roosmum · 14/09/2005 09:52

hi all!

yes we have remote control/mobile lust here too, & roo can also change the channel he's found the dvd player too...

tipex - sleep training isn't any particular method (& def not cc). roo goes to bed around 9, after a feed & then wakes any time between midnight & 1.30, when i feed him. then if he wakes again before 5-6ish (which he invariably does - between 3-4), dh goes in to settle him hopefully (usually) without picking him up. it's been abt a week now i think, def getting easier to settle him down i think for dh. had to do something as he was beginning to wake every 2 hrs, no could do! i'm just waiting to see whether he'll give up on waking at 3, & so be down to 2 feeds - the morning one (ie 5-6) is no problem, if he dropped the other then he'd be sleeping through which i really don't expect any time soon. my friend's bf 10mth old still feeds 2-3 times per night, & most babies i know of similar age to roo are up at 4ish (even if ff). he doesn't eat huge amounts of solids really (breakfast esp poor), tho i try to make sure he gets plenty of milk too in the day. i wonder if the 2 are linked..??

hazellnut - yeah the baby group was just in a church hall, run by a couple of health visitors, usual thing, ie toys & play for babes, coffee & chat for mums, followed by singing. we've been to 2 new ones this past week, which means that we'll be out every day this week! i kinda like it sometimes when we just get a day at home, no pressure to dash out anywhere iykwim. but shd be nice today, gorgeous weather for meeting postnatal buds, give the cinema a miss in favour of lunch in the park i think. do try a baby group hazellnut, specially if you know someone that goes to one & can recommend, also it's nice to have a familiar face there too. most people are v. friendly & it's nice to chat etc, plus they're free or v. cheap!

roo's fave food is undoubtedly avocado - recently with chicken. also LOVES pasta, whether mushed up or as finger food. & strawberries/blackberries LOVES LOVES these! we usually make little yoghurts from them & then have to shovel like mad to get it in his mouth fast enough!

starlover - do your fuzzis still leak?? just bought a dizzy diaper, been fancying one for a while & a popolini onesize, dunno why! shd prob have bought a bamboozle, which i really like the sound of - nik, gotta let me know how it performs!

phew, sooo long..!

roosmum · 14/09/2005 09:54

ooh, gossifer, what works for us is well-fried egg (& mainly the yolk) mashed with baked beans (low salt & sugar) & a few toast soldiers. other than that, what abt little omelette fingers, for self feeding??

gossifer · 14/09/2005 13:08

roosmum - love the omelette finger idea, thanks!

hazelnut - we have those pasta stars too

leon ate a whole weetabix for brekky and wanted more, its so great when they love things, isn't it?

roosmum · 14/09/2005 22:26

gossifer - hope leon approves of omelette & of his fab weetabix eating, breakfast not a meal that roo recognises atm...

starlover - saw on the rubbish nappies thread that you sometimes use flat terries...how are you folding them? roo seems to be getting big for origami folding, even tho i've lengthened it abt as much as poss. (& what size are your terries? ) am trying to use them a bit more cos they're great really, tho i wouldn't take them for an out & abt change, too much hassle with nippa etc for me - & do you really prefer pins?? i tried pins once & then got a few nippas pronto!

Hazellnut · 15/09/2005 11:51

Had dd's hearing test this morning - all went fine. Its a bit silly really cos I am sure they could fail it if they weren't in the mood for it. But that's another thing done ! The HV looked at her rash too and said she thought it looked like a post viral rash and asked if she'd been ill lately.... but she hasn't as far as I know although she was quite grumpy a few weeks ago which I put down to teething so who knows !? TBH I've had a sore throat and felt under the weather this week but symptoms that you wouldn't know in a baby so maybe she gave it to me - poor dd !!

We also got our bookstart bag - I love books and love buying them for dd so don't need too much encouragement !!

just had an email from one of my antenatal lot to say they are pregnant db2 due end of March 2006 - 13 months between them.... Means she's been pg since dd1 was 4 months old !! Forwarded it on to dh and he's been v. quiet about it ! But don't think he has to worry on that score - am a bit broody but want to wait until at least a yr cos of c-section plus want to lose some of the baby weight before it all goes back on again and go skiing in March !! Mind you, we were both a bit sad yesterday cos I packed up dd's bouncy chair, gym and nest as she wasn't using them anymore ...

Right best do some cleaning, have a hoard of friends descending this weekend as my bf (that's best friend rather boyfriend !) is back from New Zealand.... hoorah !!

starlover · 15/09/2005 15:37

hi everyone!

we also have the remote control/mobile phione fetish! he particularly loves the tiny "baby" size remote for our photo printer!

roosmum... i usually do kite fold (also used to do origami, but linus too big now) but have also been trying out some from a booklet i got sent when i placed an order from twinkle on the web!
will see if i can find some pics online to show you!

i do like using pins, because i find with the nippa that i have to hold BOTH sides of the nappy down while i try and fasten it because he wriggles so much. i get one side on and then he wriggles and it comes off again!
with pins at least i can get one side secure before i tackle the other!

OP posts:
roosmum · 15/09/2005 15:41

thanks sl...you're the second one to suggest kite so kite it will be i think. roo is squeezed into an origami folded terry just now, but it's not gonna last much longer.

just got my dizzy diaper & popolini onesize, think i prefer the look of the dizzy but we'll see.

starlover · 15/09/2005 15:44

ooh let us know how you get on!

we're going to go out for a walk. Linus is being SO grumpy, and refusing to sleep! despite being extra tired due to all his standing up

OP posts:
starlover · 15/09/2005 15:45

if you go here and click on the bottom link you will get the booklet they sent me!
has a gazillion ways of folding!

roosmum · 15/09/2005 15:47

but is it not raining where you are?? we've had rain alll day (up north), such a drag!

how's the icoo? do you like as much as you thought you would??

starlover · 15/09/2005 15:48

yep it is raining. but the constant whining is really getting on my nerves!! lol
the i'coo is FAB! very heavy to lift into car, but worth it

OP posts:
roosmum · 15/09/2005 15:50

yeah roo watches tv sometimes, don't mind if it's storymakers or something special, i actually watch those with him & it's quite good fun! woke this am to the sounds of moomins dvd, which roo loves too. but he has v. carefully selected tv viewing...bagpuss, clangers, moomins, there's a retro tv vibe going on with us!

roosmum · 15/09/2005 15:51

giraffe is heavy too, but i impressed myself the other day by lifting it into car one-handed, with roo in the other arm
mums have hidden reserves of strength i think

roosmum · 15/09/2005 15:55

hello linus!

so you're having typing lessons instead of a walk in the rain??

starlover · 15/09/2005 15:55

he said e3! is he trying to tell me something?

right. have to go he is really wailing now!

OP posts:
roosmum · 15/09/2005 15:57

ohhhhhh, we really know too much abt buggies

you can't get an e3...not just after purchasing the lovely icoo. are you broody sl??!

starlover · 15/09/2005 17:23

yeah! but don't like the e3 anyway!
i was talking about having another one the other day but dp didn't seem overly keen! lol

Hazellnut · 15/09/2005 18:15

Have just found a new fave food for dd - blueberries !! Not quite sure how she manages them with only two teeth but thought I'd try it and she couldn't get enough of them !!

sparlover · 15/09/2005 18:31

aww bless! i have just made some homemade rusks for linus.
well... the whole baking bread in the oven for ages. i am not sure he will like them. they're a bit hard and scratchy

gossifer · 15/09/2005 19:05

sparlover??????????

omelette going down a treat! dp feeding leon whilst i sip g&t, oooh lovely

had first swimming lesson today and leon loved it, but talked so loud all the way through that we could all hardly hear the teacher!

roosmum · 15/09/2005 19:09

i made some biscuits for roo the other day, using pear & apple spread instead of sugar. he wasn't really interested in them & dh didn't like them, si i've eaten them!
what recipe do you use sl? do you have a breadmaker?? if not can 100% recommend them, dh made pizza\last night, dough in breadmaker, v, easy really, & roo really likes it.
hi hazellnut, yum for the blueberries, i once tried to peel them for roo when organic bb were 99p on special offer in sains, took me AGES! guess he cd manage them whole now...
after refusing to eat all day - apart from 1 sugar laden biscotti thing - he's now stuffed himself at dinner time. i'm happier now he's had a good meal, but this is getting to be a pattern with him - hardly eats in the day & then eats a stack of food late in the day. wierd???

right best go bath roo now, he's covered in beans/toast/egg/yoghurt/apple!
