OK this is it I have started the thread in the vain hope that someone on the December antenatal thread will pop and come and join me, I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now and to be honest with you I think your all being a little selfish making me wait around on my own .

Can't believe I am the one starting this thread I'm not due till 18/12/05 yet by then George will be nearly 6 weeks old, I tell you what though I feel really really sorry for the last person to give birth from December as they will be dying to get onto this thread by then.

As sad as this may seem over the next few days (or weeks if you lot don't get popping) I'm going to post on this thread little messages so that when people start crossing over they have something to read, well that is what I intend to do anyway but whether George lets me do that is a totally different thing.
I shall deffo post my birth story on here I have waited so long to do it so expect that to appear in the next day or so.

So come on over ladies the grass really is greener on the other side.

HERES WISHING YOU MANY HAPPY NAPPIES [GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN]

flutterbee · 10/02/2006 00:35

Hi everyone,

Well my meal on Sat night was fab really romantic and babyless just what I needed.

George is smiling all day everyday now and we have the most fantastic babbling conversations it really is great.

sh - how did the jabs go, when George had his first lot he was terrible the next day just wouldn't settle (I think I posted on here about it) but he had his second lot on Wednesday and has been no trouble at all today.

Can't believe I have to go back to work in April the enormity of it has just hit me this week and between crying about it I have started looking for childminders, it just makes me so so

DQ - I can't wait to have another and actually really miss being pg

scully · 10/02/2006 08:14

fb, for you about going back to work. it is hard, but when they are a bit older you see how much they enjoy nursery. just very difficult for you leaving them when they are still small. dd1 went to nursery 4 days a week from 8mths, and I found my first 3mths back at work very tough, but after that I guess I got used to it.
Very glad not to have to think about that this time at next year at the earliest & hopefully the next time I work will be in Australia, where part-time, job-share and flexi-time aren't unusual.
Anyone have anything nice planned for the weekend?
dq, we've found the transition from 1 to 2 ok so far, probably why we're thinking about no. 3 so soon dd1 has heard us talking about it and is now requesting another sibling - don't think she quite understands though!

sweetheart · 10/02/2006 09:30

Still no routine here - still lots of sleepless nights

Ei - Lucas had his jabs yesterday and has woken up with a cold this morning. He was up at 11.30pm, 2.30am, 4am and 6.30am and had a temperature when I put him to bed last night which we gave him some Calpol for.

He is sleeping at the moment so hopefully he won't be grumpy when he wakes up. After two very sleepless nights I'm not sure I'd cope very well with a grumpy child today.

We are off to pick up a caravan this afternoon - we thought we'd make the most of long weekends whilst I'm on maternity leave.

I'm due to go back in June and am already dreading it so I really sympathise Flutter. I've got to go in in April for a few days to help witht he end of tax year. I already know it's going to be hard to leave Lucas.

I cried nearly every day at work when I went back after having dd - it does get easier after a while though!

sweetheart · 10/02/2006 13:48

Has anyone tried their breast milk

Lucas has conjuctivitus (sp???) in his eyes again so I used some of my emb to clean his eyes with some cotton wool. I was curious so had a little sip - YUK!!!!! It's so sweet, it's disgusting!!!!!!! Nothing like real milk at all!!!!

Btw, please ignore this poast if I'm the only freak drinking her own breast milk!!!!

ei23 · 10/02/2006 15:26

Jaysfirst · 10/02/2006 16:58

hi, am still alive if anyone remembers me! Bad times at the mo with feeding and no sleep at all...shes a total snacker which leaves me tired at night and in the day when shes soooooo over tired, still shes a poppet at times too, shes has smiled and had a little giggle, and loves playing on the gym mat... hope everyone else is having fun and enjoying their bubbas hugs to one and all xxxxxxxxx

bonkerz · 10/02/2006 21:34

Hi all,

Jays, good to hear from you babe. Sorry to hear you having a hard time. Chin up and just keep looking at Harriettes little face! Its worth it in the end!
EI: I put vicks vapour rub on a bib or cloth inside Alex-Leighs cot at night (not too close but close enough to give her a wiff! IYKWIM) and also have a pillow under her mattress propping her up so she is on a slant (about45 degrees) this helps her nose drain.
SH: havent tried my own breastmilk but game on to you for having a go!!! Have been tempted but not brave enough! Am sure DH has had a taste tho but he would be too embarrassed to admit it! LOL
FLUTTER: know what you mean about going back to work. I start back on March 6th but im in the enviable position of being able to keep Alex-Leigh with me, still im upset i wont be able to have the one to one with her i have now as i will have 2 x 2 year olds vieing for my attention too!!
SCULLY: NUMBER 3 ALREADY!!!!! BRAVE OR MAD????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
EBBIE: glad the pump is coming in handy! Also glad to hear you and DH are gonna perservere. It is such a stressful time at the moment, hang in there babe.

NEMO: thanks for the dummies mate. Alex-Leigh manages to lose them and i can never be bothered to hunt the house so you dont know what they mean to me!!!! Im sure that when i finally get around to having a good spring clean that i will find a mountain of them but that wont be happening in the near future! LMAO

Well all is OK here. Alex-Leigh is , according to the health visitor, suffering from mild reflux which i why she is getting frequent bouts of colic and bringing up a proportion of her milk! Have to take her to GP on MOnday and see what can be given to help her. Apart from that she is a pure joy. She is definately recognising mummy and daddy now and has started to coo and giggle more and more! The bond is well and truly formed now and i cant understand why i found it so difficult, my precious little angel is my world now and i cant imagine life without her, even at 3am i cant bring myself to put her in her cot cos she wants to chat to me and smile!!!! All i can say is thank god for anti depressants because without them im not sure i would have reached this point!!!
Have just put her down in her cot so am off to have a bath and then to bed beofre her next feed ((please let it be 3am then 7.30am again like last night!!!)) ((am i asking too much!!))

Hope you are all well and HELLO to anyone i missed.

scully · 11/02/2006 10:22

yes bonkerz, think we must be mad. have a feeling dd2 is lulling us into a false sense of security and one day she is going to show us how can really misbehave
hang in there jay, it will get better, but the constant feeding and not sleeping well can definitely get you down after even short while.
had a good night last night, put her down just before 11pm, she woke up at 3am, back down just before 4am and awake again at 7.30am, and dd1 woke up at 8am, so I'm feeling fairly rested. dh has taken dd1 out to the shop for an hour so I actually have some time to myself. should probably get in the shower but time on here without anyone wanting to sit on my lap is such a luxury.....
hope you all have a nice weekend

ei23 · 11/02/2006 12:01

hi all!! hope evryopne is well!!
bonkerz, i had a look on the bounty website at the pic of alex-leigh and placed my vote- she is lovely aint she!!
anywho just thought id post a quick hello as sian is sleeping on dp at the mo!! she is such a good girl sometimes!!
hey jays!! sorry to hear you are havin a little bit of trouble. am sure it will get easier as she gets bigger! have you tried expressing to up your milk supply cos she might get a bigger feed and sleep for alittle longer to give you a bit of a break!i have expressed twice and my milk supply is well and truelly upped!! if not you could hand her over to your dh with a bottle of expressed milk so you can can have a rest!! worth a shot ireckon!! big hugs to you hun xx hope things get easier for you soon!!xx
hi to everyone else hope you are all well xx

ei23 · 11/02/2006 12:03

oh forgot to add... ill try the vicks thing bonkerz thanx for the advice as she really sounds like she is comin down with that bloody cold that has been goin round. anything to make her breathing a little easier would help!! thanx again xx

bonkerz · 12/02/2006 22:15

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

There that helped! Alex-Leigh has screamed from 6pm. She wont take any milk and keeps spitting gripe water out. I have cuddled her, put her over my lap, over my shoulder, given her a dummy, let her scream, massaged her tummy, changed her nappy, tried her with more milk, tried to give her warm water, given her infacol, am getting tired and annoyed now because i cant settle her and cant seem to help her. She is 8 weeks tomorrow!!!!

scully · 13/02/2006 08:27

oh dea bonkerz, what time did she settle?

starrynight · 13/02/2006 14:20

Hi there all

I know, I know it has been ages. Everything here is fine & my little boy was born on 18th Dec.

I just had a quick peek in and wanted to offer Bonkerz some advice/solace. My ds has had severe colic & crying for hours and hours every night. I am breastfeeding and have now cut out dairy from my diet and within 2 nights he was a changed boy! We have had no colic whatsoever for 2 weeks now - just peaceful evenings. He is also less fretful in the day. It definately is this because on one day I had muesli with half water/half milk and he cried for about 3 hrs that evening. Its tricky to completely cut out dairy but soooooooooooooooooooooo worth it. I hope you are breastfeeding & can cut it out!

However if you are bottlefeeding then I can only pass on my sympathies & advise to sleep a lot in the day!

angelbaby · 13/02/2006 14:39

Hi all.

I hope you don't mind me joining this thread??

I had DD2 on the 22nd Dec so she's now 7 weeks old. It's been quite a tough time before she was born due to heart complications on my part with my c-section ending in me having heart failure!!
Needless-to-say, I'm still here and very grateful for it
We're having some sleepless nights with a colicky baby too and am feeling quite low as I don't seem to be able to get routine's established. Everytime I think she's in some routine, she seems to change so I'm back to the drawing board.
Absolutely adore her but think I'm just exhausted, lonely and in need of some 'grown-up' conversation.

yellowbear · 13/02/2006 16:31

Hi everyone, hope you are all okay.

Hi Angel baby - my son was born on the 23rd so just 1 day younger.

Sorry to hear about the screaming Bonkerz and Angelbaby, I had this with DS2 and gripe water etc were not working and so I went to see a chiropractor with him. He is going a few times a week for manipulation (he explained how this is linked with digestion but it went over my head!) It has worked!! We still have the odd restless nights but no more screaming inconsolably and he can go anything from 4 to 10 hours at night, which is great as I am one person who really needs her sleep!

He is smiling and gurgling now and I am really starting to enjoy him more, when he smiles it makes me smile.. DS1 is always 'looking after' him too, talking and singing away to him, there has been no signs of jealousy yet........

Nemo1977 · 13/02/2006 16:38

hello all how are you diddling????

We are ok here just quick post as just picked adam up from his first session at playschool so keeping an eye on him as dont want him to fall asleep!!! Hannah had her injections this morning but so far seems ok. Also checked over by GP etc and has dry skin [which I had been trying to treat with e45] but apart from that she is perfect
Things with DH still fraught but wont bring that to the board!! Also having tough time with mental health proffesionals again another thing best discussed elsewhere.

sweetheart · 13/02/2006 17:54

Hi all,

Just got time for a quick message,

angelbaby - no routine here either and Lucas is nearly 10 weeks old. I'm resigning myself to the fact he'll be a year old before he goes through the night - at least that way anything better is a pleasent surprise!

We put Lucas in his own room this weekend, hopefully now he won't get disturbed by dh's really loud snoring!

It's half term in our household so nice not to have to get up and out the door by 8.30am. We have a fairly relaxed week planned, thank goodness.

Well, thats about all from me - hope everyone else is doing well.

DQ - would be loevly to hear how your getting on!

Jays - I had a really wierd dream about you the other night, I dreampt that I had to give birth to your little girl for you - don't ask me why!?!?!?!?! VERY strange!!!!!!!

ei23 · 13/02/2006 22:02

hi all!!
how is everyone??
bonkerz and angelbaby, sorry to hear about the screaming babies!! have you tried colief drops?? they are supposed to be marvelous for colicky babies you just put it into their milk before a feed and it helps them to digest the milk a bit easier! you are bottle feeding aint you bonkerz? as these drops are really designed for bottle feeding as it has to go into the milk itself! its worth a try i suppose!!- it is kinda expensive tho at £10 per bottle!! its worth it tho if it helps you get some peace from the screaming!!
anywho... how is everyone else??
dq, flutter, jays, ebbie, scully,... where are you ladies?? babies keeping you lot busy i suppose!! hope all is well!!
love and hugs to everyone!! xx

angelbaby · 13/02/2006 22:18

Hi again - am up for the dreamfeed!

Thank you all for the kind words of support and advise. I've got an appointment with a 'cranial osteopath' (not sure if they're the same as a chiropracter?) on Wednesday and am really hoping she may work magic on our colic! Am also trying colief drops so fingers crossed that they nay work as they take time to get into the system - used them with DD1 & they were great.
I think one of the hardest things for me though is that I got DD1 in a routine really quickly and she was sleeping through the night from 8 weeks so I've put this ridiculous expectation on myself to do it again with DD2. However the circumstances for this little one are different as due to my heart problems, the c-section had to be done when she was 34 weeks, whereas DD1 was 39+ weeks. Do you think I need to be adjusting her age as she's actually a prem?

scully · 13/02/2006 22:44

Don't be too hard on yourself angel, most babies aren't in a routine by 8wks, that was pretty good going for your first! dd2 is in a routine of sorts but it's her doing rather than ours and I'm certainly expecting things to change here and there in the first 6mths. Yours being prem as well could definitely make a difference, I would have thought. I've heard cranial osteopaths can make a difference so worth a try for sure.
Hi ei, nice to hear from you and you too sh
Went to an nct meet up today which was a lot of fun, loads of kids of different ages. dd1 had other girls her age to play with and dd2 was coo'd over by everyone as she was the youngest there (and very cute too!)
Have booked our first little holiday as a family of 4, we're off to visit friends in Italy at the end of March. I may regret this later , but I'm flying out with both dd's on my own, dh is joining us 2 days later, and we're all flying back together 4 days later. My friend out there doesn't work, and dd1 thinks the world of her, so it's the just the plane trip that might be tricky, once I get there it's like being with family. Really looking forward to it though, haven't been anywhere interesting in ages

bonkerz · 13/02/2006 23:04

Hi all, thanks for tips, Alex finally settled at midnight last night and slept quite well but think she was exhausted from screaming. Had a bit of nightmare though when i went to GP.......... As said before i spoke to health visitor last week and we had agreed that i had exhausted all self help formulas for alex and that the likely hood was she is suffering with severe colic OR reflux. Went to GP today (same one who refused home visit at 10 days old and then 6 hours later rushed her to A&E with bhronciolitis!!) who basically told me to give infacol, explained i had been giving her that for 5 weeks and tried grip water etc etc etc then told her that HV had said either gaviscon or colief drops. GP had never heard of colief drops and told me Alex too young for gaviscon!! I ended up in tears but she still said i needed to give infacol! I ended up walking out and ringing HV who was lovely and came out to visit me this afternoon. She bought with her Gaviscon and after checking Alex over said that she didnt expect gaviscon to work for long and has written in Alexs red book that she recommends her being put on a special formula called enfamil. I have to allow 3 days then go to GP again with the letter from HV requesting this milk! Hopefully that will work!!!
As it is Alex-Leigh has had 3 lots of gaviscon today and has gone down at 10pm fine!! fingers crossed for a peaceful night.

sweetheart · 14/02/2006 08:05

angelbaby - not sure the lack of routine is down to baby's age. My dd also alept through the week at 7/8 weeks but Lucas is now nerly 10 weeks and showing no signs of even settling into a routine let alone going through the night - he had me up about 6 times last night so today I am knackered!!!!!

Scully, it's lovely to have a break away to look forward to isn't it. We are off to the south of France in May although we are driving! Not sure which would be worse - flying or being in a car for about 8 hours with 2 small children!!!

Bonkerz - I would seriously write and complain about this GP. I would write to the goerning body for GP's and ensure a copy of the letter was sent to the surgery - perhaps you could get a note from your HV to back up your case.

Well, some good news from me - remember the exam I sat the morning I went into labour?!?!?!?!?!? Well, I got the results today and I PASSED !!!!

Happy Valentines day to you all xxx

yellowbear · 14/02/2006 08:34

Congratulations sweetheart, is that all the exams out of the way now? Is it Accountancy you are doing?

Bonkerz - that is unbelievable of the doctor, they sometimes just make you feel like you are being neurotic(?), at least you sound to have a very supportive HV. Hope the Gaviscon works.

Scully you are brave going on the plane by yourself, but I think I'd do the same for a few days away. How old is DD1.

Angelbaby, I think the Cranial Osteopath is basically the same, one deals with the skull and the other with the spine, let us know how you get on.

How did Adam like Playschool Nemo?

Hi to everyone else, speak soon......
