Just had to get that off my chest.

Please come and join me if you feel the same, and then I can stop annoying myself (and others) by hijacking the anti-Tory threads.

Here is a little light relief. Enjoy.

skihorse · 06/05/2010 12:45

Zephire - I prefer to analyse a variety of media and sources and draw my own conclusions - I'd hate my thoughts to be dependent of only one source.

I think it's quite stunning for example how we are currently "out of recession" by what? A fraction of a percentage point - as a result of enormous public spending and how much QE? 200 billion pumped (printed) in to the economy and all it could do was splutter - does not bode well IME.

antoinette We're all fecked either way - unless you are of course posting from your retreat in Monte Carlo!

ZephirineDrouhin · 06/05/2010 12:49

skihorse, I'm not sure what you mean about media sources. Are you suggesting I get all my news from the Telegraph

And what was you point about Inheritance Tax?

skihorse · 06/05/2010 12:54

A variety of TV channels/newspapers/magazines/independent economists etc.

An increase in the IHT threshold will reduce the burden for the many, not the few. Or at least all those yummy-mummies who live in Putney.

I however will continue to piss in my pot and my kids will inherit only my stunning good looks and brains. ahem The pot will probably have to be given back to the bank.

ZephirineDrouhin · 06/05/2010 12:59

Eh, skihorse? Did I say something or link to something which suggests I only get my news from one source. Admittedly I don't spend a lot of time on the Murdoch outfits if that's what you mean.

I'm still not getting your point on Inheritance Tax I'm afraid. You seem to be suggesting that Putney yummy-mummies and their ilk are a priority for tax breaks. Is that right?

jackstarbright · 06/05/2010 13:02

Zeph - Of course both the FT and Telegraph are now supporting a Tory government. Is that because they don't believe the Tory cuts will be too dramatic after all or because they think Labour / LibDems pose a bigger threat to our recovery?

ZephirineDrouhin · 06/05/2010 13:14

The FT's backing of the Tories is pretty lukewarm to say the least. As for the Telegraph, well they were never going to back anyone else were they?

jackstarbright · 06/05/2010 13:49

I agree with you there Zeph. I was a bit surpised at the FT backing any party, even a lukewarm backing. Tis my paper of choice at the moment! A reasonable haven of (mostly) opinion free news!

salizchap · 06/05/2010 20:05

I am starting to hope we get a tory under a minute majority who will find themselves so universally disliked that we will vote them right back out again in 4 years.
