Dawn Butler racism just fine according to Labour

Well, didn’t take long for labour ministers to show their real beliefs did it. According to Dawn Butler, Kemi Badenoch is “a white supremacist in blackface” (with apologies to all for re-typing her massively offensive words). According to the lovely KS this is all just fine, nothing to see here, move along.

One rule for labour, one rule for everybody else. Again. Last time it was failure to declare gifts. This time it is blatant racism. How hideous this government is and what rank hypocrites.

Dawn Butler must have the whip withdrawn otherwise I don’t want to hear one more word from this racist government.

Being asked for evidence is 'whataboutery' - you are great fun.

Google is your friend.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 04/11/2024 09:52

The evidence is in the retweet that she has now deleted following outcry at her racism. It’s all over the news. What more evidence do you want @username7891? if the evidence of someone doing something that thousands of people witnessed isn’t good enough for you then I don’t know what to say because you aren’t living in reality.

It's obvious why Dawn and Labour are hitting back at Kemi Badenoch being leader. They will be furious. Labour - the party of woke have not had non white leader (Conservatives have had two) or a permanent female leader (Conservatives have had four). You might think that Labour, despite their self-marketing as being woke, are actually fairly bigoted.

BerriesAndWinterMists · 04/11/2024 09:56

Dawn Butler apparently re-posted (re-tweeted) a post by Nigerian-British author Nels Abbey, based in London, entitled: 'Warning: Seven Rules for Surviving A Kemi Badenoch Victory'. Abbey has, I think, indicated it was supposed to be sardonic and nuanced. I'm not convinced that Dawn Butler understood this. (This is a woman who believes in the gender fairies.)

Anyway she then quickly took it down.

Yvette Cooper isn't happy but says it's a matter for the whips.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper stressed people should be welcoming Ms Badenoch breaking a glass ceiling to become Tory leader

Are you trying to run the old lefty whatabouterry tactic? We see through you all now. The fog is starting to lift.

Labour aren't good people.

@Nordione1 , whataboutery is the tactic of those who have no other argument and they think it’s clever! 🤣

Do you think someone should be leader because of the colour of their skin or their sex? Personally, I want the best for the job whoever they may be

I just knew a Labour MP was going to come up with something like this. As a brown woman, the most unpleasant forms of racism I've experienced (bearing in mind that I grew up in the 70s and 80s when there was overt racism) has been from left wing people at the university I work at. They can't stand it when a woman of colour doesn't stay and think in the place that the Left has carved out for them. I'm not even remotely right wing either, just left of centre and don't subscribe to critical race theory (or any other kind of reductive, blunt theory that lacks the ability to deal with issues in a nuanced way).

Dawn butler is black as a black woman she is entitled to say that . It's not ravism if it's from a fellow black woman I also think Dawn has a point. Uounknow the black republican senators or congressman I get them confused as british any way they lead very white areas because majority of black won't vote for them because they know they don't have their fellow black people's interest.
Guido can't remember surname worked for Boris stated that she kemi was picked because she can say stuff that fellow white folks can't so there we bloody go

Agreed. There's something in the Bible about this from recollection. About a speck of sawdust in someone else's eye ignoring a plank in your own!

But. somehow, for Labour that "best for the job" is always, always white and male.Hmm

I've just googled Dawn Butler fully expecting to see a white woman. She is a black woman.

As a black woman myself this is different coming from another black woman, we are allowed to call out behaviour that we see as harmful to people of our own race. There are terms within black and other ethnic minority cultures to describe people of our own race who we feel are acting in the best interests of the majority race.

Yes you are of course I am clapping for your comment I am white and I agree with you

Well obviously I agree. But I'm not left wing and into performative politics. The left generally see someone's skin colour or sex before they see the character. We all know this.

What are you saying? Do you think Kemi is getting above herself as she's leader of the opposition and also black? Do you "see that as harmful to people of our own race"? That's well down the madness of identity politics!!

No that's not what that person means kemi says that there isn't racism in the uk there is but kemi didn't grow up in the uk if she sis she would have found that wasn't true. Guido harris Boris Johnson old advisor stated on lbc other day that kemi can say what other white people can't so maybe as this fellow poster was saying kemi doesn't have best interest for fellow black folk

MaidOfAle · 04/11/2024 10:09

This is just another way to call a Black woman "coconut" or "Oreo" for not toeing the Labour/Democrat (delete according to nation) party line. Isn't it racist to assume that all people of a particular colour or background will want the same thing and think the same way?

@TinkerTiger , don’t you think that in the interest of equality which I hope we are all striving for, that all ‘rules’ should apply to all equally?
By the way if you don’t know who Ms Butler is I would guess that you’re not very politically engaged, it’s important to understand what this shameless shower represents before considering voting for them.

They are certainly making it look that way. Best park your ambitions at the door if joining the Labour Party as a woman or person of colour - there is an immovable glass ceiling for you (before anyone jumps in to cheer about RR being chancellor - big whoop. That is small fry compared to conservatives actually walking the walk time and again in their leadership selection, whether you like them or not).

You are quite right - labour hates Kemi’s selection so much because it highlights their woeful record when it counts.

What are you on? That's not true they don't hate her for that they hate her for her voting review her opinions I mean the other day saying we should all get over Boris party gate saying it's nothing . So that's the tories not learning from their mistakes is it

This old excuse just highlights that labour have never ever thought that a woman or poc would be the best person for the job. So still hideous.

Labour leadership congratulated Badenoch on her win. Badenoch responded by trying to humiliate and belittle Rachel Reeves.

As you're aware, the Labour government has more women in the cabinet than any other government, has more female MPs and more people from ethnic minorities than the Tories. Rachel Reeves is the first female chancellor in 800 years.

It is not explained via a google search @username7891. You’re not shy about posting here so please can you explain why women or people of colour have never been selected as labour leader. I’ll wait.

There's still some trade unions that would not back a female Labour leader. It's not an official refusal, it's not written down, the membership just wouldn't vote for one. Misogyny is rife in certain unions.
