Just had to get that off my chest.

Please come and join me if you feel the same, and then I can stop annoying myself (and others) by hijacking the anti-Tory threads.

Well to non-Tories it is a rathe4r provocative title, even if not meant to be so.

Politics invites debate, I guess that is why you have been on a range of threads previously?

Couple more Tory badge suggestions:

"Fuck the poor"

and

"I'm alright Jack".

Anyway, enjoy tomorrow and the next few years.

antoinettechigur · 05/05/2010 19:20

sorry that was mainly for my semi-namesake

ItsGrimUpNorth · 05/05/2010 19:24

And, if the Tories don't get us out of the financial schtuck, will it be a case of, "Well, Labour mucked it up for so many years, we just can't sort it out," for the next four generations?

I very much doubt Cameron and Osbourne (shudder! there goes the man of zero experience. Even the City is worried about that particular CoE) would have been half as pro active in bailing out the banks and then where would we be?

Their laissez-faire devotion to the markets terrifies me.

And the Big Society rubbish. Ha ha ha ha. Talk about passing the buck. You live in a sink estate and can't make any money? Well, that's just your fault, isn't it? Do you Tory voters really believe that crapola?

I really really really wish we had someone decent to vote for. There is nobody. I don't know what to do tomorrow. I must vote though.

lemonmuffin · 05/05/2010 19:46

Totally agree Antoinetteouradi, thanks for starting this thread btw, a little oasis of sanity amid all the leftist handwringing

Beachcomber · 05/05/2010 19:48

Last call for anyone who will engage with me on Hammersmith and Fulham.

I really don't mean this as a hijack by a leftie, I just thought it might be interesting to have a Conservative supporting point of view so came here where I knew some of you are. I just wanted to listen to your views on this council that's all.

skihorse · 05/05/2010 19:55

Beachcomber- I'm afraid I haven't read your article - but have you had a chance to think about how to keep on spending at the rate the Labour government have been?

AntoinetteOuradi · 05/05/2010 19:56

Sorry - am suffering from lack of time. Will see if I can offer anything re H&F before tomorrow!

Thanks, lemonmuffin.

I read the article and all the comments on the thread devoted to it - I don't have anything more to add and if I did, I'd write it there. Yes, it's not an acceptable situation if it's true - but I feel the same way about our local Lib Dem council who've been an absolute disaster and spent all our council tax on a new office instead of services. What I am voting for is to reduce the deficit. I'm scared that if we don't do that properly and take the hard times now, in a generation we'll all be in far worse shape and the wonderful services we have (like the NHS) will be reduced to bare bones. This is a serious fear for me...

LadyBlaBlah · 05/05/2010 20:12

I see this thread is still spouting the same old Tory guff

Anyhow I cheered myself up today by beeping the horn at the local Tory candidate as he ponced down the road and shouting boooooooo

And telling my neighbour they were lowering the tone of the neighbourhood as they hammered in their Tory sign

Its the small things in life that count

Coolfonz · 05/05/2010 20:15

But everyone who lives in central London will get a peasant-whacking-stick when the Tories get in. so all you provincial types better watch out.

jackstarbright · 05/05/2010 20:27

H&F Tory council comments on the article if anyone is interested.

My LibDem council is also pretty shocking FWIW.

I read the article and I must say - full marks to Mr Hari for:

"Nick Anderton ....stares at it sadly and says: "The park is meant to be for everyone, isn't it? But we have to stop our football now so they can get it ready so these people can play polo............"

Nasty Tories - Classic!

Beachcomber · 05/05/2010 22:32

I see MmeLindt has started a thread about the article. Perhaps some Conservative supporters will comment on it.

skihorse · 06/05/2010 05:54

Why isn't anyone thanking those posh Polo players for allowing their Argentinian polo ponies to poo on the grass - ergo saving the taxpayer a small fortune in fertiliser?

skihorse · 06/05/2010 05:55

On second thoughts... Ed Balls is full of horseshit too...

scaryteacher · 06/05/2010 07:52

The article doesn't mention the money the Council receives from the polo club in rent, or what they plan to do with it.

Beachcomber · 06/05/2010 08:01

Thanks for the enlightening responses! OK will leave you to it, don't want to clutter up your thread. Have a good election day everybody.

jackstarbright · 06/05/2010 09:09

Seriously Beachcomber - What did you expect? It's like asking Labour voters to comment on a Daily Mail story on Single mums on benefits, or a Telegraph article on champagne socialists. .

ZephirineDrouhin · 06/05/2010 11:22

Perhaps Beachcomber was hoping for some tiny sign of compassion. But compassion is clearly a luxury most Tories on here don't feel they can afford.

skihorse · 06/05/2010 11:47

Perhaps we were waiting for some tiny sign of comprehension about money and/or bottomless pits.

Your post is quite frankly insulting and pathetic - petty insults about compassion are at best ludicrous but in effect only show how narrow-minded and ill-informed you really are.

If you want to talk "compassion" why don't we talk about the fact that every single person on this site who votes Conservative is showing a damned sight more compassion to YOUR children than you are. Or do you not actually care about the debts they'll inherit?

ZephirineDrouhin · 06/05/2010 11:53

Whoever gets in is going to cut public spending, skihorse. The question is how and when. Cutting too deeply and too soon (as proposed by the Conservatives) puts us at risk of returning to recession. Any party that talks about cutting Inheritance Tax in the same breath as cutting public services is making a very clear statement about where its priorities lie, and it is certainly not with the most vulnerable.

Beachcomber · 06/05/2010 12:06

Well I wasn't expecting people to defend polo matches in public parks and accuse people of not showing compassion to their own children.

I think I will hide this thread now.

skihorse · 06/05/2010 12:10

Zephirine - it's a shame you aren't aware of how the proposed IHT changes will work.

I'm very sorry that you don't realise that all parties will have to cut deep. "Soon" is relative. "Returning to a recession"?

You think we're locked in to economic recovery do you?

Beachcomber - I wasn't expecting you to ignore over and over again a question of where the cash for "all of this" was going to come from.

ZephirineDrouhin · 06/05/2010 12:25

Economic recovery is indeed far from certain, skihorse, and "soon" is indeed relative. I assume you've read this?

Do you want to enlighten us about Inheritance Tax?

AntoinetteOuradi · 06/05/2010 12:25

Chaos here, so no time to post properly. Skihorse, you are ace.

V jittery now...
