OK this is it I have started the thread in the vain hope that someone on the December antenatal thread will pop and come and join me, I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now and to be honest with you I think your all being a little selfish making me wait around on my own .

Can't believe I am the one starting this thread I'm not due till 18/12/05 yet by then George will be nearly 6 weeks old, I tell you what though I feel really really sorry for the last person to give birth from December as they will be dying to get onto this thread by then.

As sad as this may seem over the next few days (or weeks if you lot don't get popping) I'm going to post on this thread little messages so that when people start crossing over they have something to read, well that is what I intend to do anyway but whether George lets me do that is a totally different thing.
I shall deffo post my birth story on here I have waited so long to do it so expect that to appear in the next day or so.

So come on over ladies the grass really is greener on the other side.

HERES WISHING YOU MANY HAPPY NAPPIES [GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN]

Hi again. Thank you all for your input - wish I'd joined this thread earlier as it would have saved on a lot of tears

We had a better night last night with her going from 10pm - 2am and then 2am - 8am! It did however take an hour to settle her after the 2am feed but at least she didn't scream! I think that's the bit that gets to me the most. She was just a little whingy.

Her little face has also broken out in an angry blotchy rash like look which my health visitor tells me is baby acne. I'm not so sure though as it's looking really scaley today. We don't have allergies or excema in the family so am not sure if it's that.

I'll let you know how the CO goes.

dramaqueen72 · 15/02/2006 01:39

oh hey ladies. nice to see some 'chat' on here
sweetheart, so many congrats on passing your exam. youre sucha star!!!
I'm doing well here, things are alright, lifes quite nice and steady -instead of crisis peeks and lows you know?. dh and I getting along okay, siblings all getting along with each other too.
daisy is just gorgeous, shes a total ray of sunshine. shes great at sleeping, well compared to how dd2 was at this age! unfortunately its ME who cant sleep -how mad is that?!! daisy has been referred as she has something wrong with her breathing/windpipe. fingers crossed its 'nothing', as my gp said it was most likey to be. aside from that shes just delightful. smiling and 'talking' to me alot, eating huge amounts of 'mumma milk' and stacking on the weight.
nice to read and catch up on how some of you are. nemo - sorry to hear something in life arent great right now, hope they improve for you hun. glad the jabs went okay tho, am dreading daisys, hate the way they upset them so much.
and angel, I know its easier said than done but try not to worry. hard as it may be now with your little one, its not going to be like that forever. its easy to feel like after one bad night -for example- its always going to be so bad. it wont be and promise they all grow out of colic/reflux/digestive problems in the end. I dont believe in colic as such - controversal of me to say so! but dr harvey karp(he writes baby books) puts it much better, if anyone wants a different/better explanation and help with 'colic-y' babies. worked for my little one anyhow. prob shouldnt of said all that......
ah well after four children you get alittle opinionated........

scully you must be mad to do that flight! LOL, I refused to set foot on a plane this april with a 2yr old and a baby. nearly threw myself outa the plane with just a 2 yr old last year......god that was stressful. so lots of luck to you!
ei -its truly delightful to read your happy posts, I'm so glad motherhood agrees with you so much! do email me a pic of your little one soon
george, ninah, hope youre out there and just reading. thinking of you

ebbie22 · 15/02/2006 16:28

Happy belated valentimes guys, hope you all had a gd one....Am up in norwich with the kids for the wk,dh will be meeting me on sunday for nieces birthday.....
Got my friend to do the house up,and she did the opposite to how my dh had left it for work...ie,he chucked cats out when he went to work, she let them in,he opened curtains, she closed them and turned the lights on.....i gave her post it notes to dart round the house, and she put the light on in bedroom for me,put a card and a single rose on bedside table.....

Surprised to say the least,..though its nice to be away i wish i could of seen his face, although we arnt having the best times of our life,i miss him so much....
But nows not the time to spill all to u guys.....

How is evryone else doing, thankfully Jack doesnt keep me up all night since that bad wk of periods of crying, god knows what is was but glad to see the bk of it.......

DD still loves her brother and insists we have lots more...and so do i,but how when i dont know how this marriage is going to go??

I hate the thought of my children suffering.....

SWEETHEART... Well done hun,u go girl...

Love to everyone else xxxxx

angelbaby · 15/02/2006 16:47

hello everyone. Just thought I'd update you on the CO. Am really quite sceptical about it as as everyone has already said, it looked as though she wasn't doing anything other than holding my little DD's head. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt though and see how the next few days go. Saying that, we had a really good night last night with DD having a 9pm feed, going down at 9:45pm, having a dreamfeed at 1am and then sleeping through until 7am !!! I don't know if it's sheer fluke but will wait and see.
Dramaqueen I think you're right about colic - I went and bought Dr Karp's book today so have had a brief flick through and think he does have a point.
I just think that when you're in the throws of crying baby's, exhaustion and recovery from pregnancy and birth, it's always easier to label something.
Hope everyone had a great valentines!

flutterbee · 15/02/2006 23:36

Hi one and all, its been nearly 2 weeks since I posted, can;t believe where time has gone, well OK I know where its gone and its called George

Thank God other people on here have had this screaming windy problem. George for the last few weeks hsa been driving me mad, he is on 7oz at the moment and will happily guzzle it doen but he keeps having these episodes where he drinks about 3-4oz stops to be winded and then when I try to feed the rest he screams and screams and screams, he throws his body about so much I sometimes think I going to drop him and he passes wind into his nappy loads. We have gone down the route of gripe water (snap Bonkerz he just spits his out too) and infacol but it makes no difference and I know thatbhis wind is clear as he gets hicups. So after reading this and Jays other thread I think I will try some Gaviscon and see if it helps.

DQ you sound just like my Mum she has had 7 and doesn't belive in "Colic" etc and I have to say that whatever my Mum says goes as far as I am concerned she has more experience than any hv or Dr I know.

Sh Congratulations on passing, is that it for you now or are there anymore to sit.

I know this is a long post but I have got yo let you know that DH and I are buying a new property, I'm so excited since moving from Nottingham in October we have been staying at my brothers, the property is huge and beautiful and he is never here but it's not ours, we have been looking all this week and put an offer in on one today, now because we are in East Sussex our £ don't go very far but hopefully this 2 bed garden flat will be ours soon (it really is very nice). Fingers crossed for me all of you.

Anyway all of this excitment has made me forget allllllll about having to go back to work so I have stopped looking for childcare and I'm taking a much more relaxed aproach to it, I will no doubt in the next week or so start job hunting and then it will hit home again.

Oh oh oh and also I had forgot how soon our holiday was and worked it out tonight that as of Monday it is 3 weeks exactly till we go away

Sorry for the length, hope you are all really well, "HI" to everyone I missed. May the fairy of peacefull sleep sprinkle your pillow tonight so you wake as fresh as a daisy.

scully · 16/02/2006 08:35

Hope all your windy babies sort themselves out soon..... Madeleine has no problem with that dept currently, she farts constantly and isn't bad with burping either
dq you may be right about me being mad with my flight next month, I will let you know! Caitlin is an experienced traveller, having been to Australia, NZ, South Africa, Malaysia and various places in Europe, so a 2hr flight never seems daunting anymore when you've flown to Australia . I'm more not looking forward to the trek from Surrey to Stansed, getting them both from the car to the terminal, and entertaining dd1 especially for the 2-3hrs before the flight.....
Managed to write some thank you cards yesterday and fill in some more of her baby book, where do the days go

sweetheart · 16/02/2006 09:44

flutter - 7Oz's

i can't get Lucas to take more than about 3 at one feed - probably why he's up so much at night.

Had a bad couple of days, I have come down with a cold and after 2 nights of no sleep and 2 kids at home all day I was exhausted and fed up. Dh did the night feeds last night to give me a break. I really can't see an end to these long sleepless nights and it's making me really down.

It's my b'day in a few weeks and we were hoping to go out for dinner with friends but no one wants to babysit for us so I'm feeling a bit glum about that too!

I can't even get Lucas into a routine during the day - I'm getting fairly desperate!!!!

dramaqueen72 · 16/02/2006 11:26

s/h happy birthday in advance
dont feel down, its all going to be fine, promise. if you let lucas 'lead' during the day can you see a pattern of his sleeping v more wakeful hours? i can with daisy; its not clockwork, and i dont get surprise if one day its not the same, but theres a pattern certainly. he'll find his, he'll find it alot quicker -IMO- if you let him rather than force him, iyswim. take naps when you can to stay sane and keep telling yourself this phase will pass. hang in there!!
cant you take the children out with you on your birthday? i know your dd is old enough to behave and lucas will either sleep thro it or get cooed over by the waiters
angel, harvey karp is soooooooooooo talented. not preachy just informative. and thanks for the compliment flutter. tell your mum shes v wise
george where are yooooooooooooooou:0
and ninah, and .well loads of you MIA. do come back.
scully, after a terrible flights both ways to portugal with a 2yr old i'm not getting on a plane again with children under four!!!LOL i'm such a wuss compared to you.....its just three children and one dh who flys but hates it was a bloody nightmare, i cant even think of adding a baby and all the stuff she needs into the mix. i think devon sounds good this year!! i bet you'll be fine tho.

sweetheart · 16/02/2006 12:41

great to hear from you DQ! I have heard from ninah - she is having the worst time at home atm - her P is the biggest pig alive!

I have decided to demand feed Lucas for a few days rather than try and starve him out for 3 hourly feeds. I have noticed he tends to have a couple of ounces every 2 hours and rather than having 2 long daytime naps he will sleep for 1/2 hour every couple of hours. I think this is part of the problem as to why he's not good at night - he prefers short sleeps and small feeds to getting a big feed and having a big sleep.

My only hope is that he will feed so much during the day he'll be full at night!

Does your Harvey Karp do sleeping help DQ???? If so I think I might have to go and buy the book.

Glad to hear your doing well though - your such a pro!!!!

dramaqueen72 · 16/02/2006 17:22

oh ha! me a pro! nope! just alittle (and it is alittle) more chilled out about the phases babies go thro this time round.
if lucas is snacking hes growing, try feeding him as often as he wants bet after abit its not as often as you think it will be.
yes havey karp has sleep advice. but its not a 'do and this will happen' kinda book, more advice, common sense and a five point plan of sleep techniques. hes into swaddling babies, and also doesnt dismiss dummies either. his books are usually on ebay. if even one thing worked and lucas was still awake but totally content it would be worth it huh?(gosh i'm starting to sound like i should be on the harvey karp payroll!)
i'm so sorry to hear its not great for ninah. must email her.
can you all belive how fast our babies are growing? scary! daisys so not a newborn anymore.

flutterbee · 16/02/2006 21:57

DQ talk about growing George is just over 3 months now and he is well into the 3-6 months clothes and he weighs 13lb 4oz little fatty.

Sh - dq is totally right I have been really relaxed around George, sometimes (as my posts on here before will prove) he has driven me mad with screaming, really bad winding etc but I think just letting him do what he wants has made all the difference.

georgeandwigglyjake · 17/02/2006 09:36

Hi all, where does the time go to? One day turns into a week so quickly!
DQ, know what you mean about them growing, Jakey isn't newborn either now. Have just sorted out and removed all the teeny clothes from his nursery . Not sure how long he will fit in his moses basket either, certainly not going to make it to 6 months!

SH, sorry you are having such a tough time. Things sorted out for Jake with the baby whisperer. Am still trying to remember to buy DQs recommendation too. Jake takes 5oz at 11.00pm which knocks him out big style!

I'm sorry Ninah is having such a bad time with her P. Hope she manages to get things sorted and have a happier time soon.

Scully, your not alone in having a farting baby
Hi to everyone else, am at home most of next week so will hopefully have a bit more time to catch up again......

bonkerz · 18/02/2006 15:00
