Well first session seemed to go well apart from Hannah throwing up all over the shop including over me thanks sweetie!

Lots of friends along to wish us well but no new mums, but would have been suprised if we had had any.

Lots of logistical things to think about and I feel the session is too long, what do people think would be better 9.30 - 11.00 or
10.00 - 11.30 ?

At the moment its 9.30 - 12 which is just too long IMHO.

Panda - Holiday sounds lovely am very the only holiday it looks like we might be having is with my 'ILs which as much as we get on these days wont be overly relaxing, but the kids will love it.

CD - Will be praying for you and Mr Dippy.

Please pray that I get all my work done for tomorrow and not sure how I am going to find the hours between now and tomorrow morning!

DutchOma · 04/06/2007 15:13

Can I come? Without little ones? I like cake but not sure about bouncy castle...

MaryBS · 04/06/2007 15:43

Oops, sorry DO . My mother's proud of me too, even though I'm an apostate . Oo oo oo, didn't tell you lot, (or I dont think I did), that mum is REALLY coming round to my ministry now! She has seen what a huge positive impact it has had on my life, and she's really pleased! Much better than the "going to an Anglican church is better than nothing"!

Panda - glad you had a good holiday!

WB - I would go for 10-11:30. I remember what it was like trying to get out the house early for things like mums&tots! Nice to see you BTW!

Roseylea · 04/06/2007 18:01

DutchOma - yes, come! It would be lovely to meet you! I'll e-mail you this evening - this is just a flying visit in between dinner and bath-time...

Hey, would you like to hear a God-incidence? (yes, of course you would!!! ) Well yesterday's sermon at church was partly about serving God in your workplace...well it really struck me which is why I was posting last night about thinking of setting up a prayer group.

So today at work I felt that God was nudging me to go and just have a chat with the guy who runs the teeenagers' christian club (whom I thought vauguely I knew but wasn't sure). I wasn't sure what I'd say exactly, but one of the kids told me where to find him and off I went. I recognised him immediately, and he recognised me, because he is a member of our church! (altho he only ever goes to the evening service and I rarely go to that service) and we worked out we had lots of friends in common.

But the really amazing thing is that he is off to South America in Sept and is leaving doing the christian club after 9 yrs, and he and the other leader have been praying like mad for another leader to come along who can help run it in Sept. The kids who go to the club I already know well from my work context, and they were all saying 'Miss, you've got to be a leader! We need you!' It just felt like God had led me there and it was Him saying those words to me. So I'm going to meet up with the leaders next week, with a view to starting help lead the club in Sept. Wow! Thank you Lord! (it also turns out that one teenage girl whom I know well recently prayed to become a christian, and another girl I know very well is thinking hard about it...lots of fuel for prayer there!)

I'm still mulling over how I can start a prayer group at work as well...as God has shown me today, He will lead if only we are available!

Sorry to go on but I am so excited about the way God works in our lives!

Notquitegrownup · 04/06/2007 19:35

Ooh flying by. Mary do CAT me with your address and EDWJ is yours.

Only six weeks to the meet up. Ooohhh, lovely! CD I am working on accommodation for you guys! DutchOma it would be lovely to see you - and anyone else who wants to come.

(Warning the bouncy castle is in the pub over the road - hope that's OK if anyone is teatotal!)

There's good news about baby Carys making good progress on the thread in Health, by the way.

Prayers and hugs all round.

In haste. God bless.

CaptainCaveman · 04/06/2007 20:03

Wow Rosey, that is truly fabulous! Praise God for showing you so clearly where to be (I was going to write "where to go" but that sounds rude!!)

How's everyone else this evening? I'm just about to delve back in to my study books to look at partnership working.....

notsofarnow · 04/06/2007 20:24

aghhhh just lost post - again

Weirdbird do you know that any group over two hours has to be registered with I think social services, and then has to be inspected etc.

As for times if your targeting mums with other children then maybe 9.30 would be a good time as its just after school drop off. otherwise the later time would be good. Could you get hv's on your side then they could direct mums to you.

Rosey

Hello everyone else.

weirdbird · 04/06/2007 21:32

What do you mean by any group over 2 hours??

We don't look after there kids for them, the parents have to stay. I have helped with toddler groups in the past and have never heard of that!

Am leaning towards the 10.00 to 11.30 as that is the same time as the Bumps and Babes group on the friday.

weirdbird · 04/06/2007 21:39

Have just checked, this applies to playgroups where you are looking after the children for parents, not a toddler group which is what we are providing.

notsofarnow · 04/06/2007 21:54

we were always told that it applied to parent and toddler groups i'm sure its in my parent and toddler guide which is now buried somewhere with all the theological/doctrine books we don't use anymore. grrrr

MaryBS · 04/06/2007 22:42

Eeek!!!! Just got back from seeing my tutor(got carried away talking!). First of all she said ?a pass is fine, it means you have done everything we?ve asked of you. A credit is excellent, it means you?ve made some interesting points over and above what is required, which made me think. A distinction is an exceptional piece of work, and has to be deserved?.

I got 2 distinctions and a credit?

The first thing I did was thank God for his help and inspiration whilst I was working on it. I?m nearly in tears, I can?t believe how well its all been received. The credit was for the outline work ? I didn?t expect to do that well on that, because it wasn?t really finished, I wasn't totally clear what was required for it ? certainly didn?t expect to get a credit for it! She?s written some really complimentary things. She said my Reflection was a superb piece of work. Can?t believe it? really can?t believe it!

PandaG · 04/06/2007 22:44

whoo hoo! WELL DONE!! that is brilliant Mary

RL - fantastic story - seize the opportunity with both hands! A lovely example of an answer to prayer!

Sooz - praying for you and your DH as you set up your business. Wonderful that people have been pitching in and helping!

NQGU - I'm not set up to CAT people, if you email me on "suttonmb" at "talktalk" dot "net", then I'll send you my address - thank you VERY much!

WB - all the mums/tots groups I've been to have been about 90 mins, so there may be something in that... don't know for sure.

No news on Judy - please continue to pray for her and her daughter.

And my brother is now home with his family! Woohoo!

Please pray for Dniece (the adopted just 3yo). She's been having nightmares about "tummy mummy" - this is a repeat to some extent of what her older sister went through last year. Am unsure whether "tummy mummy" means her natural mum, but apparently she's been having v. disturbed nights... she's not old enough to remember her biological mum, but may have picked up bad vibes from her sister.
