Dawn Butler racism just fine according to Labour

Well, didn’t take long for labour ministers to show their real beliefs did it. According to Dawn Butler, Kemi Badenoch is “a white supremacist in blackface” (with apologies to all for re-typing her massively offensive words). According to the lovely KS this is all just fine, nothing to see here, move along.

One rule for labour, one rule for everybody else. Again. Last time it was failure to declare gifts. This time it is blatant racism. How hideous this government is and what rank hypocrites.

Dawn Butler must have the whip withdrawn otherwise I don’t want to hear one more word from this racist government.

Good lord. I hadn't heard about that comment from RR. How awful.

Is it awful though? Why should farmers die tax free. No-one else does.

"never progressed past" could be substituted with "held true to their values and didn't change their politics out of self interest, sometimes even just for one policy". How does that 'chime'?

I prefer live and learn.

No, I’m the one highlighting DB’s offensive retweet and KS’s inaction @username7891. That’s what I want to discuss.

I don’t understand why people keep banging on about BJ or demanding 14 years worth of Tory policy as evidence before admitting that what she re-tweeted was vile. Why can’t you just admit what she retweeted was horrible?

People are asking for evidence of the progressive party you're banging on about. You're talking about Labour prejudice while Johnson won a landslide. It's laughable.

There are extremely important reasons why, particularly for the benefit of the country. The news has covered this extensively so it's easy to bone up on the issue.

This thread is about Dawn Butler. And her offensive tweet (for the avoidance of doubt).

The op isn't 'banging' on about that. She's talking about Dawn Butler's tweet.

It seems you are more interested in that topic

It's said that the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing but expect a different result.

It makes more sense to learn from your mistakes and stop making them, even better is to learn from other peoples' mistakes, even better is to not make mistakes at all, though very unlikely.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 04/11/2024 12:16

No, I’m talking about Dawn Butler’s tweet. Dawn Butler. Offensive tweet. I think she should have the whip removed. Is that clear enough? D.A.W.N B.U.T.L.E.R.

Do you eat food?
Perhaps you'd prefer it if the farmers would commit suicide a bit faster?

I hope it's just a lack of knowledge on her part that makes her say that. Hopefully she will be able to read up on the issue now.

If people had to produce & process their own food rather than toddling off to a supermarket they might have a different perspective.

Who do you think she is trying to attract by this and why do you think her ethnic origin is relevant to those people.

Kemi's portrayal seems designed to attract conservative, middle-to-upper-class voters. Her ethnic background adds a narrative of overcoming adversity, aligning with meritocratic ideals.

However, older traditional voters may resist supporting a black woman in leadership, and this strategy could alienate progressive groups seeking genuine representation while failing to fully win over more conservative audiences.

KindQuail · 04/11/2024 12:46

username7891 · 04/11/2024 11:52

I haven't defended her tweet. I'm challenging the claim that the Tories aren't racist and are a progressive party.

It's very telling how the Tories' racism is suddenly in the past when they're pointing the finger at others.

What happened was for some reason, instead of outright condemning DB tweet comment, you said on the 1st page, you didn't know who was worse? her or BJ?which was a weird thing to do since he isn't even a a MP anymore, let alone the leader of the conservative party.

Then when people asked you why you were banging on about BJs comments from years ago as if they were relevant to the discussion, someone made a comment about how the Labour party were positioning themselves as non-racist and progressive in comparison to the conservative party, which wouldn't align with them supporting this extremely offensive racist comment, you then started demanding evidence of the Tories progressive policies and evidence of them not being racist.

You've deflected from your first post and are making up your own narrative of the thread.

We can all see your posts and see YOU. Stop deflecting and making things up as you go along.

You are NOT condemning racism if you also say..but this other bloke from the Tories said this years ago so..people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones which is an exact quote from one of your posts.

You condemn racism or you don't.

You condemn racism or you don't.

That's exactly the point I'm making, you condemn racism or you don't irrespective of party politics.

Labour haven't condoned Butler's retweet. Yvette Cooper was very clear in her remarks.

I'm sure we can all agree that racism is unacceptable, no matter who says it.

There are a significant number of posters who NEVER start their own thread, preferring to subvert others.

Its really poor and MN needs to stamp it out.

If you think posts are derailing the thread there is a report option.

I quite like how threads range around topics, it's like taking a walk and admiring the view rather than racing to your destination.

This is the strangest post on this thread. So you are saying because Boris Johnson wrote something, the Labour Party can be as racist as they like going forward and no one should raise an eyebrow. Because the other boy did it too?

Good to see standards being raised by "the adults being back in the room"(ahem..)

You clearly haven’t read my post correctly. Maybe try again.

In response to this question, Cooper said:

As I said, I haven't seen the post and I think those sorts of issues around party issues, those are always ones for the Whip.

It appears that this is a decision for the Whip.
