Suspicious death, suspected murder. Think there is a press conference soon.

I think it's now all the more important to stop the endless speculation and let the police do their job...

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 11/07/2026 07:30

There was no "cover-up". The perpetrator in that case was Welsh. And at one point, he had been a choir boy.

The police were advised to publish the ethnicity of perpetrators because of the riots that followed the Southport case, incited by right wing disinformation online about the killer having been an asylum seeker.

He had a UK passport. Welsh is not an official nationality, so whether Welshness is purely ethnicity or not is a moot question.

I think it’s fairly easy to argue that it requires rather more integration than just being born within the principality, and that someone of African parentage and who has downloaded Islamist terror publications and then set out to murder little girls at a dance class may not be “Welsh” in any very meaningful sense of the word.

itwasyourshowallalong · 11/07/2026 09:16

Almost regardless of what happened, my concern now is that this is going to be spun by Farage et al into an attack on Reform

Which it may be, of course, but I do worry that this view will be pushed even in the absence of evidence

Gloriia · 11/07/2026 08:37

Not one commentator on tv or posters on here have suggested she was a saint, rather she had her opinions and views but she was happy to debate and always did so politely.

Those spewing bile should look in the mirror at who is 'filled with hate'. It certainly wasn't Ann Widdecombe.

Are you kidding me?

She was a hate filled bigot. LGBT, immigrants, non- Christians..anything that didn't fit into her warped version of Christianity.

She was a nasty piece of work who tried to cover it up by being an 'eccentric' media personality.

Seriestwo · 11/07/2026 09:18

Fiendishandfiery · 11/07/2026 09:08

no they didn’t , not releasing it to the public doesn’t mean the authorities thought that, no statement was released saying such a thing.

and they obviously knew immediately, her family saying she will have spent her last moments in abject terror shows just how brutal a murder this was.

That is awful for the family. I didn’t realise they had said that about her final moments.

evrybody wants their loved one to die comfortably in a bed. Nobody deserves a death from violence, not even women who devote their lives to public service and their faith - I’m horrified by the way she has been represented online.

That scrote Herbert is vile.

Which is why I think they quickly said the original suspect was white British (whether rightly or wrongly).

People are allowed to give their opinions. She certainly gave hers. She had some very nasty views and I dont see why people cant point that out. I dont want anybody to die horribly but I alao dont want people to have influence in society whose views cant be challenged, or whose views are whitewashed just because they suddenly died. And I think it's a perfectly fair point to say that there seem to be aome people who claim to be Catholic who have what seem to be extremely un-Christian views. I'm allowed to say that.

Sure, you're 'allowed' to say it, but is this the right time and place? How about showing some respect? It's not that difficult.

She wasn't a bigot, she had religious views as do many.

She certainly didn't try to 'cover anything up'. Why would she, she was happy to debate her points. Politely too, which is more than be said for the hate filled frothers.

Wholeheartedly agree - but it doesn’t necessarily follow that it won’t be spun as an attack on Reform. Blame isn’t just placed on “them forriners”, just look at the vitriol against the “loony left”

It's very easy to write things a keyboard warrior.

There is a time and place.

It's just tactless to write this kind of thing less than 3 days after a woman was murdered.

Imagine if her family read this.

Would you be so vocal to their faces at this time in their lives?

Heather Herbert is vile I hope he's sacked (if he even has a job) and Tatchell omg I've just seen some of his previous comments about children consenting to sex. How are these people even given a platform?!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/07/2026 08:46

Is that correct? It was being reported earlier that the ambulance crew called the police.

I suspect that is always the case, my uncle fell and died at home alone and the police were called, my MIL died alone at home from a stroke and the police attended. Partly at least just to make sure the house was secure. We were called both times by the police.

Tabarnak · 11/07/2026 09:27

OP / @MNHQ would it be possible to correct the spelling of her name, please?

It's time like this when social media is at its worst.

It's also debatable whether the thread should be closed down.
This is not the time or place to start ranting about what you thought of her.

Have some sensitivity.

Oh that’s awful. The investigation and the celebration.

Yet again the "LGBTQ¥¢®§¶" Blah blah blah loons show us how much they all hate women , especially older women who refuse to be doormats. How very dare pointless old women have opinions? They are a nasty bunch aren't they.

Shutting down discussion is exactly what they want. That's why there's the deliberate derailment.

TealShark · 11/07/2026 09:33

What is the correct amount of time for people not to share views or feelings about someone after they die?

Boomer55 · 11/07/2026 09:35

Well, they arrested someone but have now released him.

I didn’t agree with her politics - but I admire that she stuck to her principles, admire that she never accepted so much as a free cup of tea from lobbyists etc and admire that, away from politics, she could laugh at herself.

Poor woman - what a horrible way to end your life.

Police say the investigation into the former Conservative minister's death is "moving at a significant pace" and are appealing for information.

Awful isn’t it. Now she’s died we must all pretend she was a saint.

Oh would you please, for the love of all that's holy PACK IT IN.

Start your own thread about a tragic case of domestic violence. The partner/husband has been arrested in South Africa. I doubt very much that local press coverage assisted in that.

It also has absolutely nothing, NOTHING to do with the suspicious death of a former MP, MEP and TV personality.

Nothing.

@MNHQ can you do something about this?

It's disrespectful to the families and friends of both female victims of violence.

Exactly. You can say she was kind and polite until you're blue in the face - she may well have been, but she was a defensive, inflexible, unrepentant and extremely nasty politician in power, who did some extremely petty things. She'd have done worse given half a chance, given her support for the death penalty.

Politicians' personal and professional lives are two different things. I'm not for a second claiming that their actions were morally equivalent before anyone jumps on this, but Hitler was driven by very strong ethical principles in his personal life. Doesn't make him a good person, does it?

I pray that the police have got this wrong and she just fell, and it was all so quick.

But she was hated by far left activists.

Heather Herbert is a former Labour MSP. He and his trans activists friends were crowing about her death this morning.

https://x.com/i/status/2075508682419319218

The far left are an unspeakable bunch, quite without any human decency. 😡

She had different opinions to you, doesn’t make her a hate filled bigot. Look how some of the left are celebrating her death today. They are the ones filled with hate

Apparently there a calls for an enquiry into the practice now, so it's not a problem that has been resolved.

Just shows how difficult it is to counteract some things once they get out there and become accepted as truth
