Hello! It's me. I thought I'd start a thread which is VERY cheeky for someone who's not been around for AGES! Grin

pistachio

How funny, I popped into our pre-school this morning, where DD has been on the list since she was a week old!!! And they are full for September Angry Angry they have to give priority to those starting school in 2012, which Iunderstand, but I was kind of relying on 2 sessions a week, not much really come Sept.
I am 3rd on the list apparently... but it depends on people rejecting their places they've been offered. It's not the end of the world.....
Have really really galloping snotty cold today so festering indoors with DD, who is quite happy pottering after a busy weekend. The fact that she's pottering her way through DS1s birthday presents from yesterday will no doubt cause some ructions after school though! Pretty sure DS1 memorised where they all were before he left Hmm. He has some of my slightly OCD traits Grin
CSWS - bleagh for mice, yuckity yuckity yuck!

heather1980 · 16/05/2011 12:47

well the pre school were a bit Hmm about only wanting 2 mornings, they prefer people to have 5. but dd is starting at the school in september and they offer priority places for siblings so they couldn't not offer me one. he'll be going 5 mornings after christmas.

HavePatience · 16/05/2011 13:04

I'm doing private nursery for Q 2 days 8am-3.30pm mon tues then wed-fri with cm from september. Funding comes in January, so should reduce my bill a bit for the hours that he can get. (I HOPE.... what's all this about cuts? Will they not be funded hours anymore?)

CakeandRoses · 16/05/2011 19:39

I find the whole nursery funding thing so annoyingly awkward and confusing. We're intending to keep F at his private nursery as he already is there and happy 2 days a week. afaik, he'll have to go for 3 days to get full funding so not sure what we'll do then.

pepper very annoying re the nursery places being full, what will you do if you don't get one?

csws the amount of coincidences between us is just spooky!

Purpleprickles · 16/05/2011 20:35

Erm hello can I come back? It's me, RachieW who now has a very grown up ds with a Gruffalo obsession. I had a lot of e-mails from fb today from the group page and thought it might be a sign I should start chatting again.....

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 07:48

how're you feeling today pistachio?

Hello purple Smile It's all about the gruffalo casa Cake too - it's become like a family bible here where we quote randomly quote bits of it to each other Grin

F's in nursery today which kinda feels like a day off as A is so easy (when not teething). have a million chores to do tho.

ronshar · 17/05/2011 13:51

Quick apology to CAKES.
Not caks. Sorry. I am always in such a rush I forget to double check every post.

W is driving me so bloody crazy that if I had the money to put him in full time nursery I would. He does two mornings at the moment and will be going up to three in September and then the full five funded sessions in January. I can't wait.

I like the new secret group. Thank you Myjob.

Pistachio. Number three after paains are the very worst of all. Dont worry they dont last long. And cry away. You may as well let it all out. You wont have time soonWink

Purpleprickles · 17/05/2011 20:49

Glad to hear we are not the only Gruffalo crazy house Cakes. We regularly do the quoting too! Ds is also really into Fireman Sam and more recently Toy Story.
Congratulations Pistachio. I've just checked out your pics on fb, lovely :)

awww pistachio, that's lovely!

I can distinctly remember DH and I both wanting to hold Q and I remember feeling superior that the food source was attached to me so I could at any time just say, "he needs milk now" and DH would have to hand him over Grin.

Glad you've been keeping busy, too. Impressive that you're out and about already! Is your DH off for 2 weeks? or longer? Do you have anyone around to help after that for just a bit?

oh that's good, pistachio. Plenty of time to get used to having a "group" of dc, then Grin

Q has been experimenting a lot with telling us he wants something "RIGHT NOW"
Shock
He's getting no response or an "oh, that's not nice" with a walk-away when he does it, so he's catching on quickly, but I have caught myself saying it a few times of late Blush... at least I know where it comes from.

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 21:59

oh 3 weeks is great pistachio. i mean, obv it should be more but 3 w is deffo better than the usual 2. and fab that you have some help from your mum too.

but you're making me feel broodier and broodier with each post Grin

can i ask why you decided to have 3 children? feel free to tell me to mind my own.

i would LOVE another pg/baby but really don't think i actually want a 3 children lifestyle iyswim?

it's also toy story and thomas here. we're going to see a stage show for the latter on sat - F will wet himself Smile

Grin at you noticing you say 'right now' star

F is annoying the crap outta dh by picking up all my worst traits and sayings. dh's least fave is F asking him if he's sure about stuff all the time - eg F: "Where's the Fat Controller?" dh:"erm, at the station with Percy" F:"are you sure?" Grin

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 22:10

sorry, the toy story/thomas was to purple

yy, pistachio, i've noticed that on threads re your family feeling complete or not. that scares me actually as i'm not really sure we do feel complete.

but i don't want to move, get a new car etc etc tho!

tbh, i'm probably too old (40 this year Shock) so perhaps i should just focus on that as the reason not to

Purpleprickles · 17/05/2011 22:16

Cakes hope you enjoy the Thomas show. We took J to see Fireman Sam a few months ago. I could have cried at the look on his face, pure delight and excitement Grin I'm taking him to see The Tiger Who Came to Tea tomorrow, not sure it will get the same reaction but it's one of my fav books so we're going.
Star I get foot stamping and hands on hips when his lordship really wants something. Needless to say it doesn't get him anywhere.

HavePatience · 17/05/2011 22:36

We are huge Thomas, gruffalo and pirate fans over here :) I tookQ to the Thomas day out on the watercress line and he always talks about it..."remember, mommy? We did see the REAL Thomas! He was steaming! I did ride on him!"...etc.
Where are you seeing Thomas on stage? (I'm in Surrey, btw).

HavePatience · 17/05/2011 22:42

Rachie - I just pray he doesn't do it in public! I'm sure he will...

This damn tooth. I have no idea what those other back molars were. These must be the 2 year ones. It looks painful... But really, is it a reason to wake up for hours each night kicking and moaning??
I don't know how I used to survive and go teach on about 3 hours sleep when he was younger!! Crazy!

I'm 32, so just one year older than pistachio, but I still feel that if we change our minds in the future, we could have another. Not thinking that way or wanting that now, though.

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 22:51

"he was steaming" Smile

it's in harlow, essex star. it's about 20 mins away from us but too far for you unless you're hardcore!

re teeth - they have 20 milk teeth in total - will he let you count them? they have two molarish looking ones in total. we get the last one (not counting wisdom) later on

F properly screams and thrashes with his so it sounds normal (but shit) to me

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 22:53

2 molarish ones per gum, i meant, so 8 in total

HavePatience · 18/05/2011 07:38

Maybe the last ones weren't molars, then. Just painful back teeth. These are definitely bigger and causing more distress.

am laughing at drunk Thomas - in front of the children too!
its good for me to hear the rationale behind having more or not... i am pretty definite based on the fact that i struggle so much with the baby stage, emotionally. Also the end of pregnancy doesn't seem to go well for me and by all accounts will just be worse again if i try again, am 36 etc.... however on top of all of that i feel like we have a family with the two of them.

Talking of never again, i may be about to stop BF. We are down to only the bedtime feed (and if he wakes up at night), but he is getting a bit difficult, biting etc... to the extent that last night i had to stop feeding him because he kept nipping me. I ended up giving him a cup of formula beasue he was still hungry and he guzzled it down and fell asleep.

It's very strange.. after only managing a couple of months with Emma, I never expected to be worrying about giving it up at nearly 8 months with Orin, but with me back at work FT someone else being able to put him to bed would offer me and DH quite a bit more flexibility.... arg... am just scared of giving up the bond now.
