OK this is it I have started the thread in the vain hope that someone on the December antenatal thread will pop and come and join me, I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now and to be honest with you I think your all being a little selfish making me wait around on my own .

Can't believe I am the one starting this thread I'm not due till 18/12/05 yet by then George will be nearly 6 weeks old, I tell you what though I feel really really sorry for the last person to give birth from December as they will be dying to get onto this thread by then.

As sad as this may seem over the next few days (or weeks if you lot don't get popping) I'm going to post on this thread little messages so that when people start crossing over they have something to read, well that is what I intend to do anyway but whether George lets me do that is a totally different thing.
I shall deffo post my birth story on here I have waited so long to do it so expect that to appear in the next day or so.

So come on over ladies the grass really is greener on the other side.

HERES WISHING YOU MANY HAPPY NAPPIES [GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN]

meant to add I do my nightime feed as dreamfeed, I dont turn on lights and start to feed hannah as soon as she starts to stir so she doesnt wake up completely. I also dont change her nappy through the night unless she stinks so I still use disposables over night.

expatinscotland · 29/01/2006 22:35

I tried dreamfeeding Roisin and it doesn't work on her. She doesn't suck at all.

sweetheart · 30/01/2006 09:27

george - I would think at 4 weeks old that 4 hours is fairly good. Lucas is now 7.5 weeks old and he usually sleeps in less than 4 hour blocks. He was waking for a feed every 2 hours but he goes a bit longer now I am bottle feeding him.

Some people have months of sleepless nights and I think you have to be quite lucky to get a baby who is good at night. Dd was going through the night by 8 weeks and I sort of expected (well more hoped really) that Lucas would be the same. I can see now that he's not going to be and we have a little terror on our hands this time.

Last night he woke at 11pm, then again at 2.30am (when he stayed awake for over 2 hours!!!!!)then was up at 7.

On the nights he sleeps after his 2.30 feed he wakes at 5.30 for another one and then he normally won't sleep after that.

I have tried everything to get him to sleep longer and have decided now to just relax and go with the flow. Hopefully one day soon he'll decide to let his mummy get some more sleep!!!!

dyzzidi · 30/01/2006 13:46

brooke takes about 5oz and i find that if i wait until she is waking for a feed about 8.30 then bath her before putting her to bedshe sleeps for lots longer than without a bath.

I have also put her in her own room as she grunts all night long and i was not getting any sleep. i have baby moniters so can hear her but i feel that since she has been in her own room we have both been sleeping a lot better.

but i do believe all babies are different and i seem to havew been lucky so far.

sweetheart · 30/01/2006 15:32

dyz,

We have been thinking about putting Lucas in his own room but I'm still a bit reluctant as I can't be bothered to get up and down at night, although - dd was in her own room at 6/7 weeks and she slept through about a week afterwards.

Do you worry about cot death?

georgeandwigglyjake · 30/01/2006 16:43

Sounds like I might be expecting too much then SH.
Thinking about it, we are so much further forward than a couple of weeks ago. It's amazing how quickly things change when you stop and think about it properly.

Dyz, am going to take your advice & change bath time to night time and start using the sleepy baby bath milk DQ sent me in my secret stork parcel.

How is everyone else getting along?

bonkerz · 30/01/2006 19:11

6 weeks today and cant quite believe it!
Alex-Leigh also just done her first FULL PROPER smile, her whole face lit up and she did it 3 times (im sure it was just to make sure we knew it was a real smile!!) Cried my eyes out and it was lovely because both DH and I were there when it happened! Am on cloud 9 now!!
Am really annoyed with my doctors surgery! Asked on Friday about having mirena coil fitted and was told no probs, because im on my period at moment was given it and told to make an appointment with a particular doctor to get it fitted! GREAT i thought....... Waited all day for particular doctor to ring me and she waited till 6pm to ring! Then proceeded to tell me i had to go in for swabs next week, then wait another possible 2 months for an available slot to get it fitted!!! Apparently there are only 2 doctors at the practise that have been trained to fit it and both of them are fully booked for months!!! Have decided apprehensively to go in tomorrow to have depo jab, which is something i didnt want to have again BUT feel i have no real choice available for quick contarception. The pill makes me bloat up and condoms are just too expensive (not that i intend to use lots or anything )
OK MOAN OVER!!!!!!

ebbie22 · 30/01/2006 23:06

Where do u guys find the time to write?
Jack is a bonny thing, and sleaps well at night, but wakes no more than 4 hours for a feed, but goes straight back to sleap.yet in the day he would happyly stay asleap all day...Why is that?
Havent tried dream feed, and he is still in my room, where he will stay til he gos on bottles[if he does]...Sh i worry bout cot death too,and cant be bothered to walk to his room....Good thing is,by the time i get to bed i fall asleap straight away, and after i have fedd him as soon as head hits the pillow....Not too tired in day which is a gd thing i guess...Love to u all xxxwould love to meet u guys xxx

Hi everyone! finally time to join you again! Safi is now 5 weeks and 4 days old and really is a little darling. Labour was trauma though, 6 days labour pain and then cesaerean cause she flexed her head and it didn´t fit through my (really) wide pelvis. Ah well. Felt a bit weird during the first weeks; was waiting for this huge feeling of love, confidence and fulfillment but then read somewhere that it was quite normal to feel a bit funny. And no one told me that having a nice new pram feels like having a new car!! Anyway Safi is asleep now, but won`t be very long till she wants the milkbar. Will try dream feeding too. Chat to you later the next time she´ll let me.

ei23 · 31/01/2006 12:28

hi everyone!!
how is everyone doin?? we are fine sian is a little angel and tends to sleep for 4 hour periods wit no bother!! she is not a big fan of fallin asleep on her own yet tho so i seem to spend alot of time sitting wit her on my chest while she falls asleep!! im not too sure how to tackle that either- any suggestions?
other than that tho things are pretty sweet here! i cant believe my little girl is nearly 4 weeks old!! time flys eh!!

Nemo1977 · 31/01/2006 12:33

morning all

george little jake has come on in his sleep so you should be proud especially for a bf baby as they tend to need to feed more often.

bonkerz grr at gps what about going to a family planning centre as my mw recommended that due to them being the experts at fitting them.

SH I put adam in his own room at 8wks. think hannah will be in with us a little longer but only because if she cries she could wake adam.Although she is a pretty good sleeper last night she fed at 9pm then we all went to bed at 10pm and she woke at 4 for a feed.then asleep again until adam comes in at 7ish. She would prob sleep later if it wasnt for adam!!

hope everyone else is ok. Got a quick question is anyone else still having postbirth bleeding???? With adam it stopped at 3wks but hannah is 6 1/2wks and its still going on and off!!! Took hannah to baby massage this morning and she loved it. I took adam from 6wks-1yr so think will probably end up doing the same with hannah. She is now wiped out on the couch. Maybe I should have done adam while i was there as he is in a foul mood today and is currently in time out!!

hope everyone else is ok.

sweetheart · 31/01/2006 13:02

ei, you could try laying sian down with a dummy. It works with Lucas at least and he will now drift off to sleep on his own.

Nemo - with my dd I only had about a week or two of bleeding and this time I had about 5/6 weeks.

scully · 31/01/2006 15:37

Yep, 2nd the dummy idea for getting them to drift off themselves, if you aren't completely opposed to them. I've tested Madeleine a few times with this and the little bugger will just play around with feeding, when I know she is full already, and as soon as I swaddle her and put a dummy in and put her in her basket, she is asleep within 10min. I'm not a big fan of them, but some babies need to suck more than others and I've never liked the idea of feeding a baby to sleep each time - they get used to the idea and you can still be doing it at age 2, like a friend of mine
dd2 is also still feeding every 3 or so hours, sometimes it stretches to 4hrs now but we have a routine of sorts now and she is sticking to more or less the same times now for bed and waking through the night so that has made things easier. I bath or top/tail at night, we all go to bed at around 10pm, she has a last feed in bed with me and then goes into her basket, which is right next to our bed. She then wakes up at around 2 or 3am and is back asleep within an hour (usually needs a change then as she poos a lot!) & is then awake again sometime between 6-8am. Her morning routine isn't always the same though as she gets disturbed when I drop dh off at the station at 6.50am each morning. She's a very relaxed young lady though, copes quite well with getting in and out of the car and having her big sister being rather loud around her
Hope you're all having a good day

Jaysfirst · 31/01/2006 19:13

Wow you all seem to be so organised with your routines and feeding times, i on the other hand am still all over the place with times and bedtimes and up times.....Am still BF on demand exclusively and Harriette last Thursday at her firt baby clinic was weighinh a hefty 11lbs 3 ozs...( she just turned four weeks ) i guess i must be doing something right. Last night was a nightmare, the worst one yet. I tried the dream feeding which extended her sleep for a further two hrs till 1 20, however from that time till 12 30 this lunch time she was awake....screaming....sleeping for about 10-20 mins then screaming again, it was awful, no idea why, the only thing i had done different was the dream feed...could this have upset her ? have to say though, due to lack of sleep last night/this morning, all she has done this afternoon and till now, is sleep, looks like i will have another topsy turvy night!

Re bleeding, i have nothing to compare it to, but i am still bleeding a little bit. Some days its nothing, some its like a period. I am hoping and suspecting that by my 6 wk check it should have cleared up???

God where does the time go , i cant believe its been four weeks since Harris birth, i dont seem to be having any more teary days, i think my baby blues have past, well most of the time, some times i feel like its all a bit overwhelming but then i look at her and i am overwhelmed by my love for her. Time is so precious i am trying to make the most of these early days and not wish them away, so if i have a few months worth of sleepless nights, its all worth it in the end!

Love hugs and nuzzly babies to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

scully · 01/02/2006 11:15

Wow Jay that's a great weight - I had Madeleine weighed last Wed when she was 4.5wks and she was 8lb 7.5oz. But comparing her to her sister, she is better at gaining weight at this age, so we're happy! They are all so different, even at this young age
Some babies take a while longer to sort out a routine that works for them, and just when you feel like you have a handle on things, they will change it anyway!
Does she have trouble bringing up wind that she was awake for so long? Or maybe she just doesn't like sleeping

expatinscotland · 01/02/2006 11:23

bonkerz
im in same boat re: the coil. only my wait is THREE months. won't have the injection, tho, b/c the dr. said it was out for me given my depression. wasn't planning on using it, anyway, b/c i have a lot of metal in one of my knee joints and weight gain is AWFUL for it.

so we're using condoms and praying for a cancellation.

i don't know when my period will be b/c it hasn't returned yet, but i think i'm ovulating.

i told the dr. and she said they can still fit the Mirena anytime. at my family planning clinic, two docs are fitting them every tues. and thurs. and there's STILL a three month wait!

flutterbee · 02/02/2006 21:30

Hi everyone

ITS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY 28 YEARS YOUNG

I have had the most lovely day, DH got up early and went and bought me a huge bunch of my fave lillies then cooked brekkie and got George ready before he left for work, I met my Mum in town for lunch and when George needed feeding she took him from me and told me to go off with my sister shopping and she would catch up with us when she was done. She turned up half an hour later and I had already managed to blow just under £100 we then continued shopping and then finished with a hot chocolate before jumping on the train home.

All in all I spent about £130 and got some gorgeous items including a beautifull pair of light brown leather knee high boots reduced from £85 to £15 what a bargain!!!!!!!!!!!

Its ages since I treated myself like that and I tell you what girlies I would reccomend it to you all.

George has his second lot of jabs on Wednesday and then we are off to the hospital on the 20th to check to see if his heart murmour is still there, fingers crossed it just appeared to be one due to his illness over Xmas.

He has slept through the night twice this week so I'm hoping it won't be long before he does it all the time, I expect now I have tempted fate he will go back to waking all the time
He smiles all the time now and is babbling along in conversation with me and I don't think it will be long before he rolls over.

On the down side I am probably going to have to go back to work in April and it makes me really sad everytime I think about leaving him.

Hope you are all doing well and loving every second with your little bundles (or not so little anymore). Catch up with you all soon. xxx

KayVeeKayBee · 02/02/2006 23:18

Hello everyone.
I've just found out about Mumsnet and it seems there is a lot I need to catch up on. I've been reading through, seeing all the things some of you have gone through over the past couple of months... wow.
My ds, Lucas, was born on December 12. He's been very good. He gets quite playful at 3am but how can I complain about that? One smile and my heart melt.

flutterbee · 03/02/2006 10:03

Hi Kay and welcome, you have the second baby Lucas on the December thread as Sweetheart's little one is also Lucas.

Things are still a bit slow on this thread at the moment because everyone is still finding their feet but I'm sure it will pick up soon and it will be moving quicker than you can keep up.

scully · 03/02/2006 10:05

Welcome Kay good date too, my dh's b'day! Happy b'day fb, sounds like you had a lovely day and was very spoilt. I woke up this morning with both girls in our bed, was quite lovely actually, especially as they were both fast asleep By the end of the week that's my favourite way for them both to be.
dq, where are you?? How's the other Xmas day arrival doing??
