Suspicious death, suspected murder. Think there is a press conference soon.

She wasn't a bigot, she had religious views as do many.

She certainly didn't try to 'cover anything up'. Why would she, she was happy to debate her points. Politely too, which is more than be said for the hate filled frothers.

She never debated politely, she acted like she was absolutely right in everything and treated her political opponents with contempt.

And yes, she was a bigot. I'm a former Christian who used to hold views akin to hers in some areas. I'm not proud of myself for it at all.

Silverbirchleaf · 11/07/2026 09:42

She was a very popular local MP in Maidstone, and used to arrange day trips for school kids to visit the Houses of Parliament, for example.

It's always sad when they go young like that. Praying for Ann.

Wtf is wrong with you?

LuckyHazelFox · 11/07/2026 09:42

R.I.P Ann. I shall be raising a glass to her tonight. Courageous, formidable Widders ❤️

The relevant point is that the police now release ethnicity details of perpetrators because idiots rioted after reading disinformation on social media.

The disinformation was put out by the police. They knew damn fine he was a dangerous fucker who had been reported to prevent on more than one occasion. Headteacher was forced to change their statement regarding his behaviour. All those people, including ARs parents should be on trial

TealShark · 11/07/2026 09:44

I think a lot of people that were vocally happy she’s dead were posting while it still hadn’t been announced that she’d been (suspected to have been) murdered.

Believing the world is better without someone is a different thing to believing that person deserved to be killed.

And I still remain of the view that silencing people’s feelings about someone who is newly dead is sanctimonious.

The far left are an unspeakable bunch, quite without any human decency. 😡

It's a kind of moral superiority that says anything done to an individual is unimportant compared to the ' greater good' that they are forever trying to achieve. So Zack Polanski saying people with Right wing views need to be excluded from society, placards and t-shirts advocating committing violence against women who don't agree with them, breaking women's backs with sledgehammers, all not that important because they are 'fighting for a better society'.

She was polite and self deprecating. Didn't suffer fools true but I never, ever saw her lower herself to the level of her nasty critics.

Indeed. She will be missed - by those that matter.

Elderly? She was only 78.

FFS how are people on this site so gullible? I can’t believe people are responding to this person as if they are a serious poster.

Daygloboo · 11/07/2026 08:13

No , you're probably right, but I cant help thinking it was very hot. Didnt someone say she had said ahe'd slipped in the shower a couple of days before ? Maybe she already had an injury and then collapsed with the heat and hit her head. The man has been released is all I'm saying.

They would have ruled out any chance of accidental death before launching a murder enquiry. I can only assume that there were significant injuries which clearly showed that she was attacked.

I liked her, didn't always agree with her, but I admired her. She was a force to reckon with and as sharp as a tack. I really hope she didn't suffer. 😟

'And I still remain of the view that silencing people’s feelings about someone who is newly dead is sanctimonious'

No one is silencing you. 'I wasn't a fan bit still sad news' would suffice.

The #BeKind crew really need to work on their hate filled, very poor social skills.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 11/07/2026 09:49

Listening to Times Radio now. Peter Tachell going on about how awful Ann Widdicome is AGAIN. He is now voicing condolences in an unconvincing way.

Someone who posted an attack before the murder investigation was announced is apologising on times radio rn. He says now isn’t the time and his condolences go to her family and loved ones.

I think he’s behaving better than some others who have been putting up awful stuff.

Recklessismymiddlename · 11/07/2026 09:50

The Bekind crew only ever want it one way.

PeachOctopus · 11/07/2026 09:52

Crocsarentslippers · 11/07/2026 09:17

Are you kidding me?

She was a hate filled bigot. LGBT, immigrants, non- Christians..anything that didn't fit into her warped version of Christianity.

She was a nasty piece of work who tried to cover it up by being an 'eccentric' media personality.

Edited

She was a staunch Catholic, she had views on homosexuality that see it as sinful that are in line with Catholicism. She was also friends with gay men such as Dan Wootton, she was not abusive to gay men on a personal level. Many Muslims including some in my own family also hold these views, I don’t agree with them but they are widely held in staunch religious communities.
She was against the over expansion of Trans rights, as are many others.
She spoke out against Tommy Robinson, she wanted to slow down immigration to Britain as do half the population, it it silly to characterise her as anything more than a Conservative Catholic.

It's very easy to write things a keyboard warrior.

There is a time and place.

It's just tactless to write this kind of thing less than 3 days after a woman was murdered.

Imagine if her family read this.

Would you be so vocal to their faces at this time in their lives?

Well, I'm not going to post any more... but not because I suddenly recogniase this as as a designated apace for 'respect, ' but because this clearly isnt a place where a proper philosophical debate can be had about the dead. I'm not spiritual or religious, so I only engage with what " the person' was like ( imo ),...what they said and did during life.... not with a separate 'dead person' status, where everything suddenly becomes all wonderful.

Ah, the "some of my best friends are black" defence.

Being a Catholic (or any kind of other religious person) doesn't give you a free pass to hold offensive and harmful views.

I'm a former Christian who has been forced to address the views I held which were wrong, and it's something that troubles me every day. I've done some things I'm really not proud of.

Boomer55 · 11/07/2026 09:55

Whatever her political views, can’t we, as fellow humans, just express sadness that a 78 year old woman has probably been battered to death in her own home?

Jeez, some people are just full of bile. 🙄

Mischance · 11/07/2026 09:56

I think it is fine to say you did not like someone's views - or indeed, like me, found them abhorrent, when they have died. People do not suddenly convert to being saints when they die.

I am sure her relatives are fully aware of the fact that many were offended by her views - at this point when people are looking back on her life this is bound to come up. That is not a problem.

But she carried those views to her grave and never addressed the harm she did. At least I'm trying to live better now.

I've apologised to the people I've wronged.

Dollymylove · 11/07/2026 09:59

Imagine the terror she must have felt in her final moments. Imagine if it was the grandma of those spewing their bile.
What an awful world we have created for our future generations 🙄

Mischance · 11/07/2026 10:00

It is entirely possible to be horrified by the manner of her death, whilst also recognizing that many of her views were unacceptable (not to say bigoted) and caused distress to many, and that some of her actions supported policies that have proved detrimental to the country.

I doubt her relatives are giving that any head space. Their loved relative has just been murdered. Anyone, with any ounce of dignity and class would refrain from making negative comments at such a time. She was a right leaning Christian, however, so fair game to the we demand tolerance brigade.
