Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
slowangels1 · 05/05/2011 16:08

just popped in to check for janes news. Nothing yet I see.

deb I wonder if babies who are born heavier at birth are quite common to have more significant dips to get them back to a more average weight. no sciwntific fact behind it but sort of makes sense to my odd logic. Alice was born quite high up the centiles (forget what it was but it was quite high) and at one point was below 25th centile and I was put on formula top ups when she was less than a couple of weeks old. I did what mws told me without questioning it as I thought they must know what they are talking about but, honestly, I think it was just her natural pattern of growth. Not wishing to put you off top ups in any way but for alice I found she had alot of terrible screaming fits with tummy ache as we were forcing her to eat too much and too often for her and it also lef to bfing issues too. I say if shes pooing and weeing loads and is content and is feeding generally and hv isn't too bothered then try not to worry (easier said than done I know)

am just having a Brew and ledkr has snuck in and had all the Wine Wink

slowangels1 · 05/05/2011 16:10

Happy new thread. Sorry don't get on much but it is full on with all four to take care of! Archie is a poppet smiling and chuckling. The others love him and dd1 (18 months) lies on the baby gym with him. I think he is refluxing slightly but dr not convinced!

Glad everyone is seems to be getting more sleep now!

Ds1 (7) is so funny when he says Archie, his speech isn't brilliantly clear (he has downs) and it sounds like he is saying Arsey. Which ds2 (6) thinks is hilarious! We maybe should have tried the names out with him first hee hee.

Am not sure how to cut and paste on this iPad, can someone competent add me please?

Good news, S slept 10 -7am last night! If only dh hadn't come home at midnight, dd wet the bed and ds1 crawled into our bed at 4 in the morning, I would feel like a new woman! Grin

I so hope Jane is ok. Maybe she needs a little time to digest the details. Thinking of you, if you are reading.

Bensmum76 · 05/05/2011 18:25

Jane, am thinking of you and hoping you feel able to post soon.
Good to hear from you Delia and Canoe.
There have been so many posts today Im having trouble remembering what you've all said! I'm thinking its baby brain, but more likely just me!
Can someone please add me to the stats;
Bensmum76 - Noah: 20.02.2011: 9lb
Expat, Noah is struggling to sleep in his cot at the moment. Have tried him in it for naps twice today, he falls sleep on me then the minute I put him down he spits out his dummy and cries hysterically! He ended up in our bed again at 3.30am after both me and dh tried for 45 minutes to settle him! Am resigned to the fact that he loves me so much he can't beat to be away from me!
Have Ben's first ever parents evening in half hour, is it sad that I'm excited?!

Good to read more updates. Ledkr yes I spotted you over on one of the reflux threads and was assuming it was silent reflux as I didn't remember you talking about lots of vomit. We have had a really good day today, and I think the bad days are getting less frequent. It's so hard because when it makes her scream, I am sure the screaming must be making it worse, but you can't get a screaming baby to understand that!

Fortunately C is good at night. D wakes early with it doesn't she? It's really a horrid thing. I'm just doing what I can to help, keeping her upright after feeds etc. And clinging to the 'they grow out of it' thing. Our paed said not to wait till 6 months for weaning if she is ready earlier, as it is likely to help, then I've read other people saying it doesn't. It's a while for us until we will be thinking of that tho.

Lovely to read everyone's updates.

Hi ladies, we got some answers today we didn't want to hear.

Firstly we found out that it was Zoe's heart beat we heard in the assessment unit ( we were told it was mine they picked up), dr showed us the print out, her heart rate was normal for a while then dropped dramatically, picked up again and was normal. Dr said in his opinion he would have taken me straight for an emcs after her heart rate dipped, instead i was monitored for another 30 mins then taken upstairs for induction. Zoe passed away in the time taken for me to get upstairs. the placenta had a condition called defective placental maturation, but his alone did not cause her death he said it was most likely that Zoe was laying on her cord which caused hypoxia.

We were also told that Zoe had downs syndrome which we were very shocked about as the blood test taken in pregnancy came back with a 1:750 chance. DP and I had bloods taken for genetic testing.

As for subsequent prenancy i have a slight increased risk of having another stillbirth or child with Downs syndrome. I will be induced around 37/38 weeks, offered a CVS or Amnio and Nuchal fold scan, ( they do not do them routinely in Scotland yet). i would have more scans and doppler blood flow scans.

Sorry for the long post. I will catch up with the rest of the thread later x

debka · 05/05/2011 19:53

jane I am in tears hearing about your poor Zoe, God knows how you must feel :(

At least you know what happened, but to hear that perhaps the outcome would have been different if you'd had an emcs? That is hard.

We've all been thinking of you today, we will carry on thinking of you and I for one will be praying too.

Would love to put Zoe and you on our new stats list- as ledkr said she's still one of 'our' babies, but do say if you'd rather not.

Much love D xxxx

Bensmum - L wakes frequently and is in and out of our bed all night. The only time I get a decent chunk of sleep is when he's in bed with me. We are being persistent though. He napped in his cot for 2 hours today, waking twice but going back to sleep in 5 minutes or so. His nap a few hours ago was not as successful though.

americanexpat · 05/05/2011 20:12

jane - :( debka has already said everything I was going to. I'm so sorry you got such horrible news.

wigglesrock · 05/05/2011 20:24

Jane, I dont know what to say, but my heart skipped a beat when I read your post. How upsetting for you. I will keep you in my thoughts

tadjennyp · 05/05/2011 20:30

So sorry about poor Zoe, Jane. Sad Sad Sad That must have been so painful for you to hear, but you have been immensely brave and dignified as ever. How you have handled all this heartbreak has been so amazing. (((hugs)) to you and your dp.
