Can't berate Starmer for this but think some parents will be aghast.

I've voted Labour in every election apart from Starmer and Corbyn. I'm not angry because I'm a Tory, I'm angry because I'm not, and I want Labour to be a party I can vote for.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 29/09/2024 08:45

@EasternStandard We'll have to do a financial tally at the end of the term. We both know which party had their hands in the till, and used a pandemic as a cover to pay billions to their mates.

How odd, a pile of Tories piles on. All the usual names!

Starner was wrong to accept the free goods, although it was a minuscule drop in the ocean compared to what the Tories took.

I'm more interested to know in detail what his policies are. It's become common for politicians of all stripes to be coy about those. Democracy in action.

Get a grip. Plenty of us aren’t Tories. That’s the issue.

Of course Starmer gifts were a drop in the ocean compared to the Tories. That’s one man vs how many MPs?

You can’t compare personal gifts of one man to the gifts of an entire government of MPs. Over which time period? We are talking about KS. You need to do a like for like comparison.

The fact remains it’s shitty of all of them. Which KS agreed with. KS insisted he and his party were different. Except they aren’t. And he is still lying. Not even clever lies. Provable lies.

MoneyNeverSleeps · 29/09/2024 09:16

I have just caught up with the latest domestic politics.

My oh my isn’t Starmer getting himself into a pickle.
This could be a lame-duck one-term administration.

And before the usual shills remind me of Labours majority, they are evidently not immune from a healthy dollop of infighting.

What a cluster-fuck.

Schadenfraude.

BIossomtoes · 29/09/2024 09:17

Absolutely right. Compare Johnson and Starmer over the same five year period.

No frothing - just a cool, calm, calculated analysis of the fucking mess Labour are.

It’s quite amusing

A small list up to 2022. It doesn’t even mention Boris Johnson giving a £199k a year job to Carrie, when he was having an affair with her.

Ok, and back to the current government.

When the new labour MPs had to vote to axe WFA or face losing their brand new jobs, jobs given to them by their constituents. It occurred to me that outside this bubble you can't sack people willy nilly because they don't agree with you.

My MP toed the line in an area of extreme poverty. How will those constituents feel when she plays the nodding donkey for the next five years.

It's not a democracy

He never claimed to be on moral high ground 😂

MoneyNeverSleeps · 29/09/2024 09:37

Isn’t it ironic.

The 14-year Tory period which the Labour shills love to reference, evidently had a significant consequence, namely that Labour have zero political muscle memory. They are simply unable to govern - if it isn’t the anti sémitism that torn apart Corbyn, it’s good old sleaze and incompetence.

MoneyNeverSleeps · 29/09/2024 09:40

BTW.

I think we will need to start a number of separate threads to cover all the areas in which Labour are blowing up.

I am confident that we will need them - such fertile territory.

Yes go ahead and do that. I don’t think you can define KS gifts as a drop in the ocean compared the BS.

Though, Jesus, is that what we want?

‘Not as a bad as Boris’ is the Bar we have set for KS?

i don’t believe you are that dim you don’t see the issue. Given KS, rightly, highlighted how shit and Corrupt the Tories were and insisted he wouldn’t be the same. The fact that he is the exactly the same and was doing the same whole campaigning on how his Labour Party wasn’t like them, is a main part of the issue.

He is just like them. That’s the problem.

TizerorFizz · 29/09/2024 09:44

@justasking111 It is. You just don’t understand what a democracy is. It is not following what some constituents might or might not want. It’s a system of electing governments. If you want clear views on a policy, have a referendum.

MPs have discretion and it’s normal to vote with your party. As it is nearly everywhere else in the world with democratic voting systems. Might I suggest you would like the Swiss system of referenda? No government can possibly please all of the people all of the time. Just look at Israel.

Labour only got 33.7% of the votes. So a landslide of MPs with differing views but not a landslide of votes. They won’t do what Labour voters want and MPs won’t agree with the leadership. What’s new?

Blanketyre · 29/09/2024 09:46

I can't quite understand why anyone would think this was an OK thing to do tbh.

The optics are bloody awful!

Certain Labour fans have studiously avoided addressing the hypocrisy element of the issue, preferring to describe the discussion as 'right wing frothing'. Which speaks volumes.

It really does show a lack of critical thinking to portray such unwavering loyalty at all times. It's ok to not agree with your chosen political party, you know, and see the hypocrisy for what it is. Being a full time cheerleader is just rather pathetic, IMO.

No wonder turnout at the GE was so low. Look at the choice the electorate had.
