Quick update - Stars moved in to her very own rented house this evening - is unpacking bin bags as we type... All happened a bit fast, and even I on the outside feel like I'm still catching my breath!

Plus, H has left her alone for a couple of days - one phone call today, but is going to be visiting his family over for 4 days from Thurs, so doesn't know where she is, and has no way of finding out for the next week.

Big sigh of relief all round

One hiccup - she doesn't have a landline sorted yet, and may not be able to get it (and tinterweb) connected for 11 days, due to previous tenant not having properly stopped his account. However, she's got the bit between her teeth and a very determined look in her eye, and I'm thinking she may get them to sort things earlier than that

So I'm sure she'll be reporting in herself as soon as she can, but for now no news is good news, and if anyone gets twitchy they can always mail me

Jacksmama · 26/05/2009 21:21

Oh wow - fantastic!!! Fabulous news!!

BradfordMum · 26/05/2009 21:26

Oh what a relief
This thread seemed to go quiet and I was dreading any updates!
Thank you Dread for looking after Stars so well.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 26/05/2009 21:31

Oh, Stars. That's amazing. Fantastic news

You'll be popping popcorn very soon then from the sounds of it.

I've probably got towels and a double duvet and pillow cases if that's any help? (As long as they are still where I put them years a little while ago )

Give us a list of anything you are missing. I'm sure we can equip you between us all.

Enjoy your own space

Niftyblue · 26/05/2009 21:34

Well done stars

LobstersLass · 26/05/2009 21:34

What wonderful news!
Stars, I am so proud of you and what you have achieved!!!

I hope you're enjoying pottering in your own place and that it's confirming to you that you've done the right thing.

I would suggest that you definitely don't let your husband know where you are and have any required meetings at another location - perhaps your sister's house?

puffling · 26/05/2009 21:36

I'm so pleased for Stars and relieved. Hurray.

Jux · 26/05/2009 21:40

Oh I am so happy for you Stars. Champagne glasses out again - there's even some Pimms left. Here's looking at you kid!

fantastic news dread - glad that Stars is moving on with her new life.

will you post/email a list of things Stars needs so all her MN supporters can help her out

poshtottie · 26/05/2009 21:52

You have definitely been repeating those affirmations I posted a while back stars.

Let us know if anything is needed. Would love to help out if I can.

Portofino · 26/05/2009 21:53

Oh that is FAB news! Well done Stars! And you've got a new Popcorn maker to look forward to !

thederkinsdame · 26/05/2009 21:56

Brilliant news Stars! I am SO relieved you haven't fallen for his lies. Hope you will be very happy in your new home. Just think, you can close the doorand know that you and your children are happy and safe. {{{hugs}}}

Pinkfluffyslippers · 26/05/2009 22:05

Well done Stars on getting away. You may not feel it at the moment but in the future you will be so proud of yourself for being the one that took control of a wretched situation and got out. (I dumped my controlling ex partner (he wasn't in the same league as your situation) but two years on I still get an enormous smirk of satisfaction!)

I agree with Dr Love's suggestion about seeing the GP.I'm sure that will help when the adrenilin runs out.

Finally I'm not meaning to be gloomy - just practical - make sure you update your will so it reflects your new situation. (not sure if anyone has mentioned.

Take care -

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/05/2009 22:11

Fab news!!

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/05/2009 22:20

ooo how fantastic!
Just hoping he is not visiting his family to work out a strategy aimed at getting you back under his control and back in the family house.

Remember that blood is thicker than water and no matter what he has done, they are very unlikely to sympathise with you at the moment. Even if any of them think that you have done the right thing, they won't say so.

Be prepared for the whole lot of them to come down on you like a ton of bricks.

I hope you're having locks done and also put locks on at least one upstairs room and have a phone in there.
At least if EX H (practice saying that now please!!) turns up you can hide.
Am going to dig out dreads email to get somewhere to post that popcorn maker to.

Hope everything is ok, and please see your gp, I definitely had a post traumatic stress thing going on for a long time after I left, but I didn't realise it and I got very little support as everyone just thought I'd 'split up with my boyfriend' which doesn't sound much of a trauma does it.

bratnav · 26/05/2009 22:24

Amazing news, hope you can read all the support for you here soon Stars

Kutner · 26/05/2009 22:49

Sorry, have just namechanged for the new season of House (am usually BSFB)

Congratulations on moving into your new family home Stars.

What wonderful news! I really am so pleased for you and your dcs

BarnMummy · 26/05/2009 22:53

That is fantastic news - Stars and Dread you make such a good team!

Another one here wanting to know if there is anything you need for your house stars: I have duplicates of lots of things from kitchenware to bedding (even if I can't match the popcorn maker!), so please just ask.

drlove8 · 26/05/2009 23:01

FANTASTIC NEWS STARS! Congratulations on your new home, hope you and DC make many many happy memories there! , you did it! yay! .....i have a wee £5 gift voucher from argos, do u want it?, its not much but could go towards buying something for your new home.... cat me .

treedelivery · 26/05/2009 23:05

Oh God this is great news Stars from a lurker - well done!!

You have done an amazing thing for your dc's.

Do 2 more

Don't let him know where you live - there is no going back - once he knows he knows. Why should he know? What need has he to know? Don't

AND

Dont go back.

You are amazing.

Am ready for any contribution/household purchase that might help. Whip round for a telly and dvd player, rugs, paint etc? I think it's the big stuff that can be tricky as they are so important Got a spare blender too [no idea why]

Could Stars get a phone contract with good phone for internet access? Hate to think of you with no mn!

treedelivery · 26/05/2009 23:06

drlove8 Argos vouchers might be a great idea! Plus the obvious need for a popcorn maker and a blender.

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/05/2009 23:12

I can't beleive all the comments about my popcorn maker

However dread I can't find your email addy in ANY of my several email accounts!! Can you please send it and somewhere to send the pcmaker to, to [email protected]

Yes I know I could trawl back through all three threads to find your addy... but I did that once and you never even got the email!!

Stars n stripes if you don't appear for a while then GOOD!! It means you are settling in nicely and getting things done rather than 'arsing about on mumsnet'

Maybe you should namechange to reflect your new life and cast off the old?

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/05/2009 23:14

Where is that list of 'donations' that someone was compiling, is it on the last thread?

I'll start another

POPCORN MAKER from flibbertyjibbet

Meglet · 26/05/2009 23:19

Hurray stars. Great to hear you have a place of your own . All the best getting settled. Fingers crossed your ex H keeps away and doesn't pester you. Hope the dc's are settling in ok too.
