wasnt a notoriously bad sleeper [as you may remember from me being up at 5am in summer]. It is only in the past 6mths that he has started to sleep properly and only at 15mths that he slept through, not being bearer of bad news but just showing how different they can be with exactly the same routines!!
