thought i would do the honours!

but thought i'd be a bit more upbeat! lol

Shame about the bag but at least you can send them back if you order them and they're not right !!

yeah that's what i thought! dp is shaking his head in disbelief over my current obsession! lol

THose bags look good but I'm on a "locally-produced organic fruit,veg,&meat" kick at the moment and that will take up all the slack in the budget I think. Would it be sad to ask for a changing bag for Christmas?

I gave ds his first food this morning. He was most unimpressed with the baby rice - pulled a face, spat it out, turned to look out of the window. I had forgotten how foul it looks though. Much the same texture as the sicked-up milk he eats most of the time anyway... He was probably saying "but Mum, why are you spooning it back in?".

Anyway, I gave him an ice-cube of apple puree at lunchtime while dh was slaving over a hot bbq, and he liked that more. Although he was pushing it out a lot. How long did it take yours to learn to move the food to the back of their mouths with their tongue rather than shove it out?

And then while we had lunch, he ate quite a lot of hot-dog roll... No problems chewing and swallowing that. Maybe he's a fingerfood baby!

I'm watching his nappies blowing on the line at the moment. I'm going to have to get out the bigger-size ones soon. I'm secretly hoping we don't have enough so I can get some new ones .

have you seen the tots bots fluffles?????

they're the same, but made of microfibre stuff so reeeeeeeeeeally quick drying. bit like the wee notions if you have any of them?

Mmm they look good. Will just pop down to the cellar to count how many size 2 nappies I have...

Now, asking for some new nappies for Christmas would be really really sad, wouldn't it?

Those totsbots sound good. borrowed a load of size 1s from a friend but they'll be too small fairly soon so may have to invest in fluffle size 2.
Am back to work tomorrow. Ellie has been at nursery every day this week to settle in, which seemed OK. Am just hoping I don't disgrace myself by turning up to work snivelling after dropping her off!

fruitful....yes, really tragic....but then i got round dh's resistance to new nappies a little while back by insisting they were for my birthday

SL - saw fluffles by chance on ebay the other day, they look lovely & are prob. even better than bumbles for the quick-dry thing (tho bumble dries quite fast anyway). don't have any regular tots, preferred the idea of fleece lined bumble, so fluffle looks good (don't like name tho!).

do any feb babies go off their food when teething?? roo's hardly eaten over the last 3 days, being quite good with food before that. wonder whether it's tooth-related....? sleeping ok tho really, just the one wake now.
meal out was nice, but i felt terribly guilty when i got in, like i'd wasted an evening almost & shd have been home for my little boy...
he was fine with dh, but i still just felt bad.

like the thread title SL, but still not got any fancy bags here, thinking of making a swanky one, with the exact pockets/sizes/dimensions (for food, nappies, my stuff) if i cd find nice material etc!

enjoy the sleep tipex! roo has had abt 1/2 hour of napping today (abt 10 mins this am, abt 20 mins this pm), which CANNOT be enough?! he does normally have a bit more, tho some days maybe not much more...he'd better sleep well tonight

Playgroup started this morning. And I managed to keep ds awake till I got back from dropping dd off, and then he slept until it was time to pick her up. Bliss, bliss, bliss...

Although it is quite disheartening to think that I may spend all my summers for the forseeable future, longing for school to start again.

Well, am weathering being back at work ok, actually quite enjoying it! Dd seems fine at nursery too, so don't feel too racked with guilt. Have celebrated my new found earning power by buying some totsbots fluffles and bamboozles .

Sam is teething...screamed blue murder tonight when having his beaker..I remember this with my first son in that he didn't like the sucking action on the beaker when teeth were coming through. I can feel one in Sam's mouth and I am sure the one next to it is on its way so no wonder he is annoyed! Early night for me I think as I have a feeling he may be up in the night! Not crawling yet..7 months tomorrow and sitting up very well...gets annoyed though as he can't move but loves it when he can stand up (with me holding his hands)..I think he believes he is like his big brother when he does that!

Two teeth through and still breastfeeding with no bites yet.
Is anyone else still breastfeeding? All my RL chums have ditched it and I feel like the odd one out

Hi, hope all is well with you all. DD isnt sitting up or crawling yet but don't think it will be long. She managed to escape from her playring today and was desperately trying to get to the cat! She's eating like a right piggy at the moment though, takes after her mum!

Nik72, my dd hates being on her front too. Infact she gets quite self righteous and gives me daggers when i dare to try
fruitful, are you serious about the bread roll? Can they chew on bread? (I am being serious as dd loves her food and i feel she's dying to join in at meals)
I made a batch of chicken casserole for her the other night and she loved it.

Angeliz, absolutely! Unicef or some group like that recommend "baby-led weaning" where you don't give them purees at all, just hand them stuff off your plate and let them get on with it. I wouldn't go that far, but he is having finger food at teatime with us, and I'm not worrying about whether he eats anything or not. We do purees at breakfast. Tonight he had two fingers of toast to play with - think he swallowed about half of it in the end. Gags a bit when bits get to the back of his mouth before he is ready. But he seems to know how to chew. I tried cooked carrot sticks but they fell apart in his hands, and banana sticks just slipped away from him. Still, its all good entertainment and at least he doesn't spend mealtimes moaning at me and dd any more.

She has demolished a few rice cakes but i get really nervous about her choking. She is SO ready for real food though!

well leon got his 1st tooth on sat and is still commando moving all over the place; he's had an awful cold & has been sleeping really badly ; i'm doing a couple of days of work from home - so no MN and he'll be going to nursery in a month for 2 days a week, feeling weird about that

Hi! Great to hear from you Angeliz - how is your dd1 getting on?

Am on my day off today and really enjoying being with Ellie. I think for me being at work part time will work well as I get the best of both worlds and I wasn't really dealing so well with the whole being at home with baby all the time thing. Still, it was odd being at work as I felt as if I'd never left and wondered at one point if I'd imagined the whole having a baby thing yet was missing her at the same time.... Was glad my brain wasn't as porridge-like as I'd feared and it all came back fairly fast!.

Does anyone have a good alternative to rusks? They seem to be full of sugar. Have tried rice cakes but she just waves them around. Should I try toast or does anyone have a home made rusk recipe??

Hello all - sorry to hear all about the cold-y babies !! Nik72 glad work is going well. I have left dd in a creche at the gym a couple of times this week which has been hard but dd is absolutely fine and seems to love it, playing with and watching all the other babies so I guess no excuses for not going to the gym !!

Gossifer - we went to kew today, met a friend there that lives on the silverlink line so it was ideal. It was lovely except dd kept stealing the other baby's food - she's such a piggy !!

Here's Annabel Karmel's rusk recipe Nik72 - Cut a thick (1 cm) slice of wholemeal bread into 3 strips. Melt 1/8 teaspoon of marmite in 1 teaspoon boiling water and brush evenly over the bread strips. Bake in oven (180 c/ 350 F/ gas mark 4) for 15 mins. Leave out marmite if prefer - can add grated cheese. Store in airtight container for 4 days.

Hmm... sounds a bit like toast to me .... Haven't tried it - let us know if you do !!

Linus eats rusks! dp and i have decided not to "ban" foods but to try and teach him moderation... hopefully!
i figure a rusk now and then doesn't do him any harm!

linus loves to eat ANYTHING he can get his hands on, he loves having a slice of melon, which he mostly sucks on but if he gets a lump of it in his mouth he just spits it out! he likes bread too, and the heinz biscotti biscuits.

and he is crawling! all over the place... it's crazy trying to keep up with him now. he has also decided that he likes to pull himself up on things. but only my legs or the tv cabinet! won't do it on anything else

DD loves those biscotti biscuits too - think they are essentially rusks under a different name but easier to hold ?! Mind you she usually covers her clothes etc in it too.

The crawling sounds fab - I can't wait till dd masters it although I KNOW I won't be saying that once she does !!
