Hello! It's me. I thought I'd start a thread which is VERY cheeky for someone who's not been around for AGES! Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Shit, is the fb group really open for all to see? Quite a few of us have posted some quite personal stuff in there. Can others really read the posts or do they just see that we're in the group????

pepperrabbit · 15/05/2011 20:22

All that's ever appeared on my wall is "x posted on MN08" sometimes it's had the discussion title as well I think, but nothing more.
Shall I go and post something pointless on it and you can see what appears on fb??

HavePatience · 15/05/2011 20:23

They just see we're in the group and the fact that we have posted in it but not the actual posts, from what I gather. I'd still prefer people not know I post on it at all... but that's just my opinion.

pepperrabbit · 15/05/2011 20:26

I just commented on the group wall. Did it appear on your feed or just that I'd posted something?

CakeandRoses · 15/05/2011 20:27

I'm so sorry I've caused all this trouble on my first week here Blush

star is right tho, no-one can see the actual content of the posts, just the fact you have posted to that group

CakeandRoses · 15/05/2011 20:29

Oh and I think what does/doesn't appear in fellow members feeds is different to your non-member FB friends iyswim?

HavePatience · 15/05/2011 20:29

It's no trouble at all. I Just agree that it needs a rethink, perhaps. But maybe no one will agree with me. In which case, I'll not kick up a fuss, don't worry Wink. We're a friendly group, no worries!

CakeandRoses · 15/05/2011 20:31

pepper i am sooo dreading those proper bday parties. Thus far I've managed to fob -off-- throw ds just small tea parties for families and a couple of friends but not sure how long that'll wash esp as his friends seem to have much bigger/better organised/expensive parties already

HavePatience · 15/05/2011 20:42

I know quite a few people who do only family parties with their kids (including a few in my class). The child might have a friend or two sleepover or something as well, but often not. They bring cakes or something to share at school at snack time as well. I don't think you have to do the whole expensive party thing if you don't want to :) These kids are also perfectly happy as the family party is usually something special like a day trip or show or something (including cake and presents) for the birthday child. That sounds like much less hassle to me.

Coconutfeet · 15/05/2011 20:43

Ah X posted with everyone. I'd be happy for it to be secret, but then I've got no idea how to find it anyway so it can't be any harder for me.

Pistachio - Enjoy the calmness. How brilliant that the other 2 dc have taken things so well so far. I hope the afterpains subside for you soon. I'm still amazed that you managed it all without stitches. Oh to be young and springy Envy.

Pepper - well done for surviving the day. Here have a Wine

HavePatience · 15/05/2011 20:55

awww pistachio, how lovely.
Get some silverettes for curing "chewed" instantly :) I wish someone had told me that early on. But you probably have other ways and will be fine in no time.

I had forgotten that milk doesn't come in all at once. She must be wondering how to turn on the tap! Wink

I love your photos! Keep posting. I love looking at newborns :)
And it doesn't make me broody, so all good!

HavePatience · 15/05/2011 21:00

pepper you do deserve a glass of wine! That sounds like quite a long day, especially when not feeling 100%. Was it at your house? I hope DS at least had a blast to make it all worth it. :)

Q was up for most of last night. I've spotted another molar coming in. I thought the last set were his 2 year molars... but I was wrong! There is clearly one on the upper left coming in right at the back, so that means 3 more of those. He was AWAKE and thrashing and telling me what he wanted "RIGHT NOW!" Shock (mostly he wanted to go play! or have a snack). I left him in the bedroom and DH was on sofa and I was curled up in small chair and I would wait nearly an hour, then go back in quietly and he'd still be awake and then just kick off all over again. So strange. I took a 3.5 hour nap with him today, even though we had cut him down to 2 hours of late.

Fingers crossed for a better night tonight.

Thanks, myjob. Hey Cake - if you PM one of the admins (Jenwa, myjob, csws... can't remember who else at the moment!) then they can add you and then we can see you and "friend" you. :)

Coconutfeet · 15/05/2011 21:29

Thanks Myjob!

Out of interest, has anyone got a juicer - you know, one for juicing whole fruits and veg. I had a really old but good Moulinex one and It's been packed away for a while and now I can't find some of the vital parts, so am thinking of investing in another one. I need to take some more steps to get healthier if I'm ever going to have a chance of carrying a healthy pregnancy. Also, we went to a juice bar the other day and S loved my carrot and ginger juice and my sister's beetroot and apple, so I thought I might try and get another one so if anyone's got any recommendations I'd love to hear them.

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/05/2011 21:42

Thanks myjob - I'm happy with that.

I'd be even happier if we set up a new group, as the old groups can't be viewed on a phone, but the new ones can. If I can find time to set one up sometime soon would everyone be happy to switch to it? We'll still have the old secret one if anyone wanted to view historic stuff, but new stuff could go in the new group. Thoughts?

Mad weekend here - spent last night at friends with me and both boys in one room. Not good. Needed first cup of caffeinated coffee in about 6 years today in order not to fall asleep on way back from afternoon out. Will prob stop me from sleeping tonight now!

Pest control coming out tomorrow, as mice ruined 3 of my kitchen cupboards whilst I was away last night, on top of the understairs cupboard door that they ruined last week. Suspect nest in understairs cupboard, but NFW am I looking in there!

HavePatience · 15/05/2011 21:44

Good idea, csws, but let's make that one secret, too Wink

Oh csws that sounds like a nightmare with the rats :( Is D sleeping any better now?

Coconutfeet · 15/05/2011 22:05

That sounds awful CSWS. What did they do to the cupboard, chew it or just crap everywhere? I hope the pest control people can sort it out quickly for you. I know when we had mice recently it felt much worse because I was worried about S crawling around where they'd weed and pooed.

I'm happy with a new fb group too, preferably a secret one. Maybe someone can tell me how find it too. I can't keep up with all the fb changes.

Ignore my juicer ramblings just now. I've managed to locate the vital component of my old one. Carrot and apple juice for breakfast tomorrow!

CakeandRoses · 15/05/2011 23:13

Thanks all for not kicking me out following fbgroup-gate Grin I've PMd csws and myjob (I noticed after I'd PMd you, myjob that you said you were in a hurry so might not have a mo) with my real name so hopefully you can invite me on FB to join your secret squirrel club.

btw i think you can just convert your old group to a new group. i think that's what i did with the july one.

star that's quite a relief to hear that the big parties aren't obligatory these days. it's so much the cost (tho if i'm honest i probably would begrudge the £100s i've seen friends spend on their children's parties), it's more the draughty village halls full of bored parents hanging round the edges texting, party bags full of bits of plastic, 40 random children screeching around fuelled by gallons of fruit shoots that i'm not that keen on I just don't understand when having a lovely party at your own house where you invited your actual friends and ate a home-made birthday cake became a bad idea Sad

csws your night sounds exactly like mine. I could kiss you for saying Q was saying/doing all that because of his molars. All I get is Hmm looks (virtual and in RL) when I say that's what F is doing.

CakeandRoses · 15/05/2011 23:21

sorry, kissed the wrong girl! Blush Managed to get confused by the fact that csws slept in the same room as her DCs (like I did last night) with star having a molar menace (also, like I did last night)

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/05/2011 23:33

You can convert groups Shock? Why the frick didn't someone say so sooner?! Will investigate tomorrow as just on iPad in bed now.

Cake - my dh went to school in the town you live in, and I went to uni in the town you are from!

Star - mice are bad enough without you turning them into rats thanks!!!
Cf - they ate a huge chunk off the door of the understairs cupboard when I shut the kitchen door one night last week, leaving a big pile of sawdust and poo in their wake, then last night they ate the corners off of 3 cupboards at chest height in the utility room! They have been in one of the cupboards at some point recently, as they ate through 2 bags of ground almonds, 2 other bags of nuts, a bag of coconut and a bag of flour, but they didn't get in it last night (must have been left slightly ajar at some point).

ha ha i got into a mild panic at the thought of rats in your house CSWS - very relieved on your behalf to find that they are mice... still most upsetting. When i was still at home with my parents we used to get regular invasions from the fields it was a right pain in the bum. It used to stop me sleeping quite a lot, listening to them chew things. One of the downsides of living out in the countryside i guess.

Pistachio what a fantastic birth experience! and even though you're relieved that its your last one, what a lovely way to finish. having decided not to have any more either i feel like i have dodged a massive bullet by not having had to be cut or stitched.... could have done without the induction but there is no messing with pre-eclampsia

hello Cake! I don't mind a bit of cursing :) I live quite near CSWS and have a Sept '10 baby boy as well as Emma (from this thread)

heather1980 · 16/05/2011 10:35

hello all!!!
long time no see.
congrats pistachio, that is some baby! i had shocking afterpains after samuel was born, i wish some one had told me, i seem to remember them after alex but they were much worse 3rd time round Angry

All well here, we've just enrolled A in preschool for september, he doesn't get his funded place till january so i have to pay £9.50 a session for one term. i've only put him in for 2 mornings as we can't afford any more and as i only work 15hrs a week tax credits wont pay me back, apparently you have to work 16 hrs to get any money back.

baby Sam is starting to teethe atm, we have snot slugs everywhere and it is rather disgusting, no idea how much snot can come out of such a small nose!
