Just had to get that off my chest.

Please come and join me if you feel the same, and then I can stop annoying myself (and others) by hijacking the anti-Tory threads.

well that is one point we can agree or disagree on, and actually a rather minor one in the grand scheme of things. I don't really care, although it wouldn't apply to me anyway!

You must realise that his actions have an impact on our ability to weather a financial crisis like this though.

The thing is, we have been spending money we have not got. No one on MN would advise a family to do this, nor should a country.

zippy539 · 02/05/2010 22:29

Well put Expat.

OrmRenewed · 02/05/2010 22:29

"Why will you family be stuffed? - not being awkward, would generally like to know. "

Yes, me too. Curious to know.

HumphreyCobbler · 02/05/2010 22:29

Yes, I do agree that many posts in support of Labour also mention things that people don't want to lose. ANd who can really blame them, Gordon has created a culture of dependency where people are grateful to be given their own money back as a benefit

atlantis · 02/05/2010 22:31

Yes, I can't wait till friday morning when the Conservatives kick GB out of 10 Downing street and he runs back home to Scotland with his tail between his legs.

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/05/2010 22:31

Be afraid - be very afraid - this is the kind of person you will be voting into power if the conservatives do get in

And you begrudge paying prescription charges? (To pick up on just one of your points) Be my guest and pay for your medicine without a state subsidy! You have no idea how much medicine costs!

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 22:49

because see below. and the response was 'honestly'.

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/05/2010 22:52

Sorry, TRD - I don't understand your post! Where should I look/whose response?!

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 22:55

i meant I pointed that out, that which you linked to and it was not taken too kindly.

ZephirineDrouhin · 02/05/2010 22:56

BIWI it was TRD's post of 21:37 and AntoinetteOuradi's response of 21:38.

I saw this story today too - it's pretty shocking isn't it?

SethStarkaddersMum · 02/05/2010 22:56

BIWI - re prescription charges - depends on the medicine! I have twice looked into buying medicines from abroad via the internet (once because I was a poor student and couldn't afford the prescription charges, the second time because it was so hard to get a GP appointment and they would only give me a week's supply at a time). Thought better of it both times but it would have actually been cheaper than the charge, even with postage.

just a trivial point I know....

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 22:56

and would you mind calling me demosthenes rather than initials, please?

b4real · 02/05/2010 22:57

OURADI Good luck to you! I hope the Tories get in, perhaps we can leave the Big Brother State that Labour created and go back to normality! (hope Cameron repeals Labours daft laws as well!)

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 23:00

normality?! what you mean proper division of labour/aristocracy? reformation of the peerage system as it used to be? should we take back all the land and recarve it for the gentry?

what is normality?

BertieBotts · 02/05/2010 23:14

You don't pay taxes for your own personal gain you pay them to support the whole of society. And, sorry, you pay prescription charges and recieve nothing in return?? What are you getting prescribed, fresh air? and what about the GP's time to prescribe these medications?

And yes before you say it, I know that some people think my opinion probably doesn't count for much on this since I don't actually pay taxes at the moment, but I am likely to in the future, and when I do I won't be bleating about how unfair it is that I'm not getting anything back for them.

atlantis · 02/05/2010 23:17

"normality?! what you mean proper division of labour/aristocracy? reformation of the peerage system as it used to be? should we take back all the land and recarve it for the gentry?"

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 23:19

do you mean as in sceptical, or as in confused?

atlantis · 02/05/2010 23:25

as in, here we go again with the same old tosh and cobblers.

newyorkshire · 02/05/2010 23:27

Bertiebotts, your opinion does count and you are utterly correct .

TheRealDemosthenes · 02/05/2010 23:29

aaaah you meant

b4real · 02/05/2010 23:29

DEMOSTHENES I don't want to live in the Nanny State! Ed Balls your lovely Education Minister wants to put children on 'hate lists' for playground taunts, if the school deems them offensive, the children stay on this list until they are 18. Why? what is the motive? apart from taking away childrens civil liberties, I checked this info out, and found it to be true. It is only one example of many of how the Labour party has trampled on peoples human rights. Most people in society today have to watch their p and qs, in case someone finds it offensive. Christians like me and others feel we cannot express ourselves in case we are 'done' for a hate crime. I like the person who began the post, am sick and tired of being told what to do, and how to behave by the state! For every day Blair was in power, there was a new law. The sooner Cameron gets in and sorts these buggers out the better!

atlantis · 02/05/2010 23:30

Sorry Bertie I missed your post with all the -ing I was doing !

Your quite right, spot on and of course your opinion counts.

atlantis · 02/05/2010 23:32

"aaaah you meant "

I'm fed up with typing yawn and they don't have an eyerolling smiley so is the best I can do.

MNHQ can we have a yawn and eyerolling smiley please??

BertieBotts · 02/05/2010 23:35

At least we agree on something, atlantis

I am still undecided BTW, but TBH all of this "My taxes blah blah nothing back blah unfair" nonsense always seems to come from right wing voters, not just on MN but everywhere, and it's that which puts me off the most!
