I can't tell you how much I hope the Conservatives win the election.

Just had to get that off my chest.

Please come and join me if you feel the same, and then I can stop annoying myself (and others) by hijacking the anti-Tory threads.

Can't tell you how much I disagree. Sorry for the hijack!

ouryve · 02/05/2010 21:17

I feel less bad that they will probably win, given the statements, recently, that whoever gets in isn't going to stay popular for long. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, in the short term.

tarantula · 02/05/2010 21:25

yeah cos I really want all the people earning low wages to pay more tax so all those earning lots can pay less. Great idea that!!!!

Or maybe not!

AntoinetteOuradi · 02/05/2010 21:25

Oh dear. Well, if I go around hijacking lefty posts, I can only expect the same in return.

JackiePaper · 02/05/2010 21:26

I can't tell you how much i hope they don't.

I grew up under a tory government and i wouldn't want to inflict the same misery on my children

AntoinetteOuradi · 02/05/2010 21:28

Oh, so did I (grow up under a Tory government). I would like my own children to grow up with the same enthusiasm, opportunities and generally positive attitudes that I grew up with!

OP posts:
JackiePaper · 02/05/2010 21:34

I remember the positive attitudes i experienced - they were from my left wing parents.

I also remember class sizes of 42 and people dying on waiting lists.

SugarSkyHigh · 02/05/2010 21:34

If they win I will breathe a sigh of relief. It's long overdue!

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 21:37

Oh yes. I am really looking forward to, for example having the gay demons removed from homosexuals as statute law.

AntoinetteOuradi · 02/05/2010 21:37

Hello, Sugar. So I am not the only one!

Jackie, I don't remember that kind of class size myself. And I believe people are still dying on waiting lists, aren't they? (Including my DH's aunt, very recently).

OP posts:
AntoinetteOuradi · 02/05/2010 21:38

RealDemosthenes: oh, honestly.

If they get in, I think you will soon find yourself regretting this thread.

electra · 02/05/2010 21:39

The problem is that some people may well have opportunities under a Tory government (my family was ok under Thatcher's administration but we had friends who were not)

For those who weren't lucky enough to be born into a situation that affords opportunities things are not so positive.....in fact they are decidedly crappy.

toccatanfudge · 02/05/2010 21:40

you remember opportunities??

really? I don't - I remember poverty, deprivation, no jobs, and my parents feeling the need to give up everything they'd ever worked for, including selling the house (that was worth peanuts) to move from the NE of England after the Tories killed the local economy with their policies just to give us the vague chance of having a few chances in life.

BertieBotts · 02/05/2010 21:41

So, why are you hoping they will win? I would be interested what you think they will bring to this country.

(Genuinely interested, BTW, not having a go, though I notice you never answered my reply to you on the other thread )

Baileysismyfriend · 02/05/2010 21:41

In a way I hope they do get in as this country faces so many cuts and hardship over the next few years that whoever gets in is doomed to be remembered for that for a long time.

twisted emotion

JackiePaper · 02/05/2010 21:41

waiting lists are a HECK of a lot shorter than they were under the last tory government. There are also thousands more nurses and midwives.

There were 42 kids in my yr 4 class at primary school in 1990. with 1 teacher. and no TAs.

BarackObama · 02/05/2010 21:42

Yes, our class sizes were about 42. Used to have to sit 3 round a pair of desks.

I went to see my GP last week about something - got my hospital appointment for May 10.

AntoinetteOuradi · 02/05/2010 21:42

Rather as things are for many, many people now, Electra!

Janeite, my family will be quite seriously stuffed if we get another Labour government, and even more so if we get a hung parliament. So I really can't see myself regretting this thread, even if the Conservatives are not some magical cure for every ill.

OP posts:
VinegarTits · 02/05/2010 21:43

i think youre seriously deluded, but hey ho

Baileysismyfriend · 02/05/2010 21:44

Why will you family be stuffed? - not being awkward, would generally like to know.

Hullygully · 02/05/2010 21:44

Oh me too! They have such nice haircuts. I am just about fed up with those weirdy pinko haircuts we see everyday and all those funny banana size laws!!!!!

Takver · 02/05/2010 21:45

I'm interested as to why your family will be stuffed by another labour govt? (or indeed by a hung parliament)?

GlastonburyGoddess · 02/05/2010 21:45

oh yes, cant wait to lose our tax credits and lea nursery vouchers

expatinscotland · 02/05/2010 21:47

Under the Tory government is always such a great time to be in Scotland.
