Star, I'm glad you've found a counsellor who makes the session a safe space for talking about what you've been through and all the many ways it's travelled into the rest of your life. Battle on, and know we're here.

On the other thing, I've had a shocker of a shite parenting day today. Shouting doesn't work. I've been shoutless for ages and today has been vile and beyond crap just because I can't face another day of colouring in and bricks. I find that once the weather turns and it's easier to get out and about my head clears a bit. It will have to be clearer right this minute though as they're all headed this way again.

Lovely, lovely news on the baby Merlion.
Sorry to post and run the other day, Silks.
And now running again ...

CaptainCaveman · 18/01/2011 18:26

Phew, dissertation writing is slowly drifting into some sensible view through the fog I've been wading in for the past few days! But Gahhhh, still so much to do!!

star although I can't physically help you with moving, if we can be of any assistance in any other way for your upheaval please don't hesitate to let us know? Like red said, it's great that you have a counsellour (sp?) who seems to understand - although a different circumstance, I remember that someone else acknowledging my sadness at my situation was quite profound for me. Kind of like I realised (later) that it was ok to be sad? Hope that helps, please ignore if not Smile

TwilightSurfer · 18/01/2011 18:42

Red (((Hugs)))
Star ((((Hugs)))
I've been avoiding admitting my crap parenting lately. I'll still keep it all to myself if you don't mind. I did however purchase a new ebook last night that I began reading WITH DD1 this morning. The book's title: The Parent's T ao T e C hing A cient A dvice F or M odern P arents. So far we both like it . Smile

TwilightSurfer · 18/01/2011 18:44

YAY! Merlion!!!Smile

HippyHippopotamus · 18/01/2011 19:10

evening all
both dcs asleep at 6.30, dh out tonight so i'm scoffing a pizza all by myself in blissful quiet Smile

well done cc, v proud of you!

red i absolutely agree with you about being able to get out, makes such a huge difference. spring is here though so i'm sure it'll arrive at yours very soon

CrispyTheCrisp · 18/01/2011 19:48

Evening all Smile

{{{{hugs}}}} for star, i cannot even begin to imagine the impact of such a bereavement on you Sad. I imagine there will always be a void, a loneliness that nothing will ever fill because he was SO special to you. I feel awful that no words can even begin to replace 1% of him, so i will return to the hugs and a glass of non-alcoholic vino. Please, please do keep coming on here and talking about him though. I love hearing your stories Smile

Re tantrumming toddlers, 'tick'. DD2 screamed the house down at bedtime as i wouldn't let her take fairy barbie and all her accoutrements to bed with her . Generally i ignore tantrums and go and get on with something else. If they are pulling and grabbing at me i simply extract them, say no and remove myself to another room. My shoutiness appears when they are deaf, although i have learned that DD1 will respond to 'Oi cloth ears' which i find quite useful Grin

Fabulous news on the scan Merlion Smile. Have they changed your dates at all?

[norty BBBB]Grin

bibi hope they stop arsing around with DH's shifts smartish or i shall come up and have words. Please pop by for a chat when you have a chance, we miss you Sad

cece well done on all the writing, are you happy with it so far?

I am off t'pub now for some nosh with a bunch of friends. Laters ladies.....

HippyHippopotamus · 18/01/2011 20:51

star keep forgetting to tell you....everytime i pick up ds's sponges to bath him i think of you (Actually, i'm really hoping it was you telling us about you and Si giggling at your dad using the 'bum' sponge on his face...it was you, wasn't it?!)

BibiBelle · 18/01/2011 21:04

Merlion that's wonderful news, just perfect Smile I'm rather fond of little girls Grin

star - hugs from me too. I can't even begin to imagine what loosing S must have been like but agree completely with Crisp that I love to hear about him Smile

Cece - keep going, you're doing great!

BBBB when are you home, can't wait to hear all about it!

Loti please be taking better care of yourself - you're a worry lady!

sorry to hear of tiring children. I always find Jan to be a tad harsh. They're on the post Christmas low, tis shitey weather, it's dark and it's tired. Give yourselves a break - you can't be perfect all the time Wink

Thank you all for being kind enough to miss me, am in a bit of a funk at the minute that I'm trying to kick up the arse so very aware of my constant whinging Blush

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 18/01/2011 21:54

Hippy yes it was us with the bum sponge! Grin And thank you so much for telling me that, you have made me giggle and smile today :)

Thank you everyone. You are true friends and I value you all so much

DS was perfectly lovely after his nap, proving that he does need one every now and again Blush

SilkStalkings · 18/01/2011 22:06

Urgent! Did a Zumba class today and am already feeling the pain - anyone got any tips before I go to bed? I just know I'm hardly going to be able to walk in the morning!

HippyHippopotamus · 18/01/2011 22:40

you're very welcome star! i've been meaning to tell you for months. oh and you're not so bad yourself Smile

silks erm my advice would be to make sure you stretch before your class. but suspect that won't be much help .... stable door, horse and all that! sorry no sensible advice now, maybe a bath? not sure

bibi i'm more than happy to listen to your whinging...i've certainly done enough of it myself in the last few years

crisp i'm ignoring the last line of your post!

dh still not back, ignoring my texts. in fact he has been all day, i suspect its because the battery i found for his shaver was flat. it was the only aaa one i had hey ho

good night my lovelies

CrispyTheCrisp · 18/01/2011 23:41

Lovely nosh, lovely chat Smile

silks i would have said a hot bath and a stretch to help before bed. I managed a 10k run today so am a bit creaky myself.....

hips hope DH gets over his petulant toddler strop and comes back into the communication zone

RedLentil · 19/01/2011 08:38

Morning all. Porridge and lashings of Barry's Tea for you all. Smile

Here's to a brighter day for all.

RedLentil · 19/01/2011 08:41

Not quite sure what happened to elegant variation there. More tea needed, evidently.

UrsulaUndress · 19/01/2011 09:04

Lovely to be welcoming another little girl Smile

Bibi lovey wassap?

Jan is dire, innit?

FjorgynAndHotWater · 19/01/2011 10:19

Morning all Smile

Lots of tea sounds good, am back at work today and very tired after staying up a bit too late reading my book. Oh well, soon be Friday. I love working part time, although not the paltry pay it results in...

star I hope you are feeling a bit better today and J is being a happier boy. DC also going through a wilful phase and is mostly oblivious to telling-off (apart from occasionally when he'll just burst into tears, but still not do what he's told) His latest transgressions include repeatedly climbing from the top bunk onto the wardrobe Shock, oh and he bit his sister really hard yesterday, made her cry and left a nasty mark on her arm. He is usually v good at saying sorry but you can tell he doesn't really mean it Hmm

Hippy I hope your other toddler DH has come to his senses.

silky hope you can move today!

SilkStalkings · 19/01/2011 10:20

Owowowowowowie owie owie. Did some more stretching and had a hot bath last night but yikes, this is why I don't DO exercise! DH was quite touched because he knows I took the class and consequent pain just to make him laughGrin.

Bibi Don't go kicking yourself up the backside if it means you leave things unresolved. Knowing you, kicking your own backside means rushing about and taking some new time commitment.

God it's cold, cup of tea a great idea Lentil.

luckoftheirish · 19/01/2011 12:28

Please Please give me some tea Grin..

Silks poor you on the aching but well done on the exercise class Smile

Urs hope you are on the road to recovery and am complete agreement that Jan sucks! Smile

Watcha fjor Smile..

I also have the dds from hell here!! DD1 being very wilful, not going to bed at and just not listening Hmm.. turning into a very shouty mummy cos i ask her to do something or not to do something, emphasis the please and she still doesn't listen... TS if that book is good i think we need it Smile

DD2 is a whingy whiney mess with periods of amazing sweetness Hmm.. oh and fjor we are still not over father christmas yet.. i get alot of "Jingle Bells" and "we wish you a merry christmas"..

Anyway thank you for all your kind works and advice re the fainting.. unfortunatley its still happening tho thankfully not as often and food does seems to help Hmm..

been invited to a friend's tonight but the nasty mate is going and don't know if i can be bothered..

Big hugs bibi and miss you..

Hip give your big boy a kick up the behind Smile

Star hugs and so pleased that ds is back to his lovely self again..

Red thought of you today whilst i was immersed in building blocks and colouring books Smile..

watcha crisp/cece/merlion/salta and anyone else i have missed..

Ye gods that was a mamouth post and bet you are all bored rotten Grin

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 19/01/2011 12:33

Bibi sometimes it's alright to be in a funk, y'know :)

RedLentil · 19/01/2011 12:35

On the christmas theme, DD2 is complaining that there is holly in her sandwich. Grin

That would be lettuce.

CaptainCaveman · 19/01/2011 12:48

. red would you read this shit work of art I've part-produced? Don't worry if you can't, I know you have loads to do!

loti did you do a diary for your fainting? And have you made another gp appt?

crispy 10K? Shock That's mammoth - are you in training or just enjoying running? I've promised a friend to do the N ottingham half marathon in September....I'll start training when the dissertation is finised Hmm. Not sure if I'm looking forwards to that or not!

dh still job hunting but happy

star lol at bum sponge - I forgot about that and it did make me lol when you shared that Grin

FjorgynAndHotWater · 19/01/2011 12:48

Arf at holly / lettuce red Grin DH said DS is convinced it is Christmas again today due to the frosty pavements...

Loti think you need to look up a low GI diet. Go on, do it now! No more fruit fro brekker young lady until you have sorted this out

How are you star? Have you got a date for moving yet? I hope we have time to squeeze in another meet so we can see you before you go Smile

silky you eased up yet?

CaptainCaveman · 19/01/2011 12:55

A half term meet Hots? I'd love you all to meet ds1, he's such a comedian! Nearly typed ds11 there....Confused perish the thought.

Did anyone else watch big fat gypsy wedding last night (I saw your fb status Star)! It was great!!!

FjorgynAndHotWater · 19/01/2011 12:55

Hey cece Smile

FjorgynAndHotWater · 19/01/2011 12:58

We have met him, and your DNiece, and your mum Grin! Was the first time we met up at yours, was that Feb half term last year?
