Suspicious death, suspected murder. Think there is a press conference soon.

The telegraph too

hugasaurus · 10/07/2026 15:40

Couldn’t believe it when it popped up on my phone! What on earth?

ByGraptharsHammer · 10/07/2026 15:40

It’s absolutely horrible. Looks like murder and they must catch whoever has done this. Chills the blood

Wow. I can't say I was sorry to hear she'd died but I'd assumed it was natural causes. I hope that's the case.

Maybe assisted suicide? Although I admit, that doesn't seem a very Ann Widdecombe thing to do.

Without want to sound bad, was anyone else surprised she was only 78?

AllJoyAndNoFun · 10/07/2026 15:46

She was found covered in blood so unlikely to be assisted suicide

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 10/07/2026 15:46

That's awful if true.

I disagreed very strongly with her politics but I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

This. I disagreed with her on almost everything but this is absolutely appalling.

Omg. When I heard she had died I assumed a short illness as I swore it wasn’t long ago I saw her on the tv.

She was a devout catholic so highly unlikely

MrsPositivity1 · 10/07/2026 15:50

Omg noooo

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 10/07/2026 15:51

I heard her live on the radio just a week or two since- I highly doubt she had dementia.

I mean, I hated her politics, but she was articulate and clear, and correcting the interviewer on points of recall.

Also she was staunchly Catholic so doubt she would take her own life.

Honeyhonayboo · 10/07/2026 15:51

I think is just being investigated because the didn’t die of natural causes, she was covered in blood, elderly and under carers so the most probable scenario is that she fell. They just can’t rule that as fact until it has been investigated.

ofcolitas · 10/07/2026 15:51

I expect it will turn out to be either a burglary gone wrong or a targetted attack from a nutter who felt aggreived by one of her policies.

Poor woman, what a way to end your days. She must have been so frightened.

FunStork · 10/07/2026 15:51

Confirmed - it's a murder investigation.

I saw lots of LGBT activists celebrating her death this morning on Bluesky.

Oh that’s awful. The investigation and the celebration.
