OK this is it I have started the thread in the vain hope that someone on the December antenatal thread will pop and come and join me, I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now and to be honest with you I think your all being a little selfish making me wait around on my own .

Can't believe I am the one starting this thread I'm not due till 18/12/05 yet by then George will be nearly 6 weeks old, I tell you what though I feel really really sorry for the last person to give birth from December as they will be dying to get onto this thread by then.

As sad as this may seem over the next few days (or weeks if you lot don't get popping) I'm going to post on this thread little messages so that when people start crossing over they have something to read, well that is what I intend to do anyway but whether George lets me do that is a totally different thing.
I shall deffo post my birth story on here I have waited so long to do it so expect that to appear in the next day or so.

So come on over ladies the grass really is greener on the other side.

HERES WISHING YOU MANY HAPPY NAPPIES [GRIN] [GRIN] [GRIN]

scully · 18/01/2006 14:02

sex, minnie, what's that?
went to a bumps and babes meet up this morning, really glad I made the effort as I really enjoyed it, so nice to sit and have a chat and a cup of tea. found out about a massage class I can do with dd2 when dd1 is at nursery, and a music class I can do with dd1, and bring dd2 along, so slowly starting to feel a bit organised. I find if I don't have a few things planned for week then the days disappear & tend to all blend into one.....
had another 3.5hr stretch last night, seems she is managing to do this a couple of times a week, little tease

sweetheart · 18/01/2006 14:47

Ji all - just wanted to pop in and say hi.

I had my 6 week check today and Lucas has his on Friday. He is sicking up alot of his feeds so the Dr has suggested putting him on infant gaviscon, hopefully the less he sicks up the fuller he will be and the longer he will sleep - wishful thinking I hear you all yelling!!!

He's still waking up usually 3 times a night but he normally goes straight back down after a feed so it's not too bad. There have been a few nights where he's been wide awake for 2-3 hours but I just let him stay awake with his dummy now whilst I snooze.

Bad news - my sil's baby has come down with chicken pox. we had a visit from them before the spots came out so I'm waiting to see if Lucas comes out - should be around next Tuesday. I'm hoping he hasn't caught it as we are going away for the weekend next Friday.

How is everyone else doing then????
DQ, ninah, george - how are your bundles?
Ninah - sorry about the lack of e-mail, you know what it's like. Promise to try and drop you a line soon.

sweetheart · 18/01/2006 14:48

oh, also meant to add - dh and I were thinking about sex last night but we didn't have any contraception in the house. I got the mini pill at my 6 week check today so in 7 days I'll be set to go.

I know bf'ing is sort of a contraception but I'm not taking ANY chances!!! Hee hee

bonkerz · 18/01/2006 16:44

Hi All,

Hope everyone and their bundles are ok, have been reading everyday but avoided posting, mainly because dont want to drag everyone down with me BUT also because it takes for ever to post with just one hand doing the typing!
As we speak Alex is lazing on my bed! My anti Ds seem to have taken effect which was quicker than i expected and im finally starting to see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel! I have started driving again and also am getting out to groups and things! Alex has had a few good nights but last night was a pain! Her colic is still causing problems and she was awake for 2 hours last night wriggling in pain! Ended up bringing her into bed with me just so i could get some sleep! She has been sick after her feeds too so was shocked when HV weighed her today and she had gone from 7lb 11oz to 8lb 13 oz in 8 days! Im sure its more her length than fat because she can no longer stretch out her legs in her newborn babygrows!
Did the secret storks get announced? have i missed it?
Have counselling on Friday and will be there, TBH the pills have made me feel calmer and feel i am finally ready to face my grief alot better.
OK, enough for now!

Nemo1977 · 18/01/2006 18:28

hello all
had to re sex as this time DH and I were back to normal after a week...lol obviously alone in that but then i didnt have stitches or grazing etc.
bonkerz glad you are feeling better hun will catch up on msn later.
SH hope the gaviscon works for lucas soon.

how is everyone else doing?
WE are all ok here apart from all being full of cold including poor hannah. Saline drops seem to be helping her a bit though so not too horrendous. Adam is now on 4th day of no accidents so think we are finished potty training as we have even had trips out of the house and he has been fine.so a proud mummy here.
Depression still getting me down but less said about that the better.
take care all

flutterbee · 18/01/2006 20:58

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is well, glad to hear most of you are ontop of things again.

George is getting sooooooooo big now, at the weekend we are going to have o buy him some more baby gros on the up side he is very nearly fitting into a beautiful Monsoon top he got for Xmas

We are off to hospital next week as he has to have his BCG because DH comes from Ghana and then we will be back to the hospital again to have his heart checked.

MINNIE!!!!!!!!! SO GOOD TO HERE FROM YOU

On the sex front DH nad I were back at it after 2-3 weeks.

Jaysfirst · 18/01/2006 23:02

well seems like we are all really in the same boat! i just dont seem to find the time to come her anymore, is maddening!
Anyway, Jarriette is now 10lbs and 3 ozs!!!!! and only 15 days old...shes a real guzzler with he food, shes good also with sleep, tending to sleep from 8 -11 then 12 30 ish - 3 then 4 ish till 7/8 ish.... well most of the time anyway...i do have times in the day though when she crys and crys...not getting any quality sleep at all!
Am still BF only, but want to try and get her onto one bottle so that DH can help, how long can it take b4 they get used to the bottle, and whats the best way to start her off on it?? TIPS welcome!
Hope eeryone is ok, will have to read more thread and respond to people direct a bit more, promise i will do !!!! Hugs xxxxxxxxxxx

flutterbee · 18/01/2006 23:37

Hi Jay,

I had to put George onto the bottle after a week and a half of bf because he was loosing so much weight. He took to the bottles straight away and has never looked back. I used the Tommee Tippee bottles with Nuby teats (only because I used to work for them and had £100's worth of goodies free from them) and the have been fine.

All children are different and may hate the bottle that every other kid loves, sometimes it's just a case of trial and error but I'm sure you will be fine. Let us know how you get on.

sweetheart · 19/01/2006 16:15

Jays, we bottle fed Lucas for a couple of weeks whilst waiting for his tounge op. He went onto bottle no problems - we used the Avent bottles and newborn teats. Now he will happily switch between the two - dh normally does Lucas' bedtime feed so I can have a rest and he has bottles when I leave him with my mum to go to the gym.

If you introduce it now you'll probably find shes so young you can give her a bottle quite easily. In my experience the probelms come with older children who are used to being 100% breastfed. Ie - My nephew (he had to be weaned using a beaker)

bonkerz · 20/01/2006 20:53

Evening all,
Hope you are all well.
Alex is definately more settled at night now and is doind 11pm,3am and 7am feeds or there abouts. Best bit is she feeds and settles back down within 30 minutes so im getting nice blocks of sleep.
Had first session of grief counselling today. Had to explain about past 2 miscarriages and about my mum dying and stuff. Am absoulutely drained tonight, feel emotionally exhausted. Thought id feel a bit better but if anything its opened up a whole can of worms and i just want to crawl in to bed and stay there. Have been booked in for 5 more sessions, one a week, so hopefully i can get myself under control and start making sense of all these feelings and thoughts!
On a positive note!!.....My feelings regarding Alex-Leigh are definately growing, It hit me today when i looked into her big blue eyes how much i need her and couldnt be without her, this is something i havent been able to feel up to now so maybe the pills ARE working!
ANYHOW, im off now, gonna go have a bath then an early night cos DH is home for the weekend and hes doing noght feeds tonight.
Take care all.

Jaysfirst · 20/01/2006 21:35

hiya peeps.

Bonkerz, glad you went through your grief counselling, it must be tough, but you will get there hun! hugs to you and Alex

Re the bottle feeding, She did a full 4 ozs today from it, screwed up her face to start with, but i have been tryig her since Tuesday, just for a few minutes each day, and then tody she just took to it! ed her a little from the breast afterwards to remind her where the 'real' thing is, so i am feling chuffed with myself, it mans i can go out tomorrow night ( ALBEIT FOR JUST A CPL OF HOURS ) safe in the knowledge that my mum can give her some milk if need be. Is anyone else using a hand pump to express milk? DH said he would get me an electric one, is it really a lot better?
I am noticing a little routine starting, mainl around her going to sleep around 9-12 pm then feed, then sleep till about 3-4 then feed then sleep till about 8ish. Its very skechy and a bit hit and miss but something is def forming. Have been out with Harri a bit now, she loves it in her pram and in the car, falling asleep really quickly in both!!

Hope everyone is ok, we seem a bit thin on the ground nowadays, its hard trying to post, if you all can get on , just check in with the words ' all is fine' at least we will know your still with us!!

Hugs and baby sick to al!! xxxxx

georgeandwigglyjake · 21/01/2006 15:32

Still here - all is fine

Just a bit tired and busy during the day at the moment as Jake still isn't that keen on sleeping at night. Gone a bit do-lally singing him nursery rhymes for the last hour in an attempt to keep him awake for a bit.

LOL at the idea of a routine

Hopefully will be back to post properly at some point in the not too distant future.

Love to everyone and all the gorgeous Dec babies (& Jan ones!)

xx

sweetheart · 21/01/2006 18:08

Just popped in to say Hi - missing all the regular posters from the anti-natal thread.

DQ, Ninah, Scully - how are you all doing?

Had a bit of a bad day. It's one year ago today I gave birth to our son Taylor who we lost due to a heart problem. We went to the crematorium and laid some flowers for him. My mum had the kids so we could go alone. I don't feel as sad as i had imagined but it's still not been great. Dh reminded me that if we hadn't lost Taylor then we wouldn't have Lucas now which helped.

Well, that about it from me except did I mention we are waiting to see if Lucas has chicken pox. My nephew has it and we were with him last week before his spots appeared. He would have been contagious so we'll have to wait and see what this week brings!

Take care all

Jaysfirst · 22/01/2006 18:45

Well i managd the night out with only two exts home to see that all was ok!! i left my Mum with three bottles , all with 4ozs in them, went out at 5.30 ater giving Harri a feed at about 4 30, when i got back at 12 45, she ha had all of them...and then a wholle heap more of breast......god shes such a porker! Mind id rather have that than the other way i guess.

SH, hugs to yuom it cant be easy when the first anniversary comes along, stay strong, sounds like you and your other half supported each other well, hugs to you

George, i too have been singing to Harri, however i forget the words most of the time and end up singing a load of crap to her, DH thinks i have lost it, i have to remind him that i lost it about 9 months ago!!

My Mum had gone now, it was so lpvly to have her here as i dont know anyone around here really... She has spent five days with us helping out with housework and babysiting, cooking and general support. Am going to miss her a lot now shes back in Notts, not sure whe we will get to see her again, hope its not long.

Still tired as anything, but i guess that comes with being a new mum, wonde when it will be before i get to sleep through the night again.......[wishful thinkig emotion!!!]

Have still been suffering with seriously sore sciatica, went to the pysio and am going to be starting a course of acupunture, all free on the NHS!!! HOW GOOD IS THAT... will let you kow how i get on.

Hi to everyone ans their bubs, still a fair few that havnt been around for a while, hope youre all not pulling your hair out too much!

xxx

ei23 · 22/01/2006 21:17

hello everybody!!!
how is everyone? iv been lurking but havent had a chance to post! wow its hard work being a mummy aint it!! im loving every minute tho!! im still breast feeding exclusively- after a couple of pretty rocky days and nights i finally feel as if theres a 'routine' setting in!!fingers crossed it carries on!!
about the secret stork thing- are we telling yet?? im dying to know who was mine!!
hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their bundles!! sian is a little angel and is already showing her own little personality!! shes stubborn just like her daddy!! anywho... il have to start to make a bit more effort to post when i can cos i have really valued the support that you ladies gave when i was preggers and would really miss you guys if i was to stop comin on here!!
love and hugs and dribbley babies to you all!! xx

Nemo1977 · 23/01/2006 09:22

hello all
EI I echo your sentiment about the support while pregnant, and also with some of the ladies the support before through the mc etc. thanks to you all.

glad to see a few more posting and that things are going well for most. Hugs to all who are sleep deprived.

WE are all full of cold here which has been a bit of a nightmare as poor hannah cant have anything. I feel awful so dealing with a 2yr old and a 5wk old when all I want to do is crawl into bed has been hard. Plus the whole toilet training thing has added a whole other dimension..lol Luckily think we are generally on the other side with the toileting as adam has been out of nappies in the day for 2 weeks and accident free for 10days. Although he is being a tinker of a morning and today i was greeted at 7am with poo all over his bedroom carpet. He insists on taking his nappy off in the morning and obviously today he must have pooped in the night...sigh. At least dh is yet to contract 'man flu' so should be glad of small blessings..lol

georgeandwigglyjake · 23/01/2006 12:33

Hurray for a decent(ish) nights sleep.
Jake slept from 1.00 til 8.15 with only 1 feed at 4.15 - 5.30ish. What a difference.
Rough weekend as I was feeling a bit down with lack of sleep and thinking I was being a bit crap really but feel so much brighter today. I have even cleaned the bathroom & dusted the sitting room!!

Ei, well done for keeping going on b/f exclusively. It's tough going. I think Jake is happier with the mix of feeds & he will drink from anything going as he is so greedy (he will be on a beaker next week!!)no trouble offering bottle or boob here.

Sorry you have colds Nemo, just what you don't need at the moment. Is Hannah really 5 weeks old already? I really don't want Jakey to grow out of his newborn clothes, I like him small baby sized.

Well he is waking up again (I swear he knows when I sit down with a coffee & the computer!)so better go.

Meant to say, for those that didn't notice me out myself by forgetting to change my secret stork posting name back before posting on another thread, I was Kangels secret stork - see Ninah not me at all!!!

scully · 23/01/2006 16:16

hi all, had computer probs of late so haven't been able to do anything......also settling into a nice routine here and getting out and about more now, with both children. dd2 waking twice a night for feeds but now the times are about the same each evening and she settles quite easily afterwards I'm tired but not exhausted most days. All had colds here too, dh has 'manflu' as you put it so well Nemo but has managed to not take a day off yet - he realises he won't get any peace here either so he may as well be at work

ebbie22 · 23/01/2006 16:28

Well, finally I get to try and catch up on here....Im sooo knackard, not because of abi or jack just because i am,if that makes sense...I find it hard to go to bed, knowing i havent had any me time[or even any time at all]to read the paper or have a bath in peace...

How are you all getting on?I am trying to read how u all are but never have the time to type back..But today thank god for the telly...Abs is at nursey every afternoon but fri so it gives me quality time with just jack and i,[or thats what i should be doing...]

Havent got a group to take jack too, other than mums and tots where abi used to go on a weds but at mo,no newborns...Was going to the one at the clinic but as i am not a 1st time mum i was told today i am not welcome[even though its just jack and i...]..Am gutted,i so wanted jack to have his own set of friends.....

Routine,i heard you say, whats that?Thoough Jacks not too bad, just always wants the boob, even just seeing one he thinks hes hungry...He sleeps lots too,and gripe water is def helping with his wind,he does the most amazing smiles and the cutest coos...Oh i love it...

Hows everyone elses little ones[or maybe not so little now],Hasnt time flown by??Jack is 6 wks on thursday, god time to start baby dancing again i think...lol,but thats a whole new message altogether...
Take care all, sorry it was all me,me,me but havent really read up,and what i have i have forgotten, must make a note to make notes.....

LOVE TO ALL XXXXX

ei,i was ur ss

Nemo1977 · 23/01/2006 17:35

ebbie i was your SS.

glad to see everyone is starting to get settled. We have a routine of sorts and am lucky to be able to get out and about a lot. Keep meaning to take hannah to baby massage but cant go yet with the colds which have hung around for over a week.

Dh and I have been talking in earnest about whether or not to have another child and jury is still out!!

Can just ask is anyone elses tot really spotty?????? Hannah seems to have gone very spotty the past week all over her face. At first I thought maybe a sweat rash or something but its not going at all.

ebbie22 · 23/01/2006 20:36

Oh thanks nemo,i loved it and Jack is still wearing the baby grow now[just might i add]...Also Jack had what i thought was a heat rash, but turnt out to be a sore throat and viral infection...
How are you all doing?

Nemo1977 · 23/01/2006 20:47

ooo ebbie now you have me thinking maybe H has a viral infection as she has had this cold/croaky throat for over a week now.will make appointment with gp tommorow.

flutterbee · 23/01/2006 20:48

Hi everyone,

life must be getting back to some sort pf normality for some of you as therehave been a few posts since I last checked.

George is growing so muchy I looked at his pics from at the birth and can't believe how much he has changed.

We have to take him to the hospital for his BCG on Wednesday and I am still waiting for his letter to go and have his heart checked I must ring them about it.

Hope you are all keeping happy and well, it's my birthday on Feb 2nd and Mum has said she will babysit so we can gomout for a meal and I'm really looking forwrd to it.
We have also booke a week long holiday in a pine lodge with an en-suite sauna and hot tub on the veranda leading off the bedroom, we go in March and I can't wait. I'm going to get George some little trunks so he can come in the tub with us
